This just came out of the oven. Once again, the corn starch technique worked so well. Genius how glaze like the filling became. The lemon boosted the tartness of the cherry while the sugar carried the sweetness. The almond extract was a great touch. I added 1/2 teaspoon of spiced rum to enhance the almond. I tasted the filling before the pie went in. Perfection. I've been baking Preppy Kitchen pie recipes for 4 years now for Thanksgiving. Never disappoints.
I made this last night and it is perfection! The best cherry pie filling I’ve tried. It has a balanced sweet cherry flavor and it set beautifully. It’s our new favorite pie. Thank you!!!
As a retired Swiss Master Baker and Master Pastry Chef I want to congratulate you on the brilliant and super professional instruction. Always learn new things from you, very impressive. Thanks you for all the great inspirations.

Don’t let someone tell you it’s too advanced because it’s simple but just need a little patience and love with this one. Thank you for the recipe! ❤
Fresh cherries are hard to find near me because we had a hard freeze this spring. My neighbor’s tree was not affected and it’s LOADED with cherries. She just dropped some off and I saw this recipe! Also-congrats on 3 million! So proud of you. Thanks for all the recipes, sweet and savory.

Hi John, I love your videos! I have been married since I was 16 (54th anniversary soon).I've never been a good cook, but managed to make meals for my hubby and our 2 kids and kept them healthy but I retired from my kitchen when the kids were out on their own. Cooking was never my thing, just a dreaded chore. Recently, I've begun watching RUclips recipe videos that have enticed me into making a few things. Even more shocking is , I've not messed up! The first thing I made was a big pot of boiled cabbage that was delicious. Compliments on my cooking are as rare as UFOs, but my husband bragged on my cabbage!! Next, I'm going to make your apple cobbler. If it's half as successful as my cabbage, let the compliments begin! I hope you can help me on this new venture in the kitchen, I will share my praises with you! First off, plz tell me the name/brand of the big, sharp, easy cutting knife you use to slice/cut apples, potatoes, onions etc. I have never owned a good knife, mine are more like little saws, slicing a tomato is a big juicy mess, a lot of work to slice anything, especially a carrot. If this cooking kick continues, I hope to someday have an entire drawer full of handy cooking gadgets and a good knife! My sister, a fabulous cook, has always told me the reason I've never been good at cooking is because 'my heart isn't in it' . She's right but I can actually feel my heart beginning to stir as I'm planning to make your apple cobbler. Wish me luck!
well, maybe a alte response, may it help you: generally the thing that matters is not the quality of the knife but how you sharpen it...yes, knifes don"t come sharpened or stay sharp, you have to make them sharp and in fact it is easy (a bit boring at first), all my knifes are third brand or generic, yet when i get teh stone and work on them...well they can cut tomattoes like it is easy, sometimes even chicken bones are cut whit ease (of course it takes from the edge). Point is: when you learn to work your knifes, it is easy, they stay sharp a lot and you just need to rework them sometiems, but you don"t need fancy overpriced knifes because even them will lose their edge over time (eternally sharp knifes don"t exist). i say more: a 15 dollar chinese knife can be as good as a 200 dollar one if you sharpen it often.

Thanks for all the great recipes, personally on number 5 of made. Super glad yer cherry Pie is the “Best”, my dad will be very happy on his birthday this year being that cherry pie is his all time favorite!
This is a tip for people without cherry pitters, if you have a metal straw you can use that instead, apply force to the back of the cherry where the stems are with the straw and the seed should slide out leaving you with a pitted cherry.
@Preppy Kitchen I've tried this and our pastor at church really enjoyed it & he said it's delicious! Thanks very much for sharing! Yday he emailed me asking me to bake another one for his 10th Anniversary as pastor in our church! :) 😀❤

This was a great recipe and pretty easy to follow! I mixed a handful of raspberries with the cherries because I'm not a huge fan of cherries, and the mixture was great.
I absolutely love all the little tips you give throughout the recipe! It may seem overly meticulous but a pie is the LAST thing you wanna half-ass. Watery pie and melting pastry are NOT pretty. I'll definitely be trying this out now that it's cherry season!

Omg his kid its like a mini version of him!!! Sooo cute and he's so big! 😍 I've never done cherry pie... now I feel confident about making it.... thanks!
When I first noticed this recipe of yours, I simply kept on by-passing it. I thought, Oh No, this again one of those USA cooks who will use store bought cherry tart filling (something that is not available in my country) which means that I cannot make it. I was wrong and appologise. Thank you for making your own filling!
Just made this. Amazing. Only my second pie. I took extra care to weight the ingredients. I used a little less butter and added leaf lard. It was so flaky! This next weekend, I’m on to John’s Lemon Meringue!
13:14 A lot of the time, when people say cover the edge with aluminum foil, they don't which side is facing out, so, I'll tell you, you want the shiny side facing out, that reflects the thermal energy coming from the oven away from your pie.

@Preppy Kitchen I've tried this and our pastor at church really enjoyed it & he said it's delicious! Thanks very much for sharing! Yday he emailed me asking me to bake another one for his 10th Anniversary as pastor in our church! :) 😀❤
wow thanks, it looks yummy & you made it look so easy really, I'm going to try this & give it to my pastor for his birthday! thanks again, you're awesome!
Since it’s cherry season i searched the channel for a cherry pie recipe in the morning and i couldn’t find any followed Clair’s recipe which is just as good!
So cute having your child pop in :)
You are a great teacher!!!!
Thank you so much! Lachlan LOVED the pie!
This kitchen is EVERYTHING👨🍳🥧🍽️💖☺️
Thank you very much for sharing amazing recipes! ❤ Have a great weekend!
It has to be the best. You’re making it and it is amazing

Hey man my name is Sherman I love the recipes I'm diabetic so I use all your recipes I just use Splenda in the place of sugar it comes out excellent thank you so much
Though I am no cook, I LOVE watching you. Wish I had a piece of that scrumptious cherry pie. All the best to you and yours.
Well done John ND thank you for the amazing recipes
Perfect timing, I was just telling my husband about a tool for pitting cherries and I wil show him this! Your son is so cute and the pies look delicious!
The brush! I'm gonna copy that. And such a darling little well-mannered boy!
I shall definitely try that cherry pie!
My pie is in the oven right now! I'm so nervous because I have never made a pie before, but I have faith!
how’d it turn out?
@drewb0822 it turned out great ! I made it for Christmas Eve, and it was delicious ! I had never made anything like it before, but I managed to somehow get a really nice crust, and the filling was perfectly thick :) this recipe is wonderful and it was the best pie I had ever had even though I'm the one who made it lol. Thanks for asking :)
@@evanlikesjuiceboxes glad to hear, i’m testing a ton of holiday recipes at the moment so i know which ones to make when christmas time rolls around and this comment honestly motivates me to try this recipe lol, thanks for sharing have a nice day🫶
@drewb0822 I know our conversation was weeks ago, but is there any way I can send you photos of the pie ? I am actually really happy someone asked about how the pie turned out because I'm very proud of it
@@evanlikesjuiceboxes of course, what platform would you like to use?
You're so good with explaining everything! Perfect video for beginners like me! Thank you so much!!
It was the lattice top & grandma crimp tip that sold me! Beautiful pie 😍
Omg his kid its like a mini version of him!!! Sooo cute and he's so big! 😍 I've never done cherry pie... now I feel confident about making it.... thanks!
im feeling so nerdy making this because of twin peaks
You and me both 😅😅😅😅😅

@@mafe160893 hahahaha
Same! This was a big hit at our twin peak watch parties
3 million!! Congratulations John!! Xxx
Congratulations on 3 millions subscribers you definitely deserve that and MORE.
When I first noticed this recipe of yours, I simply kept on by-passing it. I thought, Oh No, this again one of those USA cooks who will use store bought cherry tart filling (something that is not available in my country) which means that I cannot make it. I was wrong and appologise. Thank you for making your own filling!
Literally just make your own/ find a recipe for that part online
Sorry, but the beauty of your pie was upstaged by all that cuteness at the end of the video. Thanks.
3 million CONGRATS!
John makes all baking look easy
Just made this. Amazing. Only my second pie. I took extra care to weight the ingredients. I used a little less butter and added leaf lard. It was so flaky! This next weekend, I’m on to John’s Lemon Meringue!
I just subscribed to your channel a couple weeks ago, and I’m loving your videos so far. Great personality and recipes! ❤️
Thank you so much and Welcome to the channel!
I love Cherry 🍒 pie 🥧 it's delicious
I like how you explain the purpose of each ingredient and how it contributes to the final result 👌🏻👌🏻
I love Cherry 🍒 pie 🥧 it's delicious 🤤
I so love your recipes! Can't count how many I use. My dad's favorite pie was cherry !
Thank you John. I often think I know how to make something but check your videos in case you have more information for me.
13:14 A lot of the time, when people say cover the edge with aluminum foil, they don't which side is facing out, so, I'll tell you, you want the shiny side facing out, that reflects the thermal energy coming from the oven away from your pie.
Thanks Jackson Johnson!
It does not matter at all and the whole shiny reflects is a myth
@@Zinnsoldat1991 wrong, heat is a form of radiation, radiation is reflected by foil.
I swear I was looking for this recipe just yesterday! What a crazy perfect timing you have.
