Just made this recipe tonight (and everyone in my household loved it!) As a tip for people planning to make this, you should definitely check your blueberries first that they aren’t too tart and if they are I would for sure recommend lessening the amount of lemon juice in the recipe. Thanks for the video John it was extremely helpful!
I made a blueberry pie today also, shared it with my downstairs elderly neighbor, he's got a sweet tooth like I do (I'm 49 and I still have my sweet tooth). It wasn't this recipe I made today though, I'm gonna make this recipe next time, I bet he'll really like this one. The one I made today is pretty good, but this one will be even better I'm sure

Ive had blue berries in everything from jam to homemade kombucha
And ive never had a blueberry pie! Im from the south and berry pies arent really a big deal but now I want to try one.

I made this today, I love cooking and baking but I had never made pie before, my husband loves pies and I had to boxes of fresh blueberries in the fridge so why not, it turned out DELICIOUS, I have to admit I forgot the lemon zest oooops, I did added the lemon juice though. Really good recipe, thank you.

This was delicious! Just made it and used blackberries, strawberries and blueberries instead and also skipped the zest since I didn’t have a good lemon for that. It was delicious nonetheless, I like that it’s a bit tart because that goes absolutely amazing with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Mouthwatering.

First time viewer, and just in time. My wife's favorite pies are blueberry ones, and it's Mother's Day, so I'm surprising her. Followed this recipe to the letter, and it's in the oven now. So excited to have it tonight. With the leftover dough, I cut them into strips, pressed the strips into sugar, twisted them like bread twists, then topped with parmesan cheese!
I will try this recipe next time I make a blueberry pie. I made one today but it wasn't this one, it's what inspired me to check out a recipe made from scratch though. The one I made today wasn't from scratch, I used canned blueberry pie filling a store bought pre-made pie crust. It's not bad though. But I'm gonna see how good this recipe is next time.

It’s a good recipe. We made an amazing pie, better than what you buy in a bakery. Ive reviewed several recipes, I don’t understand why other recipes only need 2.5 cups floor and less other ingredients. If you’re going to make a 8 inch double crust pie, 5 cups are needed. I tried 2.5 cup recipe and failed, definitely not enough to make 2 crusts. Use this recipe!
I’ve watched so many of his vids since quarantine and I think we need to start memes of John throwing flour and pushing his dishes too far so they fall off his counters 😝

Oh, my I inherited my grandma's pie pans and they are ceramic. Would that change cooking time? I'd love to my grandma back though.
I have thick ceramic deep dish pie plates, and I just bake the pies on the lower rack and haven’t had any issues. I once bake a pie on the second from the bottom rack, and the crust didn’t properly cook :/

I almost prefer a little tart, I’m not a huge fan of rich pies, but my family had the same feedback they didn’t really like it because of the tartness everyone has their own preference I suppose

You should the filling before you cook it and change it to your liking.

I made this recipe last weekend ! It was so good! Mine turned out really lemony so I might try it again but with less lemon juice :). The crust recipe is the best crust I’ve ever made before too! Thank you John!

The first time I made this it tasted like medicine. I hadn’t gotten enough blueberries so half the blueberries sat way too long in lemon juice before baking while I went to buy more. Nervous to try it again, even though it was my mistake. Have you tried it without lemon? I was thinking about using only 1/2 or only using zest. Thoughts? The crust was amazing though.

thanks John, just saw this left open on our laptop, so I know you likely helped my sweetheart and our boys make the wonderful blueberry pie surprise this past Thanksgiving. I lost my mother in 2015 & blueberry pie was a special treat she made just for me. It was nuice to have a wonderful memory bring joy with tears, finally. I thank you for helping my family surpirse me; they did a great job, it was a beautiful pie and it was delicious too, almost as good as my mother's. (& p.s. my Mom called aluminum foil 'tin foil' also) Happy Hoidays to all.

I’m making this tonight by hand, and without completely frozen butter😍😂wish me luck 😬 Edit: I did the dough and it worked well, just a little stickier than his because my butter was softer. I just used a whisk and then my hands lol, for anyone wondering. Almost time to do the filling I’m fricken excited 😂

I'm up to apple number 3 completed. Apple 1 looked awful tasted good. Apple 2 went to my sister. Made her happy. Apple 3 is half in the fridge, I'm wearing the other half. It's all mine. This one was really nice out of the oven, golden brown. I'll be buying a food processor. I wasreally tired of expensive store bought crap, These aren't cheap, but they are delicious.
