I am soo not jealous of that snow!! You are a better woman than I am. I would have cleaned up that dropped tray with a broom and a dust pan. Anything that survived in the compost pile might have gotten planted in the garden later!! You are a good plant mama. Everything I would have suggested is already in the comments below. More light, closer to the seedlings, higher wattage bulb maybe. Good luck with all your seedlings!! They are so healthy and pretty!! I hope they make it until you are able to put them out!! Thanks!! -Lea
I invested in another light and I have it ready and waiting for next snow fall!! I was angry with myself for dropping the tray I had to make sure I'd never do it again!! Sifting through all the seed starting mix for the beans and placing them in the *correct* cup was my punishment!! LOL!!
Sorry about the snow. You've got a lot of stuff started, looks good. They are just stretching for more light. They'll be happier when it warms up and their outside. I'm dropping stuff all the time costing myself more work. I dropped a whole homemade pizza face down a couple weeks ago, I almost cried.
I was finally able to get them in the greenhouse, I hope they are able to bounce back! LOL!! I'm infamous for dropping things!!! Seems like we have something in common there!
I agree the light has to be closer to the plants. My kitchen table is full of plants and I have them all over my living room floor !!! I Have company coming on Thursday so I have to put them back in the greenhouse !!! Don't you just love the snow !!!
Oh, good luck with Thursday!! I've been playing musical chairs with these seedlings for the past two weeks!!! We just had hail today!! I'm soo glad I didn't put anything in the garden yet!! I hope weather in your neck of the woods is going better then here!!
Yeah I agree with others' comments about bringing the light closer. Could you also set up another station with a light? This year I had some seedlings indoors under a florescent grow light which was not enough space, and then I found the heat lamp I used for chicks and changed the bulb to a 72 watt halogen. The ones under the halogen light grew better and had deeper green leaves than the ones under the florescent. You don't necessarily need to make a set-up with the cardboard and all that other stuff; this is just for an emergency, for the time-being. You could even put them on the floor. I remember you had a lamp in the room with the worms. That might work. It's good that you're doing the rotation thing, but then you have to make sure that the ones you're rotating out are still getting some kind of light. Can you maybe put some of them on a window sill? The good thing is that you can actually adjust the depth of planting when you plant them out into the ground (just like the tomatoes and peppers). Otherwise, they are really not as bad as you think (I've done worse even this year!) Anyway, the winter WILL end soon, I promise! Just hold on, sister! In the meantime, stay warm.
Deborah Christmas, I didn't even think of the that!!!!!! LOL!!! That would work!!! It finally warmed up so I got them in the greenhouse. I may have enough time to troubleshoot warming it for when or if we have another frost/freeze. I will let you know how it goes!!
Hope they are able to bounce back for you. lol I used to start in doors too , but this year everything I direct sowed outside, because last year I dropped a tray too 😂😂
Little Bean's Garden, the ever dreadful dropped seed starting tray!! If we had a few extra months of warm weather I'd be right with you in direct sowing the entire garden!! Stay well!!
Hello, Well I don't know anything about the SNOW, But I was thinking Maybe Deborah Christmas can help, But, Your plants looks very healthy. I know you will find the solution. Tfs
I just dropped some celery starts *sigh* know how you feel. At least I was able to salvage some of them, looks like you did too! Everyone has already told you about the light....I have such a hard time with starting seeds indoors....my house is so dark and even with the grow light I have its not enough. Gonna have to figure out a better system next year. Take care
Isn't dropping a tray of seedlings the pits?!? I'm not sure if I put the right beans in the correct cups but while I was sifting through the seed starting mix I realized they are all edible and I didn't care!! LOL!! I'm going to move this production into the basement because it's gotten out of hand in the dining room (keeping the little one fingers out of the pots has become quite a challenge and my husband is about to loose his mind). I'm currently looking into other affordable lighting options. I'll make sure to give you a heads up if I find anything promising.
Good luck my friend. I think you have gotten the information. More light and it looks like you have gotten too excited to grow. Too many starts and too soon. Have a great evening. Best wishes Bob.

It is so hard to grow things inside they look good though .
You are so right! Growing this inside seemed easier but it's bring forth a new set of challenges. Thanks for watching and stay well!
