Those roots are crazy! LOL Mr. Roots said only 5 minutes, for us gardeners that means about 30 minutes. So happy to know he takes good care of you , by limiting the sun exposure. Hope you get a great harvest from those pepper plants.
Little Bean, I was not expecting those roots to be so prolific as they were!! I thought they were crazy as well!! You are so right, 5 mins is 30 mins, and 30 mins is a hour and a half!! LOL!! He did show up right after I was done recording and about to water the peppers!!
Hey CB, I was so afraid that would have harmed those wonderful roots!! Luckily I didn't damage them too much!! I'm finding out that plants are fascinating and I'm learning new things everyday!! Stay well my friend!!
Cool on the pepper plants... Most plants will do the same if given time. As long as there is holes in the container and they are touching soil. Things will do what the much to survive. T
You are the consummate plant hero! I loved watching your valiant effort to liberate those roots out of the plastic cup. BTW, that does seem like a chili pepper of some kind. The root systems on those were amazingly robust. They will do well for you to be sure! Changing the subject: Try taking a Magnesium supplement to help with your back pain. Often when we experience prolonged unexplained pain it's because we are Mg deficient.
Oh Deborah, thank you!! Those poor plants have been neglected by me since they were hardened off!! I'm sure they would have been much bigger if I would have gotten them in the ground sooner. But those little buggers are fighters!! LOL!! Magnesium supplements have made the shopping list!!! I'm was looking into alternative ways of dealing with the pain outside of those prescription drugs..
aww aren't you so gentle lol I can't wait to see you enthusiasm when you pull the plants at the end of the season those roots will be huge. if it were me I'd save seeds from that pepper if it shows that it has good genetics for your area. so far it seems to be disease resistant and a vigorous grower if it stays that way and you like the resulting peppers it may prove to be a winner in your garden for years to come. you'll find as you go along some plants do better than others simply because of the environment. for future reference if you accidentally sever those roots not to worry they grow back, those roots did that because plants naturally try to care for themselves. just like if you were in the desert you'd do what you could to find food and water. plants do the same and when they find it they send out more and more roots to stay alive to produce fruit and seed to continue the process. I think you've found one of my favorite parts of gardening, watching nature do is miraculous thing.
LOL!! Yeah, I was a little overly enthusiastic!! You are so right, I should save those seeds. Those darn pepper plants are some real troopers. They've been in those cups and in that spot since the beginning of June and survived!!! I should also take a look at what plants are thriving and save those seeds as well!! Sage advice, thanks!!

Many plants will find a way to grow and live, I would love to see the growth of those two peppers..Tfs
Hey Linda, no need to worry I will keep you informed, for sure!! Stay well and God bless!
Good job done! Yeah I would have removed the cup also. Amazing what a plant will do to survive.
