Thank you Larieta!! It is Too Much Work!! Not to mention when you are hot, sweaty, and sticky the straw sticks to you and makes you itchy!!! I only did one bale of hay and it took me over a week to do that.. I have one more bale to go and I need to put it down but I'm not looking forward to that experience at all!!! Thanks for watching and stay well!!! ~Nika

I need some of that $3.00 a bale straw!! The hay I buy is $6.00. I don't even bother turning the camera around!! Especially when I've been out in the garden working. Hot mess doesn't even come close, lol!! Sweaty, nasty, and dirt covered!! That's the way i like to be during the summer!! Your garden is looking great!! I'm jealous of your peas!! Ours didn't do much this year, and I absolutely love them!! Thanks!! -Lea

LOL!! Thanks Lea!! Wood chips are so hard to find around here but straw and hay offers were everywhere a few months ago. Now, there isn't a bale to found!! (Lesson learned!!) I think my peas are growing to spite me!! I haven't followed any of the online/literature I've read on growing them!! (I'm trying to document it but I'm not doing such a good job!) Stay well!! Chicken dirt!! Quail Yeah!! LOL!! Loved it!!!

Your beds are looking lovely! Your little helper is so adorable... No need to ever go to the beauty shop to get my hair done because by the time I come in from the garden (daily) my hair looks like I've been swimming, I go through a ton of cleansing conditioners... (LOL) Oh well, I love gardening! I'm glad you are feeling better. Happy Gardening! :)

Lovers4healthylife, I hear you!!! That's exactly what happens to me!! I was just a little annoyed by those channels that make it look like you gardening doesn't make you sweat!!

Your garden is looking awesome! I understand about finding straw or wood chips...I have been hard pressed to find some as well. Which is why my garden looks like a jungle!! Keep,up the good work! Take care!

Thanks Sheps4her!! Looks like you tamed your jungle with a merciless weedwacking!! LOL!! I've learned to strike while the iron is hot when it comes to the wood chips/straw otherwise I'll end up spending twice as much at a big box store!!

Itchy everywhere, that means you are doing it right. ;) Seriously though, I never leave the garden looking human. If I did, I would feel like I didn't do anything.

Great radish harvest! Lol, there is a reason I don't show my face while recording the garden! When I work in the garden I look like the crazy cat lady, who turned mad scientist, who ran a marathon, and has warrior marks on the face made with dirt 😂😂😂 oh and let's not call the fashion police on me while in the garden, because I would be found so guilty! You looked great though, oh and the co-host seemed to have a blast, and that my friend is what matters 😉

LOL!! It's so good to know that I'm not the only one!! I'm usually dressed in the most obnoxious 'get ups' and I'm usually mad hair lady!!

You are so funny! Gardening is hard sweaty work and I always look messy out there! I must say that I do put a little more effort (bra on, hair pulled back) when I'm working in the front yard, but in the back, I pray no one stops over unexpectedly!! But your garden is looking pretty!

I just needed to put it out there!!! I look like something the cat brought in when I'm done with the garden chores.. I'm relieved to know I'm not alone!!

Wow, what a deal/steal @ $3 a bale?!! I gotta take a drive to Minnesota--LOL!!! I usually get mine at about $8 to $10 each at Agway. So, yeah, you live, you learn. Straw is most abundant in the fall when it's harvested and it won't wait for you. Another source might be Freecycle. Ask for spoiled hay or straw; you should be able to get that for free since it's generally unusable by animal farmers. Also around after Halloween and Thanksgiving people are ready to get rid of those decorative bales. You might find a lot of those on the curb or if you're bold, just ask your neighbors if you can take them. I'm sure most of them will be glad not to have to think about hauling that thing again and that it won't be going into a landfill.
Things are progressing so nicely. I'm really impressed, my friend. Between you, Mr Roots and the Co-host/helper, y'all are gettin' it DONE!! And BTW, your co-host has good straw-spreading technique. Good job, all of you!

See!! That's what I thought!! There's usually a vast amount of straw/hay everywhere and so cheap/easy to obtain. Rest assured that next season I'll get in on the bounty and store it in the barn!! Thank you so much for the compliment!! It means so much coming from you, you have no idea!! Stay well, my friend!!

Do you have a Southern States Farm Supply near you? This is where I got my 75 bales from to grow in my outside garden this year. $5.00 bucks per bale and it was Rye Straw. I see at the end you found some on craigslist. What kind of bales were they? Love your garden boxes! Looks like they will do you a great job! I agree with BobMels on way to many fake peeps out there. I am not organic and never claimed to be! We have to do what we need to get the job done! Keep up the great work!

people that do that are like the people in Hollywood. they have minions that keep them looking a certain way and they do nothing. somebody else does the heavy lifting. for instance the other day I was watering and checking everything. by the time I got done I was wringing wet with sweat. I mean wet tshirt contest wet. my neighbor was like hey how are you when I turned towards him he looked like he saw a ghost. at the time I didn't know why I said I'm good how are you? he said fine in a hushed tone. when I went in the house and saw myself I realized why he looked that way lol I was a complete mess and he'd never seen me looking that bad lmao. I hollered when you said prevening I love big bang

LOL!! That was me when I was filming this episode!! Straw everywhere!! I was scratching everything (and I mean everything everywhere!!). I had dirt and bits of straw in every crevice of my body!! I just needed to put it out there!!

Girl please, you look good to be out in the garden working. My shirt would've been soaked and wet from sweating. Hair covered with a scarf looking like somebody's long lost grandmamma. Plus there would be no way in the HEE HAW... (you know what) that I would've turned the camera around. I know of a few of those channels and I decided to unsubscribe and stop watching. Then the others, who don't ever seem to have any failures in gardening. Glad you were able to score a good deal on the straw and the garden is looking good. T

LOL!! Gardening Addict, Lord knows I should have had a scarf on or a my satin bonnet because I was picking straw out of my hair for a week!!!! LOL!! Yeah, I'm with you on unsubscribing. Now that I'm actually getting my hands dirty I'm quickly realizing how "unreal" some of these channels are!!
