I love "The Garden Sisters" You have a Giving heart.. Everything looks great! When everything gets in full bloom it will be Beautiful!!. I'm looking forward to seeing This Beautiful Garden!! Tfs
Oh it's finally really starting to come together for you! I love it! Now the if the weather would cooperate for you... You probably still have time to replant some sunflowers if those don't make it. You will find that sunflowers that are direct-seeded into the ground will do much better than the ones started indoors; they are also a lot more hardy and can handle weather fluctuations without a hitch. So the rhubarb, like Bob said, pull those rusty leaves before the spores really spread and ruin everything; do not compost, just toss them in the regular garbage or burn them. You can probably eat the stem if it doesn't look spotty. And by all means, you should pull that energy-draining flower stem ASAP. No biggie; just grab the stem and pull it off. I'm excited for your 17 beds and your free compost! And I love that you are making a community effort by allowing your neighbor to garden with you--you're so nice! I hope all work together for you. Blessings!
Hi Deborah, I'm all over the rhubarb!! It looks like I picked it to death (poor plant)!! I was able to put some away in the freezer and I'm excited to use it in some recipes I got from online. That's good to know about sunflowers!! I'll plant some right away!! My neighbor mentioned she wanted to garden and I have enough space for us both, I just hope she takes me up on the offer!! Stay well!!
ROTFL at "I have a problem", welcome to the club. The addition is real when it comes to gardening. I'm at 17 raised beds myself, but it happen gradually. Best of luck on your newly planted garden. T
Thanks T!!! I started slowly with the seeds buying anything and everything that looked good or interesting.. Then it took off when it came time to start them indoors!! OVER 60 TOMATOES AND PEPPERS!! Seriously!?!?! I think I need professional help!!! LOL!!
Your garden and raised beds looks amazing and I love your greenhouse. You guys have done a lot within a year. Blessings & Happy Gardening :) Peaches Ps. You are a true gardening when you go overboard with seeds and plants... (LOL)
Lovers4healthylife, I thought for sure I had some type of clinical issue because I couldn't stop myself!!! LOL!! Seems like I'm in good company!! Stay well!!
Welcome to going overboard in the garden. I think you should pull the rhubarb leaves that have the rust on them and get them out of there. If it is rust I think it will spread. You are not killing them you are just sending them to the afterlife. I do like using raised beds. Sounds like it could be fun to have a gardening sister. Have a great day. Best wishes Bob.
Yep, I went overboard!!! I'm a proud member of that club!! LOL!! I took your advice and gave the rhubarb a much needed trim. I got rid of all the overly infected stalks and saved/stored the ones that looked healthy!! Thanks so much for the advice!! Stay well!!
Hi Little Bean's Garden, I love the idea also. She mentioned wanting to and I freely offered for her to come on by!! I have ample space for both of us to grow!!! I'll let you know if she takes me up on the offer!!!
I do wish you luck and joy of gardening. You are right, the boards probably will only last a short time. I use block and like it. Your gardening space is wonderful. What zone are you in? Raining and chilly hear in Wisconsin. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to your updates.
I was patiently waiting and I've been rewarded! as for the gopher, gopher stew tonight! lol its looking good you did great keeping the cost down so many spend a fortune the first year.
DevaJones03, thanks for waiting.. I've been trying to do this tour for weeks!!! When I priced the items on my list of "things needed to start a garden" the total cost almost made me choke!!! I'm all about saving my little pennies!!!
Nery Colon 1, thanks!! I've been watching your channel and getting inspired by your containers... I've been thinking about taking a few ideas from your garden in order to add a little color.
Sure no problem. They say that you can't grow in plastic containers. Yet mine are 4 years old and never had a problem with them. That shows that even me in a wheelchair can do gardening. lol By gardening you eat healthier, save money on grocery, and you get the satisfied felling when you harvest. That's the best part.
