Using A $16 Sub pump to Water my Garden
HTML-код

- Before this new setup I would fill up gallon jugs and watering cans and water the garden by hand.. It was a painstaking production and I dreaded it!!! The only outside water source is really far away and to pipe it into the garden would be an even bigger hassle... Using the sub-pump has made it less of a chore... If you find yourself lugging around 5 gallon buckets, gallon jugs, or watering cans for over an hour, might I suggest getting a sub-pump!! Stay well my friends!!
Thanks you so much for watching and stay well!!! Feel free to leave a message bellow or contact me via email back2myrootshomestead@gmail.com or friend me on facebook / backtomyrootshomestead
I created this video with the RUclips Video Editor ( / editor )
Thank you soooooooo much. You don't know how much this is information just saved me time and money. I have been searching all over the web to find a simple way to water a 2 acre Pepper farm and just found the best information ever. I wish I can meet you in person and carry you all over the world and not put you down. Thank, thank you, and thank you.
Hey they have inline hose filters and quick connectors on Amazon. But pantholes over the bottom of the pump will.stop debri will work in a pinch
All my hose has shut off valves connected. It shoots up the water quite far and good spread of water with no pressure interference.
Wondering if the pump will get damage if I shut off the outflow valve in few intervals.
You should attach some fine mesh filter material to the bottom of your subpump to prevent any bits being sucked in and blocking your Sprayer 😉....Great idea btw to use a sub pump in the water barrels 👍🏼
Very good video!
Ingenious solution! I bet the plants were happy! 🌱🌾☔🌊
That is what I use when I clean my goldfish pond . I never thought about using it in my rain barrel !!! You just saved me a lot of work !!! Thanks for sharing !!!
Janie2Shoes, I'm so glad to hear that you found this useful.
I was just told by doctor I can't lift much wright. You are a God send. Thank you for your great cider and information. Genius!
*This would REALLY help me!* Cuz my well is super deep (over 375 feet) and water comes out too cold! _l notice big difference in the plants from using cold well water and warm rain water._ Now l know how to get water out of a rain barrel to the plants! *Thanks!*
yes fine mesh screen on the bottom of your pump and maybe see if you can rise it off the bottom of the barre too a couple of inches.
THANKS FOR SHARING!
If you remove that head can you clean it? Find bottom, then raise pump up 6 inches, or get a pump that hooks to hose, has auto shutoff
Very nice set up. Lovely garden.
I like what you’ve got going on. I’m thinking you could put one of those cheap remote control modules for Christmas lights on your power supply and control turning your pump on and off that way.
Great idea!!
Get you a paint strainer bag from Lowes and put it over your pump to keep the small junk from passing through. I also hand water my hole garden but I plan to change that this winter when I revamp my setup. Everything is looking good in your garden! Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing with us. :-)
CB's Greenhouse and Garden, a paint strainer, that's a wonderful idea!!! I'll get one when I'm 'in town'!! I had to change things up otherwise I think I would have thrown in the towel. I'm interested in what you have planned for your new water system. Stay well!!
@@back2myrootshomestead525 Either that or an inline pressure washer filter screen, they're a bit more expensive but relatively easy to clean
yeah, the whole pump in a screen bag is genius. they also make inline filters you can attach the hose to.
Thank u for this I was looking at waaay more expensive options and this will more than meet my needs
Great idea with submersible pump but I'm wondering if you had any pump problems like overheating or not working when you have a nozzle attached to the garden hose? Especially when the pump is plugged in and you are not spraying any water or letting any water flow out?
I'm wondering the same. Any answers to this yet please?
I'm thinking it will be OK for short periods of time but you don't want to leave it hooked up you'll dead head the pump it will burn out but for $16 oh well
@@matprang4508 Yes, you are right, deadheading a pump is not good for the pump. I read the comments just to see if someone was going to mention this fact. They should be using an on-demand pump that has a pressure switch.
Awesome! Thank you! Love your garden.
Very nice watering setup. Have a great weekend!
This was well presented and informative, but where can you buy a sump pump for $16.00? I gave you a thumbs up, enjoyed seeing and hearing about your garden. thanks...
Very cool THANK YOU FOR SHARING.
Good video!.
Nice pump and nice price. Could you please post the link of store for the pump? I would like to change my pump. Thanks!
oh yeah you can get a shutoff ball valve for the sprayer end of the hose also.
Thank you for sharing my life will be a lot easier now
you have given me idear,to use same idear but to clean my roof, time saver
And btw, everything looks marvelous! Keep up the good work.
Aww, shucks!! Thanks!! (*Blush*)
Put a inline water filter on your garden hose and that will prevent the clogging of the sprayer. Course you will have to occasionally clean the filter but that is fairly easy to do!
Genius! I need to do this at the community garden across the street. My feet scream in pain whenever I have to go back and forth 20 times to water all the plots. I have to see if I can get a battery-powered sump pump.
Deborah Christmas, I hear you!! Trudging back and forth while carrying gallons of water doesn't make a happy gardener. I hope this helps and/or makes watering the garden a little easier. Stay well my friend!
Sump pumps are great.
What a great idea!
This is what I've been looking for to get the water out my rain barrel..prob is my rain barrel is not open entirely it only has 2 holes that seem to b screwed together with another piece
Please tell me the name of this sump pump? Thanks for sharing! Two thumps up!
Excellent video ...
Girl you have given me an idea! Lol that screw in the middle of your spray gun unscrew it and you can clean behind there to unclog it.
DevaJones03, I was thinking about you when I made the video. With this drought I was about to give up on watering before we got the sub-pump. It's still a hassle but at least now it's not such a chore. Hope this helps.
Back2myroots Homestead girl you know I be out there toting water like a Hebrew slave! I think I'm going to put drip tape in every bed though it will be am interesting project that's for sure, and save me time. Takes me about 45 minutes to water everything currently.
ROFL!!
Could you find a better place to store your garden weasel?
Such a beautiful garden!
Thumbs up Nikka? (sp) Great set up, glad you came up with something.. wouldn't want all your hard work on the garden to suffer because you had to continue hauling water. T
Hi T, hauling water was the bane of my gardening existence and I couldn't take it any more... This was a cheap and reasonable way to resolve the issue.. So far so good.. Stay well!
3:30 I got scared for a second lmao
You could use a quick connect with a shutoff
I like this idea, but mosquitos from an open lid and other critters. I think I will run both, the electrical cord and output through holes. That is great! Thank you!
Save time and good idea and continue
They make fittings that scew onto the pump that alow you to connect the 1/2in via a 1/2 drip line connecting coupler
What's name of sub pump please
Hi, I have a made a similar setup but I bought a wrong pump since it doesn't fit a garden hose. Please let me know what pump you are using or recommend me what submersible pump to buy.
Is there a link to that particular sub pump?
Keep ur. Source. Well water. Clean. 😢. . And u may ise an. “On. Demand pump. Aso when u stop. Watering the pump stops
Great idea! Can you put a link to the pump? where did you buy it from?
I'll try to find it a link.. It was a "return" at Menards we were able to snag at a deal...
Do you have a link for the sump pump purchase
Love it!
What is the name of this pump? And where can I buy it
Please list the sump pump you used
Should be plugged into a GFCI
Anyone have a link to a reducer from pump to garden hose?
Where didyou bought the pump from?
Where exactly can I purchase one of these pumps??
Looks like this is the pump she's using but it's not $16 - it's $48.94. It's available at Menard's.

Where can I get the pump from ?
What kind of sump pump do you have and where can I purchase
thanks!
great idea, thanks
Do you know how many watts the pump uses?
What kind of pump is that?
is the pressure good enough to run an impact (tisk tisk tisk tisk) style sprinkler?
No.
What hp rating is your pump?
This thing probably has about 100Watts of power
I thought about doing the same thing but was too concerned about the oil used in the pumps. Are you not concerned about that? There are oil less ones but they are 5x the price and from the reviews I've seen don't last very long.
The oil is very minimal and doesn't do the pump any good if it doesn't remain in the pump. A one minute first time flush would be sufficient.
What is the model # of this so called 16 dollar pump?
I like you! Great video!
Where did you get the pump for 16.00? Thank you
Rick RBMods $16.00 where and what’s the model number and manufacturer
I wat to fix
Motor mujhe chaiye
Hopefully that outlet is gfci protected
Don't do it !!!! my neighbor killed all his pond fish using a sub pump. They can break and send oil through your water system.
SUMP PUMP Not sub pump.
That’s a utility pump and that is not $16
Why do these DIY'ers share such great ideas and then not tell you what they are using? We're just supposed to be in awe of how smart and creative "they" are. Give them a round of applause. Wake up. It's not about you being a star. It's about helping others.
