    Sweet harvest; what a bounty of fresh vegetables! That beautiful red leaf plant is a type of calaloo or Amaranth; the seeds are protein and iron-rich. The leaves are nutrient-packed and I know that Garden City likes to cook them up in an omelet.
    What, no more KALE??!!! Heaven forbid! I would say let it stay for later in the winter. Believe me, you WILL be craving some home-grown fresh greens in the middle of January. Also, the flavor of most brassicas is greatly improved and sweetened by frost. Nothing like a nice pot of home-grown collards and kale at the Thanksgiving meal. Just sayin'...
    Yay. composting in place! that's awesome--nothing goes to waste!
    Keep it up, girl! Blessings.

      LOL!!! I should have checked my messages before I got to pulling!!! I just remembered one of your cooking videos when you picked something after the frost hit it and I wanted mouth started watering. I'll be sure to do it next year!!!

      Janie2Shoes, I'm with you on the amount of work that needs to be done before winter. I hope I get at least 3 more good weeks of growing weather before I have to close up shop. Thanks for swinging by.

    Your garden looks great and is still producing tons of veggies! I left a couple of tomatoes plants to do their own thing and they are producing more fruit than the plants I prune. Go figure... Happy Gardening! :) Peaches

      lovers4healthylife, I'm a little intimidated by the size of tomato plants and may have to look up pruning methods. I only pruned the lower branches for air flow and left everything else alone.

    Your garden looks beautiful!! I want to get a dehydrator for our herbs. I keep saying that I'm going to do it, but I haven't yet. I'd love to have some basil and sage saved up to use during the winter. We're like you, we eat more of our sugar snaps standing in the yard than in a meal. Thanks!! -Lea

    I wish my tomatoes looked like that my first year. You'll get the idea of tying them up or doing like praxxus does he lets them grow how they do natively with no issues. How fid that tiger melon taste? I want to grow those.

    • @back2myrootshomestead525
      @back2myrootshomestead525  7 лет назад +1

      DevaJones03 I'll have to do something because the tomatoes are out of control!! If you want tiger melon seeds, let me know, I'll send you some. I think they tastes like a honeydew and a cantaloupe had a baby.

      Back2myroots Homestead yes please! Lol My tomatoes are currently a jungle as well. I've just relented in trying to control them.
