Probably one of the cooler things after that end of season Pats game was John Madden calling Tom Coughlin's office phone and leaving him a voicemail the following Sunday morning (they played Sat night). The sheer respect that John had for the game and also praising Coughlin and the entire Giants squad for not resting their players, but playing the game to win like every team should every Sunday afternoon. This game is really tense throughout. And the Gmen took the NFC championship by a field goal and upsetting the Pats in Super Bowl 42. You love to see it.
Its amazing , all the big kicks, Giants have been involved in over the years, here, the Norwood miss in SB XXV against the Bills, the week before against the 49ers Matt Bahr, winning the 2011 nfc champ, on a kick after recovering a fumble; they have been very fortunate
Yea people don’t understand this. Those runs was so special because Eli played his greatest in 07 and 11. Sure for most seasons he wasn’t elite but it’s idiot to say that without those wins he doesn’t get into the hall of fame because he played just as good as any qb ever played for those playoff runs.
@@RomanoLemm Chances are this "son" has been watching football longer than you have been alive. How did the Patriots get to 18-0? Was it scoring 14 points per game? Then in the playoffs, Eli leads the Giants to fewer points and is called the hero in a low scoring game? Please tell me you understand how this just doesn't make sense.
@@tomknapp6194 grandpa, if you seem to know so much about football (quality over quantity btw.), I pray you have realised at some point the difference between regular season football and playoff football. those are two separate pair of shoes. patriots were also stellar on defense that year, as they were most years with brady but who am I telling, football guy already knows that (btw., eli put up the most points on them in a single game that year, by a touchdown). so let's say the 07 season was won by chance and a great defense. Look for a podcast from Plaxico. He's very articulate, eloquent, and an easy listen. Anyway, love this whole team forever.
2008: Giants beating the No 1 seed Cowboys and No. 2 seed Packers in one of the coldest games of all time...and beating the team that would have been crowned the greatest of all time - the almost 19-0 Patriots - is the greatest post season run in NFL History. Not to mention the greatest play in SB history. Historic and legendary.
If it’s a Giants-49ers playoff in SF, something crazy is gonna happen. 1990: most physical game ever. Marshall mimics Burt’s attempted homicide of Montana from 4 years previous. Reasons Fake punt, Craig fumble. Hostetler hangs in there after Burt’s (now with SF) cheap shot. Bahr FG. Giant Upset. 1993: 44-3. Ricky Watters. Shocking for LT and Simms to get blown out like that in last game of their careers. 2002: Bar-room brawl. 2011: Another punishing defensive game. Muffed punt. Eli hangs in there after having his face drilled in the mud. Another muffed punt. LT3 FG. Another Giant upset.
Eli didn't just get sacked, he got sacked by College Football National Champion, Super Bowl Champion, Ryder Cup Champion, All-time leading tackler of the Packers AJ HAWK!!!!!!
I can't help but feel bad for the Packers in the playoffs so much bad luck. My top 3 are the 2007 Nfc championship, 2014 nfc championship and 2022 divisional. To get so close just to have the opportunity yanked away in the most mind boggling ways. Great game and documentary 👍👍
This is why you watch all those games, to find that rare combination of heart and talent that takes your team all the way. The Parcells SB teams were dominant start to finish, not the 2000 Giants. 10-6 and 9-7. These teams were inconsistent and could break at any moment, but they didn't. They had two playoff runs that were historic, amazing, some of the greatest football I've ever seen.
I can't imagine tackling Brandon Jacob's luckily nick Barnett and aj hawk were stout enough to keep us in this game and our offensive line on the interior cost us this game
After watching them lose another playoff game they should've won, as a fan, I don't even know why I'm here. Blessed with two legends and did nothing but underachieve over the last 27 years...
The fact that Brett farve told his teammates not to wear long John's or sleeves for protection against the sub freezing temperatures was sickening and saying that gloves were not used either by receiver's cost. Them many receptions and the game i blame Brett farve and nobody else
This one is up there with the Jan 1991 Championship against SF. It was insanely bitter cold here in Michigan that day as I watched these men play in even colder weather a bit to my west, and I was so happy to be indoors chilling with my cats and drinking coffee instead of getting frostbite.
I just returned from a deployment in Afghanistan a couple of months prior and was stationed at Fort Drum. The weather there that day was about the same as in Green Bay. I didn’t think that the Giants, my favorite team, had a chance to beat GB. This was a typical Giants team, strong defense with just enough offense to keep us fans from having a heart attack. I didn’t have any confidence in Tynes before he kicked that game winning field goal, but it was Party Tynes when it was true.
For me the 2007 NFC championship was just something that i never on earth imagined we could've achieved until we did. Cause the Packers and the Cowboys were both the best NFC' teams, Eli didnt have any playoff game where he passed the 200 yrds untill this game at Green Bay. The stars were alined in this season for us become champions, because we were not the best team at all.
Al Harris just had an impossible match up on Plax, Eli, and an icy mess. Leverage, timing, and turf...he had no chance. And looking back....boy is this a typical McCarthy game, lol.
Mr. McDowell, did you happen to catch the professional football game on television last night?...Oh sir, the Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And at the end the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory.
I wasn’t a giants fan, but I was 8 as well when this game was played and can remember exactly where I was during the pats/giants super bowl. Was rooting for the giants.
Born and raised in Green Bay, WI . I played QB growing up in high school then in college , the highest compliment you could receive growing up playing quarterback in Wisconsin is you reminded someone as “Brett Favre”. My Dad was my coach growing up and had that old school approach when the weather got cold it meant I better not be wearing long sleeves and we damn sure better win the game that day. Brett Favre’s win/loss record in the cold at home was amazing at the time! I was down in Iowa for my Freshman year of college, after finishing my first season. 2 of my WR’s and three offensive lineman were from New York. I was the only player on our team from Wisconsin besides our punter lol. I had just been given a BRAND NEW flat screen LED TV (all legal if the NCAA asks lol), so I invited about 13 of my teammates over , 12 black guys from New York, Texas, Los Angeles and then myself and the little white punter. Lol I had about 12 different bets on this game. Never thought in a MILLION years the Packers would lose. It would be too perfect for Favre to win one more just like Elway did on his way out. I never had so much fun , kicking it with my team and my guys but yet felt so sick after it all ended. People in the media who have no clue about the game of football itself want to yell and scream about “diversity” and all this other BS. Trust me man with out the game of football my path would have never crossed paths with these inner city kids , and we were both blessed to meet one another. White men possess and excel at certain things in sport and life and black men possess and excel at others it’s the combination of them that make truely GREAT teams. Great , great coaches are a higher percentage white, why? Because most of the guys are about 5’6” tall and maybe played the game but we’re not gifted the size to do anything with their knowledge of the game so they figure out real early they will find most success in coaching . Most black young men don’t lack the athletic capabilities but grow up most times without father figures , guidance or structure …. When these two can mesh and feed of another everyone benefits . The GREAT quarterbacks or any QBs for that matter will largely remain white, kickers, punters, same situation. Running backs , WRs defense will remain highly athletic positions and remains predominantly black. There will ALWAYS be crossovers , and as our society changes over the next few decades hopefully it’s an equal mix everywhere . You have your Patrick Mahomes half white half black , you Have Christian Mccaffrey , Cooper Kupp, Travis Kelsey. No one gives the NFL credit for this but there was a MAJOR reverse racism card being pulled in the 80s/90s2000’s NFL, scouts and GMS would not seriously scout white WRs, RBs or even Tight Ends. How can white people outnumber blacks 3 to 1 but blacks out number whites 3 to 1 in the NFL? Thank God for the JJ Watts, TJ Watts, Nick and Joey Bosas, Jordy Nelson’s, Cooper Kupps and Christian McCaffreys, I just hope CJ Stroud, and the other Black QB coming out of the draft this year can cement their names now. I have never been sold on Lamar and am afraid his career may be ok a downward spiral
The throw to Manningham, the plex connection, 10 road wins in a row, beats the perfect Pats....! And some say Eli is NOT a 1st ballot HOFer.... They're haters or ........... They just didn't watch
Kickers and defensive backs have to have a short memory. That said... what an incredible kick, in that weather, in that game, with all the pressure on. Justin Tucker couldn't have kicked that last one better.
Watching this again. One of the announcers commented "playing this NY Giants team is like going to the dentist and having teeth pulled without Novocaine." 😂😅😅
Giant defensive line + were the real MVP's. This was no fluke. Brady was subpar missing receivers many times because pressure and pounding took its toll and effected greatly his play. If not for wes Walker who knew how to get open, catch the ball, and run with it, it would have been even more one sided in favor of giants defense. Also, patriot defense was not too good against weak giant offense with eli manning.
I remember watching this game as a kid in 08 Brett Favre last game then he left to the Vikings to have a hell of a run. Everyone thought we wasent going to make it to A playoffs game with Aaron Rodgers little did they know 2 years later we would win the Superbowl. I know Giants fans know the play and don't need a description, BUT HOW IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST PLAYS IN GIANTS HISTORY CONTINUOUSLY OVERLOOKED!!!
RESPECT STEVE SMITH!!!
That play is so overlooked.
That was huge.
Video here: ruclips.net/video/Rv6R5UrnB3o/видео.html
Skip to the 21:30 mark to hear the voicemail he left Tom Coughlin.
The guys that played with bare arms that day are the real heroes
I remember this season still, its amazing the parts you dont see
For real nostalgic time flies wish my packers won but maybe blessing cause we would of lost to patriots and never would of had Rodgers win ring in 2010 when we got revenge vs giants beating them getting in the playoffs and knocking them out
This is one of my best childhood memories this season was one of the best Superbowl runs of all time. That NFC championship game was the greatest NFC championship game in my eyes because of how Brandon Jacobs just took Charles woodson's soul and the whole game was just epic. This is my ice bowl.
Giants had the blueprint of beating Tom Brady: Pressure by the front 7.
They rushed 4, dropped 7.
If it was that easy, why did the Patriots go 18-0?
@@tomknapp6194wonder if favre doesn't retire if they make super bowl that Brandon Jacobs play intimidated me watching lmao even though woodson a OG and al Harris was shocked how bad he played vs plaxico
33:38 Pierce showing off his HC skills. Broke down that one pretty nicely.
The Brandon Jackson play ? Ya saved touchdown
Great game. Great team. As a Cowboys fan after the Giants knocked them out and the Giants made it to the Super Bowl... I've never rooted for my arch rival more than I did for the Giants against the Patrots in Super Bowl 42.
This was a great game but that 2011 playoff game against the 49ers was crazier
This game is really tense throughout. And the Gmen took the NFC championship by a field goal and upsetting the Pats in Super Bowl 42. You love to see it.
Nostalgia ..I remembered sitting on the edge of my bed watching this game..Eli was a trooper in both Super Bowl run !!!
Man, this was GREAT.. Its like watching a favorite old movie,,, Burress, Eli, the whole damn defense... Coughlin... just Awesome.. ty for this!!
Its amazing , all the big kicks, Giants have been involved in over the years, here, the Norwood miss in SB XXV against the Bills, the week before against the 49ers Matt Bahr, winning the 2011 nfc champ, on a kick after recovering a fumble; they have been very fortunate
@JeffKehlert-rz5xu saw Brandon Jacobs tonight reminded me running over woodson in minus 20 must have been burtsl
Playoff-Eli was something else..miss that guy being under center. for big blue
Wrong. The defense stepped up. In those 8 games, if just an average team showed up, with what Eli put up for points would be blowouts.
@@tomknapp6194 just an average team? how about the 18-0 Patriots? good enough for you son?
@@RomanoLemm Chances are this "son" has been watching football longer than you have been alive.
How did the Patriots get to 18-0? Was it scoring 14 points per game? No, they averaged 37 points per game. And just a few weeks earlier, they put up 38 on that same Giants defense.
I guess the same will be said about the 11 run by salty massholes?
Mike McCarthy when Brett made the interception was hilarious.
“Look in my eyes. That’s the eyes of a champion, we gonna win to-damn-day.”
Eli Manning: 👀👀👀
He got a big piece of humble pie after the game lmfao 🤣

I enjoyed every minute of this. As Giants fans '07 and '12 are the only thing we have to hold on to and be proud of this last decade of misery. 2012 NFC championship vs SF would be one hell of an episode to watch as well!
2011
This wasn't in 2007 that was the year the bears went to the super bowl remember
How can u be a giants fan and not know this game was in 2008 not 2007 the bear played that year
@@georgetoney1455 to be fair it was the 2007 season
@@georgetoney1455 It was the 07 season. The bears went to the Superbowl in the 06 season. So your actually the one whos wrong. The game was played in Jan 08. It literally says the 2007 championship game in the title. How dense are you?
We were asked on an international flight what time the game was--everyone was excited about watching Brett and Eli play. Brett really played well that season. What a fun person to watch. Great game! Just wish Brett and the boys could have won!
This team will always be special to me, among a few others.
Well it was special yeah but in 2008 not 2007
Tom Coughlin belongs in the NFL Hall of Fame!
Coughlin will eventually get in no doubt. His run with the expansion Jaguars team is icing on the cake foe him.
So does Eli
Takes an expansion to a conference championship game
Over a decade later wins a super bowl with the Giants
@@JeffKehlert-rz5xusaw Brandon Jacobs tonight reminded me running over woodson in minus 20 must have been burtsl
Without question, doubt, or hesitation this was the greatest football game I have ever seen.
Cant imagine tackling Jacobs
Charles Woodson is one of my favorite non-Giants players ever, but when Jacobs clobbered him… oh man! That felt good.
As a Giants fan this game was a nail biter lol. Plexico was a monster i wish his career lasted longer than it did and Brandon Jacobs was a bulldozer lol
Tackling Brandon Jacob's in 20 below zero has to be a miserable experience for a tackler
As a lifelong NYG Fan from 1982 on, this game, and this video, still gives me chills. I love all of the commentary from the players and coaches. There's a voice that's missing who was a huge difference maker. Plax. Without Plax, we don't win. Yes, he made a big mistake, but this fan still loves him. He played like a Great Giant. Look for a podcast from Plaxico. He's very articulate, eloquent, and an easy listen. Anyway, love this whole team forever.
I miss these Giants uniforms with the gray pants!
Seems like yesterday. Wish we had the same squad
That is one of the greatest games in the history of the NFL.
2008:
Giants beating the No 1 seed Cowboys and No. 2 seed Packers in one of the coldest games of all time...and beating the team that would have been crowned the greatest of all time - the almost 19-0 Patriots - is the greatest post season run in NFL History. Not to mention the greatest play in SB history. Historic and legendary.
2007 forever grateful
For strahan remarkable timing as after that season he retired
That Giants playoff run is like a fairy tale coming true. Like today being a wild card, beating Philly ,Bengals, and KC in the Super bowl.
Best rivalry to me. The 80s were crazy.
Eli didn't just get sacked, he got sacked by College Football National Champion, Super Bowl Champion, Ryder Cup Champion, All-time leading tackler of the Packers AJ HAWK!!!!!!
All of that didn’t help Hawk in this game
Because he drives using both feet in an automatic he lost
So what? 🤣
He's a bum.
This was not in 2007 yall thinking of 2008 in 2007 the bears played
They are mostly all millionaires living the life of luxury so don’t feel bad for them
I'm glad Donald Driver got his ring three years later (with some young guy at QB named Aaron Rodgers.)
so happy Toom got a ring...
@JeffKehlert-rz5xu saw Brandon Jacobs tonight reminded me running over woodson in minus 20 must have been burtsl
charles woodson..so honest..from a HOFer!!!!
Why did games feel more meaningful back then.
Because they were.
Great game…I can’t imagine how cold it was up there. Lambeau field in the playoffs, can’t beat it.
I can't imagine tackling Brandon Jacob's luckily nick Barnett and aj hawk were stout enough to keep us in this game and our offensive line on the interior cost us this game
Charles Woodson still seeing stars to this day.
After watching them lose another playoff game they should've won, as a fan, I don't even know why I'm here. Blessed with two legends and did nothing but underachieve over the last 27 years...
They didn't lose the NFCCG this year, they lost in the division round. The CCG is in two days between the 49ers and Rams.
@@indy_go_blue6048 Right, my bad, it all runs together after awhile
Y'all can't blame McCarthy lol
@@giffondhall2016 Everybody associated with the team over the last 27 years is to blame 🤣
The fact that Brett farve told his teammates not to wear long John's or sleeves for protection against the sub freezing temperatures was sickening and saying that gloves were not used either by receiver's cost. Them many receptions and the game i blame Brett farve and nobody else
"Best day of my life, I don't even know what happened" yeah that about sums it up
This one is up there with the Jan 1991 Championship against SF. It was insanely bitter cold here in Michigan that day as I watched these men play in even colder weather a bit to my west, and I was so happy to be indoors chilling with my cats and drinking coffee instead of getting frostbite.
Tom Coughlin ........"There was no bend on that ball". Did he see that ball being kicked?
Can still remember watching this with my family and almost doing a backflip when Tynes sunk that FG.
This is the game I became a giants fan I was only 9 but this team was special
I was crushed when the Packers and Brett Favre lost this game. Until Manning beat Tom Brady. I was incredibly happy!
Mr. McDowell, did you happen to catch the professional football game on television last night?...Oh sir, the Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And at the end the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory.
I was 8 when this game was played I'm 23 now it was my first season as a giants fan I was hooked ever since
I wasn’t a giants fan, but I was 8 as well when this game was played and can remember exactly where I was during the pats/giants super bowl. Was rooting for the giants.

1 of the best games ever
Tf is this
Please post more content based on Packers playoff loses. It sustains me during these cold winter months.
This and the 2014 loss still hurts me to this day
The throw to Manningham, the plex connection, 10 road wins in a row, beats the perfect Pats....!
Patriot would've been undefeated had Favre not thrown that damn pick.
I remember watching this game as a kid in 08 Brett Favre last game then he left to the Vikings to have a hell of a run. Everyone thought we wasent going to make it to A playoffs game with Aaron Rodgers little did they know 2 years later we would win the Superbowl. Both games after those nfc championships they beat the patriots with the legendary helmet catch some of the best games iv seen kudos to the Giants and Eli Manning
He had a pit stop with the Jets before signing with the Vikings
@@dominicdicarlo6698 he did but it wasn't memorable like the Vikings run
The helmet catch was one play. They beat them with a relentless swarm of defense. That Patriots record setting offense was stunned.
Still shocked al Harris got thrown on so well him and Woodson were probably the best corner duo in the nfl that year....
The Giants' backfield was so stacked that year that Ryan Grant was a Giants castoff.
What a game one the greatest winning in Green Bay in that cold it’s awesome
I've watched this game 5 or 6 times, and I still get nervous, hoping the Giants can take it. Man, I love football.

Man as a packer fan this was another good team that finished just short. Packers should have at least 5 more Superbowls but giants, cowboys, 49ers, in NFC championships they had are number especially cowboys for favre and 49ers for Rodgers.
