I personally love that headlight and front end. I bought a Tuono V4 Factory last week and I’m kinda wishing I’d gone for the BMW already. As bikers we are never satisfied 😂

It was a close decision for me too! The BMW is the better bike in many ways, but that V4 is magical. I also couldn't decide, but I went for the BMW first. Now I've managed to add the Tuono to my garage, as I couldn't get that sound out my head. It's a great second bike. Both have their pros and cons, like all bikes. I think the mt10 or super duke are probably the best single garage bikes, if you can only have one.

@@lordgibbness funnily enough I’ve just come from an MT10 and a SuperDuke after that, and I wholeheartedly agree. Fortunately, I now have a little Grom as a second bike, so the Tuono can stay tucked away for the winter.

Always enjoy the content you’ve created around your S1000R and looking forward to more👏 Personally I kinda like the headlight. There are some lights I can’t stand, like any of the Yamaha MT’s. But I’m never the person‘s opinion you want with this because I find the headlights of KTM, like the one on my 890R quite nice. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Cheesy but so true, lol. Okay Rye keep up the great work. Oh yeah, would love to see you review some of those bikes you mentioned you hadn’t road yet. Until next time, ride safe and have fun!

When bmw announced the m1kr i thought I would be disappointed that I had the “lower hp” version but i would buy it all over again I ride it every single day I don’t own a car and the thing makes me happy in rain or on a dry day. BMW really refined this thing and the head light was one of my highlights I hated that funky robot or insect look I wanted a subtle mature looking naked

Honest video , i have had mine just over a year 71 plate . Agree about how quiet it is no thunder , even thou i had the Akrapovic slip on still quiet . I really like the headlamp but i do understand it's not everyones cup of tea . There was a software update which i had down on my last service 2 months ago which ironed out a fuelling problem . I have not had any issue with the sat nat always gets me to my planned route . The app is brilliant tells you when the abs kicked in etc . Don't think the 2023 is gonna temp me away from mine , love the black but i have not even got close to full power 120 on a private road was enough for me but it is so much fun and the delivery is spot on with the quick shift . 165 BHPis more than enough for me .

Another great video, keep them coming. I'm close to 8K miles on my Gen 3 SKR and understand all the points you've raised. I sorted the sound, cheaply by comparison, by swapping the standard end-can for an Akra stubby. I've never had a problem with connectivity (Packtalk Bold + Samsung A71) but the turn by turn guidance is never going to match Goggle maps. It's unbelievably comfortable and it handles amazingly. So the only people who would be concerned with it are image conches peps. All standard in-line 4’s are a little bland unless they are an R1. Bought my S1000R two months ago, and you're not alone having issues with the BMW Not Connected app. I've had the same issues with connectivity, to the extent that I've never received enough instructions from it to be able to comment on how good they might be. It's only ever fully recorded one ride as a map, despite knowing all the stats like distance travelled, speed, lean angle, etc. This is a shame, as the tech on the bike is otherwise bloody brilliant.
I love the styling. With the hunched look and wide flat bars it looks badass, as our American cousins might say. It has a "get out of my way" appearance. Regarding the headlight, it reminds me of the Gen 1 MT09 that I traded in for it. I much prefer it to the insectile Transformers look that is everywhere right now. With its DRL lit up, it has the appearance of an earlier generation sci-fi icon - Gort from "The Day The Earth Stood Still". 🤖
I may eventually get around to fitting an end can to mine, but right now Im enjoying the relative quietness.
As for performance, I'm enjoying the smootth, linear power. Very easy to live with, but Tron-like (continuing the sci-fi theme) mental acceleration and speed when you want it.
It's only been a couple of months, but I'm still very much in love.

That said adding a few mods aesthetically you obviously can improve it whilst making it your own look forward to seeing what you have installed for it in the future ride safe bro 👊🏻

The Tuono, Streetfighter and Super Duke are literally the three top bikes in the genre so I'd recommend anyone shopping definitely ride those bikes. IMO the play for the S1000R is price, which may be important for some but I suspect most of the people shopping for a hypernaked aren't that price sensitive... comfort is also a benefit of the bike (especially relative to more aggressive riding position bikes like the Tuono), which would be a valid reason to buy if you really need a "comfortable hypernaked" (IMO they're a contradiction in terms but ymmv).
I'm a Ducati guy and like quirky power delivery... but I really enjoy riding the S1000RR even though it IS a very clinical bike... primarily because that powerplant is soo good. I found the S1000R was also clinical but lacked the top end to really wow me compared to the three above (or the RR). IMO it was in need of an update to compete with the top of the genre... but now with the M1000R I think BMW have a serious play, though it's still the least unique/premium looking of the class I think (even the MT10 has it's transformer thing going).

I don't like the headlight 2. But tbh, i'm very picky about the looks, and the only headlights that I really do like on a naked is the Streetfighter of Ducati or KTM Superduke. I have had the RS street triple, sold it and got myself a Aprili RS 660. Call me a stupid but I enjoy this bike way more than my last one. If nothing changes my next bike will be BMW S 1000 R or Superduke 1290 (over a year of 2)

@@BikesofRye Yes, I enjoy the RS 660 way more than the STRS 765 I previously own. I can't put the finger on why, because the ST was nothing wrong with it, but I always had some kind of feeling as if I had made a wrong choice buying it, as if I was missing on something. As soon I have test ridden the RS 660 I could not get it out of my head anymore. It took me a year to really do it, but after a lot of thinking I sold my Triumph to buy the Aprilia. Main thing holding me back was the fact that I was going step down on power, that when it feels only natural to go up up an up lol. But the way this bike feels, sounds and makes power, I do not miss my Triumph at all.

    Heated grips
    Cruise control
Sat nav (in combination with app)

I much preferred the look of the previous gen squinty eyed headlight. I thought it really worked on the S1000R but not the RR.
I was so looking forward to riding one, a 2019 bike white, blue and red with 2k miles on it, but when I finally did I had to get off it after only 15-20 mins because of the buzz/vibes through the bars and pegs. I was so disappointed as the previous gen in white blue and red was a thing of beauty. There is no way I could have ridden it for a couple of hours let alone a day's ride in the saddle touring.
Does this newer gen suffer from buzz/vibes?
I love the look of the S1000RR but tbh it's way beyond my skill level and would be totally wasted on me, but still a brilliant bike. I reckon you need a ride on a SDR Beast 3.0. I rode one of these. An awesome bike, just a bit too mental for the roads, but loads of character and grin factor turned up to 12 out of 10.

My 2021 Ducati Monster plus is my (super?) naked and is fast enough for me. When I was buying my 2021 S1000RR m package I never really considered the R. My view was if your going to go for a bike that extreme and expensive you have to have all the bells and whistles so it was the (then) top of the line S1000RR. Its nearly as comfortable as my Monster on long journeys too.

The 890r is a giggle machine for canyons and twisties, it's kind of 1 trick pony like Neevsy says.....it does what it's intention was for very well
For longer rides, I think the stability of a bigger bike is welcomed....
890r is punchy and kinda wild, but handles incredible with excellent componets
Triumph would be a better all around in that same class
I have 890r but looking for something more "mature" and better in wind and longer day rides
