The 1st year br.fluid change is because of the delay from when it was manufactured to when it leaves the dealership floor. If the time from being built to pre delivery inspection surpasses one year, the br.fluid is supposed to be replaced by the dealer, at least this is what the PDI form says. If it has not yet surpassed one year, lets day 11 months, the first br.fluid change after a year of ownership is close to the 2 year regular service schedule. Ask your dealer and they'll be able to give you the manufacturing date. Also, why get rid of the high idle feature? It's there to get the temps up quicker, for correct thermal expansion of parts, as well as heating the catalytic converter. You don't have a cat with a full exhaust, but getting the piston rings to temp quicker is still nice.
Because it's loud and it's just for warming the cats. Riding on a light throttle until warm is the best way to properly warm up, including the tyres and brakes.
I bought 2 loaner bikes from my old BMW dealer when I brought my current bike in for service. Missed opportunity to get your clients on something newer if they are not doing it.
Nice update, 3k miles in a year how did that compare to your yearly usage of the Street Triple, did you find yourself wanting to ride the Street more ? Also if you could wish away the remaining finance would you still keep the S1K for the year or would you be switching? Thanks
A year in now of ownership. 12,000 miles done and love it. Highly recommend getting it remapped though as coming from the mt10 the s1000r felt so dead low down and the low speed lurching did my nut in along with the cold start. The map and black Widow headers have transformed it. The power low down and through the midrange is fantastic. Definitely enough for me anyhow god knows what the 200hp m1000r is like 😂
I really enjoyed the review, but it would have been so much better if that camera on the left side that's aimed at you was either turned around the other way, or better yet since you have an angle pointing forward on your helmet... If you put that camera behind you pointing out towards everything behind you, that would have been amazing! Just having it pointed at you blocking most of the views is a waste IMO... Especially with your visor down covering your face. I don't understand that camera angle. Other than that, I really liked everything else. Incredible S1000R, by the way! 👍
I change brake fluid every 6 months. You can feel it going spongy over time. Brake fluid is cheap, even if bleeding your brakes can be annoying and messy, but oh so rewarding. Especially if you're in a humid place and you slam on the brakes often
You got out cheap. I just got my 12,000 mile service here in Atlanta Ga. on my 2016 S1000R that I bought used with 8.400 miles on it in late '21 and it came to 515.00 bucks with oil and brake fluid change and chain tightening. That was with full synthetic oil at over 15.00 a quart and a clutch lever adjusment. I'm sure they went over the bike front to rear, BUT, Damn!
I have the same model bike and agree with your sentiments. The mods I made are BMW exhaust and dyno tune, bar end mirrors by Dave Austin (don't get BMW as far are no good at high revs & are rather expensive) BMW w/shield, radiator guard and tank protector. It is an awesome bike in the Hockenheim silver and looks so much better with the mods. Having said that a KTM light set or similar would look so much better. Looking forward to your blackbird update. Cheers.
Thinking of getting one of these. I see you need the full header system to de cat the bike unlike my Mt10 ,with just a link pipe. Is it much of a job to fit ? Guessing rads and oil cooler have to be moved ? Great vids 👌

I'm starting to consider replacing my 2018 MT-10 with a S1000R, but I'm wondering about the riding position on the bike, compared to the MT-10 which I really like. Any thoughts ? Thanks
The S1000r is definitely a more aggressive riding position than the MT10 - more cantered forward and weight through the wrists etc but still very comfortable!
I’ve been riding a 16 fz07 for awhile now and even though I love it and it’s never failed me in any manner, I was thinking about jumping to a s1000r or save for a streetfighter. Would you say the 1kr is worth it for about 13k (how much they’re going for in my area) and would it be a solid upgrade? The only “issues”, I’m using those because it isn’t an issue, is that where I’m at in California the average highway speed is about 85 so I’m filtering and riding close to 95-105 comfortably and the 07 doesn’t seem to have any problems but I feel like the s1kr would just do it a little more comfortable. Also, my riding group is an r7, triumph 675, r1, and an fz09 so I’m the slowest currently. I don’t necessarily want to be the fastest but would this bike be comfortable up there? Obviously I wouldn’t really be going 160 but is it comfortable around 120-130 or is it kinda screaming? That was a lot but thanks.
