    Special thanks to Wollaston Motorrad in Northampton for loan of the bike!
    There will be a second video soon with the B roll footage for those really wanting to see more side by side of M vs S so sub and click the bell to be notified!

    The good thing over the US is that a full spec S price is very close to M base model which makes this a no brainer decision. The diff to the competition model is still $5K which quite large diff. I chose the base since I like the white color better, and I was worried about the rigidity of the carbon wheels on public roads.

    I have bought this , downgraded from Ducati v4s. Not a swap, but almost.
    What you said is correct, 150mph is harder than 180 on a fared bike, and i am not wanting to do it very often. On track of course.
    This is great handling machine, so you don't get left on corners. Just straights that are long. I do miss the Duc, but am now, at over 50, enjoying the bmw competition as easier to ride at sensible speeds and I use it much more.

    Hey, loved the video. Would you reckon the non-Comp version has less bar vibrations due to the forged rims? And overall, is the Comp. pack worth it in your eyes, it is pretty much just the carbon pieces right? If the forged rims would lessen the vibrations, then I don't really see the need for it, other than the black livery of course :) How would you compare the M to the new 1390 SDR Evo? I'm looking to upgrade from my 2021 MT-09 SP. Thanks :).

      44 teeth compared the super duke and say they prefer for road riding and the m for track. Might be worth a test ride…
      For your question. I’m buying the standard and not the competition… but if I had a spare £5k I’d pump for the competition. The reason is i have tried all other bits, rearsets, mirrors, levers, and the M stuff is superior always. So if you can afford it get it; but if your not too bothered with bling, the stock is better than any aftermarket. Just not as good as the M stuff.

    newer seen anyone asking a question- is this bike ever saved anyone, because of electronics support (traction, abs-pro) and etc?? at the moment i own honda cb650r (2019) - power vice it suits me ( as many of you say going over 150m/h on street bike is pain; it has enough torque for me too); also it even has abs and traction control _ so i only want S1000 because off all safety equipment it has (heated grips and cruise control not necessarily to me), and maybe nicer looks than honda (maybe maybe). the price diference is double - so would it be worth going from my honda to s1000?

  • @teej710
    @teej710 11 месяцев назад +4

    Sorry, i have to disagree with many of your points in the review. I currently own a base model M1000R and have also had the pleasure of a S1000R sport. For the extra money of a M, compared to the current price of a S sport, you get a better torquier engine, the brakes are better, fully adjustable suspension (manual), better rider aids, a more slick quick shifter, lighter forged wheels plus a few cosmetic changes. In my opinion the M seat is harder, the riding position is slightly more prone and the stiffer suspension is unforgiving, making a long journey uncomfortable. Also, the M vibrates more than the S. But, the M has a far more usable spread of power. which is a massive plus. It stops as well as it goes and there's always the M bragging rights. I have never experienced any noticeable benefit from those wings. Other than bling, there is no rideability difference to justify the significant extra money, for the competition version you reviewed. The S and the M might look similar, but they are different beasts and the price reflects that. I found that dealers are prepared to do a deal (without part ex), so don't have to pay the list price and the base M becomes even better value for money.

    • @yodomcat
      @yodomcat  11 месяцев назад

      Think we’re agreeing from reading the above. However I found the seat more comfortable to the pony I got a price from bmw! 😂
      The vibes affected me differently, vibey like the S, but didn’t hurt my elbows which a long contestant ride on my S does.
      Power, M is amazing, worth it over the S? If you can afford, if you can’t no disappointment in the S (with a decat).
      For the suspension it is dynamic like the r but with more adjustment in the pro modes from that I saw. Slap it in road and it is soft and comfy, whack in dynamic pro and it’s how you set up. Or did you spec manual suspension?

    • @teej710
      @teej710 11 месяцев назад +3

      @@yodomcat As for the suspension, on the S you can adjust the damping modes from the LH switch gear. Then the DDC does what it does. No switch gear option on the M. On the M these settings are Preset and you have to go into Race Pro mode, to setup custom damping values manually, then select that mode to use. Preload is manual on both S & M.
      On another note, RUclipsrs who don't actually own an M1000R, never mention the insurance aspect. In my experience, potential buyers should check whether they can get insurance first, before purchasing the bike. I have 42 years continuous riding experience and full NCD, but my existing insurer would not quote to add an M1000R. I had to change insurers and accept some ridiculous excess and clauses to get it insured within a multi bike policy. My BMW dealer informed me that he'd lost several orders, due to insurance quote issues. Something to bear in mind 🤔

In my experience there is no naked on the market that provides soul and fun factor like the SD.....in fact nothing even comes close. I can see an RR on track being amazing and the R just seems like a naked RR......meaning a high reving race bike where the fun happens after you are already going way too fast. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have either the R or the RR in stable but I think I agree with you that the V4S would provide more smiles. I have a Pikes Peak and even at 170hp it is incredible, I can't imagine the 215HP V4R. But cut us reviewers some slack, it’s hard to ride a bike, talk about the bike, keep to some coherent script and stay alive. Then we get it in the neck riding too slow or too fast. You just can’t win 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Does the m1000R vibrate like the s1000RR at high-speed??

    • @yodomcat
      @yodomcat  11 месяцев назад

      Yes. For me it’s not an issue, but I know it is more so for others. Strangely for me my golfers and tennis elbows were better on the M than my S.

    I hear the m1000r has some serious vibration on the handle bar which tires your arms hands out. How is the s1000 with vibration? it seemed more stable to me on the video.

    • @yodomcat
      @yodomcat  5 часов назад +1

      I found vibes better with the M to my S. however since this video I have changed my S bars to M and that is a bit better but still not as good as the full M. So I think the combination of the bars with the smoother RR engine is what is doing it. Also the M I took out had the carbon wheels which may come into play also.

    • @walter5401
      @walter5401 3 часа назад +1

      @yodomcat if i get the m what could i get aftermarket to reduce the vibration? I will be commuting about 180 miles regularly so i just dont want that souring the ride.

    • @yodomcat
      @yodomcat  3 часа назад

      @@walter5401 bar ends are the obvious there is a brand heavier than stock (can’t think of their name); there is also some gloves you can get that you wear under yours which help. A taller screen will add downforce (but then the wings do that), then keep the revs either low or high. But I think you’re overthinking it; get one for a weekend and put some serious saddle time in and then you’ll know if it’s for you 👍🏻

    • @DLewisMoto
      @DLewisMoto Год назад

      @yodomcat unfortunately no because mounting the electronic shift cylinder requires some modification to the motorcycle that is not easily reversed, though minor.
      I know I'd be thrilled with either machine. The Ducati V4 sounds amazing and does have prestige for sure. But the BMW M 1000R with all the carbon, wings and M bits is beautiful too.

    • @yodomcat
      @yodomcat  Год назад +1

      Yes I covered this in the video. My bike is worth £12/13k if I sold. And to jump on the base M is £19.5k for me (and those with a S in the same position) the jump is £6k. More to the competition edition.
      If you sped up a full M-sport billet pack/carbon pack etc then you’re at full M money, but you’ll have the XR engine and not the RR engine so in that position I’d deffo take a base M and forego some extras.
