I'd rather buy four other bikes with the money,if I had the money.
Ridiculous bit of kit for any road work.
You could have a stripped down cheap track bike for a fraction of the cost.
Coz that lump is soooo not useful on public roads.
Just a posing pouch for poseures.😜
@@SuperDavensuziyoutubSo basically you’re telling us that you can’t afford one 🤷🏽♂️
I'm 55 and I've already done 6000 miles in a year (and it was garaged over the winter), including a track day and a 750 mile round trip to Holland and back from the UK and didn't suffer any more than I did when I was doing the same thing fifteen years ago on my CBR600RR.
It returned an average of 44 mpg with an average speed of 59 mph over the 355 mile journey.
It's slow when you want it and fast when you want it. You can pootle around town with ease and then cruise at 150mph+ (on the Autobahn) and it didn't wobble at all, and I even had 20Kg of luggage tied to the back of it.
I disliked it when I first picked it up when it was released in the UK, but after a year of getting used to it and understanding all the suspension settings and other electronic goodies, it's by far the best bike I've owned. I've even appreciated the Hill Start Control. I never thought I'd need that on a bike, but you'll be surprised how often it comes on and allows you to take your hands off the brake when stopped at even slight road inclinations.
I love its looks, love owning it and love riding it. It makes me feel great and I often find myself swearing at it under my breath for, well, taking my breath away with its performance sometimes.
I agree that its price only lends itself to the mature members of society, but there are also younger affluent members of society who buy sports cars costing tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. I'm sure there are probably wealthy youngsters who would have no issue in purchasing such a machine as this. I re-mortgaged my house to buy mine, such was the desire to own it and downgraded to a shitty car to be able to continue owning it. I'm a biker and I want to own it. I want the best there is. I could never own a Ferrari, but I can own the Ferrari of motorcycles, if you catch my drift. £27000 for a car feels expensive to me. But almost seemed irrelevant when deciding to buy this. You only live once and I'm now nearer death than birth and I want to enjoy motorcycles as long as I physically can.
However, you are correct in that I will probably lose my driving license pretty soon. Again.
Love your passion for going cheap on commuting cars and extravagant on motorcycles ❤🎉
Hell yeah
1000 cc racing Beemer...one of the longest rides to work yet. lol. We know why.
why?
Boring
@@freebehindbars8654 gotcha
Zack easily has the best reviews. The breakdown on everybike and depth he goes to. Speaks with alot of inspiration. I've been watching his reviews since the 300 cc battles with the RC390, yamaha R3 and ZX400. And I always find myself clicking just for his quality
Couldn’t agree more.
I disagree. Reviewing a bike on boring straight city roads is hardly giving this type of bike a true evaluation of its intended purpose.
@@Chris-vq5vr While that may be true, this series is called "Daily Rider" for the simple reason of using all kinds of bikes to commute to work with Zack's opinion and experience during the same.
I feel like Zack's experience clearly comes through in his comparisons. Anyone can talk about what the bike is, or does. But Zack can editorialize on what it's good at, how it compares, and why you'd choose it.
Not sure exactly why, but I find Zack absolutely the easiest reviewer to listen to. Also Michael Neeves and Chris Northover are up there.
Sir, with tears in my eyes, you are my inspiration for attempting perfect footless stops.
Can't wait to see the M1000XR daily ride
He doesn't do the same platform in the same year. Doubt there will be a daily rider for that.
Are you sure? He reviewed both the GSX8R and vstrom 800 last year.
I suspect it depends on what local dealers/companies have on offer for mid-term loaner bikes as well. A lot of bike reviews happen on 1-day loans, which doesn’t give enough time for the reviewer to offer more than surface level insight. Zack seems to ride these for at least a week before reviewing them, which I think is great, I really appreciate it.
@@ferociousfrankie that's too bad, I think it would be really interesting to see and hear what he has to say with the full set reviewed side by side.
Revzilla, thank you for sponsoring Zack to share his insights! His perspectives are both down to earth - and nuanced - and it’s obvious that his opinions are informed by genuine care across his significant breadth of experience. I will never be able to gain the breadth of experience that Zack has so I get a LOT from hearing his thoughts. Thanks, again!
Bouncing over train tracks, mud and loose rocks: "Lets go to race....."
It's what the people want! Lol
I had a 2017 S1000R, and loved it until I had knee surgery. I never once thought the bike needed more power. This bike has no reason to exist but I'm glad it does.
Idk why I’m even watching this. The bike literally called me poor 😂
The track footage is nuts, dude. You’re the man.
Thank you for that closing snippet of track footage. Brilliant!
I was sort of expecting a few shots of Zack washing the bike.
@@arjenbootsma6881 That would have been great!
Daily rider if you're rich! 😊
My uncle is named Rich!
I’d rather spend $ here than at the local watering hole.
All about each person’s set of priorities.
Finance it for 84 months lol
Or live in your car😬
@@BottomLineBassin2 Don't buy it if you can't buy it twice.
I still can't believe how Zach can remember so much information on the back, n say it all so smoothly n naturally, and then ride a motorcycle while doing that. one day Zach, I strived to be rider like you one day!
Always watch this with a big smile on my face. Love your enthusiasm!
One of the most exciting motorcycles come to life on your excellent platform. Thank you so much for what you do. It is such a pleasure to watch.
Especially for those who can no longer ride.
I appreciate that you try to dress the part depending on what the bike is, like classic outfit for a heritage, sporty stuff for sporty bikes
It's because he's working for Revzilla. Gotta model something.
It's a key journalist requirement.
I adore mine. Almost all motorcycles can bring a smile to my face when I ride, but this one makes me giggle like a fool.
I want it so bad. Let’s swap for a test. I have a ZH2
Nice get!
Loving the offroad section ❤Such lunacy.
Living in a rural area, any bike I get has to deal with a couple of kilometres of that to get to a surfaced road so that's a much appreciated part of the test ride.
I switched from a Ducati Monster to this bike, and boy oh boy what a great move that was. I love this bike so much. It puts a giant smile on my face every time I go for a ride. I love it!
don't do it, Zak, don't DONT do NOT, Zacharie DO NOT take that down that muddy, ooh, no your gonna, your doin it... oh my g...
It wouldnt be the first time he takes a high performance beamer down the muddiest dirt road in Cali 😅
😂😂😂
Absolutely excellent review and video. Thank you!
Do the s1000xr next. Dads around the world need to know about the pinnacle of dad bikes.
Im not even a dad but that bike makes me rethink driving a sports bike..
Him and Ari did a review with the 1st gen S1000XR and the 2nd gen Multistrada 1200 in the "On Two Wheels" series. Pretty comprehensive comparison between the two bikes, even though both are the older models now.
Thanks Zack for this quality review. It is quite honest and genuine.
Zack Courts, always awesome!!!!
Great video!! Great bike, great motor!
great review zack. the genie illustration at the end of the vid was the nutshell moment.
Hey just wanted to thank you zac for these videos i literally just started following you two days ago!
You have hours of fun ahead of you man. Welcome.
I'm jealous.
Can i just say Zack that i really like YOUR view and personality when reviewing bikes. There are a few others that do the same concept, but you are the one i watch exclusively.
Great review!
Great review Zack. I have a 2020 S1000rr as my daily commuter bike. I have about 30km each way of mostly open road riding. Once you get used to it the bike is surprisingly comfortable and useable as a daily ride. I did change the seat for one from Sargent seats which made a huge difference to comfort. Also luckily in NZ we don't have the dip in power curve. For interest sake I am 57 years old too.
I tested an S1000RR a few years ago in Nelson. Surprisingly friendly and easy to ride with warp speed available if you want it!
Picking mine up in April!!
Another great review Zack. When you were talking about the s1kXR it got me thinking. It would be great to see you do a whole BMW back to back test on a track. Maybe at like Adams MotorSports so you could use the dual sport section too.
M1000r vs s1000rr vs XR vs R9t vs 1300gs vs k1600gt
It would just be cool to see a back to back and what excels at what. Not exactly race times but all encompassing.
Then do it with the ducati lineup.
pretty sure this will be the only review of this bike to feature dirt/gravel & riding it on railroad ties .. lol , love it
I've put 3,000 miles on mine since getting it in August and have loved ever single minute of it, even did my first trackday ever on it!
LOL, Rub the lamp!! so good!!
I’ve ridden one of these at a few demos and wow, it was a ton of fun! I highly remember you go try one out
Zack, you give us the best idea of what it would be like to own this beast - well done once again.
As an owner of the M1000R I think this sums it up pretty well! Great bike.
For what it’s worth, my 2018 S1000R does have a rubber mounted handlebar. I think it makes a big difference. They’re incredible bikes.
Here in Greece, it would be in the top of the board as the locals have another check box, a significant one i might say. It is called "parking in the cafeteria" and this bike would check with BOLD RED color. Thanks again for another Daily Rider Review and thanks for the closing scenes. It became quite clear what kind of daily riding this machine is supposed to do.
Excellent review from a humble yet very accomplished rider
So cool, thx
Lang lebe Motorrad!
Thank you Zack for another great review!
That track footage was great.
Lol at all the mud when you get to the office. You're a legend Zack..
These are some of my favorite videos on RUclips.
I don’t have an interest in sport bikes now that I am middle aged and yet I am still watching.
YESSSSS!
This is just what I need to get to work on time every day
Kind of an HR nightmare when the State Troopers show up at your workplace 20 minutes later tho 😂
Had a S1000R and loved it!
M1000 XR: Hey! This is my gig man!
Insanely fast, insanely expensive, and amazing looking bike. Thanks for another terrific Daily Rider review!
I think Zach is probably my bike tuber mainly because as a new rider, he knows what good and bad feels like on a bike of any size. not just, I ride a zx10r so I know bikes.
Taking literal insurance nightmares on dirt and mud is why I come back to you Zack
Lovers Lane🥰😁😆 def wanna see that one in more videos
Holy moly! That thang is annnngry
Sounds good!
Best bike reviewer on RUclips. My only wish is that your commute had more twists
That track footage!😲
Love and respect from England, off road on that bike is not easy, fair play
Did Tim get to play with this at the track ? ..Glad he got out there to see you .... :) .. I was shacking in my boots just seeing the end clip ..Holy moly ! HAppy SPring ..
Both the R and RR feel absolutely broken below 9000 RPM where you spend most of your time. MT10 has a much torquier motor for less cash. Get a 1290 SuperDuke, 1100 Tuono, or base V4 SF if you want a fun street/track naked bike and have the cash.
I may not always watch the whole daily rider episode, but I will always watch the offroad section!
Hey Zac, great review as ever. On a completely different tack, can you do one on the new Honda NX500 please? (and the RE Himalayan 450 if it ever arrives through the Red Sea blockages!) Cheers, Mike (UK).
Try fitting heavier bar ends and a set of bar risers, Both fitted to my S1000r and helped reduce the vibration in the hands and mirrors
Great video Zack! Have you considered trying out the Honda (S)CL500? Would love to get your insights on that bike.
Was biting my knuckles when you went through that gnarly dirt section 😂
Definitely love my MKR. Had a Duc V4, scorched nuts splitting in CA is brutal. Rode a Aprilia, somehow hated the seated and the Beemer, for a daily is so docile on the street and manic when you want it that it ticked all the right boxes. Mirrors are trash, but switched out to Rizoma Stealths and weighted bar ends are much more appropriate. It's a badass bike, may not sound as good for an I-4 compared to a V4, but it's such a great all-arounder.
The hill hold is great ! And is not cumbersome as shown. You just let the clutch out and take off normally and it senses the rpm increase and lets the brakes go instantly. Don’t need to think about it all. I’m also referring to manual mode not automatic. BT Moto has the tune side taken care of and there is no limiter in the rpm range. The mirrors are the only thing that I can complain about on the bike.
is there any chance of an uncut, unedited version of daily rider? i often watch these in the form of just audio, so i’m not really watching, but the longer ones like this are my favorites. an uncut raw version would be fantastic
Can't wait for you to do a Daily Rider KTM1390 Duke R vid!!
It's magnificent.
Very nice motorcycle forsure forsure
Lets see that DIRT section😁!!
It's pretty interesting how we're able to hear your smile during this entire ride to work, except maybe for the 'off-road' section. Great review!
Hey, if you're lucky enough to ride a motorcycle to work, you should be smiling. Right?
Teeth chattering ride there even with ride management.
Great looking bike and looks like a blast to ride. I think I would want to rent one for a few days and hit a twisty road or five, but would probably get into too much trouble owning one.
I’m not a big BMW nerd but I do like the M branding and how it’s used on this bike. The logo and colors are classic and modern. Perhaps my second favorite blue/red performance livery (Martini is the favorite of course).
I love that engine
You make those reviews really good! Can you check BMW R 1250 RS as well? Please.
Thanks for answering the handlebar vibration question at 11:40.
I'm not sure I buy that removing the handlebar mounts will give you more feel? If your hands are tingling from the vibration doesn't that hurt the feel too? You did say that it smoothes out at higher rpm so maybe it's not noticeable on track?
Hope you are soon doing the M1000XR!
Great video as always. I can’t imagine how nuts this bike must be to ride.. I had a 2021 S1000R and it was bonkers as a commuter and amazing to ride on track for the 2 track days I managed to do with it (riding to the track and home). Only put 4,000 miles on it before I traded it but damn do I miss it.. I think that for most people a standard s1000r would do the trick and be a bit more livable both in practicality and price.. better yet a gently used one as these seem to lose value rather quickly.. fantastic machine.. but I think a tuono may be a more exciting package for the money.. although I haven’t tried one yet.
Hopefully yall keep doing these with nakeds, I'm currently shopping for an upgrade from my zx6r and I'm ready to switch to the naked bike life (and riding position).
I would love to see the ZH2 and the 1390 Super Duke on here soon.
Want one !
Daily Racer. 🇩🇪🏁 yeah it’s a car payment but lots of guys know you can’t have this much fun in any car. And if you park it at the office or the club you’re gonna be a star. You want the best you’ve gotta pay for it. But - these bikes are practical + keep their value way better than the rest. The valets would find a nice spot for this gorgeous piece too. Enjoy life - enjoy the ride! ✨
"Gixxer BRO, do a wheelie!" Lol 😂
Bitty Minnie Weenie 😂 *Kidding! You’ve gotta have some severe confidence to ride this bike! If you haven’t ridden this bike, you have no idea how much power it has!
Easy does it. Thanks Zach for another amazing review!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one “Off Roading!” Haha Yikes!! ❤️👍😊✅
I’ve got one of these in Australia, meaning the full fat midrange like Europe, and yeah the shiftcam and the midrange meat is so much of the character and charm of the engine
And yes heavy bar ends help the buzz (I’ve got heavy lever guards in fact) but they don’t rescue those mirrors.
Who needs mirrors? 😂
Yeah, who's gonna pass you in that extreme machine?😂😂
@@jeanpequignot80 H2-R 🤪
There's an Aussie website called Bike Sales. Look up the article on the "GSX-S1200". Yes, that's not a typo. 205 wheel HP and 104 ft-lb wheel torque, bored/stroked 999 engine now 1173cc.
i have zero interest in motorcycles but i do have an interest in speech ,this presenter has an amazing voice and i listen to it for relaxation ,very therapautic
I had one for about 7-8 months. Was amazing minus this weird speed wobble past 120+. Couldn’t figure out how to stop it. Wasn’t a tank slapper but just enough to feel a little shake. Stiffened the damper, changed with ohlins. Ended up selling it for the M1000RR but man they’re both great bikes
Just the thought of the cost of parts for this thing turned my hair white.
Love the review as always although admittedly I’m not a fan of the ride along the tracks through the mud. I just don’t get it but everyone has to have their own thing in their reviews to stand out. Also if I’m not mistaken I think BMW now has an M version of the XR. Keep up the great work.
I've not gotten to ride one yet but I know the S1000RR was really very... easy'ish... for a noob like me to ride at the track, just as long as the Rev's were under 9,000...
OVER 9,000 it turns into a 110, 120, 130mph (or pretty much whereever you wanted) power wheelie monster that want's to yeet you off the back.
Those power hole techniques to pass noise have been around for a while... the worst I've personally seen was on the Multistrada where they had to gimp performance around 5000 rpm so hard that the bike could barely accelerate.
Luckily... the aftermarket can fix all those ills.
Zack, any way you could review a Super Tenere? Love the history and pedigree of the bike and would like to get our take on it.
This is more my style,I retired from crotch rockets & do the hooligan thing now
That dirt road section had me clenching
Until this day/bike I've never thought, "No Zack. Don't do it!" when attempting the RR pass.
I love how you really don’t have to watch the video to get the conclusion of the review, you just have to look at Zach’s expression in the thumbnail.
Based on my experience with a 2014 S1000R, I am not at all surprised that it is comfortable and is an excellent daily rider. It’s just that mine was manic for me let alone this version. But mine was a great bike to ride if you’re not looking to cruise. This would be similar I would think, just with 40 more horsepower.
Since the winglets are only for aerodynamics and don't require tensile strength, making them out of carbon fibre would actually be a detriment. Carbon fibre is usually not a weight saving over plastic - replacing metal parts like the wheels nets you a big weight saving, but the plastic those winglets are made of are probably far lighter than a set of carbon ones would be. Being plastic also means they snap off easier in the event of a crash.
They do require strength, there are aerodynamic forces acting on them.
They don't require much, being that they provide very little down force, but they could be hollow and lightweight and a lot more stiff if made from carbon fiber.
Yeah, plastic is good enough for such a small amount of down force. It's really silly to put plastic winglets that are mostly for looks on a 27k, 205hp bike, though
You work a hell of a long way from where you work
