@@Chris-vq5vr While that may be true, this series is called "Daily Rider" for the simple reason of using all kinds of bikes to commute to work with Zack's opinion and experience during the same.

I'm 55 and I've already done 6000 miles in a year (and it was garaged over the winter), including a track day and a 750 mile round trip to Holland and back from the UK and didn't suffer any more than I did when I was doing the same thing fifteen years ago on my CBR600RR. It returned an average of 44 mpg with an average speed of 59 mph over the 355 mile journey. It's slow when you want it and fast when you want it. You can pootle around town with ease and then cruise at 150mph+ (on the Autobahn) and it didn't wobble at all, and I even had 20Kg of luggage tied to the back of it. I disliked it when I first picked it up when it was released in the UK, but after a year of getting used to it and understanding all the suspension settings and other electronic goodies, it's by far the best bike I've owned. I've even appreciated the Hill Start Control. I never thought I'd need that on a bike, but you'll be surprised how often it comes on and allows you to take your hands off the brake when stopped at even slight road inclinations. I love its looks, love owning it and love riding it. It makes me feel great and I often find myself swearing at it under my breath for, well, taking my breath away with its performance sometimes. I agree that its price only lends itself to the mature members of society, but there are also younger affluent members of society who buy sports cars costing tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. I'm sure there are probably wealthy youngsters who would have no issue in purchasing such a machine as this. I re-mortgaged my house to buy mine, such was the desire to own it and downgraded to a shitty car to be able to continue owning it. I'm a biker and I want to own it. I want the best there is. Great review Zack. I have a 2020 S1000rr as my daily commuter bike. I have about 30km each way of mostly open road riding. Once you get used to it the bike is surprisingly comfortable and useable as a daily ride. I did change the seat for one from Sargent seats which made a huge difference to comfort. Took mine for its first break in ride. Kinda crazy to hear people think this bike is uncomfortable etc. Im 5'10" and i can nearly flat foot it. The ride itself is extremly comfortable and even restricted to 8k the power is impressive. Coming from an Aprilia Shiver 750 its pretty ridiculous. The M definitely turns heads and gets a lot of thumbs up and attention when stopped. So far, no complaints at all. Glad I picked the M over the Ducati Streetfighter or Super Duke. Just my 2 cents.
One of the most exciting motorcycles come to life on your excellent platform. Thank you so much for what you do. It is such a pleasure to watch. Especially for those who can no longer ride.
Here in Greece, it would be in the top of the board as the locals have another check box, a significant one i might say. It is called "parking in the cafeteria" and this bike would check with BOLD RED color. Thanks again for another Daily Rider Review and thanks for the closing scenes. It became quite clear what kind of daily riding this machine is supposed to do.
Another great review Zack. When you were talking about the s1kXR it got me thinking. It would be great to see you do a whole BMW back to back test on a track. Maybe at like Adams MotorSports so you could use the dual sport section too. M1000r vs s1000rr vs XR vs R9t vs 1300gs vs k1600gt It would just be cool to see a back to back and what excels at what. Not exactly race times but all encompassing. Then do it with the ducati lineup.
I think Zach is probably my bike tuber mainly because as a new rider, he knows what good and bad feels like on a bike of any size. not just, I ride a zx10r so I know bikes.
Around 3:00 - the whole carbon wheels bit. Just to note, illegal in many racing series. The NW200 wouldn't let Hickman run them last year. I think I heard something about potential TT issues too, but could be wrong about that

I’ve got one of these in Australia, meaning the full fat midrange like Europe, and yeah the shiftcam and the midrange meat is so much of the character and charm of the engine And yes heavy bar ends help the buzz (I’ve got heavy lever guards in fact) but they don’t rescue those mirrors.
There's an Aussie website called Bike Sales. Look up the article on the "GSX-S1200". Yes, that's not a typo. 205 wheel HP and 104 ft-lb wheel torque, bored/stroked 999 engine now 1173cc.
We always list Zack’s gear in the description of each video, for this one he was wearing the Sedici Marco 2 Mesh Gloves: rvz.la/49KEjvF . Hope that helps!
Agree - my 2018 does not have vibration that I really notice, BUT I have destroyed the stabilisation on the camera on an iPhone (before Quadlock had the vibration damper - no issues since) and, strangely, the pins in a Seiko watch band. Guess the resonance through the bars do not affect me but does affect other things

I think its the leader-board that is the frustrating bit. I love your videos, watch them as soon as I see them drop, and look forward to the next one more than any others on RUclips (well CTXP adventures equally). So THANK YOU. But you are always too restrained with the leader board. You loved this bike. Made me want one, when I'd not want any of the others. But it didn't come first!? I get your reasoned reasoning. It would be a ridiculous bike for me to buy. Even so, my heart always sinks a tiny bit when I see where you are going with a bike you love, when it gets to the LB. (I won't stop watching though.).
I mean, the show is called ‘daily rider’ rather than ‘ultimate dream machine’. I enjoy Zachs journalistic intent in this as bikes, as all things in life, are compromises for 99,7% of us.
@@903lew You are right of course! I had a similar thought after posting my comment. And no one was in any doubt about the 'dream' nature of this bike. Thanks.
@@gardupgti4609 Reading some comments (and seeing the amount of kitted out R1300 GS’ on RUclips) it seems quite a lot of people have the dosh to spend. Me? Not so much as of yet ^^ That being said I’m not sure this would be the bike for me regardless. 200+ hp would scare the life out of me and I do like the odd gravel road.
Thanks for answering the handlebar vibration question at 11:40. I'm not sure I buy that removing the handlebar mounts will give you more feel? If your hands are tingling from the vibration doesn't that hurt the feel too? You did say that it smoothes out at higher rpm so maybe it's not noticeable on track?
I legit don't understand why people complain about the power down low, it's not a bike for daily driving, it's an M1000R with over 200hp which has most of its stuff coming from a homologated world championship superbike. Also if you have the money to buy one of these and maintain it accordingly, you're NOT keeping it stock with all its restrictions, the first thing you're doing to it is taking it to a shop to get its ecu flashed and dyno tuned. So even if it came with restrictions, you're not keeping them in place. Before anyone else comes talking about the warranty too, you can always flash it back to stock, it's not that complicated. I swear most people complaining are people who don't own them or have too much money and think the price tag means best in every way. If you want a bike with more torque down low but still insane power and same category get a Streetfigther or if you want craziness go with a SuperDuke. Don't go with the bike with a WSBK racing engine, you're asking it to be something its not, and guess what, with the torque down low map that BMW gives you, you're now sacrificing peak power for torque down low, why would you buy this bike and then do that? Just go with Ducati or Aprillia if you want a 4 cilinder with a bit more torque down low or if you don't mind it not being as sporty go with Kawasaki and get the ZH2. I swear it's like those people asking for the RSV4, the R6 and the R1 or a Fireblade SP to be comfortable, those bikes are literally known to be some of the most aggressive bikes out there in their category. I got a CBR1000RR so I know what 4 cylinders like and yeah I know Hondas have more power lower in the rev range compared to something like a ZX10 or even the M1000RR, this is why I also almost always ride between 1-4th gear because I like having most of the power readily available. Also most of these bikes have quickshifters both up and down so even if you're lacking power in less than 2 seconds you can get your bike ready to accelerate fast. Just understand what type of machine you're getting into before you're buying it. The M1000R is unlike the others because it has a racing inline 4 engine, racers using this engine don't know what 1000-5000rpm is. Something else to talk about is how V4 engines have more torque down low, they still love high revs but I've tested a Streetfigther V4 and when it was limited to 165hp it felt faster accelerating than my CBR1000 so that's quite something. if you're one of those people complaining go test ride all of the top end nakeds from each brand so you can understand.
This Beemer amazes me. I’m by no means a BMW fan boy I find them kind of sober and in a way almost too good. It’s incredible how docile and calm it is lumbering along but when you light it up it’s a psychopath.
Great looking bike and looks like a blast to ride. I think I would want to rent one for a few days and hit a twisty road or five, but would probably get into too much trouble owning one.
I had one for about 7-8 months. Was amazing minus this weird speed wobble past 120+. Couldn’t figure out how to stop it. Wasn’t a tank slapper but just enough to feel a little shake. Stiffened the damper, changed with ohlins. Ended up selling it for the M1000RR but man they’re both great bikes
6:30 missed another sound check! I’m telling you man that’s a new segment. Like rev it or floor it while in the tunnel! Like most of us do on our daily rides!
The hill hold is great ! And is not cumbersome as shown. You just let the clutch out and take off normally and it senses the rpm increase and lets the brakes go instantly. Don’t need to think about it all. I’m also referring to manual mode not automatic. BT Moto has the tune side taken care of and there is no limiter in the rpm range. The mirrors are the only thing that I can complain about on the bike.
Daily Racer. 🇩🇪🏁 yeah it’s a car payment but lots of guys know you can’t have this much fun in any car. And if you park it at the office or the club you’re gonna be a star. You want the best you’ve gotta pay for it. But - these bikes are practical + keep their value way better than the rest. The valets would find a nice spot for this gorgeous piece too. Enjoy life - enjoy the ride! ✨
@@anthonysilvestri4946 no just in the weight percentage perspective it’s crazy that a bike that’s as light as a smallish motorcycle that’s actually even lighter then it sounds because the value of of unsprung weight is like 3 to 1 in pounds saved. Carbon fiber wheels on a car change track performance by whole seconds. So I imagine a motorcycle would be pretty comparable
The free map update from BMW, I am assuming that is the break in update with the RPM limit removed? I talked to my dealer and they said they have not heard of a separate update from BMW after the break in period.
No, the torque optimized map comes from the factory that way, or apparently, you can ask a dealer to do it. It's not related to the break-in service. Mine came from the factory with it, and it was even listed on the sales tag hung on the bike.
Definitely love my MKR. Had a Duc V4, scorched nuts splitting in CA is brutal. Rode a Aprilia, somehow hated the seated and the Beemer, for a daily is so docile on the street and manic when you want it that it ticked all the right boxes. Mirrors are trash, but switched out to Rizoma Stealths and weighted bar ends are much more appropriate. It's a badass bike, may not sound as good for an I-4 compared to a V4, but it's such a great all-arounder.
What about the adventure or rr version? 😅 I know it would probably be a logistical nightmare but would be one of my favorite set of videos if you did videos of the XR and RR on the track and stuff too ;)
I’m not a big BMW nerd but I do like the M branding and how it’s used on this bike. The logo and colors are classic and modern. Perhaps my second favorite blue/red performance livery (Martini is the favorite of course).
Great video as always. I can’t imagine how nuts this bike must be to ride.. I had a 2021 S1000R and it was bonkers as a commuter and amazing to ride on track for the 2 track days I managed to do with it (riding to the track and home). Only put 4,000 miles on it before I traded it but damn do I miss it.. I think that for most people a standard s1000r would do the trick and be a bit more livable both in practicality and price.. better yet a gently used one as these seem to lose value rather quickly.. fantastic machine.. but I think a tuono may be a more exciting package for the money.. although I haven’t tried one yet.
I have a SF V4 and my brother has an S1000R. The BMW is way smoother and the electronics blow the Ducati out of the water, quickshifter smoother on the BMW. But the SF V4 is just at a level with power and handling that made the BMW a disappointment for me. Im curious to ride the M, but honestly between another Streetfighter or a Super Duke Evo R for my next bike.
@@adamalvey2491 I went and rode M1000R comp before making my decision. I bought the Streetfighter V4S. The chassis felt more stable by far. The power is better and way more usable. The brakes are better. The bikes more comfortable. The M1000r VIBRATES LIKE FUCKIN CRAZY. And V4S isn't a particularly smooth bike but I couldn't deal with the M. The only thing I liked more about the M, and I mean the only thing, is that it has cruise control. Literally e everything else I like better in the Ducati.
Since the winglets are only for aerodynamics and don't require tensile strength, making them out of carbon fibre would actually be a detriment. Carbon fibre is usually not a weight saving over plastic - replacing metal parts like the wheels nets you a big weight saving, but the plastic those winglets are made of are probably far lighter than a set of carbon ones would be. Being plastic also means they snap off easier in the event of a crash.
They do require strength, there are aerodynamic forces acting on them. They don't require much, being that they provide very little down force, but they could be hollow and lightweight and a lot more stiff if made from carbon fiber. Yeah, plastic is good enough for such a small amount of down force. It's really silly to put plastic winglets that are mostly for looks on a 27k, 205hp bike, though
Bitty Minnie Weenie 😂 *Kidding! You’ve gotta have some severe confidence to ride this bike! If you haven’t ridden this bike, you have no idea how much power it has! Easy does it. Thanks Zach for another amazing review!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one “Off Roading!” Haha Yikes!! ❤️👍😊✅
I’m surprised the variable valve timing isn’t called Vanos like on the cars, I realize they’re sort of different companies but there’s definitely some form of brand recognition
Hopefully yall keep doing these with nakeds, I'm currently shopping for an upgrade from my zx6r and I'm ready to switch to the naked bike life (and riding position). I would love to see the ZH2 and the 1390 Super Duke on here soon.
I'd save your money with the different maps from BMW and get the ones from BT Moto. Does everything the factory map does and more but doesn't restrict anything.
Cbr650r is a great street bike, smooth and well behaved machine. Cable throttle so only quick shifter is available. So it's only a question of how well the new e-clutch works if optioned.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Always watch this with a big smile on my face. Love your enthusiasm!
Zack Courts, always awesome!!!!
As an owner of the M1000R I think this sums it up pretty well! Great bike.
The offroad section had me in tears. Poor Zach!
Poor M1 😢
And he didn't show us the back of his jacket... with the tail of the bike looking like that, surely his jacket was also covered.
M1000r vs s1000rr vs XR vs R9t vs 1300gs vs k1600gt
It would just be cool to see a back to back and what excels at what.
I think I heard something about potential TT issues too, but could be wrong about that
is there any chance of an uncut, unedited version of daily rider? i often watch these in the form of just audio, so i’m not really watching, but the longer ones like this are my favorites. an uncut raw version would be fantastic
i have zero interest in motorcycles but i do have an interest in speech ,this presenter has an amazing voice and i listen to it for relaxation ,very therapautic
I’ve got one of these in Australia, meaning the full fat midrange like Europe, and yeah the shiftcam and the midrange meat is so much of the character and charm of the engine
And yes heavy bar ends help the buzz (I’ve got heavy lever guards in fact) but they don’t rescue those mirrors.
Who needs mirrors? 😂
Yeah, who's gonna pass you in that extreme machine?😂😂
@@jeanpequignot80 H2-R 🤪
There's an Aussie website called Bike Sales. Look up the article on the "GSX-S1200". Yes, that's not a typo. 205 wheel HP and 104 ft-lb wheel torque, bored/stroked 999 engine now 1173cc.
great review zack. the genie illustration at the end of the vid was the nutshell moment.
Hey just wanted to thank you zac for these videos i literally just started following you two days ago!
You have hours of fun ahead of you man. Welcome.
I'm jealous.
6:02 Sadly the F900R and F900XR do not get the dynamic redline, though they use the same 6.5" TFT.
Hey Zack great review! What gloves do you have on in this video?
We always list Zack’s gear in the description of each video, for this one he was wearing the Sedici Marco 2 Mesh Gloves: rvz.la/49KEjvF . Hope that helps!
Taking literal insurance nightmares on dirt and mud is why I come back to you Zack
For what it’s worth, my 2018 S1000R does have a rubber mounted handlebar. I think it makes a big difference. They’re incredible bikes.

LOL, Rub the lamp!! so good!!
Me? Not so much as of yet ^^
That being said I’m not sure this would be the bike for me regardless. 200+ hp would scare the life out of me and I do like the odd gravel road.
Try fitting heavier bar ends and a set of bar risers, Both fitted to my S1000r and helped reduce the vibration in the hands and mirrors
Excellent review from a humble yet very accomplished rider
Can we get some more of that track footage ? Thank you.
That track footage was great.
Aspirational bike! Just needs a nice ECU flash to get rid of the flat spot.
Insanely fast, insanely expensive, and amazing looking bike. Thanks for another terrific Daily Rider review!
I just rode one this weekend at a Demo day in Jacksonville, and it was very comfortable, I thought.
Lol at all the mud when you get to the office. You're a legend Zack..
Appreciate BMW for pushing back against practicality in favor of excess. Glad this bike exists.
M1000 XR: Hey! This is my gig man!
Carbon wheels on a motorcycle are insane freeing up unsprung weight on something that light already is just incredible
So basically you're saying without the CF rims this is a completely sane 210bhp method of transportation? Gotcha 😂
@@matthewcmeagher Agreed - but its already too fast 😫
@@anthonysilvestri4946 I’m not riding it lol
The free map update from BMW, I am assuming that is the break in update with the RPM limit removed? I talked to my dealer and they said they have not heard of a separate update from BMW after the break in period.
No, the torque optimized map comes from the factory that way, or apparently, you can ask a dealer to do it. It's not related to the break-in service. Mine came from the factory with it, and it was even listed on the sales tag hung on the bike.
Would love to see you review the F900R. Great daily rider IMO.
Agree 💯 Half the power and half the price - plus it won't land you in jail...
RevZilla, which one do you think is more comfortable to ride; this bike or the s1000RR ?
Can't wait for you to do a Daily Rider KTM1390 Duke R vid!!
I know it would probably be a logistical nightmare but would be one of my favorite set of videos if you did videos of the XR and RR on the track and stuff too ;)
XR and RR 👌
I’ve ridden one of these at a few demos and wow, it was a ton of fun! I highly remember you go try one out
Thinking of M1000R but damm my v4 tuono is soooo addictive 🇬🇧👍🏻
Your Tuono V4 much better than anything BMW
Thanks Zack for this quality review. It is quite honest and genuine.
I'm digging the s 1000 r but the prices are just dumb for these bikes so I'm sticking to 765
Right on brother - love my 1050! ❤
Would really love to hear thoughts of this and the Streetfighter V4S compared more directly. I have a Streetfighter V2 and kooking to move up.
Love and respect from England, off road on that bike is not easy, fair play
Lang lebe Motorrad!
Thank you Zack for another great review!
Had a S1000R and loved it!
With the torque map is 180HP going to be enough for the daily commute🤔
Not really - might as well buy a Grom instead 😂
This is the first video iv watched from you. Are you using a bone mic? Narration is so clean.
I wonder if aftermarket tuning would combine the top end and the midrange torque 👀
So charming! Thanks for the great review.
Great video!! Great bike, great motor!
The engine maps from BMW are free. There may be a cost for the labor. Im not sure about that, though.
should def do a review on the new Ducati 698 Hypermotard
very interested in the honda cbr650r with e-clutch. pls do one soon :)
Cbr650r is a great street bike, smooth and well behaved machine. Cable throttle so only quick shifter is available. So it's only a question of how well the new e-clutch works if optioned.
I love how you really don’t have to watch the video to get the conclusion of the review, you just have to look at Zach’s expression in the thumbnail.
