Oh come on. You've done nothing to fill the gap since Lemmy left. There is basically no content regarding Cruisers. One of the largest sectors in the market and you completely ignore it. Not ok.
I CANNOT believe you did the off road test after seeing how muddy it was. You my friend, are insane.
and he still hit the jump!
Glad to see Zack went for it. Just disappointing he wasn't riding an ADV bike this time....it would be easier to explain all of the mud that was packed in the chain
@@dirtbikesicehockey4788 He said it was already washed before the leader board section. Just hope BMW dealer doesn't watch their channel!
Seems like this s1000rr's dad was a gs
WTF guy is a mad man
I love how Zack looked at the mud, said "it's insane" and then you hear it click into 1st. My man.
I was like geez Louise and cheese!
He did stuff some people on a gs wouldn't do
1st gear or second? Sounded like second…. But that first gear is likely looong
Nuts!
Off road on this bike followed by a wheelie.
One day I will have this riding skill 😂
Zack, proving that anything is an adventure bike if you're skilled enough.
Any bikes an adventure bike if it's not yours
@@barnsnoble7066also true 😂
So basically the perfect bike to learn on while on my 5 minute ride to the local Walmart. Thank you.👍
Good bike to turn that 5 minute ride into a 2 minute ride 😂
I’m buying one🙃
that bmw accelerates so fast that you are going to overshott Wallmart, dude
@@viarnay lmao
Sketchyest off road section yet! Props for not wiping out over there, seamed horrible! lol
Finally an offroad section that scared Zack - never thought I'd see the day.
I guess what you really need to scare him is the prospect of an angry BMW rep.
lmao I was fully prepared to excuse you for skipping the off road detour. That is exactly why Zach is my favorite motorcycle journalist.
Boss!!
He’s great. You can hear the passion for motorcycles in his voice.
+1 on the XR. We still need a daily rider for it
BMW XR 1000 and Duke 890r needs to go on the daily rider board!!
Have a 21 xr, needed a tune and cat delete to come to life. These bikes are choked for emissions.
@@philipparana9225 What tune did you go with? Brentune?
@@jcl3j yeah stage 2
Zach did a recent review of the F900XR but I wish we could get this on the leaderboard. Maybe a youtube short?
That was the most entertaining off road ride I’ve ever seen.
Search "Baron von Grumble GSXR Off Roading" ;)
My heart skipped 69 beats when he tilted a degree or so
Insane off roading, I was stressed watching that part! Great review!
Bike just went to 80mph in 1st gear. My KLR 650 barely wants to go 80mph in 5th 🤣
So true lol
The RR can break 100mph in 1st.
My S1000R was slightly slower at just over 80 in 1st.
My 2004 Honda 1000RR did 81 MPH (gps) in first. Liter bikes have had crazy 1sr gears for a while
My 73 kawasaki f7 175 doesn't do 80 lol
Railroad track timber check. "I just want it to be over" choked on my coffee. Awesome!
This thing got muddier than many BMW GSs are ever gonna be.
Today's ride had one of the least off roady bikes on one of the off roadiest off road tests we've ever seen... Zach's awesome
And that was the last time BMW gave Zack a motorcycle
I think you should definitely do a track day and just like the Ducati , put it up against the 2005 gsxr
That would be a good track day leader board segment. I'd watch it.
Considering they're the same class and engine type, they'd likely be super close or the same result as the Ducati versus GSXR video. Ari put some serious work into Dave and at that particular track it can probably beat or equal all stock-suspension street bikes.
Zachs face on the thumb nail just makes these even better.
thank you for not wimping out at the "offroad" section. We all appreciate you taking that step for us.
When he got to the off-road portion, I was like "No way is he going to do this" but this mad lad still does it, LMAO.
when it comes to heated grips on BMW’s the “Hi” setting is intended to get the grips up to temp quickly. The grips will get too hot unless you have thick gloves on. “Lo” is the normal operating setting.
It's a feature!
I'm really glad you're back doing these reviews and with Ari. Love your content
Your honest reviews of these machines are very much appreciated. Thank you.
Best off road test for sure! love that you are willing to give everything a try!
I’ve had a couple of off-track excursions at track school on their S1000rr and found it handles surprisingly well, although I did not try it out on any RR ties :). I owned two of the earlier versions and purchased the 2021 model based largely on how much I love riding the school’s (CSS) bikes on track. The M package with carbon wheels DOES turn in noticeably better (lighter touch on turning in) even though the overall static weight savings is not substantial because the wheel hub and brake rotors are upgraded (rotors 50% thicker) for both the carbon wheel and forged wheel options. The passenger seat and pegs are a no cost option, as is the solid rear cowl. You can also effectively change the settings for street use by dedicating one of the three Race Pro configurations, and you can alter the way the hill hold feature kicks in. I’m tremendously impressed with the level of thought and design that have gone into this new generation of the S1000rr, and it’s reflected in the fact that BMW warrantees this 14,000-plus rev monster for three years.
Great review & huge respect for your mud riding skills!
So BMW needs a TKC80 option for those who want to do some adventure riding with their superbike 😊
Awesome ride. I enjoy these episodes it feels so connected as a rider. Keep em coming!!
Copy that, will do! Thanks for watching 👍
Yeah that was pretty cool props for not comparing headlights to the old version
I really did not think you would take that off-road when I first saw it but good on you for sticking it through there.
I think the place in the previous leaderboard is a good pick to me aswell. It's a bike you would never consider to own unless you needed one bike to do it all and you do track days. Orof course you've got plenty money to blow, want the status, like the idea of owning something "special" etc..
A pretty crazy bike to start the new season on, a bit out of the box for a daily ride but I like it. Thanks!
The hole, or flat spot you speak of is in the ecu only in north American models. A simple flash unrestricts it and becomes a monster in the whole rpm range.
Zack's outer-monologue going down that mud tract was the same as my inner-monologue when I take my bike down a tract and then realize it's a bad idea.
Loved the BMW REVIEW. 🔥🔥Which are the next bikes on the list for review?
Love your real world reviews 👍
Good review Zack.
Ride safe.
gosh inline four engines are so smooth. Great video Zack
As always, great entertainment from just a commute on two wheels.
The best video among 2020 S1000rr test drive
Love seeing your adventures !
Best beginner bike ever hands down💯
You have that insane laughter/giggle as someone who have just managed to escape from the asylum when you try out some of the specials on this. Love it!
Good review! Yeah, I definitely agree the single R or XR is probably the better daily ride.
I have had all 3 and RR is most fun by far. One of the comfiest suberbikes you would ever ride in anywhere.
Nicely done again👍lots of relevant info
The Shiftcam sounds like Honda's old VTEC. The power from the low rpm lobe falls off then it changes to the high rpm lobe. What some people did back in the day is use a VAFC to change the VTEC activation point to smooth out the power band a bit.
Great video review as always Zack - for the money there is no better super bike package (cruise control, heated grips, carbon wheels 💥) also get a 36k - 3 year warranty. A tune gets rid of all issues and adds insane power (but could cost you the warranty- if you get caught… lol)
Man I was cracking up so hard at your reaction at seeing all the mud after dismounting
Amazing off road ride on super bike, hat off to you sir!
Good luck getting another BMW press bike after your little trail bike excursions, loved the video.
judging by all the people impressed that he could even do it without dumping the bike I'd say that counts as good press for BMW !
You need an Insta360 camera for a different angle when you back it in. Awesome bike. Keep up the great work!
I'm impressed the s1000 made ur through the mud pretty fine
Absolutely brilliant video. Your road review is exactly what I wanted to view.
Is heat an issue with the S1000RR?
A bit about me: Had a Panigale 959 and Monster 1200R simultaneously. Traded the Pani for a Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak.
However, I miss the Panigale. Thinking of trading the Monster 1200R for a sportbike while keeping the Multi.
Seams like the S1000RR is a more suitable choice for predominantly street riding than a Pani V4S and better values as well.
Your opinion?
Nice video of the 2020 BMW S 1000 RR's handlebars and the road beneath you. 🤣
That sport bike riding position 😝
Happy New Year Daily Riders!!!
Awesome review Zack. The cajones to ride that beautiful machine in "Enduro mode" on train tracks next to a nasty puddle of poo... Hat's off my friend.
Great show, I'm watching it again 👌
Once you try electronic suspension you are hooked. It’s a magic carpet ride!
Good job Zach riding in the puddle. Imagine growing up riding CG 125 in the puddle with a passenger in the back + 220 lbs dry weight + fuel weight, albeit with better tires lol. That was my daily ride for a long time in different country lol. Focus should be to keep bike as vertical as possible.
The off road test was outstanding sir! lol love it.
I see the S1000RR has some R1250GS DNA in it :)
That’s my bike! I love it. It’s a track weapon for sure and super comfortable. I did the Bren Tuning to smooth out the flat spot.
I know MaxWrist is a big fan of that tune! Very cool.
Nice! I’ve been waiting for this one 💪
I crapped my pants, when you hit the mud !
Turning radius on this bike is HUGE
Zack, you make the point, this is where the extremes are (tech, speed, ergo’s) this is what currently represents a race bike that is street legal.
Yes!! I'm so glad he went through the dirt!! I'm sure it sucked, but it was fun seen a bike do something it was not designed to do 😂
Love the way Zach's voice reaches a high pitch whenever he is backing it in lol.
this made my day, thanks :)
Damn. You got some banger balls to take this bike on those off road conditions.
Wowsers, the adjustable settings on these new bikes! 🤪I can just about be bothered to change to daylight saving time on my dash!!
"Everything's cool, everything's cool" that was great!
Thanks for reviewing. my next bike.
That is one fine off-road machine!
Whoa! I WAS PUCKERED as you rode the tracks.
Fun commentary.
My fav motojournalist.
Love BMW’s S1000 series. The best in-line 4 engine period. A true modern marvel.
It looks like a VERY delicious bike if you're a superbike guy - which I'm not. I love the idea of loads of power with advanced electronics, though, apart from the mobile phone dash. And that mud stretch?! You're a complete lunatic! ROFL Thanks for another excellent video!
What a legendary bike
If anyone recalls the Mozart biopic “Amadeus” they might recognise the same demented laugh Tom Hulce gives as Mozart as Zack also does while pulling a wheelie or similar stunt. The comparison fits as both Mozart and Zack brilliant Mavericks with humour, skill and talent. This has got to be the only off-road review of an S1000….! Appreciate the tech insights and knowledge too, homework done here. Thank you.
Great review and ride, as always. Not to be that Internet "Actually" guy meme, but I believe that the bike that you ride in this video has the BMW-branded Nissin front calipers that replaced the Hayes calipers, post recall on pre-2022 model years.
Sounds good to me! Btw, have you checked out the roads in OC? There so smooth and clean! Great place to ride
I was super surprised you took it down that traintrack on the rocks. so lucky you didn't get a flat or wipe out lol!
Thanks for posting. Couple of points. There was a massive recall on the front brakes of the s1krr. Far as I know, all the Hayes calipers are to be replaced with the Nissin calipers. Regarding the flat spot. It is due to EPA regulations. The Euro version does not have the flat spot.
i think it is common for big liters. my tuono fell off too before i remapped
The model you are riding has the Nissin calipers for sure. The Hayes caliper models have a bar within the bmw logo on the calipers. Mines a 21 w/ Nissin calipers and look just like the ones on this bike
Great Daily Rider segment, as always, thanks, Zack. BUT...set your camera angle a bit higher when on the sports bikes, had me pulling my eyebrows out of sync trying to scope out the road a little further ahead of the front wheel. Best off-road section yet!
Yea, sorry about that. I tested three different angles before settling on this one, but I misjudged it a little bit. I like to try to show the dash and controls as much as possible. I'll keep this in mind for the next one. Thanks for watching!
Would love a track day video with it, Zack!
Chilly morning in Southern Cali does not compare to the freezing, snowy Midwest temps I'm dealing with here....so jealous.
When I've daily ridden "race bikes", or anything with an aggressive seating position, I love the air hitting my upper body, it takes the weight off my wrists. That balance is really important to fight fatigue, some bikes get it right, I've yet to right this bike, but it seems like a real dual purpose machine. I'd probably look at one of these long before I went to the $30k CBR R-RRRRRR...SP, and smile about the $8-9k savings, but it doesn't have that Honda RAWR!! up in the rev range, that's got to be an addiction quality noise that justifies a few of those saved $k.
I love this video!
Nice job thru the mud
omg, this video is insane! S1000RR in the mud, never in my life would I of thought I'd see such a thing. lol
HOLY CRAP that dirt road section I couldnt breathe
Pucker factor on the off road section a bit high! Not a bike for mortal, but very entertaining to watch Zach ride. What a mental scoot!
Very nice entry level daily commuter.
BMW had problems with the Hayes brakes which effected many of their models. One of the fixes were to replace the Hayes with Brembo brakes. I'm surprised that that 2020 was not replaced with them. I have a 2020 XR with that came with the Brembos.
The calipers do seem to be the new Nissin calipers that get installed due to the recall. The Hayes calipers look a bit different.
Nice review of a scary bike. I would love to see one on the new CBR650R from Honda.
I can't believe you drove it through the mud! :D
Small correction: These Brake Calipers are actually the Nissin ones wich were fittet on later bike. I believe they started to equip them from the factory line in the middle of 2021. The flat spot in the torque delivery is purely done electronically as it not aparent on euopean bikes. Greetings from Berlin, Ben
Dang, I was holding my breath on that offroad section - been there done that, where things gets super sketch but knowing if you slow down you'll drop the bike into the puddle.
Cool vid. Can I ask what jacket you wearing ? I need a good summer jacket and that one looks cool 😎
The face on the thumbnail says it all... Mr. Courts is a very happy boy today. 😆👍
