I think the cold start function is related to the need to rapidly heat up the catalytic converters. The hunting at low RPM is probably related to Euro 5 / emissions also.
I just bought S1000R. It is stock and jumping back and forth when trying to ride constant speed on legal speeds. For example 2nd gear 50kmh. Is it what you refer to as hunting? Do you know how to go around this issue?
The cold start feature is really more a complaint with your exhaust than with the bike. It sounds pretty normal with the stock exhaust, all it's doing is lifting the idle slightly to get the cat up to temperature quicker, most euro5 bikes do it. How's the bike supposed to know you've installed a de-cat exhaust?
The worst experience of my life was owning/ dealing with BMW . People say they are so well built but my 1st experience (GS1200) was an absolute rot box. Bought it brand new and from day 1 the paint was peeling off the frame and engine (my fault according to BMW !! ) .Argued with the dealer for weeks and eventually got rid for a K1300r. Jeez what a bag of crap that turned out to be and the dealer attitude was awful. I really hope you don’t have a warranty claim because the exhaust system you have put on gives BMW the get out clause they need not to uphold your warranty. Easily the worst company I have ever dealt with.
Ive got a 2021 S1000XR and completely agree with the mirrors and the hunting as my bikes does the same thing. The keyless is different though, dont need the key for the fuel cap, just have to make sure the ignition is off and it open just buy lifting the cap cover. On,y thing I have a key for is to lock my panniers and top box other wise its stays in my pocket all the time.
Don't feel guilty about the cold start my neighbours get that treat 6 days a week and the cold winter mornings it really does echo lol and do your neighbours worry if you're on a night shift and they cut grass whenever during the day?

you forgot the second worst thing and thats the vibration, has anyone seen a clear image when looking at the mirrors causally cruising in the highway? I'm afraid not. i try to hold the mirrors to reduce the vibration so i can see whats there but still no luck. And yes the low rpm is terrible, please let us know if the tuning fixed this!!

I had a 2014 S1000 R Sport -(Akrapovic end can, Pipercross air filter & a tune from my superb mechanic sorted the fuelling) - couldn't see shit in the mirrors and my hands & feet went numb on a France/Belgium tour because of the vibration. This is the vibration that BMW refuse to acknowledge as a fault but the dealers tell you the issue has been resolved - so I bought a 2023 S1000 XR - no it hasn't been resolved as I found out on another trip to Europe.....
I have a Hockenheim Grey Sport, replaced mirrors with bar end HJR’s, standard can I thought was pony, so replaced with an Akra GP and deleted the servo which cured the lack characterful noise, lack of engine protection so got engine covers and crash protection all round. Only other things I don’t like are the keyless or lack of, vibrations on bars and brake reservoir.
Is the s1r more fun to ride? Would you change again from street triple rs? What makes the s1r more fun to ride? I wouldn't switch because of keyless go, but in spite of it.
I had am 18 S1000R and the keyless allowed me to open the fuel cap when the ignition was off. Flip the flap and it popped up... Mirrors, bang on. But common problem on many bikes, I have found.
Wanting a keyless gas tank cap just means that some motor would have to drive the lock/unlocking for it which adds an unnecessary point of failure that nobody asked for..
My 2023 F900R had a keyless gas cap and I was very disappointed when I traded it for my 2023 S1000R and now have to get the key out of my pocked, take gloves on/off,, etc.

Well I have a 1st gen MT-09 and I reckon the low rev jerkiness is just as bad if not worse. A tune helped it but didn't fix it completely. I've learned to live with it over the 35 000 miles I have owned the bike. It's just how the bike is configured I guess. Might be a bit dangerous to new riders though. I have been thinking about getting the older S1000R but I have never had a chance to sit on it. Is the riding position really aggressive? MT-09 is quite upright and the closest to an S1000R I have tried is an MT-10 and that felt fine. Friend of mine said the seating position looked similar to a RR which my back isn't looking for.

Not so sure I think you'd change your mind in person...
@@BikesofRye I know what you mean sounds pretty cool tho really throaty
My s1000r was hunting at lower speed and revs ,it was not any better after full remap ,they did try to sort it out ,but lack of back pressure cause this problem, only downside to performance engines they don't really like running at low rpms ,my mates bike with full cat etc has no problems with hunting
My ZX14R could cruise at 10 mph in a parking lot really smooth
They gave me both seat and cow seat.
2022 Suzuki gsxs 1000 no issues here .
Only thing wrong is that it’s missing an R

Your really nitpicking
I'm assuming it's the time of the month...sad that this is the level of content. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
You want to get on a CB 1000 R
Naaaah the super hyper extra naked is now the m1000r :p bmw tricked their customers again with saying a naked with 210 HP makes no sense we will not do that and people thinking they bought the top naked from BMW. One year later there comes the real top naked 🥵🙄🙄🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️😂
I hate something like that. It’s such a fraud actually and they should be sued for this even!
low rpm jerking - thing is the same on my honda cb650r 2020; but thats not due to software- this is a hardware issue- on honda you need to decat your exhaused, and remove some plates/valves - all this due to stupid euro 4 ,5,6 standards! - basically your bike is being raped because of those restrictions (its the same if you would go for shit, and have your arse partially closed :) :) :) - removing it - lets the bike bread as normal, and that jerkiness dissapear
Those 7 things can be cured for about $5k
BRO YOU WERE IN SECOND AND THIRD GEAR AT UNDER 20 M/H what do you expect ?! :)) an old car would die because is wrong gear ! :)))
