Great insight into the non-shiftcam engine, Bill (13:22). The BMW Motorrad engineers wanted to give the smoothest possible torque delivery, which is one reason why they stayed away from the shiftcam (another reason being price) for the R. Seems like you concur... thanks again for a cool vid!
Love seeing you rippin on the "R". That's definetely the bike for you! Glad to know you're finally going all out on mods for it. Excited to see what's coming next for it!
the power looked good, fit the track well. My F3 800, I gave it to Sean to get finished, should be getting her back this week or next....Cant wait for that... AWESOME CONTENT AS USUAL!
I have a 22 S1000R and I absolutely love it. I have the same silver sport as you with almost the same setup as well. I put the arrow header on it with sc project gp can same as yours. I just love the sound of it. My next thing will be to get the brenn tune for it. I have got to get rid of that high idle upon first startup. Your videos helped me to decide what super naked to go with. So thanks for all the in detail videos you do. They are much appreciated.
Awesome! Appreciate your thoughts based on your experience. I just purchased the 2022 S1000R and am loving every second of it in factory condition, can't wait to put my own touch on it as well.
I currently have a 2022 S1000rr, and love it, but I really like the S1000r 'look'.... Can the RR loose the fairings and attach the 'R-frontend' headlight and TFT bracket? Opinions??
Great vid and I would go with a forged wheel on the single r . Carbon wheels your always worried about cracks and changing tires always worried about scratching them .
Great ride!!! Looks like you are way more comfortable taking turns on the R, looks like a more athletic bike. Obviously the RR, as soon as it takes a deep fuel and air breath, she flies, I don’t know. You need both!!!
Great comparison video RR v R....Im with you on the preference as I own a 2022 S1000R Sport (inc Carbon Wheels) and it is sooooooooo much fun....Please keep the content coming on the R.....as an aside I notice both bike had a kinda visor around the the TFT screens.....can you post links/details for these please
Great video. I have been going back and forth between these two bikes as a complement to my R1250GS, Based on your video I think the single R is the one. BTW did you notice that the traction control was coming on at the exit to every turn?
Recommend? NO. Now people will do what they want and that's their choice. I will say that of the 1000cc bikes these more easy to ride and have incredible electronic suites that will keep the rider safe. When it comes to beginners the reason lower cc bikes are recommended is because of the bike's potential. A 1000cc bike has insane potential for rapid speed, where 300-400cc bikes are far less in potential which means less chance to go insane speeds.
@@CaliMotoTV understandable. Whenever asked always get a varity of response. a good portion say 300-400cc, then others say 600cc and other say get 1000cc bike. Preciate your answer.
Hey brother thanks for the video. I’m wondering with the track rules about cameras, If they could keep you from running the SENA helmet with the camera built in?
The sena helmet cameras still stick out off of the helmet, it'd likely not be allowed at Chuckwalla. There's tracks that don't care about this and you can have your camera mounted wherever. Food for thought. The sena video camera retails for about $350. The helmets are about $350-500. This is probably not the type of helmet you want on your head, especially on a race track.
Hey tell me something bill, does your 2022 S1000RR camshaft rattles loud? and did you get a letter saying to bring it into the dealership so they can replace something so that it doesn't break , because if you let it stay at 10,000 RPM too long it can cause damage to the engine I guess or something related to it ?
Hello...i have a 2017 Suzuki GSXR1000 (L7)...I'm thinking of selling it and buying a BMW S1000R because it seems lighter and more nimble for road riding and also more modern...how do you compare these two bikes in terms of power delivery, but especially handling and overall enjoyment? Thank you.
Have you been experiencing the high speed steering wobble ? these thing are prone to. I increased F&R preload and added a Hyperpro RSC adjustable steering damper. Yet to test at speed so far.
@@windyrun7979 oh yeah, mine is an 2019 R however a saw a review on a 2021 R and he said still has the issue. He a German on youtube and seems experienced with BMW”s
@@CaliMotoTV an odd question Bill - how do you find the lights on the R? I do a bit of night riding and the lights on my ‘17 are pretty dismal even with uprated globes, and night vision is an important consideration for me
Seems safe enough lol. The bike has a ton more HP so the electronics will kick in more quickly. We're still figuring out the suspension set up for it, that may also be a a factor.
Well i have had them both and easily 400 mile trips daily. RR have one, if not the best ergonomics among all superbikes and naturally it only gets better with R.
Hi, just a query, if budget constraints weren't an issue, would you suggest someone get the regular S1000RR or with the M-package, if that person would turn it into a complete race bike, capable of competing in the likes of Motoamerica Stock 1000? Cheers for feedback
No, you'd end up ripping most of the M package things anyways. You'd probably not event want the dynamic suspension on the bike if you're talking moto america level of riding.
Great vid, luv listening to your opinions while shredding around the track! I'm trying to decide between the S1000RR and The V2 as my next bike. Which would you say would be more fun on the track and road? Would love to see a comparo on track :-) Thanks in advance!
It really depends what tickles your fancy more. It's two completely different bikes in their engine characteristics and cost. Ride both, decide from there.
Speaking of "turbo" which you only used as a charicteristic of the RRs power feel, BIGTIME overwhelming rumors the R1 Yamaha will soon be a Turbocharged TRIPLE which at first blush sounds un needed and potentially awful BUT lately with electronics and development of turbos in the automotive world that old turbo lag is now largely a problem of the past meaning it very well might work spectacularly! And losing one jug while staying 1kcc alone means voth TORQUE and significant weight loss (one less jug head header crank portion rod throttle body etc) which might totally offset the weight if not the bulk of the turbo?...add that it will no doubt be a CP3 motor ? It could be out of this world AWESOME! I just read a review on an aftermarket carb legal turbo kit for the ND1 2 liter Miata and supposedly no feeling of lag more like a V6 or something....accomplished in part by using oversized twin turbos employing miniscule boost which seems to be key to smooth so maybe Yamaha does something similar IDK. Great video. I have been going back and forth between these two bikes as a complement to my R1250GS, Based on your video I think the single R is the one. BTW did you notice that the traction control was coming on at the exit to every turn?
The TC doesn't really feel intrusive, so no, don't really notice that riding other than sometimes seeing the light in the peripheral vision.
Great comparison video!
What tires are you running? I couldn’t understand what you said.
Power GP on the R - we're swapping that to the Cup 2s
Power Cup 2 on the RR

It's supposed to help in the low end. But we really don't feel it does. The bike really doesn't step it up until you're above 9k rpm.
