    This was a super helpful video and as a result Porsche was very quick to service our transfer case box on a Macan S!

    I have had to replace the transfer case twice in first 27K miles on my 2015 Macan S. First time Porsche reimbursed me $3,000 for the repair when they extended the warranty on this part to 7 years due to so many problems with their transfer cases. 2nd transfer case I will need to pay for because I am 6 weeks past the 7 year warranty. Seems many owners are starting to replace for 2nd time. Porsche should be recalling the Macans for this issue. Very disappointed with Porsche for not taking ownership of their faulty transfer cases.

    Own a Macan S from new back in Dec 22 & it’s only done 6k miles & the transfer box needs replacing on warranty, booked in at Porsche for next month.
    Started juddering & skipping exactly what you said yours did on the video at about 4k miles 😬

    I owned a 2017 Macan S and I must say that I never had issues with the dealership, they were always very cooperative and outstanding customer service!! I then decided to sell it because of the timing chain cover leak that was common on those Macans.

    Hi Dharam, Thank you very much for your video and sharing your experience. I am having an issue with my 2021 Macan S occasionally failing to accelerate after stopping at a traffic light. It will get stuck in 1st gear at 5000-6000 RPM for about 30-45 seconds and then self-correct. Did you ever experience something similar? The dealership is clueless. Thank you!

    great vid, i went looking to buy a used Macan and between 2 and 3rd gear i was hearing and feeling that same symptoms
    also at low rpm the car jerks hard forward randomly
    and the crazy thing the dealership were asking over the average price
    lol i just ran away hahaa

    We have had 2 Macans (2014 & 2015 model), both needed a transfer box replaced. Original warranty was 5 years, Porsche extended this to 7 years as it became a known problem. One was done just out of the original warranty before Porsche extended it, the other just after 7 years) Both were not fixed at Porsche (Porsche quoted £3,000 to £4,000, but we had them done at a specialist for around £1,500) Porsche refused to refund, even after the warranty was extended as we didn't repair it through them. Fabulous cars though, just about to collect a new 2023 Macan S. Spot on, the warning signs of a transfer box failure are very slight juddering when going slow and through the lower gears.

    • @DownShiftThrottle
      @DownShiftThrottle  Год назад

      That's a shame you had to pay for them to be done. I collected my Macan S from almost 200miles away from home and literally a few weeks later I could tell the symptoms were there. I took it in to my local dealer and thought they may be funny about the ordeal.....but as soon as they diagnosed the symptoms they resolved the issue. It was really good after that. I placed an order for the new Macan S but the wait was over 18 months due to various global issues hence I cancelled it..... currently driving an Audi A7 and a Mk8 Golf GTi

    Really useful. Thanks. Bought my 2018 Macan S last year and it's still not quite done 10,000 miles - but the transfer box went last week! Pleased Porsche have effectively acknowledged it as a manufacturing problem and extended the warranty on the part.

    • @DownShiftThrottle
      @DownShiftThrottle  2 года назад

      You should have no issues with a warranty claim. The replacement part is a modified part with vents to allow cooling. Glad you found my vid useful. All the best!

    Very interesting video mate, I have the same problem with my cayenne which is going back to Porsche AGAIN this month as they said there was nothing wrong with the car when I took it to them first time, I don't think they want to spend the money on a new transfer case 😂, also have an oil leak they need to look at too.
    I purchased mine in November last year during lockdown so I didn't get to test drive it, I kinda regret buying the car and lost trust in the brand!

    • @DownShiftThrottle
      @DownShiftThrottle  3 года назад

      The transfer box is a known issue....I do agree that they must replicate the issue before commissioning the repair or warranty work. Oil leak should be a simple case for you as long ad you can point the leak out to them. Don't get put off the brand, it's better than the service you'd get from JLR lol. You might need to go out with a technician so you can replicate the issue with them. All the best!

    • @billyboy3053
      @billyboy3053 3 года назад

      @@DownShiftThrottle you'd expect an issue like this to be picked up during the 111 approved used car inspection which Porsche are proud of but no they'd rather let you find out yourself 🤣 may be I have high expectations but then why not if I'm buying from such brand 🤔 Hope you're enjoying the car now the transfer case has been replaced, keep up the good work and hope to see more videos about the Macan 👍

    • @DownShiftThrottle
      @DownShiftThrottle  3 года назад

      I found that the 111 point check even had a section for the transfer case condition and operation. Thing is though when cold the gear changes are smooth so even if it had a problem it would have not picked it up. That's why your dealership probably didn't pick up your cars problem because they may have tested it when cold.

      I've asked the question to Porsche UK and they have confirmed that all new Macan's from 2018 onwards are fitted with the revised transfer box design. All Macan's that are having these replaced are also being replaced with the newer design transfer box.

    My 2016 Macan Turbo 60100 miles was due to go in to have the transfer case replaced (Have been waiting for over a month for space to fit it in) but the 4 wheel sensors went the day before and so had to be taken on the back of a lorry to Exeter, they have replaced the transfer case but are saying that the 4 wheels sensors failing has nothing to do with the transfer case failing! Seems a bit of a coincidence, has anyone else had this issue with all 4 sensors going? They told me it was fine to carry on driving it and I love my Macan btw!

    • @DownShiftThrottle
      @DownShiftThrottle  2 года назад

      I think the 2 are unrelated. The transfer box is a mechanical part with moving gears. Sensors can fail all the time
