I had a transfer box failure at 30,000 miles. Porsche main dealers refused to fix. That’s why I’d never buy anything from them. Use a specialist instead.
I don’t believe you. Also - It’s called a transfer case, not transfer box. It’s very telling that you don’t know what you’re talking about. Powertrain warranty has mileage and year expiration. If it was proven to not be your fault, and should have been covered (i.e. still within your warranty terms) then you should have consulted an attorney instead of posting here on RUclips.
Since this video is 2 years old i might not get a reply from you or the community. Im looking at getting a Macan, but dont know whether to go for S, GTS, or TURBO. I know you said the S is ideal all round but looking at the bhp difference im really after the GTS or TURBO bhp. But is it really worth the money? Thanks
Informative video with a lot of useful info. Richard. Thanks very much. I am looking at a 2017 Porsche Macan (Premium package) that's got about 58K miles on it and it's a Turbo. Do you have any suggestions?
Yeah I would say so. In the UK porsche come with a 111 point inspection and 2 year porsche warranty, and at least 3mm of tread. I would personally upgrade the warranty to 3 years on purchase as most porsche centers charge around £200 during a minor service to do the checks the for warranty extension. Transfer box, and air suspension air the only common things to go wrong. Air suspension goes wrong on every car that has it so stick to main dealer warranty and low miles for air suspension. The 4th year service will need spark plugs and the 6th will need pdk fluid and filter.
I'd go for a 2019 or newer if you can. The timing chain cover leak is no joke at $10k for the fix, for 2015-2018, which may return anyways...my friend's 2015 Turbo did. First one happened under factory warranty though.
The S is great, but are we just gonna skip right over the GTS? I spent some time behind the wheel of an S and was happy, so I went and bought a fully optioned GTS.
I have test driven four different 2015 Macans. I'm close to buying a turbo with premium package. Had a pre-purchase inspection and it looks like I'm going ahead with it. It really seems to depend, from car to car. I'm checking out the service history and it has been serviced by Porsche dealership. I'm concerned about the transfer case, although no problems are detecting. I'm definitely purchasing an extended warranty package. Shop around independently for that, as the dealerships are way too high in price. Good luck!
Glad I didn't get one. I found one 2018 macan S with 53,200 miles for $36,700. It was in Preston condition inside and out. And had lots of add ons. The original owner paid 73K. Then I heard about the oil leak issues models 2018 and below had. I love German cars. But their expensive repairs and unreliability keeps me away. Are model years 2019 and newer safer buys? I really want one
Very good video, lot of information provided, I will be shopping soon for a used Macan S probably 2022. Will watch again.

They couldn’t refuse when the brand offered replacement under warranty because it was a known defect
Yes. They extended the warranty for 7 years
How could they ! It’s under warranty

If your budget allows a GTS is a wild ride, personally I wouldn't pay the huge premium for the Turbo myself.

Which optional extras would you consider essential when buying? Sports chrono? Sports exhaust?
Sports Chrono for sure, even if you don't use it it's good for resale.
how about macan base 2019-2021?
this is the comment im looking for. Bump!!

I fixed that horrid oil weep in a few hours and $3.80

Wow. This video dropped 13 hours ago and I'm first? How does that happen?
This or the Audi q5.
Rear seat room is poor.
Solution: Don't drive from the rear seat
so many bootans
Best advice: Don't buy a Macan! I owned one for a year and it's the biggest piece of trash Porsche has ever made.
What year, and what trim was your Macan?
What year, and what trim was your Macan?
what was wrong with it? its similar to q5 which is decent
SCOTT? -- NO REPLY YET....I DON'T THINK HE OWNS A MACAN AFTER ALL!!! HA!
Oh, well if he got a lemon, they all suck!
