The lessons I learned from this song as a young man. “Workin' too hard can give you A heart attack” “You should never argue with a crazy mind” “You can pay Uncle Sam with the overtime Is that all you get for your money” “Good luck movin' up 'Cause I'm moving out” Words of wisdom and still rings true. Thanks for so many years of great music that ties us to so many memories.
Unfortunately, it wasn't the song that taught me about dropping from overwork. It was people actually having heart attacks from overwork. "Is that all you get for your money?!?!"
I enjoy reading comment from people with personal connections to the artists or shows so here's mine(in all it's lame glory) I was 16 and Billy was my hero and camped out for front row tickets to the Austin show on this tour. Hours before the show I was hanging out back of the arena for a chance to meet my hero. Had some conversations with a big Italian New Yorker named Tony who was the roadie mgr. He was cool but of course he didn't help me meet Billy. That was him coming out on stage dressed like a NY baker during Moving Out (Anthony's song) aka Tony
People don’t realise exactly how much the piano makes the song. That’s Billy, th Piano Man. Go back and listen again and realise how much the piano does. If u can
Him & Liberty were very close so they were always interacting with each other. In Scenes when Billy fks up the lyrics “teet blu bleeds” lol he looks right at liberty & says “I know I suck” lol!! Just have to add in that Billy is the best ever!
When I heard The Stranger album for the first time, it was a wild amazing ride So to hear some of the songs on that album live is stunning! Thanks for uploading this
@Billy joel Robert steffens here. my fav song. I played it constantly just before I went out to college in Iowa and leaving long island for 5 years. Love all your music over the yrs. Started playing piano because of your music
Billy Joel first authored “Movin’ Out” (1977) to a soft ballad mystery tune he had in his head. When he performed it for his band in the studio, they informed him that it was identical to Neil Sedaka’s “Laughter in the Rain” (1974). Embarrassed, Joel changed it to a more rocking piece. In 2002, the stage production “Movin’ Out” opened on Broadway. The show was based on Joel’s songs, and he won a Tony Award for the orchestration. For “The Stranger” (1977), Billy Joel had the chance to work with renowned Beatles producer George Martin. But he made the unthinkable decision to turn him down (‼️) because Mr Martin didn’t want him to include his own road band. Instead, Joel went with Phil Ramone. In the end, it turned out to be a good choice. Even Sir George Martin came to Joel, saying : “You were right.” 💙🎹💛
This is incredible … Billy doesn’t make a mistake and listen to that vocal - spot on…then just listen to how tight the band is…oh yeah and this is all live….ahhh wish I’d been old enough to see this concert live! Truly inspirational! Thank Billy 🙏
Wonder is there is anyone else in India who likes such old classic song music in 2019....I somehow play this while getting for work at least 2 times a week....Billy Joel a real classic act....New York state of mind is another soothing number...
I practice singing of these songs.. I have recently recorded my vocal cover of stranger and piano man title songs without karaoke bgm. I also live stevie wonder, queen. Rock n roll and heavy metal that are classical and operatic are my real list of musical listening preferences
Amazing songs from my most famous Artist, Billy Joel 🥰🥰. Just give a listening ear👂 to his magic voice; I love his songs so much, How long have you been listening to Billy's songs?
I wish I was there…I was only fortunate enough to get some around mid 90’s ha ha poor dad had to pay for 6 seats…worth every penny in Toronto…especially every time one of his grandsons asks him on bill as soon as they buckle up…perfect…
Noone gives you the respect your songs deserve I will always think your one of the best song writing greats. I think your songs are the best.thanks for taking it on chin.
Why the hell wasn't Live From Long Island released beyond VHS?? No DVD, no Blu Ray.....it's his best live video release by far!!! Why not include it as part of a Legacy release of The Nylon Curtain....do something!!!

I am 55 years old and I have followed this artist since her beginnings and each of her compositions has always been relevant to me. Her most beautiful composition in life is honesty, there is nothing more true than the words of this song.

I am glad some of us feel the same way. Everyone enjoy your holidays.
Such stanza exhort us to take it easy, no matter the work we do. So correct

Was this like... the most legendary concert in history or what?
Like......no. Live Aid.
Its amazing, but no Live aid takes the cake
Johnny Cash live at Folsom Prison, or when Metallica did that free show In Moscow for 500,000 people
@@WembyShesty Have you seen Led Zeppelin live aid... might ruin the whole thing
Half the acts on live aid were shite

DeVitto never could keep the tempo in the live shows to save his life. Lol.
@@EmmaGlz211 True. But what a thrilling and entertaining drummer he is!

@Billy joel Best regards to you, Sir.
@Billy joel I doubt very much that Billy Joel would waste his time on RUclips instead of creating music. (Does that answer your question?)
@Billy joel With all due respect, you sound like a teenager.
There was a drive to be tight and sound great live by all rock bands back then... Billy Joel and his band were hard to beat
Talento Talento. Talento. Talento. Talento. Talento. Talento 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
