Ever feeling hopeless?.. I do sometimes. This song just reminds me of staying present, enjoying my day to day life, monotony, work, bills, all other gnarly stuff that I sometimes gotta force myself to do. But just look at these young lads singing their hearts out back in the 80’s, time is precious and ruthless, they are both over 60 now. I’m 52 and the 80s when thinking back were great times . Great music, movies, arcades tv shows but We couldn’t wait to grow up like every other generation
Honestly, this song makes me hurt inside. That feeling of wanting to relive my childhood and wanting to go back, but not being able to. Probably because I lost my brother a while back, so this make me think of him. I miss this era with every fiber of my being sometimes 🥺
And nobody listening to the actual lyrics, which are depression and forecasting of the horrible capitalist society we are in right now. Power, absolute power, its a terrible thing. All for freedom and for leasure, nothing ever lasts for ever. everybody wants to rule the world. We are cattle.
Brings back a lot of memories, some sad, mostly good. I was 23. Wondering if I’d ever find love. Then 4 years later, on October 18th, someone tapped me on the shoulder while I was at Tiffany’s. I turned around and looked into the eyes of my future. He introduced himself, we talked a bit, he asked if he could buy me a drink. We sat across from each other for hours getting to know each other. 30 years later, were still together. We got married, bought a house, and he’s given me 4 dogs and 5 station wagons. A few years ago, he walked into a hospital room, his eyes were so sad. He had to tell me I had cancer. It broke his heart. He’s been by my side as I still try to recover. I never thought I could love anyone as much as him. The music back then was the best, it still brings a smile to my face.
My recovery hasn’t been as we hoped it would be, but as long as we have each other, I’m happy. I don’t know what I’d do without him. I always gave my mom credit for us being together. The first time Matt called to ask me out, I was at my folks house. It was family dinner night. I turned him down, asked for a rain check. My mom told me to call him back right away, you never turn down dinner, especially if he said I could pick wherever I wanted to go. So, if it hadn’t been for my mom, we might not be together.
“Welcome to your life, there’s no turning back...” is the opening line of this pop masterpiece, a profound lyric. A song that makes me self-reflect. Once you’re here, you’re stuck with the life you’re given. So accept your fate. This is the message I got out of the song. We all live our lives in competition, competing with one another on who can be more dominant, more powerful, not realizing that power comes with grave responsibilities, and that people in power can lead lives of misery as they are subject to hate, envy, and scrutiny. Despite those truths, everybody still wants to rule the world. We never learn.
You are not stuck in this life; don't be myopic !! Listen to the song again for the lyrics, "help me make the most of freedom and of pleasure." Love your life to the hilt cuz there is no turning back...That's the real message !
Had my dad tell me once that this song “sounds like a sunny day in may 1986, car just turned on and on your way to school.” I was born in 2000 and I know exactly what he means. Miss you dad.
@BeeleeDatPleighboi 100 ...You are obviously a Millennial born child who was never exposed to the 80's American culture. Without a doubt! I'm 51 and this song was huge when I was a teenager. I don't give a damn whose around when I hear this song, gonna blast the volume. The emotions that I feel when I hear this song are all so powerful.
I somehow developed a desire to meet and talk with people who grew up in the 80s. I was a middle schooler back then, but I vividly recall how cool it was to be in that era.
Bob - Curt is not gay. Just because they do charity work and play concerts for those who are, doesn't mean they are. Maybe you got them confused with PSB (another great 80's band) !
One of the quintessential 80s songs, if not THE quintessential 80s song. An instant hit on release, and still one of the best summer songs ever written.
As part of our honeymoon trip, my young English, music-loving wife and I drove across the US in a Renault Le Car in May 1985; that drive is absolutely and forever the flavor of this song, plus Phil Collins/Philip Bailey's Easy Lover, each on the radio about every half hour.
The only song I’ve ever listened to that makes me feel something different every time I listen to it. Sometimes I want to break out dancing, sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry.... in my opinion this is the greatest song ever written.
I was near the end of to high school when this came out. A brilliant band with an impeccable ear for a hook. I always thought that no matter the music, there was always a deep tinge of sadness to all their songs. I think it just makes them all the better.
Childhood my friend. All the limitations of what I couldn't do when I watched my favorite childhood RUclipsrs. As I listen to the music, I scroll down to their most popular. Same here. Some nostalgia longing for childhood again ? Memories of childhood in the 80s I’m 45 now by the way. Every time I listen to this it gives me that feeling
one reason it goes hard on good days is because it says "nothing ever lasts forever" which to me means happiness and joy and all the fun times dont last forever.
Scrolling through here I once saw the comment “this song sounds like your last day of high school”. Today is my last day of high school, and my Calculus teacher casually played this song. Life is full of surprises…
see the problem with that expression is two generations used it very differently- when one was a child of the 60s, one was talking about the baby boomers who certainly weren't born in the 60s but had come of age in the 60s and were the movers and shakers of pop culture during that time. Fast forward to the millenial generation and "child of the 90s" meant people who were born in the 90s and remembered things before the internet and smartphones became the carrot and stick of everyday existence for the planet. These were teenagers shitting on younger kids for not playing outside or with Pokemons or some shit. born in march 77, i am absolutely a child of the 80s, but i don't identify with that decade... i much more identify with the grunge alt scene of the 90s... but technically i am a child of the 80s-

Nothing lasts forever!!
Welcome to your life, there's no turning back
인생이 시작된 걸 환영해, 되돌아갈 수는 없어
Even while we sleep we will find you
자는 동안에도 우린 널 찾을 거야
Acting on your best behaviour turn your back on mother nature
최선의 행위가 대자연(생리적 욕구)에 등을 돌린다
Everybody wants to rule the world
모두 세상을 지배하길 원해
It's my own design, it's my own remorse
내가 고안한 거야, 나만의 뉘우침이지
Help me to decide, help me make the most of freedom and of pleasure
자유와 쾌락을 잘 활용하도록, 결정하도록 날 도와줘
Nothing ever lasts forever
영원히 지속되는 건 없지만
Everybody wants to rule the world
모두 세상을 지배하길 원해
There's a room where the light won't find you
빛이 널 찾지 못하는 방이 있어
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
벽이 무너지면 손을 잡아
When they do I'll be right behind you
그러면 내가 바로 네 뒤에 있을 게
So glad we've almost made it, so sad they had to fade it
성공해서 아주 기쁘고 사라져야만 해서 아주 슬프다
Everybody wants to rule the world
모두 세상을 지배하길 원해
I can't stand this indecision, married with a lack of vision
비전의 결여와 결혼한 이 우유부단함을 참을 수 없어
Everybody wants to rule the world
모두 세상을 지배하길 원해
Say that you'll never, never, never need it
절대로 필요 없을 거라고 말해
One headline - why believe it?
헤드라이트 한쪽 - 왜 믿어?

one of the best of the 20th century!

Wow! What a great 80’s love story! I’ll be praying you get well so you can have many more happy years together!!☺️
Pray for you're recovery. P.s how are you doing?
My recovery hasn’t been as we hoped it would be, but as long as we have each other, I’m happy. I don’t know what I’d do without him. I always gave my mom credit for us being together. The first time Matt called to ask me out, I was at my folks house. It was family dinner night. I turned him down, asked for a rain check. My mom told me to call him back right away, you never turn down dinner, especially if he said I could pick wherever I wanted to go. So, if it hadn’t been for my mom, we might not be together.
@@ATLcentury334 Smart mom there. Bless you all.
Such a sweet story! Wish you all the best. Godspeed!
Ok
The song reminds you of grave responsibilities? LOL !! Make the right choice cuz there is no turning back is the real message ! 😍🤗
@bleep77 u seem like a person I wanna hang out with
I totally agree with that, we truly are stuck with this life and best to make the most of it. YOLO

see the problem with that expression is two generations used it very differently- when one was a child of the 60s, one was talking about the baby boomers who certainly weren't born in the 60s but had come of age in the 60s and were the movers and shakers of pop culture during that time.
