You're on a good track. English musos are the best. I am jealous you are hearing this music for the first times....I hope you have many more discoveries.
I am an African American who grew up in a predominantly African American community in the 80’s in the south (dirty south as we say in GA lol) in the inner city (nice way of saying in da hood) and my main exposure to music was hip hop, gangster rap, and R&B. While visiting my grandmother on the weekends in the country in a predominantly Caucasian community, i was exposed to Tears for Fears and i absolutely fell in love with their songs from the first time i heard them (as well as Madonna, Elton John, Kenny Loggins
Be glad you have the freedom for blacks to call you "weird" for "liking that white folks stuff". If whites called another white person "weird for liking that black folks stuff" we would be called racist. Glad you enjoy real talent. Wish I could go back to the 80's and stay there forever.
I agree about time machine. If you think the 80s &90s were good. Then take a minute and listen to late 60s to the entire decade of the 70s and before 85. It was a time of talent. Either as a singer, instrument player and even a song writer.
Funny you should say that because I'm 21 and I kind of envy the music you 90s kids grew up with. And I'm sure soon we'll have 11 year olds talking about how they're jealous of 2000s kids
I was a metal head in the 80s but all these years later I appreciate how great a song this really is. I crank it up in the car every chance I get recently.
This is a very true story this song’s declaring! We need peace but no one will surrender so far to usher in peace and love! All dominion and power belongs to who? Hallelujah 🙏🏽
Repeating history...us parents..grandparents...have to keep the old ...with the new. Make everyone you have younger than you in your family write a hand written letter to all your friends...
I like how these tracks are listened by every age. I’m 15 years old right now and listening to people like Duran Duran, Billy Idol, and Tears for Fears. My dad loves to put these tracks on the radio since I was an infant. Truly a timeless classic for everyone!
I'm Brazilian, and I still remember trying to understand the lyrics at the age of 11, but incredibly, this powerful song touched my soul. A few years later, I was able to grasp the meanings and understand that songs like this will never fade away with time because they have enduring significance. Thank you, TFF, for this wonderful gift.
Underrated guitar solo. Super melodic, perfectly in tone with the feeling of the song. This is a great guitar solo that served a song, not the ego of the player.
I remember this song so well. Just listening to it again now at the great age of 69 I just realised that both these lovely men had EXACTLY THE SAME SINGING VOICE . The exact SAME voice in two different people, just incredible. I love the part of the clip where Curt is kneeling down singing with the two girls - as well as having a gorgeous face he has pure light and joy in his smile. Just a beautiful guy inside and out.
Very few bands can plunge you into a specific atmosphere and period the way Tears for Fears do. In their songs you have nostalgia, anxiety, anger, optimism, joy and sadness.
100 years from today, people will still be listening to this song! These guys are LEGENDS! This song has endured the test of time and it will continue doing so for many generations to come.
I remember my mom taking me to sleep while listening to this song back in 86. We still sit to drink coffee at 4PM sometimes and I share my memories with her now that she's single. My time to take care of her has come.
I had been doing that for 6 years until on Valanetine's day of this year she passed at the age of 75 from a hemorrhagic seizure. I miss you mom. I love you, and will see you again one day.
@@liamnovak-lutz8890 my sincere condolences for your lost. I can't imagine how you feel but I'm sure she was in good hands and had fun during that time. Blessings my friend and may the force be with you 🙏
The amount of creativity these groups learned how to pull out of synth sounds in the 1980s was staggering, especially considering how stifling a time it was otherwise. Their songs were masterpieces.

I love how Roland throws everything into his songs with a passion. He really expresses the words unlike other musicians Ive seen. It's beautiful. I just love watching these videos of him.
Don't forget the drummer. You can tell He puts passion into his craft as well. If I was trying to start a rock band I would definitely have him as the drummer
August 09 of 2020, my Dad pass away, this song was one of his favorites, becoming mine as well, I will always miss you Dad, and today, August 13 on your birthday, heaven is full of joy because of you, I will always love you..
Just saw them live, two days ago in Dallas Texas. Most of the crowd, myself included, had bought their tickets 3 years ago but due to covid we waited...for like a loooong time. All I can say is, it was the best damn concert I have ever seen. Those boys went to work! It was nuts and totally worth the wait.
It's 2022 and this song never gets boring. Great song and the emotions you feel while listening. One of my favorite bands, I wish I was alive at that time.
I can't describe how this song brings back those feelings, emotions, senses, and great memories of the summer 1985, one of the best periods of my life. It also a little sad because one realizes they can never go back to the past and relive that time. One of the greatest songs ever.
Curt and Roland have the most beautiful voices. Their songs are so powerful and full of emotion. 191 million views ......Update 213 Million !! that is huge. This Video is timeless. This is One of the Best Songs of All Time !

They where ahead of there time! Damn there prophetic. There music speaks of the times we live in now but they seen it way ahead. This just touches my soul. So beautiful
And the youngest of them (if still alive) are quite a ways into their 40s now. Me, I turned 24 around the time Shout hit #1 on Billboard's US 100. I also like EWTRTW just as much.
My favorite track ever. Each and every time i listen to it i get goosebumps...timeless masterpiece that makes me travel back in time to the good old days when i was just 10 or 11 y o.
As a new guitarist in Grade 10. This was the solo I was so proud to learn. Such feeling...and easy to learn. Listening back now, this solo is similar to what Faith No More, Clapton, Pink Floyd or Metalica would do for this song. Even Eddie Van Halen. Perfect solo for such a great song.
Certainly the best song they ever made, closely followed by “Working Hour”. Big Chair was an astounding album, spinning off hit after hit in all directions like a pinwheel, each one a majestic, cathartic gem of emotion and therapy wrapped in a pop song. To this day, there’s never been anyone like TFF.
This song has so much meaning especially in today's society! Tears of fears warned us decades ago and fortunately I was paying attention! Love always B
It seems incredible that time has passed, for us, for them, for everyone...and yet looking at them and listening to them here time has not passed, they are boys and we are the same dreamers of then, ready to sing and shout with all the breath we have because in these moments time has not only stopped but simply no longer exists. Here we are, we are there singing and dancing like then, we are the ones from then, happy to walk towards our future, unknown and radiant as only in our 20 can be. Shout, shout, let it all out...
Vanay - People do it all the time during peaceful times. At least in violent times, self preservation is normally the reason. Remember, just because you hear a lyric in a snappy, pop tune doesn't make it philosophy.
"you shouldn't have to JUMP 4 JOY " I start jumping to the beat :) in defiance, against all those "JOY stealers" : Joyce Livingston. Awesome lyrics again ?

RUclips is a musical Time Machine! It blows my mind that this song was released nearly 40 years ago! But now many different generations are enjoying it on here.
Music is the closest thing to time travel that we have got!
That's because YT replaced MTV. This is a classic.

As a 17 year old girl who grew up with 80s,90s music only thanks to my dad I am so glad I grew up with this song screaming it's lyrics in the car
You had good taste in music I was teenager myself when this was out
Trust me when I tell you the 80s and especially the 90s was the peak of some kind of music
23 I grew up listening to 80's Thrash Metal Testament, Overkill, Megadeth, Forbidden, Vio-Lence, Sacred Reich, Destruction, Sodom, Kreator, Tankard, Exumer, Exodus, Death Angel many Thrash bands I jam out to. But I also like to listen to 80's Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Speed Metal, Hardcore Punk, Crossover Thrash, Death Metal, Glam Metal, Progressive Metal, NWOBHM, Doom Metal, Sludge Metal, Stoner Metal many great sub-genre in 80's era until 90's Death Metal, Grunge, Alternative Rock/Metal, Groove Metal and Nu Metal became great genre in 90's era
Same here! But with mom. We’re going this summer to finally see them. I could cry. My Mother’s Day gift to her and I

I‘m 16 years old. One thing I love about phones and the internet is that I can find such songs. I‘d probably never ever have heard such bangers.
Love you all
I was your age when I discovered this great band in 1983/5 ..56 now and still following them ..enjoy mate 👍
I believe it's the only one good thing about phones and the Internet. I'm 53.
You're on a good track. English musos are the best. I am jealous you are hearing this music for the first times....I hope you have many more discoveries.
👍
Sadly, back in the 80`s , I never realised just how good this song actually is. It has taken me nearly 40 years...better late than never.
Oh it’s definitely never too late!
I'm just starting to listen! Why on earth did I dismiss this? I'm definitely adding this group to my music library. 😊❤
The 80's weren't 40 years ago?!?! ...oh shit when did I get old. 😂
Same... Learning to love Mad World has made me listen to all of their songs that I didn't pay any attention to.
Its epic from the first radio play when I heard it when it was released . ❤it 😊
When you realize songs of your youth still make you feel young.....its a beautiful thing
FUCKIN GREAT JAM
Its a wonder drug isn't it
Perfection. What a song, and band.

Superb storytelling. Great stuff my friend, good tastes. K from Scotland. 👍
You have a true soul, my compliments to you.
Be glad you have the freedom for blacks to call you "weird" for "liking that white folks stuff". If whites called another white person "weird for liking that black folks stuff" we would be called racist. Glad you enjoy real talent. Wish I could go back to the 80's and stay there forever.
I'm 31 years old and have always been jealous of my parents growing up in the 80s. Especially in this day and age, i want a time machine. 😥
@@rachetsrevenge3367I was a '90s kid with two '80s kid older sisters. I had good music, but they had great music!

I was a metal head in the 80s but all these years later I appreciate how great a song this really is. I crank it up in the car every chance I get recently.
21 year old metal head here, in fact i love all that old music and i wish there were bands that still made true rock music like back in the day

you get older and you realise that anger, fury and righteousness can come in so many other shades and hues, eh? :)
It's cranked up in my car right this moment as I'm reading your comment and others like it. ^_^
Yo también soy del metal, pero eso no me impide escuchar música de otros gremios si es buena.
This is a very true story this song’s declaring! We need peace but no one will surrender so far to usher in peace and love! All dominion and power belongs to who? Hallelujah 🙏🏽
One of the greatest gifts to music ever. These lyrics just resonate in your soul.
"They gave you life and in return you gave them hell."
That is such a powerful line....
Repeating history...us parents..grandparents...have to keep the old ...with the new. Make everyone you have younger than you in your family write a hand written letter to all your friends...
So touching and beautiful line 😢
Never asked for it though; it was imposed. What about the abused child...Maybe make a song about that one....
Eternal eighties
My god Roland’s facial expressions and his intensity when singing this song is absolutely out of this world
He doesn't like the insides of his lips touching his teeth, that's for sure! 😂

The primal scream!!!
If we all start to shout what we have deep inside ourselves,
everything will go a little bit better.
I like how these tracks are listened by every age. I’m 15 years old right now and listening to people like Duran Duran, Billy Idol, and Tears for Fears. My dad loves to put these tracks on the radio since I was an infant. Truly a timeless classic for everyone!

Thank you, TFF, for this wonderful gift.

Eu AMO Tears for Fears!! i LOVE Tears for Fears
Jesus, that guitar solo on the mountain, wearing a coat, backlit by the setting sun, is highlander epic.
Underrated guitar solo. Super melodic, perfectly in tone with the feeling of the song. This is a great guitar solo that served a song, not the ego of the player.
In grade 10...learning guitar.
I learned this guitar solo by ear.
Awesome.
Great song. Powerful solo.
Ah, highlander... Haven't heard that in a while.
Exactly! That is my favorite part of the song and video!
Yeah!!!🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍 great solo!
No, their voices are different, not exactly the same
Very few bands can plunge you into a specific atmosphere and period the way Tears for Fears do. In their songs you have nostalgia, anxiety, anger, optimism, joy and sadness.

The amount of creativity these groups learned how to pull out of synth sounds in the 1980s was staggering, especially considering how stifling a time it was otherwise. Their songs were masterpieces.
Lyrics:
Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on
Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on
In violent times
You shouldn't have to sell your soul
In black and white
They really, really ought to know
Those one track minds that took you for a working boy
Kiss them goodbye
You shouldn't have to jump for joy
You shouldn't have to jump for joy
Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on
They gave you life
And in return you gave them Hell as cold as ice
I hope we live to tell the tale
I hope we live to tell the tale
Shout, shout, let it all out

Come on, I'm talking to you, come on
Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on
Shout, shout, let it all out
(Let it all out)
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on
And when you've taken down your guard
If I could change your mind
I'd really love to break your heart
I'd really love to break your heart
Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
(Break your heart)
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on
(I'd really love to break your heart)
Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you so come on
Shout, shout, let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on, I'm talking to you, come on
