Not really necessary in a situatuation like this. They can either ping and triangulate your mobile phone or (more frequently) as soon as you call 911 the GPS on your smartphone (turns on and) transmits your exact location to a server that emergency services can access.
So I would assume if you call 911, don't talk to them and only shots are heard in the background and the location shows a school - they will understand what's going on and send out police.
But yeah, in some countries (in the US I believe in some states) you can actually text 911.

The next time you're thirsty, think of how good it feels to drink something and quench that thirst. The next time you're hungry, think of how good it feels to eat and be satisfied. Think of how good it feels to sleep when you're tired or the warm kiss of the sun on your face or even more, see and touch the ones you love. Those are all things that we take for granted while we are alive. I cannot understand how it is "justice" to allow someone who murdered a bunch of people to experience any of those things for the rest of his life while his victims have decomposed beyond all recognition. I don't understand how it is "justice" to spend tens of thousands of hard earned tax payer dollars on a trial in which there is multiple video cameras depicting the crime and the subject is clearly visible beyond reasonable doubt. He has been identified by dozens of first hand witnesses and more importantly, he confessed to doing the crime. How is any of that "justice"? Who is it for? The State of Florida? What about the families and the people who's lives were cut short? They don't get to be in that court room drawing breath, but the person who did it without a shadow of a doubt does? And there's a possibility he could do so for dozens of years to come?

@Tiny Princess I never said he was on trial right now... I was addressing the point OhCrumbs made about Cruz not deserving a trial. I understand perfectly that they are making a determination on the penalty phase. Regardless, it is still a procedure which cost a lot of money and I guarantee he, or his family, isn't paying for the attorneys on the case. Furthermore, the use of the word "trial" can be used in many ways. For example, a pre trial hearing ect..ect.. so by trial I meant money being spent on the whole needless, in this case, procedures.

There's other ways to murder people beside using a gun. People in high positions do it every day. I think, some of them , just for fun, they'll get a poor soul's ss#, fire that person for no reason, and they'll black ball that person in society. That means no job. No job means no money, and no money means to become homeless. In my case, that would be murder. I'm nearly 62 years old. My track record proves it: I always handle my affairs with the legal system, but I do need help in dealing with those vicious monsters. I filed with the EEOC.

They'll stand up for a lunatic who would have no qualms about cutting them to pieces. That was the case with Ted Bundy. There's a cult in our country that picks victims, and they'll never let up. I'm nearly 62 years old, and I can write a huge book about what I've been though. There is a stage where the chosen victim will become narcissistic. I went through that. I was crazy. I'm going to get everything for me no matter who it hurts. But, I was insane when I thought like that, and it was spawned by my satanic hillbilly devil worshiping father and relatives. I mean, if you can't trust your parents, then who can you trust. After doing research, I discovered that a lot of the Italian People have something wrong with them, and they do believe in choosing sacrifices. They grant money and favors to the ones who do it. Fortunately, I found something that helped me to see the truth: Education. I developed structured thinking skills, and that helped me to capture sanity. Best regards Jen.

If you're dealing with people who have millions of dollars, and you don't have that kind of money, it's not going to be easy. I know a lot of them. I could name the Polish ones I knew too. Like Mark Olsen. But, they were just flunkies that were used. Det. Olsen? When I was 11 years old, he went around all over the city telling everyone that I molested a little boy. But, I didn't do it, and the boy wasn't really molested. He was assaulted. Some one bit him on the privates. The cops mysteriously accuse me of committing that crime. All they had to do is get me to bite into a piece of wax, and I would've been cleared. That's been 50 + years ago. Unequivocally, without a doubt, I did not bite that boy. His name? Robert Ottomanelli. Oh, and look what Crimo did! Some of them are insane, but they are very smart at the same time.

There is no way that a single person can deal with a case file this extensive on their own, especially not considering how fast paced the proceeding is.
Yes, this individual is beyond saving and horrible etc. He still has a right for a fair trial, to be burdened with all he has done and caused. All need to be equally equipped as all people should be equal in the eyes of the law. If they don't allow him to be represented fairly this could set a president for all other proceedings, including proceedings of less serious & non-violent crimes.
A defendant has the right to understand and use the law, the best way is to do that through someone that has studied law. A person need to be emotionally stable, competent and show understanding in the law to be able to represent themselves. This defendant is absolutely incompetent.

@@punkyspray in the US it's quite common to have a lot of legal aid present in the court room. I guess that has to with certain specialisations of the law.
Here we have a massive criminal procedure going on against a mobster. Only one lawyer sits next to the defendant, while another might sit behind them. But I know that with the size of the trial, and the amount of evidence etc that there are at least a dozen people working on the case.
To add: it's very uncommon to have so many witnesses take the stand in one day.
It also seems like the prosecutor is protecting the witnesses by not talking about the emotional toll. However, they are adding the weight of the crimes by the amount of witnesses that are willing to testify.

I hope she returns to teaching. There are a lot of schools that are much safer than her previous job. Architecture is a key ingredient that can save lives. If there is a hiding spot for every room, and if good security and practice drills are set in place, then the work environment can be a lot safer. Don't allow people to tell you that you can't work in almost complete safety because you can. This is analogous to how some of the idiots where I live try to tell me where I can and cannot look. That's none of no one's business. Law enforcement is already aware of who they are. We can't be safe 100% of the time. No. Not even in our own homes, so we need to set a message for the future. We need to become clever, improve the laws, improve the architecture of buildings. We need to do whatever it takes to secure our freedom in the future. Technology is a solution to everything. Eventually, it can be used to fix our world. That's what I believe.

Did the school officials do their jobs if they figured that he was mocked or not at the time? You know, all kinds of things should be considered, and to be honest, I've never believed a word X Gonzales ever she said, that only he had tormented them! That he was the only menace. I don't think the investigation that took part after... is not done correctly! I think they're very muddy waters about this. I think the court should've asked about the tapes since the time he was a student at the school. If everything isn't erased from the school archives. I also think the people who "knew him" and told him that he was the "menace" all hid something... Or why did X Gonzales and the other guys (I forgot his name was). The defense has an ugly job no matter how they feel. They must provide him with the best defense they can. If not he can appeal after appeal based on not getting proper representation. That is often why we see big cases over turned or back in court. If they want him to have a sentence that sticks then they must show they defended him.
