i loved this movie, but what i wouldnt give to see an alien isolation movie (or tv show) with mary elisabeth winstead (i think i wrote that right) as amanda.
Hi, the cryo thing. There are several majour problems with space travel: large distances therefore lots of fuel is needed, oxygen, food, etc.; acceleration and deceleration; shielding and weight distribution. Cryopods fix most of these problems: if you place a human into stasis you don't need to expend so much resources over the long journey. Assuming that you are well fixated into the pod you can withstand acceleration better - especially if your blood and fluids have a changed density. Considering the pods with you inside occupy very little space, shielding can be far more effective - say a compartment with several meters of insulation, i.e. led, water, etc. I hope this helps.
While the Offspring was certainly 👍🏻👍🏻, the zero-gravity scene (i.e., where Rain finally got the opportunity to *go to town* on the approaching Xenomorphs) was definitely a highlight for me, especially in terms of how the zero-gravity was used when Rain and Andy had to navigate through the Xenomorphs’ acidic blood. On another note, that hat’s really cute on you, Denise!
@@OfficialMediaKnights Oh yeah, someone took a video on set with the director talking next to the actor and it's so uncanny valley levels of trippy! 😵💫
The Xenomorph-human hybrid has to legitimately be one of the most horrific things I've seen in my life. I could hear some go "Oh hell no!" in the room 😂
I find it interesting the different reactions people have had in different theaters. My theater had laughing when that thing showed up, cause it was so goofy looking.
Nice! It made $349 million dollars against an $80 million dollar budget. It takes place 20 years after the events of the first ALIEN movie and 37 years before the events of ALIENS.
@@OfficialMediaKnights Well, the big thing about how they saved so much money was that they didn't use a lot of CGI, they did as much as much as they could practically. The xenomorphs were almost all practical, including the cocoon one. The CGI was reserved mostly for the swarming facehuggers and the acid effects, and even some of the acid effects were practical using panels made out of sugar, so that when water hit them they started to dissolve. There was also a lot of puppetry in Romulus, a skill that has nearly died out in Hollywood. And the fact the offspring 2.0 was a guy in prosthetics and not CGI probably saved them a fair few million.
Fede has suggested in an interview that he and Dan Trachtenberg (director of Prey) should co-direct an AvP film. Fede handling the Alien side and Dan with the Predator side. Now it’s all I ever hope for.
Oh absolutely, please make that happen. I’ve been wanting to see a third AvP movie ever since I saw the first two , and after seeing how great “Prey” and “Romulus” their directors would be the perfect choice to continue that series .
Maybe they can link the Yvaga system with the Yautja. I mean only thing people know about Yvaga are tall tales from Weyland colonies. That would be harrowing for Rain and Andy to escape all that just to wake up on a Predator hunting planet with the black goo.
@@JK-tw3ne I’ve got my own theory on the Yvaga system they are traveling too. They mentioned it’s a “Paradise”, in Prometheus deleted scenes the Engineers call their home Paradise. Also Yvaga doesn’t allow synthetics. So I think Yvaga is ran by David after he went there to eliminate the Engineers. He doesn’t allow synthetics so that they can’t stop him or his plans, he also broadcast its paradise to get more people/test subjects. This way it even further ties Prometheus and Covenant to the series.
The offspring is pretty disturbing, but fun fact: the offspring is portraid by Robert Bobroczkyi, a romanian actor and basketball player with outstanding 7,7ft, most of his close shots are made in real life
Went from seeing this kid everywhere on the basketball side of youtube a couple years ago to not hearing about him at all. Then bam, he comes back here and absolutely kills it.
@@benmason9755 Even Ekaterina Lisina, the tallest supermodel in the world at 6'10" (let her put her favourite high-heels on and she tops out at 7'2"), would have looked terrifying next to tiny Cailee Spaeny
I’m not sure if someone else mentioned this yet, but the Isolation save stations are more clever than they appear on the surface. Just like in the game, they typically appear right when shit is about to hit the fan. Every time one appears, the next scene involves danger. I adore that they chose to do that lol
@@Red-90 in the video game alien isolation, there’s these yellow phone booths around that the player would use to save. Typically they’re placed right before something crazy would happen in the game. The director put them in the movie to for similar scenarios giving a nod to the game.
@@biubiu-h6m Lol yes, because audiences that don't know aren't already expecting danger in every new scene anyway? It's a "spoiler" for like .25 seconds before the next scene that already conveys dangers in it's framing and composition anyway.
The scene with her dangling from the ship after getting rid of the Offspring, and the space station in the background being ripped apart by the rings is one of the most visually impressive scenes I have ever witnessed in cinema. This movie was incredible on the big screen.
I remember it as one of my best cinema experiences of these last years! Moreover the exit of my usualy cinema has very dark stairs out of the building, and it was raining with lightning as I went back to home. The whole package!
At first I very much didn’t like that that they used the late great Ian Holm’s likeness for “Rook”, but later I found out that not only did his family approve, they said also Ian would’ve loved to have been part of this movie because he loved working on the first one so much. And I agree he would’ve loved to have been a part of this, just watch old interviews of him talking about Alien. Also, I thought it was very clever for the company to name their androids after chess pieces, like Bishop and Rook. It shows what the company thinks not only of its androids, but of all of its employees, as nothing more than disposable pieces on a game board that can easily be replaced.
Love the chess piece reference! Like you said, it says a lot about how “The Company” views things. What’s scary about the whole situation is that it always seems like they have a backup plan. There’s so much we still don’t know about Weyland - Yutani we’d love to dive deeper into it!
"I thought it was very clever for the company to name their androids after chess pieces" @thedarkknight2221 Oh Yeah! Like David... Oh, I mean _right,_ like Andy!... Hm. Oh I know, the chess piece Call! Call? Right? Which piece is that 🤔 Wait, where does the "Walter" chess piece sit on the board?
@@Trepanation21 Don't forget about Ash himself. Yeah that wasn't super logical. The worst part for me was how bad the 3D looked. I legit still can't tell if it's AI work or not, that's how uncanny it looks to me. And for what purpose, the character doesn't even do all that much, it could have been any other android, they just wanted to make him say all the lines from Alien, as if rehashing an old movie was gonna make a great one. I love Alien(s) but every time they reused a sentence I just rolled my eyes. To me it just breaks immersion.
It's just very distracting, not just because of how the effect turned out, but along with all the extremely on the nose references to other films. They just went too far with that stuff, takes me right out of the movie.
Cailee, Isabella, and David all did a fantastic job imo, despite a lot of people criticizing the whole "no name actor" thing when the trailer dropped. Also thought Archie (Tyler's actor) did a great job in that door scene when he was begging Andy to open the door
@@gg025 I know Isabela from Dora lmao. And I just realized it while watching it in theater that the actress who played Rain is Cailee from Civil War. Didn't know her name before. Love her as the franchise's new heroine, although I'm sure there won't be a sequel for this one. And I agree with you. The rest of the cast did a fantastic job.
The director said Alien: Isolation was a massive influence on this movie, and it shows. I like to think that Romulus’ success helped to green light the sequel to Isolation. Also human/engineer/xenomorph *”Offspring”* looked like every nightmare I’ve ever had rolled into one, cloned itself, fucked the clone, and then birthed THAT!
Oh you can so tell, the love for the game and the lore in general is so apparent and it made us so so happy! Also LMFAOOOO your comment about the Offspring has us in stitches 😂😂😂 It really is nightmare fuel, that s*** is gonna haunt our dreams for the foreseeable future!
@@OfficialMediaKnights in scenes before shit hits the fan you can see the alien isolation save points on the wall, I was so pumped to spot that in theatres
I really like Prometheus except for one or two blunders. (Why the hell did the permanently scared idiots suddenly touch the space cobra?!) And I am sad, that Ridley Scott was not allowed to make the trilogy he had it mind because people hated the film for not being an Alien film, despite it being a solid sci fi spin-off story within the same universe, as intended. By the way I believe Alien Covenant is Scotts middlefinger to those "fans" and him being portrayed by David, who says stuff like "I am not here to serve". And this middlefinger also includes the most boring origin story for the Xenomorph imaginable: "you did not like my vision and you want Aliens -> here you get Aliens and btw the Android created them. Fuck you :)"
@@PaddydPadthe salty, petty scott raising his paw to the fans with covenant? Absolutely! Nothing like a director acting like a five year old and spending millions of dollars to get his message out. And despite him...I dug Prometheus.
This movie felt like a great return to form for the franchise. Fede Alvarez understands the visceral nature of the aliens and it shows. Cinematography is on point too.
One of the best and most chilling moments of foreshadowing in this movie has to be the painting they see when they enter the station. Right before Bjorn says "this place gives me the fuckin creeps" it zooms in on a painting of Rome during an outbreak of Plague, and then zooms in further on an infant attempting to nurse on the corpse of its plague victim mother.
Poor Kay, she really went through hell 😭 Navarro was Bjorn’s adopted sister. And Bjorn is Tyler and Kay’s cousin but also the father of Kay’s unborn baby. Fede confirmed this when people pointed out their interaction. Such a weird family 😭
I saw it more like, Tyler and Kay are step siblings. She has an American accent and he has a British one. So Bjorn is Tyler’s blood cousin, but Kay’s step-cousin.
Just want to give a round of applause to the unsung hero of this film, Robert Bobroczkyi. He is the 7-foot-7 Romanian-Hungarian basketball player who played the Offspring at the end of the film. His body language acting is astounding as the creature, especially given that this was his first time acting.
YES I WAS JUST ABOUT TO COMMENT ABOUT THIS RELEASE! Loved this movie, you can tell how much the director loved this universe making everything mostly practical. He did say “if practical is possible we’re doing it”. This movie was a success with only an 85 million dollar budget and exceeding the box office with over 200 million in profit. BUT PLEASE GUYS! Another movie released on stream yesterday, a dreamworks project called THE WILD ROBOT. This movie deserved more praise, honestly best animated movie since the how to train your dragon franchise and I HIGHLY recommend it. Everything you’d want from a dreamworks movie from great animation, heartwarming story, emotional, good characters, great voice work, and honestly just an awesome time. Love you guys
We had a blast! Fede Álvarez knows how much practicals matter and we were so happy to see it implemented here. Thank you for your suggestion! Adding it to our list ❤️
I thought exactly the same, this movie achieved what Scott tried with Covenant, to unite the original saga with the prequels. Fede did an amazing job and he completely managed to accomplish that in a way that totally makes sense.
Little fun fact I love: In this scene 42:47, Fede Alvarez asked the crew to throw ice-cold water on Isabela without her knowing. I love seeing her reaction, lol!
When Andy replies to Rain’s question, “how could you do that”, with, “what? Leave someone behind”, it’s done with such lack of emotion, like he’s trying to get her to realize that as long as you can see an event from a certain perspective, you can justify any action you like. Maybe if Rain starts thinking like that she’ll survive this nightmare. Andy’s way of doing what’s best for Rain while being hamstrung by his new directive.
Fede Álvarez (the director) is a huge gamer and he has stated several times that Alien: Isolation was a huge influence on this movie (you can actually see the game's terminal game-save thingies in the Romulus space station). He also got the idea of getting a character pregnant when he played TLOU Part 2, when Dina gets pregnant in that game. Coincidentally, Isabela Merced, who plays the pregnant girl here, will play Dina in HBO's second season of TLOU, lol.
Alien Romulus is a love letter to the entire series! It is just so good that it breathed new life into the series and expect to see more in the future. Seeing this made me happy that one of my favorite movie series get love!
I liked how Romulus low key tied up some of the loose ends from the two Ridley Scott prequel films by connecting the black goo directly to the Xenomorph. The Engineers were harvesting this "gift" from this perfect organism and using its remarkable genetic plasticity as a basis for their own biotechnology. The fact that the Offspring at the end of this film resembles an Engineer indicates that the Engineers were using Xenomorph DNA to genetically enhance themselves. Perhaps this is what gave them the ability to traverse through space so they could seed more worlds with life.
Im pretty sure Ridley Scott is trying to remove the Alien queen from the franchise and do what he wanted to do with Alien 1. We got eggs, but no sign of a queen for 3 movies now...
Alien: Romulus was the first time in almost a decade I had been genuinely *scared* of a horror movie, and I LOVED IT! The scenes of trying to sneak past the facehuggers, shooting the Xenos in zero gravity, dodging past all of the acid blood in zero gravity, and then final scene of trapping and killing the *”Offspring”* as it was credited, all felt like something out of a top tier horror action game. And hopefully Alien: Isolation 2 is just as amazing as this movie.
Thanks for the shout-out, guys. I love your channel, you have quickly become my "feel good-place" during my "feel bad-times". Happy to be on board. ❤❤❤ (And again, I'm really impressed by Denise's German pronunciation 😊)
Yall are amazing! The only reaction channel that ACTUALLY PAYS ATTENTION and appreciates every little piece of the movie. Not to mention giving your honest opinion at the end of each movie. You two are absolutely awesome and keep doing what youre doin :) PS You 2 should watch Immortals.
The kicker for me is they knew about the Nostromo, Ripley still floating around in space asleep. And when she's in front of the board of directors at the meeting they knew she was telling the truth at least a few of them did. And side note they also know there's a pissed off Queen floating around space after Aliens
The queen alien from aliens might not actually be alive. It depends on how close they were to the planet. If they were close, the queen would definitely burn up on re-entry. The alien in the first movie was floating in open space, so nothing to alter its path.
The Narcissus with Ripley in it still in cryo is in this film onboard Romulus station. You can see it at the end of the hall at 43:51 when Andy refuses to open the door for the pregnant girl. It’s also in the background at the end where you can see it being released from the station as its crashing into the rings.
It's wonderful to see new fans discovering this franchise. I saw the original Alien and Aliens on VHS with my dad and brother in the 80s. All the others I've seen in the theaters including Romulus with my brother (our dad passed a few years ago). This movie is a love letter to the fans and the original four movies. It also does a great job of explaining things to the non-Alien fans in the audience. You get so much more if you know the history but it functions on its own as a haunted house in space. :)
"how it's unfurling" you guys have the best words and descriptive diction amoung movie reactors, what with your talk of lighting, script, pacing etc makes any movie a pleasure to watch with you both, and this was a great one anyway (yep I still think it slightly missed the mark, but overall a welcome addition to the franchise) thanks so much guys, The Media King & Queen more like! :D
I’m posting this before I watch this. First of all I’ve loved all your reactions/gameplays. My gf and I of 14 years are huge fans of the Alien saga. We unfortunately broke up before this film came out and it was devastating. I had no intentions on seeing Romulus. But seeing you guys watching it. I’m looking forward to watching it with you guys. ❤
Hey Colin! Thank you for checking out our gameplays as well. That means a lot to us. Sorry to hear that, we’re sending you all the love and hope you have a good time watching ❤️
The xeno strung up from the celing is the Big Chap that Ripley blew out of the airlock of the Narcisus at the end of alien. It still has her harpoon stuck in its back.
It's also shown to actually have the "human skull" (complete with eye sockets) inset into the front of the elongated head, just like the original design, also separating it from the iterations that appear on the Romulus.
Did you notice that it is actually the original Alien movie, Xeno too? the one hanging on the ceiling? You can see a close up shot with the harpoon Helen Ripley shooted at it to get rid of it still stuck in. The fact that it cocooned to survive in space is such a cool addition.
My favorite thing about Raine and Andy's relationship is she asks him what he wants to do and ensures it isn't because she is asking. Basically what many fanfics focus on in Walter-centric fic. Ensuring he is consenting and not just following a program/directive. Consent is something most media gloss over.
This movie surpassed my every expectation, so much love for the franchise was evident in the making of this film, and the cast was perfect. Andy’s performance in particular was incredible. I also saw an interview with Fede where he said alien isolation was a huge influence on this film, which was so evident as y’all pointed out and made me so happy. I’ve been waiting for y’all to react to this and you guys enthusiasm and enjoyment did not disappoint! Thank you for this! Oh and I don’t know if y’all saw, but they just announced a sequel to alien isolation the other day, finally we are gonna get another game!
Just clarifying, the reason the xenomorph didn't straigh up Rain in the elevator scene (Or kay earlier on), at least in my head canon, is that they're using them to breed more xenos and they need people to be alive in order to get preggy
@@blackwidow7804 How do you know? It cuts away. So that’s not an “I gotcha”. What makes the Rain thing worse than just catching her. The Alien does the Alien 3 thing of getting in her face but does nothing. Only in Alien 3 it made sense because Ripley was a host to a Queen. Whereas here it makes no sense. So nice try but you’ll have to do better than that.
I’m so glad you guys also appreciated Andy’s call back to Ripley’s iconic line. Like even me, Aliens is my favorite in the saga and that line is SACRED to me. But I understood why he delivered it that way and even said it at all. Weakest part is the Ash cgi but I still thought it was a cool addition. Wasn’t totally necessary but I’m not mad at it. Also his name being Rook made me giggle; Bishop, Queen and now a Rook. Clever girl. 😂 I knew I could count on you guys appreciating all the details. I freaked out when I saw the save stations and pretty much an exact replication of the room from Isolation, the white table and computers. Tells me Fede was definitely referencing everything including the game.
Been waiting for this one from you two. This was love. This was nothing but love and care for the Alien universe. I’m so proud of what they made here, and the precedent they set moving forward. Between this and Isolation, life has been restored to such a beautiful franchise that has so many more stories to tell.
The one movie that resurrected the Alien Isolation sequel... It was amazing watching this in the big screen EDIT: Fede made sure to use all alien lore, including Colonial Marines and Isolation. Amazing
To let you guys know as you kept mentioning Alien Isolation. Fede said the game was his inspiration for this film 😂 Also he was playing The Last Of Us 2 while making this film and he cast Isabela Merced, due to being inspired by Dina from that game... ...only for Isabela Merced to be cast as Dina in TLOU Season 2 while they were filming Romulus 😂
42:14 What does make this new stage more terrifying is that the host dead body the girl that died her body was no longer there which most likely means that after the alien shedded it most likely went back for her dragged her into the cocoon and began eating her so it can grow 😨 Also I know this is completely unrelated LOL but you think you guys could react to the new "The Wild Robot" by Dreamworks it is one of their best movies ever since Prince of Egypt and it's up there with How To Train Your Dragon along with the score the music is so good which I think you both will love?
The actor who played Andy did a great solid job. His face really did the trick. I think he is the first Android i saw that killed Xenomorph with the pulse rifle. They do a lot of references in this too. The jokes lines was good too. Hellboy : The Crooked Man next, please.
@@idiot_city5444 you think that the original team working on it gives you some sort of guarantees for it to be good? In how many cases in videogames, books, music and movies have we the same people creating the most perfect piece of art but then when making a sequel they just fell all the way done with the rest of common tropes? Too many. Don't have expectations at all for a start, no matter what, having expectations is your first mistake.

@@kylewestlake982 Scott also seems to like Fede and was the reason he got to make a alien movie as Scott remembered Fede talking to him about a script and told the studio to hire him to make one when the studio came to Ridley about another alien movie.
By far the best reaction to this film on YT. Watched a lot of them and they either make the vid too short, talk too much or keep asking "whats this?, who's that?, whats going on?" Like they've never watched the anthology or know the lore. These 2 do. They are fans of the originals and to some degree the AVP films and most importantly they have gone through the sweaty nightmare that is Alien Isolation, where a lot of this film got its inspiration from. Well done guy's and keep em coming.
This movie felt like a live action of alien isolation. I've heard people hating this movie. Honestly. If you hate Romulus. Good for you. I loved this movie. Fede Alvarez brought alien back to it's horror roots . The body horror. The claustrophobic horror. The offspring will give me nightmares. In resurrection i was laughing at newborn . But they actually made this newborn (offspring) scary as fuck . They added one more stage of the xenomorph life cycle which was the cocoon stage . This movie was the CPR of the alien franchise. And seeing that alien isolation is getting a secual . Yeah let's fucking goooooooooo!!. My ranking of the alien franchise 1.Aliens 2.Alien 3.Alien Romulus 4.Alien covenant 5.Prometheus 6.Alien 3 7.Alien resurection Edit . The fact that we the big chap himself again was 🔥
This was so metal. Also it's a spectacular love letter to the whole franchise. This is how you do fan service right while also adding to the franchise. Put Rain and Andy on the wall right next to Ellen and Bishop as the heroes of the alien franchise.
The final 15 minutes of this movie had my entire theater shocked and in silence. I remember people, myself included, gasping at the first appearance of the offspring. So well done!
I'm really glad I didn't watch the trailer for this film. I felt like the trailer spoiled the surprises in the film. I think one shouldn't be surprised with all the sexual imagery, as the Alien franchise constantly throws taboo topics on your face like a facehugger to keep you in that primal disgust and fear. Remember that this series started with the imagery of forced impregnation on a guy and the subsequent violent birth. Sex, pregnancy, and birth have been the core of the Alien franchise.
Fede Alvarez took a lot of inspiration from Alien: Isolation and in all honesty I think he is one of the main reasons we’re getting Isolation 2 after so many years. Also this was my movie of the year even over Deadpool and Wolverine.
A fantastic reaction Ari & Denise your passion & excitement reacting to this was a joy & i felt i was watching the movie with friends you pair truly are awesome & playing Alien Isolation added more as you noticed the easter eggs from the game as well as nods to the previous movies. I hope we get a sequel to this & if Fede does a Predator crossover movie with Dan it would be awesome & be cool if we could have the marines back to add more bad ass action, I'd love see the marines battling both alien & predators.
Absolutely nice reaction, you two! I watched this movie in the theater when it came out and I picked up my jaw on the floor, the whole time. Great work you guys! 😎
Andy’s story in this legit made me tear up. The way they handled him as a form of autism rep was so good. He’s always following along with what others want, and never actually gets to make a choice for himself, because something autistic people like me tend to do is prioritize everyone else’s needs before our own. He’s only ever allowed to be the tool to conform to everyone else while his imposed “best self” is the cold non-quirky one that has none of his energy. It’s only when Rain gives him back his quirky personality that he truly breaks out as an individual, and I found that to be strangely moving.
You guys are ridiculously fast with these reaction releases 😂 definitely look into some behind the scenes stuff for this one. It's so refreshing seeing how much practical effects they used!
Ahhhh! So happy with your guys’ reaction. I don’t have friends that are fans of the Alien franchise and just seeing your reactions with all the easter eggs is so fun to watch ❤ Thank u guysss! 🙏
they did such a great job on this movie and really hope they continue with this saga. i am so happy they even brought back the original android from alien. all the easter eggs hinting to the original characters and isolation are written in so well. The xenos looked absolutely amazing and terrifying and whatever that alien was at the end with the creator type face will give me nightmares for weeks. thank you so much for the amazing review. keep on rocking🤘
1:06:03 I was waiting for you to see this part, without a doubt the scariest thing we've had in the cinema in years, without the need for a screamer, just silence, this scene is terrifyingly perfect We were immersed in the lore of the saga for years and yet this caught us all off guard.10/10

I felt so seen with the passion and excitement you both had, I was screaming along side yall 😆 so happy yall had a good time and caught all those isolation refs!
Andy wanted a horse and to call it Raindy (Rain + Andy)... the Android has self awareness and dreams... he wanted to be at Varga with his sister. It was touching that he would sacrifice himself for her despite his own self-preservation desires. His programmed directives override selfish needs. I'm glad Rain gave Andy permission to put himself equal to her.
I saw this movie at theater last month and I can tell you this movie was freaking awesome. So good to be a geek and good sci-fi fantasy horror movies fan ;)
fede alvaez and the people he had in his creative department being able to bring to life the creatures the visual effects the anticipation and scare factor throughout and especially towards the end was good damn good i wouldn't be surprised if they are able to do another alien franchise movie
I like how there’s alien isolation easter egg and ngl the movie had the same atmosphere that alien isolation had. I’m so happy that after 10 years of waiting there making a sequel to alien isolation!!
Right?! There were so many elements that we loved about alien isolation that were so prominent in this - and holy cow, it worked so well! We are so pumped for the Alien Isolation sequel, it's long overdue!
The aliens in Covenant are seperate from everything else and that is confirmed. The ones here are the originals and their origin for those who don't like it being explored is technically still a mystery as we don't actually know if the Engineers made them or just discovered them. The company was aware of the Xenomorphs and black goo because of the transmission David sends back to Earth in the Covenant short film "Advent" where he details all of his experiments. Seems like a lot of people haven't seen it, it's a pretty creepy short and fully explains how the company knew so much even during the events of the original Alien. Everything is now tied together really well and the only things we're unsure of at this point is what happened to David, are the Engineers still around and did they create the Xenomorph or not.
I’m an apologist for every Alien film in the sense that I think that they all have something cool to add and are, at the very least, fun movies. I also believe Alien and Aliens are benchmarks that we’ve never quite been able to reach again since 1986….but I can finally say they’ve managed to get there. Alien Romulus is a love letter and is a type of movie we just don’t get anymore. Was there nostalgia bate? Sure, but to me it never felt like reaching, it felt like the filmmakers using that shared language we’ve developed over the decades this franchise and its extended media have existed. David Jonsson as Andy is one of the coolest performances I’ve seen in a movie in such a long time and I can’t wait to see what he does next.
This movie was so successful BECAUSE of the Love they sent the fan's way. The second Alien movie, Aliens is my all-time favorite... Romulus is my now second favorite Alien movie. That includes the two AVP movies. Lol. I know what you two mean. It's an excellent movie. The music is fantastic, and the sequences were amazing. The Facehugger Chase is THE scariest chase sequence I've ever seen. I watched your Alien Isolation playthrough and I enjoyed it emmensely. I wonder if they could do an Alien Isolation movie or one-shot series...
You guys are my favourite reactor!! ❤ I agree with you all the way, alien romulus is AMAZING! I'm one of the people that glorified the first & 2nd alien movie, and not really is a fan of the other sequels. But I learn a lot from your reactions, and appreciate them more now. As for romulus, I was a bit skeptical at first, but was amazed (i watched it in theater!) Bc as you said, it's a love letter to alien fans and really respecting the original. Love it so much!
Saw it twice in theaters. The actor who played Andy blew me away, so talented. I really liked it mainly because the facehuggers always freaked me out more than the xeno. The final act kind of took it down for me. Didn't like the final "manomorph" design. Also I peeped the milk looking stuff on the table in the beginning so I knew one of them was an android.
This absolutely is that movie that needs a rewatch - especially in theatres! Absolutely agree with you on the Andy comment - the actor did an incredible job, what a talent!!
I think there is fair equal amount of people who LOVE the and dislike the Offspring design. I love it personally, and hope that there is intentional purpose of it looking like an Engineer mix.
Agreed. Watching Romulus at the theater I was blown away and said: "Finally!" Going back to the basics always works with a talented director & characters you care about. One of the early Alien novels explored the idea that Ash from Alien (1979) uploaded his AI brain to the escape ship prior to Ripley blowing up the Nostromo. So the company had all the information by the time she was picked up 57 years later. Of course, Romulus was 20 years after the events of Nostromo and the company would have known through the ship's communications by Dallas and Ash's access to Muthur.
This'll be the second time I ever watched this film, the only reason I clicked on this now because I watched this only once in the cinema. I'm glad you were able to create this!

There's a movie you might like to react to its called the 13th warrior
While the Offspring was certainly 👍🏻👍🏻, the zero-gravity scene (i.e., where Rain finally got the opportunity to *go to town* on the approaching Xenomorphs) was definitely a highlight for me, especially in terms of how the zero-gravity was used when Rain and Andy had to navigate through the Xenomorphs’ acidic blood.
On another note, that hat’s really cute on you, Denise!
The Offspring is not CGI, they got a very tall dude that they had put on practical makeup and costume. It's so great!!!
Holy cow, what?!? That is so fricken cool!! We gotta look more into that!!
Kind of reminds you of the original alien, they just got a really tall actor.

I got to see it twice in theaters and on my second watch some let out a loud “aw f**k that!” when the hybrid emerged. It was hilarious.
At the birth scene at the end, the whole theater I went to was like: "HELL NOOO"
It's the most ridiculous looking thing ever.
I guess the people who laugh or hate it is US people.
In my theater in Asia people are just terrified. the presence of that thing.
Nice!
It made $349 million dollars against an $80 million dollar budget.
It takes place 20 years after the events of the first ALIEN movie and 37 years before the events of ALIENS.
Man, $80 million?? They used each cent so well, this movie was absolutely fantastic!!
@@OfficialMediaKnights this movie needs to be a case study for how to properly use a smaller budget to make a smaller movie seem like a blockbuster.
80 million + advertising which was probably between 50-100mil? I assume because those ads were everywhere
because they focus on the source material ..to deliver what people come to see ...an alien horror movie
Fede has suggested in an interview that he and Dan Trachtenberg (director of Prey) should co-direct an AvP film. Fede handling the Alien side and Dan with the Predator side. Now it’s all I ever hope for.
Yes! Make it happen!
Oh absolutely,please make that happen.
I’d watch that in all honesty!
The offspring is pretty disturbing, but fun fact: the offspring is portraid by Robert Bobroczkyi, a romanian actor and basketball player with outstanding 7,7ft, most of his close shots are made in real life
The fact that Cailee Spaeny's only 5'1" nmade him even more terrifying.
The one time I got jump-scared was when he showed his face while Raine was dangling in space from that cargo ship. That was an excellent jump-scare.
Nice -I couldn't find anything about whether it was CGI or practical effects when I looked at IMDb. This movie is a practical over CGI triumph.
I’m not sure if someone else mentioned this yet, but the Isolation save stations are more clever than they appear on the surface. Just like in the game, they typically appear right when shit is about to hit the fan. Every time one appears, the next scene involves danger. I adore that they chose to do that lol
It's awesome but kinda is spoiler-ish for people who know about that, still cool
I don't understand. Could you please explain?

This movie was incredible on the big screen.
literally. saw it in imax and my jaw was just dropped for that entire sequence.
Along with Wallfisch’s fantastic score in the background!
"I thought it was very clever for the company to name their androids after chess pieces"
@thedarkknight2221 Oh Yeah!
David Jonsson, who played Andy, has to be the best android acting performance I have ever seen. He was incredible.
Cailee, Isabella, and David all did a fantastic job imo, despite a lot of people criticizing the whole "no name actor" thing when the trailer dropped.

It was certainly interesting take on the normal "synth man is company man"-routine.
Go watch ian holm in the original.

I really like Prometheus except for one or two blunders. (Why the hell did the permanently scared idiots suddenly touch the space cobra?!)
And I am sad, that Ridley Scott was not allowed to make the trilogy he had it mind because people hated the film for not being an Alien film, despite it being a solid sci fi spin-off story within the same universe, as intended.

Yes yes and yes!! The talent and understanding of horror is so evident in this film and we absolutely loved it!!

That baby was going to be a strange creature one way or another 😂
I saw it more like, Tyler and Kay are step siblings. She has an American accent and he has a British one. So Bjorn is Tyler’s blood cousin, but Kay’s step-cousin.

Finally, you guys really did it! I have been waiting for you guys to react to Romulus.
Yess, we did it!! Finally, it became available on Digital and we couldn't wait to share our reaction with y'all!
When i saw the emergency telephones show up in this movie, under my breath i was like, "save save save save save" 🤣
Alien Isolation 😆

Well you never know- he might have seen the sun, or atleast a glimpse of it as he was getting smeared all over the rings.
@@luvzanyandeverythingThat's right, but they were fairly far from LV-426 when the Queen showed up, they already were in the Sulaco
The Narcissus with Ripley in it still in cryo is in this film onboard Romulus station. You can see it at the end of the hall at 43:51 when Andy refuses to open the door for the pregnant girl. It’s also in the background at the end where you can see it being released from the station as its crashing into the rings.
It would have made more sense to use the Queen from Aliens for Romulus, rather than the Alien from Alien...

Yep, only people who don't like it are delusional nerds who didn't like that it went against their head canon.
You mash Alien + Aliens + Prometheus + Alien: Isolation + Dead Space = this movie.
That isn't saying much... considering the franchise has been crap for years.
Did you notice that it is actually the original Alien movie, Xeno too? the one hanging on the ceiling? You can see a close up shot with the harpoon Helen Ripley shooted at it to get rid of it still stuck in. The fact that it cocooned to survive in space is such a cool addition.

Just clarifying, the reason the xenomorph didn't straigh up Rain in the elevator scene (Or kay earlier on), at least in my head canon, is that they're using them to breed more xenos and they need people to be alive in order to get preggy
There was facehuger nearby so yeah the Xeno wanted her to be inpregnated.

I have a feeling we will but tbh Scott is very old now and has a lot of movies lined up to make... I hope he at least has a script to gift to his successor if he can't do it.
@@TheTrveMothlord I think Alvarez is that successor imo. Scott's been hit or miss these last few years.
The moment I saw it I said “what the fuck is that” I saw it looked like an engineer and that this is pretty much resurrection again but better.
My ranking of the alien franchise
1.Aliens
2.Alien
3.Alien Romulus
4.Alien covenant
5.Prometheus
6.Alien 3
7.Alien resurection
Edit .
YESSS IM SO GLAD YOU GUYS REACTED TO THIS!! ❤❤❤
Yayyy thank you so much for the support, we're so glad to have you here!! Hope you enjoy!
Your reactions always nake my day! The comments and the observations are so genuine and on point!
Thanks for the reaction and the film impressed me and also David Jonsson as the android, he played so vulnerable and later so cool... amazing 😇
My wife and I loved this movie. We are both huge fans of the franchise.
Comes out on disc in December can’t wait to get my copy.
I've been a fan of the Alien universe since I saw Aliens on vhs as a kid. *Finally* they made another good one!
Can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us! So much to be explored, we’re ready!
1:06:03 I was waiting for you to see this part, without a doubt the scariest thing we've had in the cinema in years, without the need for a screamer, just silence, this scene is terrifyingly perfect
We were immersed in the lore of the saga for years and yet this caught us all off guard.10/10
Bro I literally just got a break at school and the first thing I think of is "media knights...alien comes out today..." and then saw my notification
They were quick and were the first reactors to react to this
This is my second favorite of the whole franchise and I was so over the moon while watching it, I couldn't wait til I saw them on react channels and I just wanted to thank you both for loving it!! I felt so seen with the passion and excitement you both had, I was screaming along side yall 😆 so happy yall had a good time and caught all those isolation refs!
This is my third favorite but I don’t love it the same way as alien or aliens but I really liked Romulus
I loved this film in the theater. Definitely did not disappoint.

It's ok bro, we all understand that you had to say "birth" but in your mind you said "GIANT ALIEN VAGINA"
I’ve waited for this reaction vid for 2 months. I’m so glad you guys watched the movie. Absolutely loved it. 😊
I liked how they did all the other films first before reacting to this one
When the sound cuts and you hear her scream, perfection
I saw this movie at theater last month and I can tell you this movie was freaking awesome.
So good to be a geek and good sci-fi fantasy horror movies fan ;)
David Jonsson was so good as Andy! Loved this movie
fede alvaez and the people he had in his creative department being able to bring to life the creatures the visual effects the anticipation and scare factor throughout and especially towards the end was good damn good i wouldn't be surprised if they are able to do another alien franchise movie
Cailee Spaeny was phenomenal and gave us an iconic performance!
RIGHT?! Absolutely loved her in this, what an incredible performance!
I can't praise the acting enough in this movie honestly, all performances are absolutely amazing.
This movie better get some high-credit awards!
1:10:45 was the best! 🥳
You guys are my favourite reactor!! ❤
I agree with you all the way, alien romulus is AMAZING!
He did such a great job of mixing android coldness and seriou with human compassion and personality.
Dead on i forgot he was android a few times
I think there is fair equal amount of people who LOVE the and dislike the Offspring design.
I love it personally, and hope that there is intentional purpose of it looking like an Engineer mix.
I agree 100% the face huggers scare me slightly more
He's also great in the HBO tv series "Industry"
Fede Alvarez is such a great horror director. Evil dead, Dont breathe and now this movie. He's so good at make us care about the characters
The hybrid at the end is the most terrifying thing I’ve ever seen 🤣🤣
