I always thought Ripley’s decision to go back was because of her nightmares. William Manchester, famous historian, fought as a Marine in WWll. For some reason, decades after he got home, he started having the same awful nightmares he’d had in 1945, when he got home. He called them “The Darkness.” He had a bad heart and knew these nightmares would probably kill him if he couldn’t stop them. So he decided to go back to the Pacific, to the islands where he’d fought, in hopes that that would stop them. The book is called “Goodbye, Darkness” and I highly recommend it. One creepy scene where he dug a foxhole approximately where he had in 1942, and night creature noises woke him up. For a moment, he didn’t know if he was there as an old man, or still young, in the war, dreaming he’d survived to old age.
Not just the nightmares. She lost her daughter. She lost her job. She lost everything and everyone. All she has left is a crappy apartment and a crappy job. And the nightmares. She has nothing to live for. Nothing to lose.
"Aliens": Third Officer Ripley has been found and taken to Gateway station with a Xenomorph-size case of PTSD. What will The Wryland-Yutani Suits make of her blowing up the "Nostromo"? 3:08 You are watching the Special Edition version, which I bought as a Laserdisc(!) in 1990. The extra footage/scenes added depth and pathos to the theatrical version. 8:49 Jenette Goldstein is/was a body builder, so pull ups were no sweat for her. Fluent in Spanish, she went to "Aliens" casting as a Latina gang member. (The origin of the "illegal alien" joke?) Her prominent freckles drove the makeup staff bonkers. 12:02 Ripley shows Apone and Hicks that she isn't a front office paper shuffler like Burke, but a working class dog, like themselves. 13:38 An experienced soldier will catch 40 winks whenever possible, because war is 24 hour thing. 16:02 The Hamsters, like Jones the Cat, are too small to serve as hosts. 18:45 In 1986, I noticed that Ripley was able to "get close, quickly" to Rebecca unlike the female Colonial Marines. A reviewer of the time said: "Sisterhood!" When I got the SE Laserdisc, I confirmed that Ripley had been a parent. 21:34 Vasquez has spare fire control modules so the squad still has fire support. 31:19 "Over 100, one for each colonist." 33:10 The Manual of Arms. 40:25 They went out like Klingon warriors. 42:42 The right tool for the job with Duck tape. 44:37 The egg chamber. 45:18 Let's negotiate. 48:40 Queen takes Bishop. 49:50 The final battle. 51:35 Payoff. 52:12 On to the Assembly Cut of "Alien3" (1992).
The only thing they should never have put back in, is the introduction to Newt. That whole section reduces the suprise when they find her. There is a fan edit that takes it out.
41:50 NO They don't kill you they capture you, they only kill in self defence. Lets look: Dietrich: Captured Frost: gets hit by Dietrich's Flamer accidentally Wierzbowzky: gets shrapnel-led to death by the exploded ammo bag Apone: Captured Drake: Gets melted by acid from an Alien VASQUEZ killed Spunkmeyer: Unknown Ferro: Killed in self defence (she pulls her gun first) Hudson: Captured Burke: we would like him to be dead, but the truth is unknown (till the ENTIRE PLANET blows up) Vasquez and Gorman: Kill Themselves Bishop: would be dead if he was human, but he wasn't
It was revealed that Hudson did survive, but was cocooned and and died in the Colonial Marines game. You find him, and his pulse rifle. As for Burke, there's a delicious deleted scene of Ripley finding him cocooned and infected. She leaves him a grenade and walks off, and a few seconds later he detonates it offscreen. It happened right before cocooned Newt woke up, and I suspect the explosion was what woke her and started her struggles. I think they cut it for time, and so that the audience would enjoy using their imagination about how much he suffered.
"Why does this music sound like Predator?" - it doesn't really. But it sounds a LOT like the Klingon Theme of Star Trek III - The Search for Spock, by the same composer. :)
You will hear from idiots that you should not watch alien3, but you should. Keep in mind it has to be the special edition. It has more dialogs and makes more sense. Ripley is also in a completely different environment, and now she has to figure out how to get out of this shit.
There's no "special edition." It's called the assembly cut. And it's still toxic waste. Fincher wanted nothing to do with it, even 30 years later. So stop lying.

48:55 You saw the dropship scrape the platform. Obviously, the queen had a chance to jump on the landing gear compartment.
I’m glad you were watching the extended cut. It explains Ripley’s bonding with the little girl a lot more.

@@miller-joel Although there are better ways of ending it than going to a planet of killer aliens.
@@Wezwolf This time she was going on a warship with Marines, not a cargo ship with space truckers. To kill the aliens and get closure.
@@miller-joel Yes. But in the context of "Nothing to live for" there are less horrific options.

one important thing is, on youtube there is a scene where Riply finds Burke cocooned with the alien and she gives him a gun

She's not wasting it. Remember Bishop brung down a new ship and there is weapons on the ship. She is using a new supply
Aliens is my favourite movie

The queen alien can't be cut or her acid will melt a hole in the ship. Hence the airlock strategy.
"WORKING JOE'S" are the robots/synthetics in ALIEN ISOLATION, apart from "Samuels" being an ordinary synthetic.
