There should have been one scene in which they show. the Alien carefully holding onto a potential victim for the facehugger to attach to so audience members have that in the back of their head when Rain gets caught in the elevator.
Edit: they did this Aliens when the colonial marines got ambushed and some were taken alive. So it wasn't a surprise when Newt got taken alive. Whereas Romulus, everyone taken by alien thus far, was basically stabbed and mortally wounded.

One of my favorite bits is that Rook actually had some sense knocked into him. When he thinks his mission has failed and he has nothing to lose, he gives the group genuine advice on how to get out of their situation and when he says “perfect organism” he’s saying it sarcastically. And when Andy starts saying his Darwinist bullshit that probably came from his new WY programming, Rook tells him “it wreaked HAVOC” to emphasize its BS. Now he thinks the Xenomorphs are too much trouble on their own and would rather work with their goo from Prometheus-Covenant to be safer. Never thought I’d see character development from “Ash” but here we are.

The Xenomorph with the sparks is nicknamed ''Scorched'', it is in fact the one Bjorn zapped, you can see its head is a bit scarred and the electricity inside is actually the tip of the prod used to zap it in the coccoon, which got stuck inside its cranium since it was shoved in there while the alien was still evolving. It's probably why that one's extra pissed, it literally has a taser lodged inside its head going out at random intervals.

  • @theeLonelyRedPanda
    @theeLonelyRedPanda Месяц назад +57

    trivia time!
    - When Tyler, Bjorn, and Andy tour the reactivated Renaissance station, Wagner's "The Entry of the Gods into Valhalla" from "Das Rheingold" is heard over the introductory audio explaining the station being named after Romulus and Remus. This ties back to Alien: Covenant (2017), when Peter Weyland first activates David and asks him to play Wagner, choosing "The Entry of the Gods into Valhalla."
    - In the background of several shots, the emergency telephones that function as save stations from Alien: Isolation (2014) can be seen. Much like the game, they're typically a sign that something terrible is about to happen. Tyler also brings along a set of signal flares similar to the ones Amanda can find in Isolation, and even uses them to distract some facehuggers due to the heat of the flare like how Amanda can use them to distract the xenomorphs aboard Sevastopol.
    - In an interview on RUclips, Fede Alvarez described his idea on the significance of the biomechanical aspect of the Xenomorph coming from it's adaptability as it evolves during its gestation phase, absorbing parts and energy of the environment around where it cocoons itself in order to be able to excel within those surroundings, and in a used, dark industrial future, it would naturally lean towards a mechanical appearance to thrive within it. (also why it shows to have electricity runing thru it's skull bc bjorn tried to kill it before it was fully born, show casing you can indeed give it additional traits)
    - One notable design element in the film is the pulse rifle, which merges features from the original Alien (1979) flamethrower and the Aliens (1986) pulse rifle. This hybrid design reflects the film's intent to blend elements from both movies, creating something familiar yet new to reflect that this film takes place between those two movies. The auto-aim feature is not a completely new addition to Alien lore: in the Special edition of Aliens, Pvt. Hudson already mentioned an "independently targeting particle beam", and the Smart Guns carried by Vasquez and Drake use infrared-assisted targeting systems that can automatically detect enemies. It can be assumed that Rain's auto-aim pulse rifle is an early precursor to those weapons.
    - Aileen Wu, Fede Alvarez and film promos confirm that Navarro is Bjorn's adopted sister. According to the cast preview I'm Radio Times, "She was taken in by Bjorn's family on Jackson's Star and now thinks of Bjorn as a brother." This means the film features a trio of sibling pairs, which ties into the underlying myth of Romulus and Remus, and the two halves of the Renaissance station (named for the myth). Álvarez has said sibling relationships are a key theme in the film.
    - The Offspring was portrayed by the former Romanian college basketball player Robert Bobroczkyi. Speaking with Collider, Fede Álvarez explained that he didn't want to create a CG creature and had to find the right person for the role. After learning about Bobroczkyi, the director sent an email to the 7'7 basketball player asking him if he would like to be in an Alien movie, which Robert was very excited about. The Offspring was mostly done using make-up, with the exception of the creature's tail which was CG.
    - The chestburster scene was done practically.
    - the movie poster literally spoils who the first victim is lmao!

Also loved Rain and Andy, one of the best character combinations since Ripley/Newt or Ripley/Hicks.

According to the director he agreed that Rook still needed more work after the theater release so the final "home release" version does have some improvements apparently.
Given the damaged state of Rook though some "uncanny Valley" breaching is actually fitting, he's broken, there's no point in hiding it, he's just putting on a "good enough" performance to get his points across and maybe alarm the humans enough to pay attention

2 things that i love about this movie.
1, they made facehuggers absolutely terrifying. Every movie they're glazed over once someone is impregnated. Here it shows that facehuggers are the most formidable form of the xenoology. Forget movie plot armor, they're faster, and can jump really far to make up the distance, can find your body heat if you try to hide and are very strong, good luck pulling one off once its got your face.
2, Xeno's are capable of space travel. We already know that Xeno's existed before the engineers. So they didn't get from planet to planet by cargo hold. They litterally create a rocky shell and just get sent into space till they land on a planet.
Forget the aliens from Independence Day, the Xeno's are the true Locusts of the universe.
Im so glad they dont exist in real life. At least i hope not.😅

The shuttle is Ripley's from the first movie, suggesting Waylan-Yutani found Ripely a lot earlier than she was told in Aliens. Which means Burke lied to her about floating in space for 57 years, when the company had her for 30 of those years still possibly in cryo.

I've seen tons of people complain about this movie from a variety of standpoints, but honestly this is the best movie since Aliens by far and I'd put it right there along with it and Alien, it's fantastic. I'd actually love to see more of Rain/Andy in the future, especially as the new Ripley going forward, and while yes she'll never be Sigourney Weaver, she did damn well in her own right and handled her own just as well, gave me a very Ripley feel from her, or hell even Samus (but far less overpowered) and as well all know with Metroid, it's heavily inspired by Alien as well.
It's a great film and people I feel expect too much or some varied performances. My only real complaint is the Hybrid, it comes off as a bit of an oddity, but terrifyingly horrid in its own right, while still keeping Prometheus and Covenant and such relevant despite them never being truly finished because of public outcry against personal theories and just a variety of issues with those films which were pretty average/mid at best.
Very glad to see the Blind Wave crew actually love the film and not ceaselessly just finding fault in every aspect and enjoying it for what it is, a corporate dystopian nightmare where a crew gets done in my a horrid machine of death. I'm really hoping the series continues forward despite it not having the entire best reception and box office for what should have been expected.

Even David fit, being the next new one, even though that one only makes sense in a meta-sense not in the lore. Walter broke that naming convention and Rook doesn't fit it either.
Andy would fit lore-wise as he would be from around the same time as Ash and would therefore get a name, starting with an A in-universe.
Anyway, Rook is not the same Synthetic as Ash in Alien. He's just the same model, at least visually.

Ash and Rook both specialize as Science Officers, it seems likely that they are both the same models, Rook might still be in use as his model was good at it's job, likely moreso when not needing to pretend to be human or empathetic, and perhapse seen by the company as fairly reliable given he was still in use around a decade or more after Ash.

The Drone "wakes-up" gets the encased Xeno and take it to the Romulus-Remus research station. It is cut out of the "cocoon" and taken away. So we could legitimately see some more robust "oldschool" tech return in various forms specially designed to be brutally robust rather than slim and pretty, they would still preform far better than the oldschool tech thanks to some hardware and software improvements they could still benefit from, heck, even today super high capacity tape-drives still exist for archival storage when capacity and longevity matters far more than access speed, which, again would be good in a long-term spacecraft or device.
And... yeah, Cassette futurism is just cool too, not gunna lie, I love the look too, as much as the potential practicality of it

@@UNSCPILOT hehe reminds me of stargate where quiet often weaker human technology would win because the enemies were not used to non energy attacks and such hehe.
