They filmed the opening scene with the two girls and Annabelle in my neighbors apartment, in downtown Wilmington, NC. It’s a really cool old apartment building that’s 120 years old, and used to be a luxury hotel when first built. They have filmed so many movies and shows here for decades. It’s always got camera crews filming in and around it, being a film nerd it’s a super dope place to live, and it’s right in the heart of the historic district downtown, surrounded by antebellum mansions, moss covered trees, and cobblestone streets. The building is beautiful, but creepy too. It’s supposed to be haunted for real, there’s several ghost stories about the building in real life! It’s called the Carolina Building apartments. Thought you guys would appreciate the cool fact, love your reactions, as always!

You guys are genuine lovers of film and catch so many details no other reaction channel even notices. Lorraine Warren was actually a consultant on the the Conjuring films all the way up until she passed in 2019. She was pleased with this one. The actors playing Ed and Lorraine actually borrowed some things from the actual Warren house to decorate the set - paintings that Ed and Lorraine had done.

James Wan did such a masterful job directing this movie. I remember seeing it back in 2013 in a packed theater and the reactions to the scares were unforgettable. The sequel, The Conjuring 2 (2016), also directed by Wan is great too and features an even scarier entity/villain, THE NUN. You should also check that out.

James Wan is excellent about making 1 or 2 movies in a franchise. Anything past that is not good cinema at all. He hands them off to other directors and lets the studios do with them what they please like a shill. Annabelle 1-2 are good. The conjuring 1 is a classic and 2 is mid. Insidious 1 is a classic. Malignant is an underrated masterpiece. Saw 1 is a classic and 2 is good too. Everything else in his long running series’s are garbage.

Might have been something there. I used to see "uglies" as a child and they'd also disappear with the light. Went to a child psychologist who said there was nothing wrong with me. 20 years later we found out there had been a fight between French and German soldiers during WW1, just a couple hundred meters away. 500 dead. I had been seeing the soldiers we call "gueules cassées", or "broken faces". Basically those who were disfigured in the fight. That's why I found them ugly/scary. Dad did some digging in the backyard and found coins and vest buttons that belonged to French soldiers. So yeah, might have been something under your bed, too.

I'm really happy you guys are starting on this journey! 100% is my fav horror movie series.
    Story time:
I first watched this movie when I was in my teens with a bunch of friends at one of my friends' houses, and we all decided to play hide and clap right after the movie. It was my turn with the blind fold and I was in the kitchen and I asked for the second clap, I heard a clap coming from behind me as I was walking out the kitchen, so I turn around and try find the person but I didn't find anyone, I immediately took off my blind fold and turned on the light, my friends all came out from their hiding spots telling me I lost, one of my friends said she also heard a clap in the kitchen as well.
Later that night, just before we went to bed, there were 3 of us in the kitchen getting a glass of water, on the counter was an empty glass and a friend and I were facing in the direction of the glass and I swear on my life, that glass moved across the counter, towards the edge and stopped. My friend and I freaked out, but the 3rd friend said no, we were making it up.
It wasn't the last time I slept over by that friends house, but things just kept on happening after watching that movie. They eventually moved out of the house because the mom couldn't take what was going on anymore. So I fully believe in the stepping on gum effect.

You guys know your stuff and teach me so much about cinematography and movies with every video. When Denise mentioned she watched this and Ari didnt watch it for a long time, it just makes it more genuine. When you're honest as a reaction channel, it just makes it a thousand times better. You really feel the passion you two have about movies. And just in my case it’s wonderful to see people getting invested in how a movie is made instead of simply reacting with „wow, this looks cool!“ and stuff.
I really like it because I’m really invested into movies I like too and watch some documentaries about those movies and how they are made like the series on Netflix „the movies that made us“

Here the camera shot from the inside of the house keeps tracking them through the windows, with a handheld shaky frame and all, which makes it feel like something is watching them move in from inside.

Whether or not if you chose to belive them is up to you but they are very interesting.

@OfficialMediaKnights Several things. First, the ending, mentioning Long Island, is referring to the next "true story," the original "Amityville Horror." Second, this movie is based on a "non-fiction" book I bought used as a teen in the early 1980s, not having seen the Amityville movie. Third, presenting things like this as part of reality, and not pretending it isn't, caused me psychological harm. Kids watching things like vampires and what-not is fine, to a point, because we realise they can't be real. This stuff? When I was bullied mercilessly, I thought I could conjure something to hurt those hurting me, and tried to. Obviously, this not being real, nothing happened, but believing it could, some people go as far as doing animal sacrifices and other such crap. Not me, but this factored into my later religious searches, beliefs, and disbeliefs. Eventually, I became a Wiccan Elder Priest, with BAs in Psychology and Religious Studies, minors in Anth and Bio. I wanted to understand why people believe in things that do not exist, why prayers and magick do not work. That said, I could have done without the trauma of believing in demons. Oh, the book's name is, "The Demonologist," written by the Warrens. It's sitting in the Horror section of my books, among the other fantasies about demons and their devil. near the Omen trilogy, and vampire lore. My non-fiction is across the room.
BTW, while the cinematography and acting in these movies featuring the Warrens is generally good, I can't get past not liking them for presenting it as reality. BTW, I am 56 now. I'll stick to good old Anne Rice books if I need to delve.

This movie is really good. I loved the tone, the camera choices, the cast did really weel and I also love how subtle in their choice, the horror and the suspense is in the little things. They don't over use jumpscares, they build the story over the small the details and just pump it up once needed.
If you like horror movies that create tension and knows how to build their momentum with great cinematography, I cannot suggest it enough for you to see The VVitch (the one with Anya Taylor Joy) from Robert Eggers. It is a masterpiece of tension. Not sure if you have watched it already but I think you will enjoy it.
