30-years ago, my daughter and I made a patchwork quilt. Her job was to decide what patch went where. She thought it would be fun to dump them in a bag and pull one at a time. We still have (love and use) the quilt.
Oh that is wonderful thank you for sharing! What a fun way to make a quilt!
Sounds like a lot of fun xxxx
I have two charm packs that I am going to try this with. Wish me luck
Reach out if you have any questions! I think you will be just fine though!
Hi from South Australia x I have a “baby girl” print charm pack and will make this for my next door neighbours new baby thank you
What a great way to make a simple patch quilt to a more interesting and fun look. Love it, definitely going to use your idea. Awesome!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you found the idea helpful.
Really love this pattern ❤ Thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome 😊
Love the look of this scrappy quilt! You make it look so easy. It's great too that you don't have to go looking for a pattern, just make your own!
Thank you! I agree! Sometimes it is just so fun to sit and sew and not have to be really concerned about all the cuts and measurements! This keeps it really simple.
One of my very favorite channels! I know y’all are so busy but miss your Saturday’s talks with hubby❤
We will be back soon but have to shift from Saturday’s since soccer season is back!
We miss them, too. Between soccer and everything else going on, we are in the process of coming up with a set day/time for a weekly live. I expect we will start back with the lives in about two weeks.
I love this idea. Maybe I’d do both, a smaller one and a bigger one using squares around the outside.
She really is good, I also would be interested in the numbers. Love watching her at work.
Thanks for the pattern! I will definitely use some of my charm packs to make this!
Oh my goodness, Fallon! This is adorable! It looks so much fun to make, too! GREAT tutorial! Love this so much! It actually has a border built in. So cool!
Thank you Kris! I wasn’t sure if the border would work like I thought! I hate when I think it will work then it doesn’t! This time it did! Yay!
It’s never a mistake… 🤣 It’s a design choice!!! ❤🧵🪡✂️💕
Yes!!!!
Love that ruler with the yellow green plastic, it looks so much easier to use. Cute quilt, gonna try this.😊 Love that you made it your own, awesome!
Thank you!
Love this idea! I have a huge amount of 5 inch squares from monthly guild exchanges for years.
I really like this pattern and I will probably give it a try! thanks!
Super cute Miss Fallon. That came out adorable.
Thank you! 😊. It is one of my husbands favorite designs too! Now I need to make a larger quilt with this idea so he can use it!
Absolutely! When she showed me this top the first time, I immediately called dibs. It is such a cool look!
@@FirstHusbandofQuilting there are some benefits to being The First Husband. 😂😂
I really like the simplicity of this design. I would make it in a throw size!
I think I am going to make another one at a throw size too! Maybe in fall colors… or Christmas!
Very nice. Well done 🎉
Brilliant
Yay can’t wait for markers
They took a few attempts to make, but once we finally figured out the right sizing, they turned out great!
Very cute quilt. My next scrappy quilt will be using this design. Thanks
Your welcome! I would love to see a photo of your quilt when you make it!
That is really, really cute. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for your kind words, it means a lot to me!
This pattern is so versatile!! Great for scrap busting too. Thanks Fallon!! ❤
You are so welcome! It was so fun to sew too! ❤
😮😮😮 Oh Fallon. ♥️These markers are genius!!! I was gating using my post-it because they don’t stick well snd coming off. But these markers 😱 now you know I’m going to be getting me these. Be great to use on PMQ as well!! ♥️♥️♥️
My husband asked what notion I might like and I immediately said “alphabities but with a hole so I can actually pin them in place”
I will admit… he came up with the ring idea. He gets credit for that one!
@@sewbeitquilts please tell him!!! My hats off to him!!! Just placed my order!!!! Would of been perfect for that log cabin block sew along we did. Maybe next time!!!
That is great. You end up with a nicely framed quilt.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
I sketched the idea out on graph paper and I kept questioning if it would actually work when I turned the ends. I finally just went for it and am so happy I did!
I really enjoy your videos Fallon. Keep up the good work, I’m learning a lot.
Thanks!
I don’t quilt (found this looking for charm sewing patterns reviews), but this is really fascinating. You explain everything really well.
Thank you!
Very good. I probably will use white as the border. Your green looks great, as well.
Love this! It would make a great baby quilt.
Yes it would! There are so many cute charm packs available too!
Great idea for scraps too!😄
Yes! I think I might try to pull some fall fabrics and make one a little larger!
Nice variation of a simple layout! Thanks, Fallon!
I am so glad you enjoyed see how my variation on this simple layout turned out!
I saw something similar by Fat Quarter Shop but yours is so much more interesting. I love that you add the strips and cut a second time. You are so creative. I'm planning on making this, I really love your ideas Fallon. I dont have much time to see and make a lot of things these days. I'm still working full time and care for my disabled husband. But that's ok, hoping to cut back on some hours at work. Fingers crossed.
Thank you Maureen! I hope you are able to cut some hours. I am sure you are tired but I am also sure your husband appreciates all you do. ❤️
Love this. I started one yesterday with scrappy 5 inch squares and white but did not have enough so decided to use navy for the middle of the nine patch and I love it. Just need to sew the rows. Very fast quilt.
Oh that sounds like it will be beautiful!
You have such creative ideas! The quilt top is so PRETTY! 🥰❤️
Thank you! 😊. Let me know if you make this pattern!
Really clever idea…I will use this!
I would love to see a photo when you do!
Those strips make a huge difference! From plain to interesting.
I think so too!
How cute
I love this and plan to make one for a baby that is due in August 2024
This is so cute! Love it!
Thank you! 😊
Wow, what a great idea. Love the simplicity....but finished quilt doesn't look simple or plain. Will definitely make this.
I always buy charm packs and never know how to complete them. Thank you so much for the ideas!!
You are so welcome!
Great pointers
Awesome idea!!! ❤
Oh I like this idea!❤!
Absolutely love your quilt! I would never have thought to cut it and add strips!!
Thank you!
Gréât tutorial. I keep my ALPHABITTIES in the pouch they came in. I keep them in a plastic container labeled in a drawer!!!! 😂❤
Thank you! I probably would have used my alphabities more if I took the time to organize them.
This is a great idea! Cute, clever and easy! Definitely going to give it a try.
Thank you Janet! It was such a fun quilt to make!
I’m going to make this quilt so cool thanks I am new to your channel and have enjoyed it so much
Thank you! I am so glad to hear you are enjoying my videos!
Have my first charm pack. The pinked edge question was first. Thanks for talking about pinked edges. There wasn’t extra fabric for trimming to size. Many good tips for my first charm project.
Fallon, those acrylic tiles are genius! You may be giving Alpha-bitties a run for their money!!!
I hope so! Lol
Darling quilt. Excellent use of sewing smart and using that to get a look as opposed to individually deliberately sewing small pieces block by block. You’re excellent at instructing and giving tips.
Thank you so much!
That's adorable Fallon, looks much more complex than it was. My kind of quilt!
Deceptively complex is my kind of quilt pattern too!
P. S. I sew the valleys- not peaks it my preference as i feel the valleys will catch all the fabrics , where peaks would be a hit and miss!!! 😊
I completely agree!
Just what i needed... would love to see you try my daydream of cutting a layer cake into strips and making a "Jelly Roll Race" quilt!
Oh! I did a fat quarter version!
ruclips.net/video/KlePidQYb8c/видео.htmlsi=0kTXmXsOuoPkIrld
I will see what I can think of for a layer cake version!
Such a clever way to add a beautiful accent. Possibilities are endless. Even a dark fabric with a pattern design in it would be a great accent as well. Oh Fallon! Such fun ways to bright up those fun charm packs!
Thanks for demonstrating a new fun way to jazz up small or large charm pack squares. I dop plan on making one as well.
from Gerry- This is really cute. Thanks and be blessed.
Thank you Gerry!
WOW!!! Awesome project and it really looks doable. This would make a lovely baby quilt with just the one charm pack. Thanks for sharing.
I love this charm pack tutorial! I will be using it to make baby quilts for a local hospital for use in their Preemie Baby unit.
I enjoy seeing where you make the cut on these quilt tops. Very interesting looks when done. Thank you, Fallon.
Glad you like it!
It's really cute and so simple. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you Linda!
What a GREAT way to use a charm pack. This is wonderful. Thank you, SEW much for sharing. You are a very good instructor!
Thank you for the kind comment!
I love the row markers your husband made! Maybe you should market them? Oh wow! I just found them in your store! I can’t wait to order them!
They are for sale in our shop here: sew-be-it-quilts.myshopify.com/products/acrylic-quilt-fabric-labels. Aside from that, we aren't great at marketing.
I feel your marker pain. These new acrylic markers are so cool. Taking a picture of the layout is SUCH a good idea.
Thank you Holly!
I don’t know why I can sit and piece a quilt for hours but don’t want to find a letter in a ziplock bag! It’s one of those mysteries of the universe I guess! Lol
You’re really the queen of making a simple quilt with precuts we all have and ending up with something fabulous!! Definitely will make one or more of these
Oh Kathleen! Thank you so much for the kind comment! I really appreciate it!
Kathleen, does this mean I am the... King? 😂 If so, I fully support this comment.
@@FirstHusbandofQuilting I’ll give you Prince Consort. 😀 We all know where the power lies.
I would be interested in your number/alphabet ring when they come available. Thanks for the video! ❤
We have a few posted on our website! ❤
Thank you for this great tutorial! It restored my sewjo and I raided my stash to whip up 2 tops for Project Linus quilts. They turned out so cute. It will definitely be a go-to for quick and easy quilts 😀
Nice.❤
Thanks!
I made this for a table topper and it’s so cute! Very easy instructions. Thank you for sharing your tutorial! 😊
You are so welcome!
Thanks for this idea, great way to jazz the layout up
Thank you for the creative way you worked this quilt. I'm anxious to make one for myself..
You can do it!
Love this quilt great way to use a charm pack. I have never thought about the peaked and troughs. 😄
This looks like fun quilt for my granddaughter
It is a fun quick sew!
Very nice and easy to. Thanks
Last minute gift.
Thank you Pam! Yes definitely the perfect last minute gift!
Love this! Ty 😂
Awesome
Thank you!
Hello another great video, I have 3 charm packs all matching fabrics. That would work out great for this quilt. 2 packs for the quilt, and 1 for a boarder Thanks for the video.
A pack for an extra border would look beautiful!
Oh my wow! I love this. Thank you for sharing.
Enjoyed this quilt. Great to follow. 👍😊
Hi Fallon, I am going to work on one soon after this video. I so excited about and I never would have thought to do this method. Thank you for thinking it up❣️❣️❣️ I am hoping you have a wonderful week. 👍🥰👍 Chris
Hi Fallon, I found 2 5 inch packs of the same, while cleaning a room, which I totally forgot that I jad them. I am definitely going to make a bigger one. I just love how you explained everything on this video. I'm glad I came your video.
How did your quilt turn out?
@@sewbeitquilts I'm still working on it.
Beautiful quilt. Very versatile .
Would love to make this after Christmas. What a great idea and a good way to start working with precuts without the stress and a plain charm pack sewn together. Gives it great interest! Thank you for sharing for us newbies 😂. Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you! It is so fun to make!
A very cute quilt. Thank you for sharing.
This is a great pattern. Thanks so much😊
I love this video. I also love charm packs and always wondering how to make something different and you have an excellent idea with this beautiful quilt. Thank you so much. ❤❤
Love this pattern! Thank you for the tutorial! We are making charity quilts for kids for our Quilt Guild and this is an easy design.
This would be the perfect design for kids quilts! If you make one I would love to hear what you think!
After fabric selection from 7" stash of random charm colors, i made this in 90 minutes. Your instructions are exceptionally clear. I used light blue for the first border and plan to put an outer darker blue border with random 3" pinwheels every once in a while. Thank you so much!!
Oh the pinwheels will be such a fun add on! I would love to see some photos when you finish the border.
Simple and elegant. Can’t ask for anything more! Thanks for this… ❤️
Thank you! 😊
I love this pattern! I'm going to make it just the way you did but add a nice big 6" boarder to make it a bit bigger. Thanks for the great pattern!❤
Thank you! I think a 6” border will frame this quilt beautifully!
Definitely going to follow your tutorial and make a quilt with my Charm pack I’ve been struggling to find just the right pattern and this is it. Thank you so much for taking the time to shoot this tutorial and sharing your idea. The Charm Pack I’m using is called “A Country Weekend” by Lisa Audit
I love this! I have so many charm packs that I am not sure what to do with. I am definitely going to make this pattern!
I hope you share some photos of what you make!
I bought a bunch of charm packs on sale and this is the perfect pattern for some baby quilts or lap quilts. Thank you. I really like this idea.
This looks very nice :) I've got 3 charm packs that I think I'll do this with using a nice rich black for the strips. Thank you for the great idea, and the tutorial :)
Oh I bet the black strips will really make your quilt pop!
I love your pattern! Just the perfect size for a baby quilt!
I think so too!
Cool idea that looks fabulous!😊❤
Thank you! 😊
Talented husband!
It’s beautiful it looks like a window.
Oh it does! I didn’t notice that until you mentioned it!
Love these ideas, Fallon. Thanks so much. ❤️🇦🇺
You’re welcome! It was a fun quilt to design and sew!
