Lyrics:
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we're born
Into this world we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor on a loan
Riders on the storm
There's a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin' like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If ya give this man a ride
Sweet family will die
Killer on the road, yeah
Girl ya gotta love your man
Girl ya gotta love your man
Take him by the hand
Make him understand
The world on you depends
Our lives will never end
Gotta love your man, yeah
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we're born
Into this world we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor on a loan
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm

This is one of the most haunting, atmospheric and beautiful songs ever written. Believe this or not I first heard this on a jukebox in a pub whilst a thunderstorm was raging outside.
True
@Ardeth Bey Where did you obtain this information? The song was definitely written by the doors and performed first by them, although there have been a few cover versions since.
@Ardeth Bey Don't worry. It happens to us all from time to time 🙂
Totally awesome.... must bring back great memories for you.👍
@Ardeth Bey takes humble a man to say that 😁
One of the best moments of my gigging keyboardist life is when I was playing a cover of this song with my band at a local restaurant, and by sheer chance it started raining just before we got to this song, and right as I was playing the keyboard intro, a loud thunderclap happened outside, almost exactly like the record. It was just too perfect a moment that I will never forget.
were dragons in this story?
I hope you didn't pick up any hitch hikers on the way home after

Jim Morrison was one of those special people who only came into this plane of existence once every 500 years or so. As a teen, I was completely mesmerized by his music and lyrics. Be sure to read the books about him; but especially, listen to his music. No need to over-intellectualize it. Just listen. RIP Jim.

I still remember hearing this for the first time ever during my first week at university in a friend”s dorm room. I couldn’t believe how spooky, how evocative and how sweetly sinister it was. Many I night I sat on the floor as a teenager in the late sixties with headphones on listening to this incredible group. First time in France I made a visit to Jim's gravesite. What a shame but their music is timeless.
Listened to this sitting on a hotel balcony in Virginia Beach one night during a huge thunderstorm, overlooking the ocean. Military ship lights blinking out in the darkness on the horizon, lightning flashing off in the night, rain and wind swaying the trees on the empty beach, lights from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge blinking in the dark of the storm...so beautiful and dreamy, wish I could revisit that night.

it’s early, really early. Like 3 or 4 am. We’re on the highway, cruising. You’re in the passenger seat. It’s the start of a long ride with a good destination. You’re still tired and half asleep. With your eyes half open, you gaze outside. Lights have become little blurry dots, just as well as the cars that ride past you. Inbetween the beautiful night sky you can see and even feel the streetlights flashing by. Each time you pass one, a glow of warm orange light hits your face. The radio is on but you’re not paying attention to it. You just hear the talking, comforting voices in the background. This, together with the soft and constant zooming of the engine forms an almost hypnotic mix that put your mind to perfect ease. It’s a beautiful summer night. The sky is is clear and the stars shine bright. Thousand of tiny white lights on a, enlightened by the moon, soft coloured black background. It’s not cold, you can even roll down your window a little bit. Just enough to feel the cool air blazing through your hair. Next to you is a cup of fresh hot coffee, which together with the scent of the night makes a perfect mix. Your head’s on a little pillow against the window. It’s so, so quiet. There’s a perfect balance of light, scent, sound, temperature, movement. Not a single worry, not even a single thought that goes through your mind right now. You’re so relaxed.
You gently close your eyes and let go of everything. And when you wake up, you’ve arrived
Then some guy bangs on your window and says "Hey you can't sleep here"

We are still here listening to you, great Mr Mojo! We will never forget you! ❤️
amen
That pure voice of Jim Morrision and that piano, classic and timeless...
I can't express how good this is. Ray Manzarek was a very nasty man on the keyboards.
Bro! Dude was a freaking Demigod
I 've read he was also a nasty man in real life..lol
Listen to Dominoes by Syd Barrett which came out the previous year and I think you'll see where this keyboard solo was born.
Goosebumps every time, no exceptions. Masterclass!
Hi i recommend a song here on youtube called 'Where I Come From' By Robert Nix
In italian language : UAOO PELLE D OCA !! FOREVER! VI AMOOOO THE DOORS
"There's a killer on the road. His brain is squirming like a toad." Probably the most chilling song lyrics I've ever heard and Jim sells it like he has a first row seat inside the killer's brain.
There’s always a killer on the road.. think about it
This lyric and the lyrics in This is the End...creepy and at a time in America when MANSON was scheming his twisted plans...Zodiac Killer on the loose and the whole world crumbling over Vietnam involvement...Definitely a poet for the moment..Utter brilliance.
@@junobandz6091 Yes, but "Let your children play." Jim says to chill because there's nothing you can do about it.
Maybe it was him.
Jim, although he was a genuine badass, respected human life. The only trouble was he could not save his own life. Never ending mental torment, which drugs and alcohol were used to help ease the pain of. A doomed life from the beginning???
I'm 73 now and have the feeling that there's more behind me than there is ahead of me but me-----I'll sure spend it listening to my share of the Doors.
Stay safe
I’ll never get tired of that song.
I could live in that bass line for the rest of my life and be just fine.
Ope, was on acid when I wrote this.. doesn't make it any less true though.

Salve o rock! Anos passam e essa música é fixada na minha memória. 🤟
Concordo...Um saludo de Italia....Amo Brasil....Ate' mais...Ciao
Jim would never have imagined a world where his songs videos would be watched by millions forever.
Sat in a psychiatry at the foot of the alps. The thunder's rolling in and its pouring. Selected the track and know, i'm just one of many riding their own storm ! Love to all ! And remember, some time soon the storm will have blown over and be a distant memory. Chin up !

He would have want to crawl into a hole. He was obsessed with the killer on the road.
My favorite song from The Doors. Still sounds amazing after 50 YEARS. Just awesome.
Magnificent, brilliant, Along with the great and missed voice, just listen to that piano and the orchestration. This is real music. It truly IS a classic!
all together it makes it a masterpiece
38 miles from the Gulf Coast here in S TX, we have played this and "When the Levee Breaks" every time a hurricane comes since the 70s. Cueing up again.
This song is so beautiful. 10/10 great. The instrumentation and the lyrics just hit the nail on the head.
How many listeners notice that underneath Jim's vocal is another vocal track of him whispering the lyrics? This grabbed me one evening about 40 years ago when I was listening to the Doors. I believe this was Jim's idea and it surely adds a creepy effect to the song.
The devil is singing with Jim and it sounds AMAZING
This whisper track is supposedly also the last thing Jim ever recorded with The Doors
L'ho notata anch'io.
@@hugodelacroix3076 ever recorded period. The last layer of the last track he ever made
Coming home from work late one night in 1989 I caught a radio interview of Robbie Kreiger. He said that "Riders on the Storm" was the last song the band ever recorded together.
That's pretty crazy...
Wow thats mad . Thanks that 😃😄
Sorry . Thanks 4 that 😂

Honestly Jim Morrison is one of the best lead singers ever. Combined with Ray Manzarek's talent...the Doors are pure genius.
Hi I invite you to the religion of Islam. Read about Islam. It is the truth. You will thank me in the future if you convert to Islam 🤍🤍
I Had a moment with this song one day .. I got a call from my wife who was at the childrens Express with my 6 month old son. She said they were taking him by ambulance to the emergency room becuase he couldn't breathe properly and his oxygen levels were low. I immediately got in my truck and flew to childrens hospital in Pittsburgh. I made my way down Allegheny river Blvd. And into town. And got stopped at a red light. I was in panic and I knew that at any moment my son could breathe his last breath. I looked up at the street lights and noticed the lights were flickering. Then this song came on... and it started to drizzle. I just cranked it and went as fast as I could.. the whole way to the hospital every couple of street lights were flickering. Idk what it was either a sign from God or just a coincidence. Those 6-7 minutes of my life could have changed everything. I got to the hospital and they got my son's oxygen levels back to 90%. It was such a weird moment and I just look at this song differently now.
That was, i can't even describe it
Damn..... I just heard this song from a prank video

Now in 2024 listening to this song 32+ years sober. It triggers flash backs. Personally I love the fact that snoop dog. Did a version of this song in honor of Jim.
