The Doors channel is the official RUclips home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.
With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.
The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.

Don't want to take away credit from Jim Morrison, he was a genius of his time, but the Doors just wouldn't be the Doors without Manzarek's masterful key playing. His playing makes this and the rest of their music instantly recognizable.

That must have been a magical feeling! I met John Densmore in the mid 90s when he played a solo drum show at my college campus, University of South Dakota of all places! I wrote for the college newspaper at the time and was invited to the after-show mixer where only about 20 people were there. I walked right up to John, shook his hand and proceeded to tell him about a play I was writing in my creative writing class inspired by the Doors music. John smiled and then said, "If you make it to Broadway, call me up!" Still to this day I am amazed at my luck that day meeting him. Years later I was also able to see the Doors play in concert with Ian Astbury, which was phenomenal. The Doors played for about 2 1/2 hours and the band let people get up on the stage and dance. Very fun memorable experience.

It is strange to be a loner who is also an acid fiend, drunk and narcissist who threw it all away for more booze, more acid and just had to cheat and cheat until he finally needed Pamela but it was too late and now all the loner does is blame the heroin she was shooting up and giving him too while over in Paris.
Yes, it's a strange thing being a loner from Florida with a naval dad who never understood you so you move to sunny LA and do more acid while discovering film at UCLA and meeting your greatest friend who just happened to be this great, nerdy musician named Ray who carried you and your reputation even after you checked out.
Because you were a loner. And it was strange. So strange...
