I run mine on ISO 32, you can use 46 or 68 as well but the higher number means thicker. Being as you are a fellow Canuck I'd stick with the 32 for our colder winters.
I bought this a while ago and finally setting it up. My little dump trailer has two hoses from the cylinder - do I just cap one off? Because it's single action pump. I definitely don't need push pull but what to I do with the other line.
should be ok for a dump trailer since the weight of the dump bed will push it back down. Probably a good idea to put a screen type cover over that open end so bugs and moisture dont get in there when its not in use.

there is no return on this unit its a "Single Acting" power unit. the weight of the lifted object forces the fluid back through to the tank. If you want push & pull you need a "Double acting" unit. Here's a link to the counterpart to mine www.princessauto.com/en/12v-dc-double-acting-lifting-hydraulic-power-unit/product/PA0008582769 Hope that helps.
I could never find it either, not in the manual or the Hydro-tec site. With a fully charged battery I was able to dump it 12 times before I noticed it slowing down, even then it went for another 6 dumps before it needed recharging. If I needed to make more dumps than that I'd just run a cable from the truck to the trailer and charge it as I drive.
What is the stroke on your cylinder? and how long is the dump box? The reason why i ask is I have a 90'' stroke telescopic cylinder and princess auto told me that the motor would burn out because of the duty cycle, the cylinder holds about 14 quarts of fluid and for the time it takes for the cylinder to fill i guess that the motor will heat up. Does anyone have any advise on this before i buy one thanks!!
Mines a 72" stroke, Box is 10' long. I've done hundreds of dumps in the last 2 years with it and it works as good today as it did the day I built it. Never overheated it even doing upwards of 30 dumps in a day. I suppose worst case scenario, say dumping a load of wet clay it might struggle for your application but who expects a dump trailer to take that kind of abuse for long.
Thank you for using our power pack.
Its a great unit, works perfectly.
dumb question but what exact hydraulic oil does in run on , im using mine in cold quebec winter conditions...

I just did exactly the same set up on my F550 2016 is kind of slow. I which I can find a pump with port for 1/2 inch hose like the telescope cylinder
Ya its a tad slow, but still a heck of a lot faster than using a shovel. ;)
Very nice, I bought this pump a while back to use with a dump flatbed on my ranger. Where did you find that cylinder?

Nice stuff. But how much current does it draw? Couldn't find it on the site Princess Auto.

@@SchnebsGarage Found it! Specs are: "Motor Start Solenoid 12V DC 150A", "Motor 12V DC 1.6KW". That makes 133 Amps.
@@robertvandegrijp9253 You Sir are the master of the interweb !! ;)
What type of hydraulic oil do you use? Technical name? Thank you
I'm using AW32 in it. Can use AW48 or AW64 if using in warmer climates.
