After watching a dozen or so other videos, I’m glad I stayed on my search for the right video. Thank you for this demonstration and explanation. It was the most relevant to what I’m dealing with today.
Great video! Thanks.. I just had my fluid overflow after the third short trip for gravel and this video perfectly explained why. I started to worry for a minute.
Very good info that all dump trailer owners need to know. Best fix i’ve found is to install a 2nd battery. This has served us all day. Also, at the end of the day we connect batteries to a real battery charger - not the 12V plug that comes with most new trailers. If you really want to ensure that your battery won’t let you down, go with a lithium phosphate (LiPo) battery, just be prepared for sticker shock. The bright side is that a LiPo battery will save you $ in the long run. A good LiPo battery will last you 7 years. The deep cycle battery that came with/ your trailer might last 2 years. Same thing goes for the battery(-ies) that came w/ your RV. Ask me how I know.
Glad I came upon this video. I've had this problem now for awhile on my dump trailer. Never would have concluded it was from a weak power source. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us.
Wow! Exactly my ATF reservoir, and overflowing out the cap is my problem! Thanks so much! I just went and put my dump trailer on the charger. Issue:::: I see your hoist has only up and down power buttons. Mine has buttons for Up and Down with Power on, and a third button, Down w/no power on. Question:::: If I operate the down w/ no power button wouldn't that cause my cylinders to get air in them too, and cause my overflow? Just as if the battery were low/dead? Thanks for the video!! ps...You have earned my loyalty as a customer for anything related to these trailers in the future, thanks again.
No, but there is a 12V charge circuit from the tow vehicle, and that has to be properly working. As explained in the video, must have the 12V circuit working (not blown fuse)
Thanks for this. Mine just had this issue. Poured out a good amount of oil. Is there a process to refill? Specific type oil used? Level it should be at full? Much appreciated
New to dump trailers. Had mine do the same thing so I bought some hydraulic fluid for it, filled it back up. After I filled it I noticed a sticker on the top inside of the tool box lid saying “ USE ONLY DEXRON TRANSMISSION FLUID” should I flush it all out an use the Dexron or hydraulic fluid?
Does the fluid automatically go back once it’s raised on a charged battery? Just had this same issue. Where would you buy more fluid it it needs it as some did overflow
What would cause the pump not to run in the down position with a charged battery? Mine does this unless you play with the down button. The controller has been replaced.
I use a pretty big solar charger from PulseTech. It’s their 7W model. So my battery is always charged. But when you’re ready to dump can’t you just unplug the cord going to your truck?
Sure, when your battery is fully charged you have a few dumps before it gets discharged enough before trouble. (less with old battery) Always good to have truck's wiring into RV plug to always charge the dump trailer battery. Under load, that electric hyd motor takes a lot of juice.
I have the same trailer my daughter was using it and the power down wasn’t running so it overflowed the tank Now it sounds weird going up and is extremely slow. It is fine on the down cycle. What is the problem. I have run it all the way through the cycles no changes
@@bertoa1587 thanks for the reply turned out I had a bad splice job ( from running over the remote wire) that was shorting across after wires got twisted together. Cheers

Had this issue today, and it makes sense! Thanks so much!
Thanks for posting. It was very helpful troubleshooting my dump trailer issue!
Thank you very much for the info I was about to take my trailer to get it fixed very much appreciated
thanks for sharing. I would come across this issue some times and couldn't figure out why air was getting into the system. this explains a lot!
I just had that issue today, thank you for the info. Keep up the good work
Glad it helped

Excellent video
Very good video, I like this trick. Thanks.
Thank you for the info
wow! so if its a closed hydraulic system, where does the air come from? thanks for the great video!
Just happened to me. Thanks for the info
good video i learned lots..new to dump trailers ... my white ground wirer started to melt and overheat heat ...WHY?? thank-you
any recommendations on a good 2.5 amps charger?

Do the headlights need to be on to charge the battery from the tow vehicle

What type of oil use
Thanks
Thanks for this. Mine just had this issue. Poured out a good amount of oil. Is there a process to refill? Specific type oil used? Level it should be at full? Much appreciated
Depends on the pump. There should be a level line.
Good information thanks 🙏🏽
why do they over flow when lowering them with a load and a full charge battery?

Only trans fluid
@@EPRZEE got it! Thank you 🙏

Farm supply store or call trailer dealer.
Hi there!
What if my battery is good and it still overflows?
Perfect, thanks 👍

2nd battery is a must for these!
Maybe thats what I need been hell
@@justindabarber6905 do you have them linked? Or do you just have to swap between dumps?
Emded up having some one hook rig a wire directly to my battery so I just plug that in an dump works before that was bs always dead
I have two batteries on mine and it still went dead in use, maybe the 12volt is not working on truck.
@@justindabarber6905 do you mean you had the wire connected directly to your truck battery?
What is the oil used in that pump where can I buy it online
Thank you!
Does anyone know what hydraulic fluid brand it needs or exact one
Do not mix refer to owners manual.
Dexron

How many amps are the fuses you showed and why is there two ?
One is for the charger
Where is the fuse he’s talking about that can blow in the truck?
It will read trailer constant or something similar
Where is the air being pulled from
Vent.
How to replace How dryly moto and tank
Man is this video helpful.
Can you plug in that side charger and leave it on all the time?
Most use one that will maintain and not overcharge the battery
I have a bwise trailer and it will overflow with a fully charged battery when there's a load on. Any way to fix?
Are you bringing it down with weight in it?
@@bertoa1587 it does it even without weight now but when it started it was with weight
make a solar one
How do you keep the air from getting in the system?
Keep battery charged. Also have a power up and gravity down.
@@rondotrailer why would it be made with a power down if this is an issue? Anyways, thanks for the info, this was the problem with my farmway trailer.
This overflowed on me when I used the gravity down valve
Why does that happen? That's strange.

Sounds like you need to bleed the air and Possibly top off after

Thanks. This makes me not want a PJ. My TP has dumped all day 10-12. And with out my truck charging it. Power up gravity down
If only the fluid reservoir was a bit bigger say 25% taller
Single action cylinders don't suffer from overflow
Not true it just happened to mine
Then System capacity is bigger than reservoir capacity.
