    Thank you, I am new to hydraulic Systems, watched it a couple of months again but I didnot seem to understand what you where doing, but after watching it today I am very confident I can comfortably wire this systems. Thanks you so much. I just hope it works with what I want to do , as I am trying to build a CEB hydraulic machine. Any feedback on my project will be helpful, if not its still okay. Thank you again

      CEB Hydraulic Machine ? If you mean "Compressed Earth Block" it sounds like an interesting project. How can we be of assistance?

    The thermal protection inside is a positive temperature coefficient thermistor. They frequently use a thermal paste to help transfer heat into it. The hotter is gets, the higher resistance in the circuit goes. It works like a slow temp sensitive switch. They can also be designed to open and shut off.
    Even though this is a demonstration, please show the use of dielectric grease on wire terminals exposed to pressure washers, moisture from snow, rain or humidity. It’s just best practices. ASE Master Tech since 1978 - Retired.

      Thanks for the comments and advice Dean, yes you are correct the use of Dielectric Grease is a great idea to assist in the protection of electrical connections from moisture and dirt. Especially in the installation of these 12 Volt DC hydraulic power packs in mobile plant and road going vehicles.

    What is the flow from the unit? Seems like it’s pretty slow in turns of operating that actuator!

      Hi Tom thanks for watching and for your comments, Yes 12 and 24 Volt DC Hydraulic Power Packs are commonly available with low flows from 3 to 9 litres per minute. The pump in our video was rated at 5 litres per minute. It will, however, supply pressure of up to 200 bar or 3000 psi.
      Please also be aware that unlike AC motors, DC motors will slow down as pressure and load increase.
      These small power units are a cost-effective way of creating high loads but at relatively low and safe speeds (flows).
      One of the advantages of hydraulics and why they are used extensively in the industry is that massive forces can be generated with very fine control. The 3000 psi of pressure applied onto the red cylinder in the video will produce a pushing force of 14,700 lbs (6.7 metric tons)
      If you want more speed at the same pressure you will need a lot more power, as a rough rule you need 400 watts of power for every 1 litre per minute of flow at 200 bar (3,000psi)
      For example, a flow of 60 lt/min at 200 bar pressure will require 24 KW (32 HP) of "Electric Motor Power" If you are using an Internal combustion engine" as the power supply you should add another 20% more power taking the requirements to 28.8 kW or 38 HP.
      Cheers
      Tom

    Hello I got one same pump I bought like a month ago now is not working I been using it in a tree service dump truck sometimes work up but really slow and when i press button down goes really fast. Do you think is something wrong with pump ??

    • @Hydraulic.Online
      @Hydraulic.Online  4 года назад +1

      Miguel there may be a few reasons for this, how full is your tipper is, how much oil in your tank, the correct type of oil for the temperature, not enough motor power, pressure relief on pump set too low. If it is coming down too fast you may need a reverse check flow control valve, with this valve you can control flow on the down but free flow on the way up. You also need to check that the tank has a cap that can breathe (let air in and out of the tank and that is is not blocked with dust and dirt) You need to be very careful doing all these checks as it can be very dangerous working with high oil pressures and heavy loads.

    • @Hydraulic.Online

      Yes Andrew maybe, try checking the Carbon Brushes there should be 4 of them and they are spring loaded to push them onto the rotating commutator. If they are worn down too far they dont make good contact and can arc out and get damaged or burnt . Also check for water damage and or dust ingress.

    Hi, I have a double acting power kit and a cylinder that has a fitting on both ends..presumably A double acting cylinder..on a stacker lift...the motor was replaced...the old one had A power up a d gravity down lever....the new motors pump does not. Its just got 2 coils and a remote for up and down. When I hooked up new kit, I blew the seal on the cylinder bottom..and it pushed up the dust dirt sweep gasket at top of cyl. So I thought it can't take the down pressure...so what I want to do is have the down coil open so oil can just drain through without activation the motor. WHEW!! I hope I got my thought across and someoe can advise me? Thank you in advance! Ron.

    • @Hydraulic.Online
      @Hydraulic.Online  Год назад

      Check inside the remote you want power going to the down coil (for the oil) but you do not want power also going to the motor start coil.
      You will require power to motor start the solenoid coil for Up but Not on down.
      I am not quite sure how you can do that perhaps with a "Diode" as diodes let current flow one way but not the other?
      Talk to someone who knows about electricity and diodes.

    Hi I have a 24v hyd pump, should this work with a 12v battery or will I need to get a 24v battery?

    • @Hydraulic.Online
      @Hydraulic.Online  4 года назад

      Hellow Gordon Thanks for your question and for watching our video,
      We Do Not recommend you try this, as Feeding a 24 Volt DC motor with only 12 Volts DC, barely half of it's rated voltage, may not be enough to even turn the motor, depending on the load which will be a lot in a hydraulic pump application. Also the back EMF will also cause additional resistance, that the reduced voltage may not able to overcome, causing the motor to stall out.
      (the majority of the answer above is courtesy of Quora.com)
      12 and 24 Volt DC hydraulic pump motors will draw large currents at elevated pressures, 120 amps are very common so make sure large cross section electrical cables similar to those used on automotive batteries and starter motors are required.
      If running long cable lengths over 3 meters (10 feet) we highly recommend you use 200 amp welding cable and terminals. We find welding cable and terminals to be far more cost effective and flexible than automotive cable of a similar amp rating.
      The best way to generate 24 volts DC is with two 12V DC batteries of the same type, size and charge condition connected in Series.
      (Series means that the positive of the first battery is connected to the positive terminal of the motor's start solenoid, (please watch our video again for start solenoid connections)
      the negative of the first battery is then connected to positive of the second battery, and the negative of the 2nd battery is then connected to the earth (frame) or negative terminal of the motor)
      Hope this answer has helped.

    • @deankay4434
      @deankay4434 3 года назад

      @Gordan Muir >This is a good question Gordon. If the systems label or DMM indicates your system is designed to run on 24Vdc, then you would have to replace it with the same. He gave you the correct answer but running on 1/2th the voltage will run slow, heat up fast and cause damage. You can & should check you batteries and connections is job one. You can run 2 batteries in series like in a flashlight as two will produce 24Vdc to operate you system. On a truck, you can have a lift gate, snow plow or outriggers to provide a stable wider stance to the vehicles stance. If low current or high current/amperage, go to a home improvement store and purchase dielectric grease and use on terminals to prevent oxygen and gasses from accelerating corrosion on the copper wire and metal parts. Best of luck! ASE Master Tech since 1978 - Retired.

    now how do u start the motor with regular socket power? with a 12vdc power supply?

    • @Hydraulic.Online
      @Hydraulic.Online  3 года назад +1

      Unless you have a very large transformer that can generate very high amps (between 120 to 200 amps like a size of a welding transformer) you will not be able to use socket power. Best to talk to an electrician about this requirement. One or better yet two Large 12 V DC lead acid batteries conected in parallelled with a quality 10 to 20 amp intelligent charger permanently connected to the batteries and with the charger constantly connected to a regular power socket is best for a home/garage installation. The intelligent charger will constantly top up the batteries and keep them ready for use. Please be aware! Keep this installation well ventilated as flamable gasses can be generated while the batteries are being charged.

    Can a double acting 12v pump be mounted vertical

    • @Hydraulic.Online
      @Hydraulic.Online  Год назад

      Yes, it can be mounted vertically with the tank at the bottom but it will have to be ordered specially so that the suction system is extended to the bottom of the tank. Alternatively you could pull the tank off and modify the suction pipe (by adding a length of hose) so that the pump sucks from the bottom of the tank.

    • @Hydraulic.Online
      @Hydraulic.Online  3 года назад +1

      Hi Michael
      Hmm good question, this would probably be possible, however you would need a very large transformer and cables capable of supplying up to 200 Amps (eg like something from a large welder) It would be best to consult with an industrial electrician or an electrical engineer.

      Akhilesh Not quite sure what you are asking but if it is about cable cross section to supply the motor the bigger the better, these units draw up to 150 amps, so think cables the size you would use on the starter motor of a large car or small truck. We use welding cable for long lengths as it is readily available and not as expensive as Automotive parts.

      The RPM of the DC powerpacks vary between 2000-4000rpm. This is dependent on load; under low load the rpm will be higher, under high load it will slow down. AC powerpacks on the other hand run at around 2800rpm fairly consistently.
