I'm using this laptop for 14 months now, and I agree that there's a problem with the build. Sometime in May (which was a few days from the end of my warranty), the screen's frame on the lower left side opened, and the higher also misaligned. Lucky for me, the shop where I bought the laptop was able to repair it themselves. Besides that, I have no issues with the software, as everything is so fast and convenient.
After that is the repairment give your laptop better than before or same? Plz answer me, cuz i am just buy this laptop also🥲

Thanks for sharing this. My laptop did not have the issue you mentioned but my screen was flickering really badly every now and then, and blackouts happen quite often too, mind you, I'm a university student and laptop is essentially my life lol. I've contacted Lenovo premium care support since November 2021 and the issue is not yet resolved as of now (March 2022). Their customer support line is the absolute worst imo, does not feel premium at all, some of the agents are super cocky! And some didn't even bother sending me my case number or follow up with my case. It's my first Lenovo laptop and I definitely would not spend another buck on this brand again.

I experienced the same problem with a Lenovo IdeaPad 5i. I think same model as you have in the video. Computer was only used on desktop (never dropped) and was just a couple weeks short of the 12 month warranty (and purchased from Costco). Left hinge broke just like yours with small plastic bits falling out. Shipped it back to Lenovo for warranty service. I'm awaiting their confirmation that this was a warranty issue and will be fixed for me. For a computer used exclusively on desktop with relatively few screen open & close cycles, this shows pretty poor Lenovo quality.

Thank you. You saved us. I was making suggestions for a friend and this was going up against an HP Probook (both used). Now that I've seen your video I've looked around and found that numerous people have similar issues. This is now out of the running. A shame since my last Lenovo Ideapad was a powerhouse, built extremely well lasted for years.

Thank you for sharing your experience so far using the slim 5i! I wish more RUclipsrs gave updates so we know what to expect from the laptop long-term. I currently own the hp envy 14" and even though it has been amazing overall, I'm been having issues with the built quality (ie. lots of creaking, hinges of the top lid are stiff that many other users often complain about, and the top lid is designed with some gap between the keyboard and it to allow for airflow so it's not exactly ideal for using remotely or putting in your bag where it is pressed against other items, etc) and I would have liked to see more people talk about. But it's hard to find reviews that address such complaints and brand-related issues that might deter buyers. I'm sure your viewers will find this very helpful! :)
I don't think it's true ...I have used this laptop form 8 months nothing facing yet....and I am too happy with battery life of it...it gives me 8 hr battery backup...very bright display and glance feature is also cool ✌️

Thank you for sharing your experience .I am facing the same problem with my 6-7month old Lenovo think book. I too found that some plastic parts( basically thread parts connecting screws and body /hinges) coming out in the form broken granules and eventually hinges and casing part got apart. Raised a ticket with Lenovo Premier customer care (as my product is entitled for Premier support warranty package), Lenevo is still asking me to pay apprx Rs 20K for fixing it( 7800 for LCD cover+5000 for hinges + 5000 for hinge covers + 1250 for installation)considering it as an accidental problem. It seems Lenovo intentionally trying to hide their product quality problem and asking customers to get it fixed with additional cost . It's quite strange that though they having same case history, but still acting as if don't aware of such problems.
Hey bro I am using this IdeaPad slim 5 since 3 days now & what I have observed is that the laptop's upper part (screen) vibrates while moving it (opening/closing). Did this happen with you too during the initial days or is it a sign that the hinges are weak ?
No its a wobbling issue its normal if it only occur for 1-2 sec if it happen for a long time like 3-4 second than contact to costumer care ...

I had similar issue, my hinges were tight, so they replace the panel and all, and asked me to visit service centre. Now my camera also stopped working. Technician asked to visit service centre. so what should be the problem with camera ?
When replacing the hinge, they will remove the screen and top panel. There will be thin paper like cable which will go from mother board to camera. They might have damaged that cable while replacing hinge. So they might replace the camera cable this time.

mine is only 3 weeks old but i started hearing this clicking noise 2 days ago. I noticed that the noise is coming from the right hinge and when i checked it i also notice a gap between the screen and the bezel whenever i open the laptop. what should i do? i heard it's impossible to get it covered by the warranty :(

You will get 1 yr premium service by default. So initial 1 yr you will be covered. Moreover, this is not the issue with all the laptops. So what I have observed is if there is any problem with the device it should be revealed by first 5-6 months. U can go ahead with this device based on the performance. Build quality issue is with few devices only.

Don't buy it. Gets heated up when the lid is closed and drains full battery in less than 30 mins in sleep mode. It heats up so bad in sleep mode that you can't even touch it. Ironically, it doesn't get heat up so much when you are actually using it.

Is your laptop plastic or aluminum ? I got mine ideapad 5 pro last week, full aluminum but screen bezel. Should I be worried ? Wish they had aluminum bezel like Acer Swift 2019 :( Now I'm so worried
The bezels are screwed against a plastic base behind the screen,that is prone to melting,leading to hinges snapping and breaking the screen. Happened to me with a superior model,its a big design flaw with all lenovo laptops.

2:25 exactly. i have the same model that i bought in 2021 and 6 months back its left side hinge was broken and yesterday right side hinge was broken. its very heart broken moment for me because after paying 60k we are getting poor built quality. i used a dell laptop for 12 years and never faced any issue with that.

My ideapad from 2013 also have a hinge issue after taking it out to cafe 20 times..
outside yoga and thinkpad line up Lenovo never change it’s pathetic hinge on Ideapad and now HP follow suits avoid it all cost!

7 months and my hinge broke, the bezel cracked. I never even carry laptop anywhere. Lenovo said they were not going to fix. Bitching at Costco and getting them to intervene got it done. I will NEVER buy another.

My IdeaPad 5 hinge broke after a year. They fixed it and I babied but it broke again after 3 months. Why make such a nice laptop with such an egregious flaw? They lost my future business.

The same problem plagues a lot of Acer laptops, sad to see Lenovo also shipping such poorly designed hinges.
Ideapad is the worse lineup under lenovo. Never buy ideapad. I have ideapad 330, issues are with keyboard, plastic is very bad

As informed in the video, many people are facing some or the other issues with this laptop. And with hp generally most of the variants have heating issue. So suggest to think about both of them before buying it

Problem here is not on the configuration or specification, It is about how the body of the laptop was made. so i would suggest you to compare the body of your required one with the ideapad 5i that is shared here

May be same problem happen of lenovo ideapad model series. I have faced this problem after using 3 months. Laptops performance is good, but their plastic body build is very cheap. i am very disappointed to buy lenovo laptop and its my first buying laptop. Hey bro, if found some issue then, don't highlights only the issue, while it can be done smoothly, cuz u have ADP, and you can buy 2yrs extended warranty at 2799/2999/- rs only, it's the only one brand which cover their laptop's damage in base warranty, isn't it good, if you showing problem then show the solution too.
Cuz I have been using this laptop since started civil engineering, it stands good yet. Even no other brand has same specs at this price.

Should not face any issue with android studio with 16gb ram. For machine learning models I haven’t tried that, so can not comment on that part.
don't know about xe graphics, but i've been using the ryzen 5700U 16GB ram version and android studio works remarkably well.... i can easily compile for 3 emulators at the same time... while having a second 1080p display connected..

The main problem is with Bessel plastic. I would suggest u to avoid as I do not see any change in design of hinge

Now it working fine or have the same issue. I just baught this and saw ur video later. Its on one year accidental warranty. So should i worried or feel safe if this happens to me. Although its very bad if laptops is having such build quality.
No need to worry. It is the case with few laptops. But as u are covered with accidental warranty. Any issue will be done under warranty. Only challenge is you need to continuously follow up as this is going to take more time.
After the service it is fine for me and I don’t see any issue as of now

I'm facing the same issue now and I'm out of warranty too. Is that the glue used for sticking the bezel runs out or something broken inside the hinge???
In my case the hinge was hard and it damaged the small plastic parts underneath Bessel.

With in 1yr u can use it any number of times. More over u can tell them that after replacing I still see the issue, they will replace it again. Try raising the complaint again.

I am facing the exact same issue and also my laptop is out of warranty and they are asking 900rs just to diagnose and tell me if they can repair it or not. they are asking 2200 overall to repair the issue.

Yeah, try to buy warranty if you are still eligible to, as you mentioned it’s 1 year. So that you can save money, else with out warranty they are charging very high repair cost.

I have contacted through their premium customer care number and then started posted in Twitter so that they respond. It takes more time to respond if u don’t follow up continuously and preferably post ur issue in Twitter and they will respond more quickly than normal
