    Couldn't help but notice the Intel UHD. That means the 16gb ram on this version is only working in single channel mode.
    (Though I know DDR5 is inherently "dual channel". Weird how the whole UHD or Iris XE spec works)

      I ordered the laptop slim 5i but I am seriously considering returning it for an exact same spec’d pro as the one you bought.
      The pro has a larger battery and a more efficient amd processor and would only cost around €160 more.
      How is the battery life when doing light programming or office work on the pro?

      @@Dovecomputers sorry for the late reply, yea it peforms as shown tbh, depending on what you want to do with it light gaming,, older games etc it does a job. It's nice having USB4 there so full speed TB3 enclosure if you want to use something more powerful ideally for rendering or such, tried it and get some solid gaming perf with the CPU running cooler, boosting a little higher as not running the iGPU too or having to include that in it's power targets.
      I actually ended getting it for under £600 after cashback so was really pleased.

    • @dizaleh
      @dizaleh Год назад

      @@Swedish2strokerider I don't really tend to look at battery life, it lasts long enough for me out and about and the usbc charger anyway it portable and if I'm on the go I got a 100w baesus in car charger which I paid like £17 for which chargees at 100w for this and my Legion 7 2021.
      Got a decent powerbank I can put some juice into it anyway but yea the bigger 75wh battery is nice for the 14" laptop.
      But I'd say runs on average like a lot of benchmarks and reviews out there, there's some tuning you can do ofcoz limiting stuff and so on, UTXU hopefully works with the 7840HS at some point, it's a lower clocked 7940HS prob a chip that wasn't ideal for the 7940 so labeled as 7840s to sell so I dunno the future on being able to undervolt etc but would be nice if you can, but you can always limit things in windows to an extent anyway like processor power management minimum and max etc and so on.

    Great review, on point and no nonsense!
    I would like your advice as I just ordered a unit with this exact same specs, i7-13620H with 16GB ram and 1TB ssd. I am studying my first year at a technical university for reference. For computer heavy tasks such as CAD I have a large laptop with an older i7-H processor and dedicated graphics. This will mainly be used for programming and lighter task but processing power is welcome.
    I am uncertain about the processor though. I can get the same laptop for the same price but with the Ryzen 7 7730U and 512GB ssd. On paper the ryzen is worse, but I am considering the effect on the battery and heat of the keyboard along with the fan noises. I have tried the laptop with 7730U at the shop and it was cold and silent with an indicated battery of 8 hours at idle. I got my hands on one with i5-12450H as well and that one was warm and indicated battery life was 4 hours on full charge when idling, and 1.xx hours performing tasks, with the 57kwh battery.
    I do have an available power supply on all lectures but it would be nice not having to, and I am concerned with heat and fan noise.
    My questions are:
    Is the gen 13 i7 better in poweefficency than the gen 12?
    Can this small chassis make use of the 13620H?
    Have you done for their tests on the battery life on your ideapad?
    What do you think about the situation?
    I am sorry for the block of text but there is not much info on this exact config out there.

    Great review - thank you! I've recently bought this laptop for my son, and I wanted to connect an external display, but using the HDMI (1.4b) connection means that the display output is limited to 1080p - even though the monitor can handle higher resolutions. As the laptop is charged with the same USB C port which can do display out (and presumably handle higher resolutions than the HDMI) I'm struggling to see how I can get a the higher resolution display, without disconnecting the power? If so this seems like an unfortunate omission by Lenovo - where it would have been easy to include a 2nd USB C port with Display out, or an HDMI 2.0. I'm guessing that the only way to achieve what I want to do is to use a USB C dock? If so does it have to be a Lenovo dock, or would a generic one work?

    Hi, I'm looking for a laptop for my sister, who's a lawyer. She needs a small, light, portable, efficient, 14inch laptop for productivity (mostly work in Office apps) and entertainment. In my country, I found this Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 with ryzen 5 7530u in 2 variants. One is with the 1200p OLED display and the other one's with a classic 1200p IPS display. I also found Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 with Ryzen 5 6600HS with a 2.2k IPS display for a very similar price. • @Dovecomputers
      @Dovecomputers  10 месяцев назад +1

      For this type of work, the Slim 5 with 7530U or Ryzen 7 7730U would be perfect with the OLED display. In the UK, the 7730U/OLED* is £592 Black Friday deal which is a bargain price. *Also you can only get it in OLED now only in the UK. OLED panels eat into a bit of battery life compared to IPS displays, so that's something to consider unless you will have the laptop at a desk all the time. The IdeaPad Pro 5 has more performance than the Slim 5, but the battery life won't be as good as the U-series of processors. The other 14 inch laptops to look at is the Yoga Pro 7 AMD and the Yoga Slim 7 AMD, both great laptops with newer processors, the AMD 7840U/7840S. If you watch my last two video reviews, they have this processor. (Great performance/battery life)

    • @Dovecomputers

      What type of software will you be running? Some are processor intensive, so decent i7/i9 CPU, plenty of memory (32GB) and some require a dedicated GPU for additional processing.
