I searched the entire world for this review. I bought the 14" based on your previous version's review thinking how worse can it be! Your review exactly matches my two month's usage experience. Faboulous job on the review!
Thanks for the review! Great video. I got the 6800HS 16” model for $1100 as soon as it came out at Microcenter and it has been fantastic for me as an office productivity and light gaming and light video production laptop. I’m glad it gets your seal of approval too!
@@AstroEmanuele normal office work it’s cool and quiet and I never notice the fans. When I’m gaming it gets hot and loud but not as hot and loud as my brothers G14 (4800HS RTX2060). But of course his laptop is pushing quite a bit more wattage with that 2060.
Bro in my country the cheapest ideapad 5 pro is 999 EUR and it doesn't even come with a dedicated graphics card!!!! Most laptops don't! Guy in the video says 850 US dollars for a laptop with an RTX3050 GPU but the cheapest laptop with that GPU in my country is 1,100 EUR!! OYOYOYOYOY
The UK 14" model has the option to add a 2.8K (up from 2.2K) 90hz, 400 nit, 100% sRGB display for only an extra £50. Makes the 14 inch model really competitive as an entry-to-mid level thin-and-light.
After my screen hinges broke after maybe a year on an Asus Vivobook I switched to Lenovo. I compare every time I need a laptop upgrade but Asus tend to have glare screens and they do various experimental gimmicky stuff like like the touchpad with numpad, the touchpad between the screen and keyboard and the "OLED Space Edition" while Lenovo sticks to their tried and proven format that doesn't break after a year...
Almost got the 16" version based on this review. Amazing stuff Josh. Sadly, the old school in me needed an Ethernet port as a back up in case the WI-FI card died while at the office. If not for that, this would've been my purchase choice for sure.
Finally a review of this CPU, there's no review for the performance of this AMD's 6 cores CPU. I was looking for a feedback of this CPU since August before buying my Lenovo ideapad gaming 3 Gen 7, which feature the R5 6600H with an rtx 3050 Ti. As you said it's a great value CPU mine multicore Score on CINEBENCH R23 is 10635 pts / 1462 pts single core (Performance Mode on Lenovo Vantage). Thank you Josh, keep the good work
Bought the 14" with the Ryzen 7 6800HS without a dedicated GPU after working with an HP ProBook 6475b for the last 10 years or so. Sadly the value is not that great (like for all other PC electronics rn) here in Germany and there weren't any student discounts for them either so I had to pay the ~1200€ including VAT. Can confirm that the laptop is getting pretty loud under full load and I can hear it with light tasks but it's fine for what it is. With the 8 core variant of the CPU I still don't have any issues with the laptop getting too warm. Although the integrated graphics are great I'm constatly running into the 2 GB VRAM wall and I think they could be even better if you could dedicate just a little more of your memory to the iGPU.
Hi, I am considering this laptop and I wanted to ask how is it so far? Were there some new issues that came up and how is the battery? Is the fan noise bearable after those months you have Been using it? Thank you in advance.
So do I. I got the ideapad 5 pro gen 6 with ryzen 7 5800H and GTX 1650 and 500GB disk, as it was the only config available in the UK at the time. Overall, I am quite pleased with the laptop, but the one issue I have with it is its heat distribution. Even if I only use the laptop for simple tasks like browsing websites, the panel above the function keys tends to get so hot it's impossible to touch it without scalding your fingers, and the numeric keys in the middle section (4 to 0) are usually quite warm as well. I guess it's useful in winter, but I'd rather not have to 'enjoy' this feature all the time. Similarly, after just a few minutes of using the laptop, the bottom part of the chassis gets so hot I literally cannot keep it on my lap without a protective pad. I was wondering if it's normal for this model, or if it's just my experience... Would you care to share yours? thanks.
@@laukaz02 I have the same model. For light tasks, as long as you dont put your laptop on fabric and bedsheet it's completely cool. Turning on the inteligent cooling helps as well
@@LilTiger2k The 14 inch Ryzen 5500U retails (here in the UK) at cheapest £400 up to £500 with 8 gigs of ram and a 256gb NVMe SSD, however I don't think the ram is upgradeable unfortunately, only the SSD. But the 5500U is a pretty capable processor
Best review on this - very comprehensive. I ended up getting one recently but neglected to notice the condensed keyboard due to the full numeric keypad on the right (barely ever used day-to-day). So it’s very cramped for average size hands, and I can see this being a reason to return it.
Ive been waiting for this laptop and this review for months. Thank you. I wish the two graphic outputs could have been compared along with the iGPU and the slim 7.
Hi Josh. Great review. I just bought the 16” Pro with the 6600HS, and love it, except for one maddening detail. And it is making me want to return it, but all the other specs and great build quality are hard to give up. That detail is the fact that the fans (or fan - not sure if it’s only one) rev up when the CPU temp reaches about 40 degrees C, which happens even when doing something so easy as launching another app or scrolling a browser. It’s ridiculous! It wouldn’t be so noticeable if the fans were always running, but since they cut in and out, it’s very noticeable in an otherwise quiet room. The BIOS provides no fan settings, and custom fan curves and other nice tweaks provided by various third party utilities don’t support this new CPU yet. Do you happen to have a solution?
@@alexp3577 Yup, it happens on the balanced power mode too. If I was doing something that actually *justified* having the fans run, I'd be fine with it, but I'm not doing anything CPU intensive AT ALL. And the fans turn on at 40 degrees C all the damn time. The temp then drops to 34 or so after a few minutes, but the minute it creeps up to 40, the fans turn on. I'm not sure if it's both fans or just one and I've found no utility that will tell me that either: the fans seem to be invisible to all third party sensor monitoring apps.
@@AhmedAkram903 It's ok, but I'm not a "performance user". I merely wanted a new laptop with future-proof specs to replace my trusty Dell Inspiron 15" that I bought in 2016. That one BTW, didn't start running the fans until the 2 core CPU hit 70 degrees C. I couldn't do better than Josh does starting at 6:20 where he benchmarks the 16" AMD model and compares it to similar ones. The fan noise when doing virtually nothing (CPU at 40 degrees C) is STILL quite annoying and I haven't gotten used to it. And I also have another problem I'm still trying to diagnose: random restarts that happen overnight when the machine is in sleep mode. After disabling sleep mode the laptop hasn't restarted during the day in the past 10 days, and I shut it down at night. I'll be letting it stay booted up at night in a few days to see it if still doesn't randomly reboot when in sleep mode, even at night.
Thank you so much for this video, Josh. I am planning to get the Lenovo Thinkpad laptop, either T series or E series. My budget is less than $1000. I really heard good things from you when it came to lenovo keyboards, when it comes to typing. Would you suggest I go with the thinkpad series as a student who would have to type a lot?
Since you would be typing a lot for academic course, I would suggest you try these laptop keyboard at Lenovo showroom. This would clear out your doubt of how they would fit your requirement. Full keyboard and ten keyless variants as in the 14-inch variant also provide differing experience in terms of how you would align your hand and if you require the numpad. And lastly keyboard is very subjective matter, and it is good to try them before buying.
performance difference can be related to shared thermal with 3050 dgpu, i think you better off with R7-6800H without 3050, for better thermals and probably CPU performance I ordered CN version of 16 model wih 6800H without DGPU, for 2D autocad work, huge amount of excel and some light coding for around $1100, can't wait for delivery
@@JustJoshTech What's more important, on lenovo official product page 3050 model have MUCH less battery life. I think you should evaluate Radeon 680M performance for yor usual tasks compared with 3050 class GPU because in this light chassis thermals and battery life is top priority IMO. That would be interesting.
14 inch alternatives are not in the same price range. Asus Zenbook UX3402 is 1000$+ MacBook has only 8GB Ram and 256GB soldered memory.. HP - same problem, its1000$+
Just bought the 16" 32gb, 1tb, Ryzen 7 version that they have in Australia for only $1500 AUD on sale. Praying it goes well cause I've always been an ASUS girl
At the moment there is a great offer (at least in my country) with a 20% discount code appearing on the Lenovo site. The 14'' model with 2.8k (2880x1800) and 120 Hz screen, 8 cores Ryzen 7 7840HS, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB HD, 75 Wh battery and no OS only costs 700$. I couldn't find a comparable notebook for the same price. Didn't get it now, so no personal experience.
Thank you for this great review Josh! I just bought the 16 inch for 803 and, per HWiNFO64, mine came with a BOE NE160QDM-NY1 IPS display. This display has 165Hz refresh, 1200:1 contrast ratio and 500 nits brightness. It is plenty bright for my use and very sharp. I am having no problem running the scaling at 125% instead of the default 150%. Also, laptopmedia has a color calibration package available for this display, I have that installed and it looks fantastic.
What about fan noise? I heard someone say the fans start up with noticeable noise once it reaches 40°C even when doing mundane tasks that don't stress the CPU in any way
Hello Josh. I hope you see this message. There are practically no laptops for programmers on the market ... You have to choose from stripped-down multimedia laptops or monstrous gaming laptops. What programmers want is a powerful gaming laptop, but without a discrete GPU. The 90-140W GPU makes the laptop heavy, thick, and also adds a huge power supply. The Legion 5 Pro, for example, is a great laptop for software developers if it wasn't for the discrete GPU. It would be thinner and lighter but would have a powerful cooling solution (no high frequency sound), 2 memory slots, 2 SSD slots, 165hz screen! The only model that comes to mind is the Dell xps-17. But it has an Intel processor (which is not at all energy efficient) and is very expensive(cost like two gaming laptops).
I personally think the Macbook Pro 14 M1 is the best laptop for programmers right now if you can handle Mac OS. For Windows laptops its tough. I agree with you. I will try to put my thoughts on a good Windows one in my Black Friday round up, but it is tough for sure
A big greeting and I am glad to see your reviews which are really fantastically realistic and interesting. Via Amazon de. I ordered a Lenovo Idea Pad 5 pro 16"-AMD Ryzen R5 6600HS | 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD | AMD Radeon 660M.(ordered it 2 months ago, haven't received it yet) I wanted an HP spectre x360 15" earlier but unfortunately I didn't buy it.. which I regret considering the keyboard is fantastic overall at HP .I have a desktop computer with motherboard Asus..on which I play games and I don't want to play demanding games on this laptop, I want to watch Netflix, RUclips and surf the web... Am I wrong in not taking the other option with the Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU... and does it make a difference in my daily work - web surfing and multimedia? Probably a stronger graphics card consumes more battery..Btw.I looked at Asus, but Asus still can't replace Sony, which used to make fantastic Vaio series, when it comes to laptops.
Thank you for the vid Josh! I got the 14” one at around..$700 When AmEx was running a promotion and simply could not say no to that price. It’s a great little performer and came with a super fast Samsung 1tb ssd.
@@danielkvinov8303 Fans? I thought this was a fanless unit! i didnt notice any. Anyways, I can’t recommend anything Lenovo at this point because their customer service treated me like a pos in America and TB port died
Thank You Lenovo for putting Page-up, page-down, home and end keys shortcuts on arrow keys, it makes productivity and writing insanely fast. Thank you Josh for this review 🙏🏼
Thanks for this! But you've just made my laptop hunt a bit more tricky. How do you think the 14in version here compares against an Acer Swift X with Ryzen 7 5800U | NVIDIA RTX 3050Ti Laptop GPU | 16GB LPDDR4X priced at about USD$980?
I don't think he's going to answer that but you can find that very same Acer on Amazon US for $749 but the $700 Ideapad offers more value since it has a better display and better ports. In summary the Ideapad 5 Pro has better value and the Swift X has better CPU performance but they are mostly similar. I hope this helps, Happy buying.
Based on your last year models praises, I got one with 5600H and RTX 3050. It has been a great laptop for its size and weight. Good for work, content consumption and lighter gaming with the big and fast screen. I have been enjoying playing Fallout New Vegas, Divinity: Original Sin, DOOM 2016 and other a bit older games along with Risk of Rain 2 for newer releases. Something that didn't come up in your review is that the 3,5mm audio port creates a nasty buzzing sound with active speakers if there is no sound playing on the computer. I guess that it has something to do with power management switching something off because if an ambient inaudible sound is playing, there is no buzz with the 3,5mm connected speakers. It's a minor annoyance that's solved with playing some inaudible sound on a loop.
A lot of modern laptops seem to have this problem, actually. My Envy x360 has it although it's not that loud, and I know at least two other people that have similar problems.
You can fix it with a little usb stick soundcard. But its annoying. Maybe its time to switch more and more to wireless connections. Bluetooth somehow doesnt seem to be developed far enough sadly. (latences and low quality or complicated codecs that are not supported by every device)
You can use a small audio noise grounding loop. Amazon sells a bunch. It'll clear up all static, hums etc. It's because the signal is not grounded. It happens a lot in audio. It's why you use balanced cables for studio monitors.
@@JamieR Nope, didn't fix it because I already had one for my speakers. It's got something to do with the audio board going into standby mode and messing up the signal chain. Like I stated in my original comment, the buzzing goes away if the laptop has sound playing, and comes back if the sound stops for ~10 seconds.
@JustJosh I've just realised that there's a 2022 Lenovo laptop that's better value than the Slim 7 Pro X and more suitable as an everyday driver for non-power users than these IdeaPads BUT it doesn't appear to be available in the US so it may have slipped under your radar: the Ryzen 6000 U-series powered 2in1 Yoga 7 Gen 7. Available with a 2.8K QHD screen it has all the bells and whistles of these other laptops but with the 28W CPU and the new Radeon 680 integrated graphics it offers amazing all round ability as well as quieter running and better battery life than the Alder Lake (or even Ryzen H or HS) powered alternatives. Obviously, it has only modest gaming ability and is no good for video editing or other power applications but for average users, it's possibly the best Windows ultrabook currently available at the price (c. $1,100). Pretty amazing for a 2-in-1 which normally means a value-compromised machine. I don't think you can review it however as you won't be able to get one unless you buy it in Europe or APAC?
Is there a laptop with the following features in the market, please: * Latest generation processor (i7 -i9 - ryzen 7 - ryzen 9) * Long battery life - thin laptop * Useful graphics card in artificial intelligence and cyber security (at least 1650) * Light laptop, small adapter (laptop should not exceed 1.8kg or something) > This is the issue I have the most difficulty with, I can't find it at this weight, with such features, my own laptop is heavy and my adapter is heavy Thank you very much
can you make a video about matte and glossy screens?, i understand ideapad 5i pro is a matte screen, but i would like to know your opinion about matte screens, are they good for programming, video edition, etc?, by the way good job on your videos man!!!!
I live the OLED screen is Asus laptops, but damn if you're using your laptop everyday for full-time work, IPS is so much better. Relly hope that OLED won't replace IPS entirely in the future
Josh, as always, great videos! I was wondering if you plan to review the higher-end laptops like the Thinkpad T, X, or even P? It's really hard to find some decent objective technical info about such laptops.
What you say at 1:02 about Lenovo's online pricing is so TRUE and FRUSTRATING. Outrageously high default pricing and very frequent sales of 30, 40, 50, or 60 percent off.
after this video has been recommended to me for... a while, I finally clicked it just to see how much cheaper the US prices are gonna be rest assured I didn't expect these laptops to be literally half the price as they are over here. for 700-800 (€ in my case) I get the 6600HS, but no dedicated GPU :D I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised, as I've learned for myself the Lenovo Z13 and Z16 laptop prices are about a grand less in the US as they are here :)
Got 14 in for 550 at Costco open box. Very solid. Complaints would be battery doesn't last very long and keyboard doesn't feel that good. At the brightest it's plenty bright and display seems very good for smaller laptop.
I'm not going to lie, I really love my lenovo ideapad pro 5. I got it since I wanted a windows laptop for other purposes that I don't want to do on my 15 Inch Mid 2014 Macbook Pro. I will say though that I still love my 9 year old macbook a lot more still in general, it's just a bit faster and better display($569 on Amazon). BUT for the price I got my ideapad 5 pro for, it's worth it!
Hey, could you maybe make a comparison between the lenovo yoga 14 inch model (Ryzen 7 6800u OLED) and the 16 inch model (Intel Core i7 1260p)?! I would love to see that review!
I have the 16" version with R7 6800HS, it's definitely great laptop for that price, but for some reason Realtek audio drivers is causing problem that the laptop sometimes can't wake up from sleep, lol. Which I assume is Lenovo's fault, since this problem is here for years and still repeating...
You think it’s the audio drivers? I and other on Reddit have had this problem. I found that disabling the auto sleep and auto wake function that is controlled by the IR camera solves the sleep wake issues. You can turn them off in vantage.
@@MoChuang343 i don't, i know. When I installed the drivers from 2019, the problem went away, so. Unfortunately sometimes Windows updates it and I have to reinstall it again, which is annoying. I have everything in Vantage turned off, but that didn't help. I made a post about it on Reddit as well and one of Lenovo mods replied with the Audio driver thread from their forum and it was it. Sadly the post is from 2019 lol.
@@bananeq__ Hmm...I did a clean Win11 install and then got Lenovo Vantage, AMD Adrenaline, and GeForce Experience. I let Windows, Vantage, Adrenaline, and GeForce auto detect and run updates on everything. Then I pretty much turned off all the fancy features in Vantage. Overall, I think I have a bloat-free system that has all the latest drivers and is perfectly stable with no weird glitches that I had before.
@@MoChuang343 I did clean install as well, didn't even install Vantage and that didn't help. I don't have the version with nVidia tho, so idk if it makes any sence that only iGPU version has this problem, but the 2019 audio driver solved it (or disabled audio driver is workaround as well, but not great one :D).
Unfortunately for me, the Lenovo thunderbolt dock that I used perfectly for two months are no longer sending signals to the monitors on the 14 inch model. Lenovo is claiming that no compatible docks are listed under this machine so they cannot honor repair for it. How convenient for Lenovo. I like the machine, but hate the company.
I have been looking for the 14” version in the Philippines, but what’s on the market is the previous generation (gen 6) of ideapad 5 pro. I’m not sure if its still good value for money to get it now because its a laptop that came out almost 2 years ago. I can’t tell when this version (gen 7) is coming to our market and if it will be priced the same or slightly higher to the 785$ price tag of the gen 6 today. I’d love to get the gen 7 version with the euro display tbh. Its brighter and has 90hz refresh rate.
I am really wondering... how good is the cooling? All gaming laptops with the same graphics (nVidia 3050, 3050ti and so on) have huge openings at the side or the back of the laptop, to give better cooling. This laptop only has the opening at the bottom, none at the side or the back. Doesnt it get really hot?
Yes because those big gaming laptops will have a more powerful version of the 3050. This one will have a cut down version, yes it does get hot but that happens to all laptops under heavy load
Hello good day I wonder if someone can help me with a question: What's the order of importance in 3d workloads Single core performance Multi core performance Dedicated GPU Cuz I'm on a tight budget and I need a laptop for university and I think this can help me choose my priorities Appreciated!
I wonder you would recommend the 16 ideapad from Lenovo or the 16 Vivobook from Asus. I am considering these two because they are in a similar price range. Thank you.
Hi, I'm thinking of buying this laptop, but the version with a ryzen 9 and rtx 3050, the use would be especially for games. I'd like to know your opinion (where I live there aren't many options) thanks!

Hey Josh, as awlays you've done a great work! I am thinking of buying the new Idea Pad 5 PRO or the Yoga Slim 7 ProX. Since you have tested both of the laptops, is there any chance to make a comparison between them? I see that both laptops have strengths and weaknesses but I as wondering what are your thoughts? I will really appreciate if you share some of them.
@@serrael-182 Yes, the idepad is the cheaper one. But I was wondering if those extra money worth the difference in the build quality. @@mariosokolov3838 the 6900 is clearly better. More modern and ddr5 right? It depends on the cost. I would say 200 more is justified. 100 more is a no brainer.

I thought the ideapad 5 pro 16 version would perform better than hp pavillion 14 plus, but it seems like that wasn't the case? Is it because of the AMD dedicated graphic?

I have the slightly older 16 inch model that came with a 1660 (I believe), amazing laptop!
Turning on the inteligent cooling helps as well
Yeah, intelligent cooling hasn't been helping much, unfortunately. Perhaps I have to investigate it.
Josh you should review the normal IdeaPad 5 with the Ryzen 5000 series - they seem like ever better value than their 4000 series counterparts now!
How much does it cost? Looking for a cheap powerful laptop
Shit screen
Best review on this - very comprehensive. I ended up getting one recently but neglected to notice the condensed keyboard due to the full numeric keypad on the right (barely ever used day-to-day). So it’s very cramped for average size hands, and I can see this being a reason to return it.
I've been waiting for you to review these
I don't need a laptop. I even don't like working on laptops, yet here I am watching every video of yours.
You are a legend
Thanks for covering these crazy value laptops, just what I need as a student :)
Try pressing FN+Q and choosing a balanced preset instead of turbo. Or does this happen on balanced too?
@@alexp3577 Yup, it happens on the balanced power mode too. If I was doing something that actually *justified* having the fans run, I'd be fine with it, but I'm not doing anything CPU intensive AT ALL. And the fans turn on at 40 degrees C all the damn time. The temp then drops to 34 or so after a few minutes, but the minute it creeps up to 40, the fans turn on. I'm not sure if it's both fans or just one and I've found no utility that will tell me that either: the fans seem to be invisible to all third party sensor monitoring apps.
Is the performance good? I want to buy one
Did you found a solution?
thanks for the review you are my go-to person when considering buying a laptop as you tend to say what it is like owning the laptop and use.
And lastly keyboard is very subjective matter, and it is good to try them before buying.
performance difference can be related to shared thermal with 3050 dgpu, i think you better off with R7-6800H without 3050, for better thermals and probably CPU performance
I ordered CN version of 16 model wih 6800H without DGPU, for 2D autocad work, huge amount of excel and some light coding for around $1100, can't wait for delivery
Very true and good point. I learn so much from you guys!
The iGPU only model is not available here in the US.
@@MoChuang343 Yeah i later checked that.
On Russian Website 15,6 hours for iGPU model and 9.2 for dGPU one
Is the 16" a better choice than slim 7 pro x?
14 inch alternatives are not in the same price range.
Asus Zenbook UX3402 is 1000$+
MacBook has only 8GB Ram and 256GB soldered memory..
HP - same problem, its1000$+
Just bought the 16" 32gb, 1tb, Ryzen 7 version that they have in Australia for only $1500 AUD on sale. Praying it goes well cause I've always been an ASUS girl
Thanks just ordered the 14in AMD 6600hs and 2.2k display for $1000 CAD
At the moment there is a great offer (at least in my country) with a 20% discount code appearing on the Lenovo site. The 14'' model with 2.8k (2880x1800) and 120 Hz screen, 8 cores Ryzen 7 7840HS, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB HD, 75 Wh battery and no OS only costs 700$. I couldn't find a comparable notebook for the same price. Didn't get it now, so no personal experience.
Any undervolting setup for 14” version would be appreciated from anyone.
Hello! Could you please tell me if you've had any overheating issues? Generally or on sleep? Everyone has been talking about them except reviewers
@@beastmaster69420 I have not. This laptop has be great so far!
I ordered a Lenovo Idea Pad 5 pro 16"-AMD Ryzen R5 6600HS | 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD | AMD Radeon 660M.(ordered it 2 months ago, haven't received it yet) I wanted an HP spectre x360 15" earlier but unfortunately I didn't buy it.. which I regret considering the keyboard is fantastic overall at HP
.I have a desktop computer with motherboard Asus..on which I play games and I don't want to play demanding games on this laptop,
I want to watch Netflix, RUclips and surf the web... Am I wrong in not taking the other option with the Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU... and does it make a difference in my daily work -
web surfing and multimedia? Probably a stronger graphics card consumes more battery..Btw.I looked at Asus, but Asus still can't replace Sony, which used to make fantastic Vaio series, when it comes to laptops.
I love the Excel comparison, thanks!
Thank you for the vid Josh! I got the 14” one at around..$700 When AmEx was running a promotion and simply could not say no to that price. It’s a great little performer and came with a super fast Samsung 1tb ssd.
Is the fan too loud? answer me please :D
@@danielkvinov8303 Fans? I thought this was a fanless unit! i didnt notice any. Anyways, I can’t recommend anything Lenovo at this point because their customer service treated me like a pos in America and TB port died

Nice post , very informative !
Is the 32GB RAM version of this laptop equally good ?
Great Video! But it would be nice to show the laptops from different angles!
It's at 749$
Definitely buy the swift x cuz it's a very good deal at 749$
I don't think he's going to answer that but you can find that very same Acer on Amazon US for $749 but the $700 Ideapad offers more value since it has a better display and better ports.
In summary the Ideapad 5 Pro has better value and the Swift X has better CPU performance but they are mostly similar.
I hope this helps, Happy buying.
Acer swift x no contest. Although the swift x has a lower quality display . But much more powerful internals
@@JamieR i tried one of these but they somehow made it worse. :D
After watched 4 Videos I am here. This review is save my day. 🥰👍
Is there a laptop with the following features in the market, please:
* Latest generation processor (i7 -i9 - ryzen 7 - ryzen 9)
* Long battery life - thin laptop
* Useful graphics card in artificial intelligence and cyber security (at least 1650)
* Light laptop, small adapter (laptop should not exceed 1.8kg or something) > This is the issue I have the most difficulty with, I can't find it at this weight, with such features, my own laptop is heavy and my adapter is heavy
Thank you very much
can you make a video about matte and glossy screens?, i understand ideapad 5i pro is a matte screen, but i would like to know your opinion about matte screens, are they good for programming, video edition, etc?, by the way good job on your videos man!!!!
Hey did you get matte scren? How it's for coding?
I live the OLED screen is Asus laptops, but damn if you're using your laptop everyday for full-time work, IPS is so much better. Relly hope that OLED won't replace IPS entirely in the future
Thanks a lot Josh for putting so much work into these invaluable reviews!
Josh, as always, great videos!
I was wondering if you plan to review the higher-end laptops like the Thinkpad T, X, or even P? It's really hard to find some decent objective technical info about such laptops.
Yeah I have the Thinkpad Xs here actually. Ts i don't know if i'll have time this year
good thing they put the headphone jack is where it should be, on the left
What you say at 1:02 about Lenovo's online pricing is so TRUE and FRUSTRATING. Outrageously high default pricing and very frequent sales of 30, 40, 50, or 60 percent off.
after this video has been recommended to me for... a while, I finally clicked it just to see how much cheaper the US prices are gonna be
rest assured I didn't expect these laptops to be literally half the price as they are over here.
for 700-800 (€ in my case) I get the 6600HS, but no dedicated GPU :D
I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised, as I've learned for myself the Lenovo Z13 and Z16 laptop prices are about a grand less in the US as they are here :)
Excellent review and comparison, thank you

The i5-11300H with MX450 model is also a solid option at $550 but also only 8GB RAM.
16 one is a good deal
Unfortunately for me, the Lenovo thunderbolt dock that I used perfectly for two months are no longer sending signals to the monitors on the 14 inch model. Lenovo is claiming that no compatible docks are listed under this machine so they cannot honor repair for it. How convenient for Lenovo. I like the machine, but hate the company.
Sadly, the Ideopad 5 Pro 16" is out of stock. For the moment, I'll stick with my Thinkbook.
Should I buy a used one for about 400? Found one on Craigslist and it sounds like a good deal

In my country, ideapad 5 doesn't come with backlight keyboard &it comes with ryzen 5 5500u. Which model is this? Are we scammed?
Hey Josh, I am curious about what operating system you use on your XPS 13 and why?
I am really wondering... how good is the cooling? All gaming laptops with the same graphics (nVidia 3050, 3050ti and so on) have huge openings at the side or the back of the laptop, to give better cooling. This laptop only has the opening at the bottom, none at the side or the back. Doesnt it get really hot?
Yes because those big gaming laptops will have a more powerful version of the 3050. This one will have a cut down version, yes it does get hot but that happens to all laptops under heavy load
the display of 14 inch should have been atleast 90hz and anti glare. weird choice by lenovo💁♂
