I love you . I’ve learned so much from you ! I’m a woman selling men’s items . Men don’t return as much or ask things like how many miles are on these shoes ?, or , how many times has this item been washed ?…. You are to the point . I’m so happy you found a good haul .
Nice haul. Happy for you. Don't ever feel ghoulish. Your doing exactly what the old boy would want for his clothing to do, bring pleasure and worth to his items.
Holy Moly, you got me at Brioni and when you pulled the 100% cashmere tag, I almost fell over. I waited and waited while you were going through them and I thought this haul has to have a brioni in it. Low and behold finally at the end you pull it out. Wow!!!! I have been selling for awhile and I anticipate you should make At least 4X your money. Don’t price low, you can always go down. I had a similar type haul with Issey Miaki the Japanese designer. I didn’t even know they made clothing I thought they just made the parfum. I caught 13 pieces of women’s pieces, dresses, jackets, blouses all when they brought them out still on the rack. These were runway pieces, like new no flaws or wear. I spent less then $100 on all 13 pieces. I made almost $1800. Congratulations to you sir 🤝
Awesome haul, love it when that happens. Maybe once a year the thrift heavens open and pour money on you. I've already sold some of these low, I think I'm just a quick flipper at heart. The Brioni is still priced at $415. Waiting for a bite.
Educational....I've done this once or twice with different items. I went to a 'magical' garage sale once where every item I picked up was right out of an antique book centerfold. I remember pulling an old pocket knife out of the bottom of a box and said to myself, 'the way this is going it's going to be a Winchester.".....and it was! I've never found another. The ghoulish thing....that's just part of it. If you mess with vintage or antique you've got to figure everything you're looking for once belonged to a dead person. Where the real dilemma lies is in ethics. When am I crossing the line from being an honest person? If there are a bunch of silver dollars in the bottom of a box of junk, do you keep your mouth shut? The 59 Les Paul guitar in the corner for $100? I figure I'm using my knowledge, time and resources to hunt this stuff down and if they didn't check out the bottom of the box that's my win. On the other hand, one time I was looking through some old shelves and there was an envelope tucked in a crack. I opened it and there was President Grant starring at me....two President Grants. That crossed the line. If it had been in the bottom of the old desk I bought...my score. It wasn't though and I had to give it to the owner. He had put it away 25 years before for an employee and lost it. It was a good laugh seeing it resurface. If I had scarfed it up that would have been putting a $100 price tag on my integrity. It's worth more to me than that....maybe $100 thousand or more and I'll turn to the dark side. I don't know...lol
I am with you on not using white. On screen it begins to hurt my eyes after awhile where a light gray or any soft pastel like beige or a steel blue-gray color works well. It is so much easier on the eyes to look at as well when scrolling through someone's store. For awhile I did a black background as well and I liked it except when I had a black item then it would get lost.
Nice to see you again. I'll give you my 2 cents as a formal clothing reseller. Some great stuff you found here but will probably take a bit longer to sell relative to other clothing items. The first brown suit from Isaia is a lower end line called Gianluca Isaia, which still will make good money but probably less than those from the main red label lines, quality is still great on those. Dolce & Gabanna is a no-brainer, great brand with lots of demand, though not particularly high quality. The Hickey Freeman is a much older line, and I've personally had bad luck on those older Hickey Freeman stuff. The other Isaia suit is great, peak lapels are a great detail, though not the current label, its from the main Isaia line and still considered to be recent. Barney's suit has nice fabric, but will likely not sell for a fortune. Armani Collezioni stuff has been hit or miss, but the style really matters for that stuff. The first Zegna suit you showed is a bit older (probably early 2000s), I still think they do okay, but are worse than some of the current stuff. Second Zegna suit seems to be Zegna fabric, instead of Zegna brand, which means it probably will be lower than some of the regular Zegna stuff, it also heavily depends on what brand it is actually from. As you said, those Belvest, Oxxford and Brioni pieces are more vintage, but I think they will do great regardless. Burberrys line stuff is also much older (1990s-ish), and I have personally not done too well with them (other than their gold button blazers). But overall, very nice stuff, and I'm confident you will make a nice profit.
@@Alex-ed9cr Alex...I'm curious about how you have this detail knowledge of men's clothing at 19? Unless your a "better late than never" freshman at 65 ! Great info !

You discussed the Ermenegildo Zegna brand. As a new reseller, my first sale was a brand new pair of Hoka mens shoes. I sold them for $129.99. I second item was a brand NWT Ermenegildo Zegna. The new tag showed retail $625. I got $74.99. Maybe I sold it for too cheap. However, I only payed $6.99. I was very excited, because these two items were my first sales! 😊👍
When I find great items like this...What I hope in my head, is the former owner is now retired, living the casual attired life. Congrats on these!! Good Score!
Learning so much from your men’s dress clothes videos. If I got a sport coat for $8 that I thought is worth 2-300, that’s stained, I would take it to the cleaners.
I found a HUGO Boss with the Loro Piana label, 100% wool black sport coat(?) and paid $2 and another $2 for dry cleaning and a quick stitch fix on the pocket. Thank you~ I wouldn't have known what to look for if it wasn't for your videos.
Great haul! I a learning so much about menswear from you-thanks! I recently sold a wool skirt that was a detailed weave and wrote “a must Zoom” in both title and description and it went for asking within a few days. ☺️
As a fiber person, don't use Woolite. It's awful stuff, and very harsh on wool. If you use a diluted version of Eucalan, it doesn't need to be washed out and is FAR gentler on woolens.
Something I’ve learned from experience is that most “vintage” suits are not desirable. Vintage Isaia, vintage Burberry, vintage Armani, vintage Zegna, vintage Ferragmo, etc…rarely do these sell for decent money. The Brioni was a good find though (as was the Isaia hanger)
Amazing haul! Funny, I always think someone must have died when I hit a gold vein, but now days, it's more likely someone has put on the covid-25lbs. Oxxford sometimes takes a long time to sell, but if you drop your price they will think something is wrong with it. Tide pen.spot cleaner is safe on wool and silk. I have ruined a ton of clothes learning, so keep that in mind when I say you CAN get wool wet if you have to. If the Tide pen doesn't work, there is a bar spot cleaner called Fels-Naptha (also at Wàlmart) that will take out just about any stain. Sometimes you have to rinse and repeat by holding the lining out of the way. Never use on silk unless you plan to get the entire garmet wet. Congratulations!!
I switched from a white to a gray background. The colors come out much more consistent , I dont change camera settings or edit them so it works out great for me. I really like your videos, Looks like youtube is picking you up keep making content my man!
Thanks Bryan. I've observed the same thing about the gray background. Almost impossible to make a white background actually look white in pics so might as well just go with it.
It would probable be worth it to dry clean any of those with stains. They sell something called wool and cashmere shampoo but I’ve only used it on sweaters
Don't feel ghoulish , now because of you his coveted collection will go to other people who really appreciate the pieces ,not just someone who pops in for a jacket because they have to go to court .
During garage sale season I don't do much clothing and I haven't picked up suits in awhile because most of them sit forever, take up a lot of space and returns suck but what an epic haul!
I second that. There are just some things as a reseller you can't clean yourself. You already said you have a good profit margin so don't skimp out getting it cleaned the right way. The dry cleaning receipt will help sell it.
Nice finds! Just started watching your videos this morning. I love that you don't have a lot of time-wasting fluff in your videos like I've seen in others. Thanks for getting to the point and for teaching me some things. I will buy you a coffee!
Suits are extremely overlooked by so many thrifters , I've turned over some incredible piece , Harris Tweed vintage Great find , you're content is great since I resell in men's category also.
Damn that’s Isaia. Great brand sadly unknown to many folks. They have nice polos and shirts. Loro Piana sits above many other more reputable brands. I’ve never came across one. Where’s this thrift store at again? Kidding. Great content as always
By the way, how much MPG Do you get and how does gas prices factor in with your haul? Do you think it's advantageous to have 30 MPG to the gallon if the vehicle is on the smaller size versus a bigger vehicle with only 20 MPG?
I love the leather buttons on the Johnny Carson blazer. I can imagine him wearing something like that. Do you think it might be from the 70's? Congrats on the great haul. Trish
Enjoyed watching your haul! Congrats on this one! Also, maybe we can think that this gentleman could afford to spend his retirement years on a tropical island somewhere & not need those suits. (I know you felt bad about the likelihood of his passing) so, let’s think that he is living his best life! Can’t wait to watch your video on what you made on this wonderful find. I just discovered you & I’m learning so much! Thank you for sharing.
Nice to come across all of these premier brands. Ironic they were found in a thrift store. Good luck in getting the maximum monetary potential because quality and rarity like this deserves it.
Just randomly commenting on a happy clickbait moment 👀 Great channel. Expertise and a chill personality 👍🏻 I’ve been binge watching all weekend. You’ve convinced me (wasn’t a hard sell) to get more into men’s wear as a category.
Awesome!! I have not had luck selling suits. Glad to hear you do. Have you ever tried selling on The Real Real? You may want to get a consult from them. They have a clientele base that would eat these up you just send them in and they sell for you. Saves the listing time. They would have a consultant Zoom call you to discuss before you send. Also, if they can't sell, they would send everything back to you at no charge. Just a thought. Amazing haul! Congrats.
Thanks for the suggestion. My understanding was that Real Real only does women's stuff. Hopefully that's not correct. Would love to be able to just mail some of this stuff off.
@@ThriftALife Thred Up does not sell men's, but the Real Real does. I just double checked and there are men's suits (and other things) on there. There is a men's category. The Real Real is known for high end designer only brands. They white globe treat their sellers (you) they will schedule an appointment with you via zoom to discuss your inventory so you can determine together what makes sense for you to send in. After you hit a certain level.of sales you get a larger % of take home. But they are able to reach a clientele that specifically buys high end like what you have and typically getting a better price than you would in eBay or Poshmark, and the best part is not having to list. Just suggesting, of course entirely your call. 😁
what a great haul....I'm also in an area that this type of info can be great as there is alot of untapped areas. thanks for sharing, love your excitement as I get the same way.
@@ThriftALife Thanks for being candid about the time (not quick flips) currently I have a whole room so I can utilize a small area for slower sales. I find a mix of both is really nice to have I have alot of quick flips.
@@kimduguid6105 I lean heavily towards the fast nickel over the slow dime. I've found that if you're willing to way underprice the market on spendier suits, jackets etc. you can turn them into quick(er) flips. Not 100% reliable though.
Congratulations on the haul! I love that Harris Tweed Blazer! And that Brioni! Do you have a cheap, but reputable dry cleaner that you can bring items to? I have a dry cleaner that I use for my thrift hauls and they charge $3.50 per piece for most items. They do an excellent job of getting stains out and the items come back in the perfect condition for shooting pictures. It would be a good option for the stained items in this haul.
This is one area of the thrift store I just avoid but I see I’m missing out on some high dollar flips. So how do you usually ship and photograph a suit??
I would go back and go through the rest of the men’s section and see if the guy donated any cashmere sweaters etc. I’m sure he must’ve donated more than suits. So exciting. Congratulations
this is a great tip. when I land on a find, I always say "where there's one there's two" and frequently I find a similar piece if not another of that same thing. It must be that when people donate they go through their entire closet and usually do not drive to goodwill with one shirt, sweater, etc.
Don't know if you already have, but think about going back and checking ties, belts, suspenders. Any man that will buy a Brioni cashmere blazer will most likely buy high $$$ assecories. Maybe even Vass shoes. Also, check out ebay solds on Brioni replacement buttons. If the jackets are bad, don't forget to check the buttons. I once paid 2$ for a Chanel sweater covered in moth holes, cut off the buttons and sold them for 45. Awesome haul, maybe I should get angry!
I just started following you. Im a Poshmark ambassador but I wanted to start selling Men's items, love your videos. You remind me of the Beatles don't know why 😅 Great videos.
Cool haul! I'd assumed nobody would be selling suits during the pandemic with all the Zooming going on. I've got a lot of stuff to list, but didn't think it was worth my time. My thrift stores never have suits. Most of junk that I find.
Thanks. Suit demand is definitely depressed. I've had the best luck flipping these for cheap, just undercutting the market. Honestly it's probably the best strategy regardless of pandemic.
Thrift sensei my guy glad you’re back. Would you mind posting a link to “thrift fever” the channel you shouted out? Can’t find them. Keep doing your thing #1 fan here
When you sell suiting that has been custom made or altered (as most men's suits are tailored), how do you size them? Take tailors' measurements? Congratulations on that haul! And don't feel badly about possibly profiting on someone's death - you will be rehoming the items to people who really appreciate them, and the thrift store wins, too!
I list the size listed in the jacket and also take a full suite of measurements of both the jacket and the pants. If they're clearly altered then disclose that in the description. And thanks, hopefully he didn't even die
I live near LAX and the GW’s and thrift shops doesn’t carry that much high end men’s stuff. I go downtown to find some interesting stuff that sells like the one in North Hollywood . Would you share which stores you go to if you don’t mind ? Thanks
New to channel just subscribed. I'm a full time reseller and appreciate ghe info as I do mostly clothes actually donated a load of suits that included a lot off the names you mentioned in this haul my reason for donating was the storing and shipping of suits was overwhelming as my house is already tubs with closets full how do you store and ship these imagine creases are frowned apon?
Hey, thanks for subscribing. I do store the nicer pieces on hangers in closets and on a freestanding rack. The cheaper stuff I fold and put in bins. Some creasing is expected with shipping but yeah, when you store in bins the creases are worse. My approach since this haul has been to price noticeably under market and try to get a quick but decently profitable flip out of them. It's hard not to be seduced by the allure of the huge payoff. Making $80 profit on a suit is acceptable money to me.
I learned a lot from this. I like that you show the tags but wish you would hold them a little longer as they're out of focus for part of the time. Sometimes the text on the bottom of the screen covers the tag so maybe you could hold it higher. You assume that we know these brands or that we can get it from your speech, but it would be helpful if you slowly spelled out the brand name. I mean if we miss it, the whole point of the video is lost.
A lot of thrift store fines are from people that have passed. I have come across a lot of multiples in clothing. And was my conclusion, it comes from people passing. Because you start thinking who tosses out nearly new stuff?
So, if you get a $150+ value suit, why wouldn't you take it to the Dry Cleaners....the buyer is going to want it already dry cleaned...added value and stain is gone????
Do you have a mannequin to use when you list your suits and jackets? I've been holding back on listing mine because I don't have one and was wondering how they sell without using a mannequin.
Yes, I do have one. I don't know that I'd go as far as to buy one just to list suits, though. And you should definitely list the suits. If everything else is in place with title, description, photos and price, the mannequin won't be important. The mannequin does make the photos look more professional but ultimately the quality of the actual photo (lighting, color matching, giving a sense for fabric texture) is more important. Plus price. I've been having great luck quick flipping these suits by pricing them way under market. Have sold a few for around the hundred dollar mark.

Trish
Thank you Trish
Enjoyed watching your haul! Congrats on this one! Also, maybe we can think that this gentleman could afford to spend his retirement years on a tropical island somewhere & not need those suits. (I know you felt bad about the likelihood of his passing) so, let’s think that he is living his best life! Can’t wait to watch your video on what you made on this wonderful find. I just discovered you & I’m learning so much! Thank you for sharing.
Hope he's out there wearing the Tommy Bahama shirts I don't buy.
Great haul, so happy for you and I like that viewpoint better than him passing away! Good point!! Positive energy always!!👍🏻
Congratulations on the awesome finds! This was the most enjoyable haul I’ve seen in awhile.
How do you ship the suits?
Congratulations 🎉🍾 great finds!
Thanks very much Dana.
Impressive....I just hope some day to even see some of these brands let alone find. So cool
Gray is a good neutral! Great video thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Kim. About half of those suits are still sitting on a rack here. Vintage suits sell more slowly than contemporary ones.
Thanks, my impression is that dry cleaning doesn't get out really deep stains. Maybe I'm wrong
I sell Harris Tweed on the East Coast. Can't keep them in stock. Always buy.
That jacket was the firs to sell.
This is one area of the thrift store I just avoid but I see I’m missing out on some high dollar flips. So how do you usually ship and photograph a suit??
how do you ship a suit
Wow!!! Excellent fines, thank you for sharing all the brands.
Haha, my dad made "a living" in his basement doing this while my mom worked her ass off to support two kids. He didn't support much
I would go back and go through the rest of the men’s section and see if the guy donated any cashmere sweaters etc. I’m sure he must’ve donated more than suits. So exciting. Congratulations
Thank you. I checked the rest of the racks, it was just the suits.
@@ThriftALife -In that case maybe he just retired from a business career, and not life.
this is a great tip. when I land on a find, I always say "where there's one there's two" and frequently I find a similar piece if not another of that same thing. It must be that when people donate they go through their entire closet and usually do not drive to goodwill with one shirt, sweater, etc.
Enjoyed! 👍🏻
Okay, I commented before seeing the entire group. Holy Hell...and Wow!
Yeah quite a haul. Some of it's still sitting. Suits are slow because of Covid. And yes, hope the guy didn't actually die.
@@ThriftALife lets say he lost weight and got a new one 👍
Don't know if you already have, but think about going back and checking ties, belts, suspenders. Any man that will buy a Brioni cashmere blazer will most likely buy high $$$ assecories. Maybe even Vass shoes. Also, check out ebay solds on Brioni replacement buttons. If the jackets are bad, don't forget to check the buttons. I once paid 2$ for a Chanel sweater covered in moth holes, cut off the buttons and sold them for 45. Awesome haul, maybe I should get angry!
Are you on IG as well?
I never even heard of that brand. Ty for that!!!
You should have put a jacket on with a dress shirt ... Has anyone seen you in one?
😊
I just started following you. Im a Poshmark ambassador but I wanted to start selling Men's items, love your videos. You remind me of the Beatles don't know why 😅 Great videos.
Oi dunno luv. Cheers.
I thought the same after I made an Asian haul,, it does get better,, think positive,
Great haul amazing 👏
Great haul.. can you do a follow up video on how many sold and what they sold for? thanks!
Not a bad idea, thanks Denise.
Yes I like that idea too. Can’t wait. I’m Cheering for you. Show me the money!!! 💵 LOL 😂
I found a Brioni suit but the tailored cut is really out of style. We'll see how it goes.
Consider pricing it relatively low to get a quick flip out of it
Thrift sensei my guy glad you’re back. Would you mind posting a link to “thrift fever” the channel you shouted out? Can’t find them. Keep doing your thing #1 fan here
Hey, sorry for the much belated response. I think he took his channel down. Really a shame.
It’s still out there, he just hasn’t been posting a lot. He is wealth of info, but has been changing his model. His old stuff is best
It looks like Thrift Fever is no longer on RUclips as of 8/2/21.
Yes, he unfortunately deactivated all his social media.
great Haul,! You are teaching me alot about menswear. What was the name of the site you learned about menswear again?????
A channel on here called Thrift Fever
When you sell suiting that has been custom made or altered (as most men's suits are tailored), how do you size them? Take tailors' measurements?
Congratulations on that haul! And don't feel badly about possibly profiting on someone's death - you will be rehoming the items to people who really appreciate them, and the thrift store wins, too!
I list the size listed in the jacket and also take a full suite of measurements of both the jacket and the pants. If they're clearly altered then disclose that in the description. And thanks, hopefully he didn't even die
OMG - that Burberry suit
Lol this is an old video.
Can you make a follow up video
Thanks for sharing and caring!
Likewise.
I love your shirt.
Thanks, me too. Favorite shirt.
Thanks
I live near LAX and the GW’s and thrift shops doesn’t carry that much high end men’s stuff. I go downtown to find some interesting stuff that sells like the one in North Hollywood . Would you share which stores you go to if you don’t mind ? Thanks
I don't live there anymore but literally every Goodwill was worth it. The Fairfax GW was my personal favorite.
@@ThriftALife thanks
Well done and well deserved on the great haul. Did you find anything in the pockets ??
Nothing interesting, unfortunately.
Wow!!! Great haul!!!
Thanks very much
I just sold a pair of Zegna blue jeans NWT for $140.00 - I paid $2.00 for them at the thrift store.
That is a SWEET flip. Congrats.
Good suggestions, thank you.
A lot of thrift store fines are from people that have passed. I have come across a lot of multiples in clothing. And was my conclusion, it comes from people passing. Because you start thinking who tosses out nearly new stuff?
The dead and the rich.
Given that you had no information as to comps for us to learn from, you had a brag video. Way to go.
Thx keep up the good work
Awesome thrift haul!
Thank you very much
Whoa!!! Awesome haul man.
Thanks Michael
So, if you get a $150+ value suit, why wouldn't you take it to the Dry Cleaners....the buyer is going to want it already dry cleaned...added value and stain is gone????
Would rather not go indoors anywhere right now.
Small point: you might note that suits and jackets are not "formal wear." Tuxedos and evening gowns are "formal wear."
Interesting, thanks
Awesome haul!!! What company makes the brand "code"?
Thanks. Not sure, haven't encountered it.
@@ThriftALife Brody, Duke or Mecca jeans ok? Silver is made where I live!
Not totally sure but I think their sellthrough is low.
@@ThriftALife thanks, appreciate the response!
Great haul!!! Keep it up!
