I realize you were speaking to men’s sell-through rates but I suspect at least some women’s categories are trending similarly. Hope I didn’t pay up too much! 🤞

Tommy Bahama is overrated! The silk shirt is aplenty! and there are knockoffs!! I only buy TB new w/ tags. Hilfiger needs to be cool again. He's not promoting his stuff. A lot of those brands are on AMZ, like Hilfiger. It's on AMZ and that to me indicates that the brand has lost its luster. It's equal to a mall brand. I agree with your list. I walk pass MK. I've sold Tommy Bahama shirts - those with great graphics sell, even though I've had to sit on a few for some time. Other TB is long long tail. Vineyard - T-shirts with large whale graphics sell pretty quickly for me. And I've got an Eton that's been listed for years. So... I agree with your evaluation. And at the thrifts here in the Phoenix area, Tommy Bahama is priced through the roof - along with Ralph Lauren, Perry Ellis, Calvin Klein and other formerly hot brands. The people who price these things at the thrifts seem to be stuck in a time warp.
Thomas Pink Dress Pants and Tommy Bahama anything has sold for me very well in my EBay career. But I agree with the Eton brand, I have one in my store currently and its just sitting. I also think that a lot of these brands have to do with your seller rating for it to sell for a decent price. But I love this video, definitely learned something.
Thanks Kailee. Don't get me wrong, I've sold a lot of Tommy Bahama myself. Thomas Pink, not nearly as much. I just like to be picky when I'm picking. Have had Bahama pieces sit in my inventory for obscene lengths of time before. Not all but some.
I’ve had absolutely awful luck on American Eagle anything. Picked some up when I first started thinking it was a nice brand and their sell through is abysmal on the things I picked out.
It will be interesting to revisit the list in a few months. I think we could start seeing some buying changes as people start to go back to the office and either want to freshen their wardrobe or discover that maybe not all of their work clothing fits quite like it did before a year of living in stretchy stuff. On the women's side I'm starting to see a bit of sales pick-up on career and "nicer" items.
Ha ha, some of your overrated brands are what I like to call the push button brands, ie: if I could walk into a thrift and push a button to make certain brands disappear it would make it SO much easier to look. Sold 3 pairs of jeans since I watched your last video, 1 Levis Baggy SIlverTab, 1 Levis 560 and Polo RL, all from checking the sell thrus. In fact today, I passed on some items I normally buy because of your advice. Picked up more Polo 867s, Levis 640 and Tommy Bahama Classic Fit Jeans. Put a white Masters polo back :-). Found a like new Cinch canvas coat and vintage Polo leather jacket, Filson shirt, good day today. Keep on with the vids, really digging them.
Ugh...wish I had watched this one day sooner! Just bought T.B. silk shirts, T.H. vtg and HARLEY-DAVIDSON button ups...hope they sell! Yes, J.Crew soooo slow to sell...appreciate the video and knowledge!
Thanks Beverly. You should have no problem with the Harley button-ups, those are good sellers. If you price the other stuff relatively low and/or promote the listings you should still be alright.
Salvation Army here in myrtle beach wanted $20 for a Harley Davidson shirt but they had some vintage 560s and silver tabs for $4.99 And I mean they had literally 2 pairs of Levi’s and they were a pair of sz 42 silvers and 560s
You have to Pick your spots with those brands. If you get an older J.Crew Workshirt, red or gray one with Selvedge, thats usually a 50$ sale, if you get the J.Crew Kaihara Jeans or the Jeans with Tags you do very well. Same with Vineyard Vines as well, really selective, Tommy Bahama can be profitable but it can also be really really slow. But the different fabrics are sought out after and the really good tommy B goes for very good money.
Wow. This is awesome. Spot on. Coincidentally sold my only Tommy Bahama silk shirt WHILE watching this. Lmao. BUT I was shocked. I only listed it because it was dirt cheap and I suck at finding mens clothes. It’s also been listed dor a few weeks. Exactly on HD. Sell the garage shirts in seconds for good money and meanwhile I have had an HD graphic Tee in my inventory for almost a year!

The Problem with the Nautica Vintage Stuff is Nautica did a remake of all their vintage stuff but more modern and about the same price the vintage stuff was going for, so the vintage Nautica market dropped off.
Harley stuff blows for me. I still like the tees, but most of it sits for a while. I found an America's Cup Vineyard Vines hat and got $100 for it! I sell quite a few Masters polos at a good price. PFG is the ONLY sub brand of Columbia that sells well. There are so many TNF fakes out there I quite picking them up.
Thanks for the info...For what it's worth I would like to share some effects of Covid on street style in Chicago. My daughter and her sig other who is a film maker and she is a social worker working on her masters living in the heart of downtown. They request certain things from me in the clothes department.... I will share...J Crew may be over saturated but in Chicago Lucky and J Crew closed it's doors over night....Shocking...Stock was sooo limited to remaining stores...Supply and demand....This sent a ripple effect and now all guys covet J Crew and Lucky. LL Bean made a strong come back and so did Addidas, Car hart, North face and No tuck shirts are huge. Khakis (old school style) as well as corduroy. Simple nice black hoodies are nice to wear under Levi's jackets with fur fleece collars. Guys are moving away from skinny tight jeans and heading toward a fitted style old school type of denim. Hope it helps...
It's surprising how some brands just completely drop off in price once saturated on eBay. I just can't get over how some of the expensive brands can't hold a decent resale price like Eton as mentioned, Zegna, Canali, etc. Shirts from these brands are $250-450 new and have a tough time selling for $25 sometimes not to mention sitting on them for awhile. I started reselling with clothing but I try to avoid it during garage sale season then get stuck buying more during the winter. I burnt out on clothing, it sits too long and takes up too much space but certain niches of clothing I still like.
I hate sitting on clothing too. It is indeed nuts how big the gap between retail and used prices on dress shirts are. I think dress shirts depreciate in value quicker than most other categories of clothing.
I'll never understand the Michael Kors stores in the mall. His stuff is horrible and always has been. I'm always looking for Men's Vinyard Vines lacrosse t-shirts.
I find tons of Harley because I live in Milwaukee. Any actual riding gear is money, like gloves or riding boots. I sold a riding hoodie for a good amount recently. You can tell if it’s riding instead of fashion based on sleeve length. And of course like he said, bigger sized and button shirts are good.
I wouldn't touch a bunch of this at goodwill, but only a couple I would skip at the bins. If you want to sell junk brands you better be able to list cheapest.
J crew is good to get if its for yourself as it's good quality. too bad others dont want it... but the larger sizes sell well. pay 8 sell for 16 all day. not the profit you want I know but it will sell if merino
Everything depends on the actual item ie style condition rarity not just the brand name ..I was a full time clothes seller on eBay for nearly ten years .way before smart phones and google .it was a wild ride you could name your own prices back in those days ...Product knowledge was everything back then now everyones an expert thanks to you tube and google ...lol
Must have been the wild west, I'm jealous. Style, condition and rarity are absolutely important considerations. I don't want to give the impression that brand is the only important variable. I do think it's the most important one, though.

If you looked the same items up with sale price below 30 then what is the sell through? Well just ran son numbers on Tommy Bahamas with this theory. Not much better than you stated. 2xL under $20 is 45% sell rate
Vineyard vines are a sell out brand. Cranking out China made low quality shirts by the shipload. It will soon fall fast.
Couldn't find the link for your buying guide.
I tried purchasing your manifesto and there is some glitch saying my zip code isn’t part of this country. Haha I’ve done it 3 times. Any other way to purchase the list? Thanks
Does it happen when you buy it for $0? Try that if you haven't. Don't worry about paying
I've sold the big flag Tommy hilfiger jeans and vintage denim shorts. They usually sell overseas.
Tommy pants and Shorts are the only items that I have had luck with
The Problem with the Nautica Vintage Stuff is Nautica did a remake of all their vintage stuff but more modern and about the same price the vintage stuff was going for, so the vintage Nautica market dropped off.
Bought you a coffee a few days ago and got the list. Such a handy thing to have. Thanks for what you're doing.👍🙏
Thanks Liana, really appreciate that.
I love tommy Bahamas jeans. Fast sellers, rest is super limited.
I do well with Birddogs - Men's shorts/pants/bathing suits - was on Shark Tank and took off
Steve O in a Port a potty haha Nice analogy
Another exceptional Video thanks Matt
Thanks Mary.
Great video as usual mate!!
Thanks thanks
Thanks for the tips
Just started I picked up a Eton shirt sold in a day
It's surprising how some brands just completely drop off in price once saturated on eBay.
Harley Davidson their Leather Jackets Do Really Well 100-250+ and their Bike performance Wear as well
I find tons of Harley because I live in Milwaukee. Any actual riding gear is money, like gloves or riding boots.
I sold a riding hoodie for a good amount recently. You can tell if it’s riding instead of fashion based on sleeve length.
And of course like he said, bigger sized and button shirts are good.
Interesting regarding the sleeves. Riding sleeves are longer? Shorter?
I bought a Michael Kors polo shirt when I first started reselling two years ago.
I still have that goddamn shirt.
🤦🏼♂️
Great videos!
Another great info video.
Sold a pair of Harley Jeans this last weekend!
Guess overalls have 130% sell thru and vintage guess overalls are 200%+ just to chime in!
I believe it. Thanks for the tip. There's always a surprise lurking somewhere in these brands.
You are SO entertaining to listen to. Love your constant creative use of language... makes every video a hoot
Good stuff.thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching
100% Harley-Davidson sell through for me so far. Everything I have bought has sold & fast. Mens and Womens. Avoid personalized city Harley stuff.
Great video, thanks.
Nat Nast Limited Edition shirts actually do really well
"Two things I love the most, quick flips and lots of money" touche
