One of the things I forgot to mention is as faster car Im always on the brake ready if Im going for inside of slower class - always anticipating that slower car will close the doors not seeing me so I can smash the brake even more :)
I just behave exactly like they do on TV. I treat it like it's actually my team's car, millions invested. And lives on track. I just pretend it's real, even though it's a game..it's helped me massively.
one of the main issues i see with multiclass is the faster class of cars tend to think they are more important than the slower class. this results in the faster class expecting the slower class to get out there way and see him as a annoyance that should not be there. people need to stop this mindset and remember everyone is equal when on track and respect will end up in a clean race
Love LFM implemented Multi Class Racing in AC. The LMh & LMPs were treating us GT3s today very nice. Besides it was first day on Sebring I didn't got bumped once. I also use indicators when I want to get passed. Helps alot when driving off season the GT4s in GT3 Multiclass on ACC
I agree that alot of people think they are more important however i also think some people get lost in racing and think that the gt3 or gt 4 thats slower that they are coming up on needs to be passed because they are alot slower than the gt3 or gt2 they are in and can cost them easily 6 or more seconds and hell even i have that issue because sometimes your down and are likw if i get past this guy i can get back in my race and make up positions
As an ACC race steward in one of the communities; Yes, what Jardier is bringing up is important, and are things we keep in mind when making judgements on incidents. Is the slower car keeping to their line? Are they able to take any other line? Is the faster car being impatient? Are they barging their way through? Is either of them keeping track of the other car during the pass? Radar, call-outs, etc? Most of all, remember that all involved cars will lose some time. But it's better to lose a little time than have an incident and maybe end up with several minutes of repairs, and potential penalties.
I think the most imporant points in Mutli-class racing are: You WILL lose time, the best you can do is figure out how to pass and be passed that loses you the LEAST amount of time. And also your pinned comment, about ALWAYS being ready to brake and back out of a gap when you're the faster car
Great video Jardier, I enjoy driving the GT4's. Even thou I know to stay on my racing line I always get nervous when a faster GT3 is approaching and usually I head for the Grass to try and get completely out of the way Then end up crashing myself out
Being predictable is honestly the most important thing. As the slower car, stick to the Racing line until the faster car makes the move, then try to give it enough space whithout sacrificing your line. You can show the faster car where you want them to pass you by blocking off the other side. This way you will already know, where they are passing you even before they do it. As the faster car, make it clear, when making a move. Pull out to one side and stick to that side. Use the flasher if possible, to A. let the slower car know you're there and B. signal them that you are about to pass them. I usually for the inside line, if I can get alongside before turn-in. If not, I leave enough of a gap to be as early on the throttle as possible make the pass on the exit and loose as little speed as possible on the following acceleration zone. ONLY go for the outside line, if you KNOW for sure, that the slower car does not need the whole width of the track and there is going to be enough room for you. If not, then WAIT and do the 'good old switcharoo'. Why do I prefer the inside move over the outside? Because it's easier for the slower car to open up their turning radius than closing it when already in the corner. Driving the slower car also means being slower in adapting your line. Also what I would recommend, if you're in the faster car and approach a group of slower cars who are fighting - try to pass them on the straights. Same goes for a slower car that is caught by a group of faster cars - try to let them by on a straight if possible. Why? Because racing really happens in the corners. That's where you set up your moves both for passing and defending. Also it's easier to avoid a sudden move of another car on a straight than in a corner.
To be honest this doesn't just apply to multiclass. I often find myself in a race in ACC where I've qualified and a lot of much faster drivers joined late and are at the back. The number of fast drivers that seem to expect me to act like there's blue flags when we're racing for position is unbelievable sometimes. Yeah I'm going to defend, I know I'm going to lose time to the car in front, but I probably won't catch them anyway, so I'm trying to hold onto as many positions as I can.
I feel the same way but I often end up crashing either because I'm over defending my position or the car behind just bomb dives me the first opportunity they see, I need to get my ratings up asap
If you are defending since the middle of a race and you know the car behind is 1 to 2 sec faster per lap it will nearly 100% end in a crash. I prefer to let faster drivers through and then follow them as long as I can to see their lines. But if I am on the last lap it s clear that I will defend !
Hi Jards... Well said... This has been my beef for a couple of years now... I'm a slower driver, no matter how hard I try! But when I'm a blue flag, I always give way to faster runners! Why do faster runners nearly always try to pass in a chi-cane, or a tight 90* bend? They flash you aggressively, and sometimes clip you just enough to throw you off the track... If only they would wait a few seconds, so that you can then allow them to pass! Then, I get in the chat... "Why did you brake check me you moron?" It's, not that I brake checked you, you arrived into the corner so fast, you think I brake checked you! You were driving without any regard to other runners on the track! My SA, is around 94, so I can't be that bad of a driver! The only time my SA goes down is usually when I'm hit at the back from a faster runner! Or, when someone dive bombs the corner! This frustrating, when it's taken me quite a while to build up to an SA of around 94... I hope, some of the faster runners read this, and take note, and try not to bully there way through! Frank...
Also using indicators can help a lot. E.g. when im in a GT4 about to get lapped I indicate where I'm going to avoid any confusion. Like in a left turn I'll indicate left to tell the GT3 behind that I will hug the inner curb on exit
Love these new tutorial style videos! - As someone who just recently tried multiclass racing in ACC, I really needed some kinda of "go to" and am I doing it right, which this have both confirmed and unconfirmed for me, Keep up the great work! Massively appreciated
If you're in a fast car, keep in mind that even if the slow car checked their mirrors, it's not always enough, especially entering a corner. You may not be in their mirror, yet, or you're just a spec. They can't look in their mirror while their spotting the apex and exit, so if you dive bomb them, it's not their fault that they don't see you.
Great video Jard!!! I think it would also be interesting to mention that sometimes slower cars take defensive lines when a faster car approaches them in crucial situations, like a battle for position, chicanes, technical sections of the track, etc. It is a great way to show their intentions to the other drivers, like: hey, you have a 10 second lead, just wait a couple of turns and then I’ll let you through. What do you think? :)
Endurance Multi Class Racing (EMCR) is the only racing I do. Even when firing up AC it's something like Petit Leman at Road Atlanta. That element with other classes is hard to quantify but you did a good job here mate. N24 - SPA24 - LeMan and all the WEC/IMSA races are about the only racing I watch or patriciate in now. ENDURANCE FOR LIFE. Kevin Estre's blood runs deep in these veins lol.
Hey Jardier, I must say I am really loving these new videos that you are doing. You made some really good points with solid advice. Keep it up!!!!!!! Lets hope this is the year you hit 100k!!!!!!!!!!!!!
after 100 hours driven in acc i have seen and done all the mistakes i can in this sim i feel.. but there are allways new things to learn!! i really enjoy you vids!! cheers!!
I'm really surprised that you don't have more subscribers Jardier , you do a top job and above all, you're a nice guy to boot ;) guaranteed laughter here hehehe...
I love these tip videos, I'm still REALLY new to ACC and honestly, I feel like I don't have the skill to race online, so these kinda help me expand my knowledge until I have the skill to race online lol
As a gt4 racer I try and let the faster class go with no problems the quickest as possible. Normally I will yield on the straight and maybe brake earlier going into a corner to avoid any drama. Don’t want to be that guy who ruins someone’s race due to traffic because we all know that feeling😂
Nice vid! Maybe you could do a related one on blue flags, and the guidance around yielding? As it would apply to both GT4s and GT3s :) also, if I’m slower and on a straight, I sometimes like to indicate my intentions with the indicators!
Great video as usual. I'd also add as a slower car keep your normal lines and don't try to be helpful by slowing down more than needed on entry or even worse on exit.
Thanks for this vid Jards! Main thing I learnt is that I need to be more predictable as slower car and hope the faster cars are patient :D You did however forget to mention that no matter what class you are in or how slow you are, you ALWAYS need to block car #87 😂
A GT4 car can take you out just as easily as a GT3. Either way you are done. Be respectful and safe. I remember watching a 12 hour IRL GT3/GT4 race when a GT4 car was going wide at Daytona to allow the race leader to pass. The GT3 race leader decided to go wide too and ended up getting pinched between the GT4 and the wall, with 10 min left in the race. If the GT3 had taken the time and indicated where he was going or slowed down for a split second to see what the GT4 was doing he would have easily won the race since he was a lap up on P2. The GT3 didn’t leave himself any options. It reminds me that the more options you leave yourself the more likely you will finish the race.
What are your thoughts on light flashing and indicating Jards? Also, it’s always worth having a spotter enabled in iRacing and there’s a lot of tools you can get to see when cars are close/beside/past
Really hope we see the Nurb combined with VLN and 24h track... Cuz with new porsche cup, new ST, GT3s, GT4s, bmw cup it would be awesome to get those races.... unfortunately it wont happen :'(
Shame cuz iRacing, as nice as it is, limit the number of car on track and type of car too much :'( Acc with Pcup (old and new), GT3, GT4, BMW 2xxi cup they all race on nurb for VLN and 24H. And i would looooove that. Men... i would do all nurb endurances :p (allready do on iracing tho ^^ )
Great vid Jardier, like most people I'm new to racing and the tips help. I prefer dirving slow cars so I'm usually in GT4 in ACC, what is the best way to use my indicators? Do I use them to tell others which side of the track I'm going to pull to to let them pass, or do I use them to indicate which side to pass me on?

But because they are so complete dogshit at managing traffic, they often lose 2-3 seconds every 2 laps. I place so much higher in Multiclass races then in normal "sprint" races because of it. Add a team component to Long endurance racing, and it gets even better, i might not be the fastest guy on the team, but i've NEVER been the teammate that binned a teamcar (yet.... daytona is comming :P) and usually will gain some time or spots in my stints.
During a start, the car in front of me didn't go. I was tempted to go around, but I saw in my mirrors that the cars behind had already moved next to me. The cars going around me caused a crash with the cars next and in front of them. Then the car in front of me decided to go...crazy! Did I do the right thing by not moving, becuase it wasn't clear or should I have went around since the cars behind me were thinking I was going to go around?
Really hard situation would need to see it. But if you were boxed in you did good job by staying behind. Others apparently didnt pay same attention as you :(
