Mine always seemed to feed pretty well... now it feeds like a dream! This is definitely one of the most overlooked and amazingly simple fixes. Can't believe the difference this makes. Thanks for the video, I would have never done this tune up 🙂👍
Hey thanks for the Vid. I have a Izhevsk M44 from the dark days in 43, you can tell everything on it was rushed and simplified, but it still shoots great. It would not feed strippers at all! In fact if you pushed it would try to ram the entire clip and ammo down inside whole. I tried these methods to smooth it up and also discovered an additional feed problem: the slots and surrounding area for the clip were too small and narrow. An empty clip fit loose, a full clip fit just snug, but if you tried to load it would hang up, squishing and binding the rounds too tightly inside the clip thus not allowing them to pass regardless of how much I smoothed the areas you showed. So I just went ahead cautiously and slowly removing material from those two protruding areas and the slots with the Dremel grinder and polishing/buffing heads. Now it feeds like a dream, no need for even stacked rounds or tipping the top one, it doesn't matter if they are jumbled, they just thumb press in. Thanks for the help.
Wow, I think I've tried every fix for this problem on youtube, then tried coming up with my own solution after trying to find the cause. Couldn't get the rounds to hardly load with an elephant on top. I was close to this idea, but I was only filing down inside the top portion that holds the clip in place. I gave up for a bit, then revisited the idea tonight. Thank you for posting!
Fantastic! Awesome find and video for the fix. I am going to try this on all my mosins.

Add me to the long list of people that said *Thank You* brother! I just completed my 28 Izhevsk striper clip fine tune job. I hit the top of the mag box too! I used only some Emery cloth, a ball point pin and some motor oil to finish out. the different is a life saver. it was impossible, now it feeds like a champ. _#YourAMosinGod_
Very good! Glad it will help you out. This is why I spent the time to post this up. I would be willing to bet it is the reason for your rimlock like you say. Feed problems can be a real pain. Once you get it solved it will feed like a dream. Just take your time do it nice and a good job. Have fun out there shooting!
hey bud:) Excellent video with clear instructions. I also have a tula (1933 hex) and it was pretty stiff to feed rounds. After much polishing, bending (2 curse words) and just a bit of material removal it now feeds very easy...but not too easy. Im currently looking for stripper clips on ebay. I'm gonna get some "original" clips along with some of the newer ones just to see if they feed as advertised after the fix. Thank you so much for your awsome video:)
Awesome video, thank you so much, I think I have the same problem with mine hard to load last round from the clip and then hard to push bolt to load it into chamber.
I just did my two mosins, with this, even with the chinese clips, works like a dream, and its so easy to do, also its a great way to get more cosmoline out, that stuff is amazing, I have put at least 20 hours in to each gun removing cosmoline with mineral spirits and boiling water and Mothers mag wheel polish. This is a great fix thanx again.
Any issues with the magazine interrupter not keeping the rounds clear of the loading round once you relieved the spring tension? That bottom piece on the spring prevents the rounds in the magazine from rim locking the round being placed into chamber.
The problem with my M44 is that the receiver is too tight where the strippers fit in so it squeezes the stripper onto the cases making them nearly impossible to push from the stripper. If I only push the stripper about half way in it's better, but still hard. I've been messing with it today and not seeing anything that looks damaged or modified. The strippers are milsurp, headstamp is 188 E so 1954 russian. I think I had some different surplus strippers that worked better, I'll have to dig through my stuff and see if they're any different in design. If you have any suggestions I'm all ears.
Most just stiff. I tried everything in this video and it did get slight softer when before it was all impossible. Is it possible to make the crescent too deep?
Im finding that it is the clips. I got a pack of that 1945-46 surplus ammo on stripper clips and fed everyone through. Some were very easy, some impossible,
Could it be the clip guide being too narrow? ive done this and when i have rounds in the clip they get wedged before even making to the magazine top, before the extractor.like really tight two hands to pull it back out tight.
Thanks. Gonna do this on my 1942 Ishvysk. So I noticed you were just loading the rounds in the clip not too worried about rim lock. This would fix rim lock? It's a pain to have to load the rifle in a super specific way.
I found the best way to get stripper clips to feed with the Mosin, get combloc stripper clips instead of that cheap newly made trash that's not worth the effort.
You could have made this video only 10 min instead of 30 mins. You tend to repeat things too much and that eats up time. Good info just a dull delivery.
The stock on that rifle looks awesome.

Thank you so much from France, now my Mosin loads like a dream, thanks to you ! Merci 👍
One of the best Mosin improvement videos I've ever seen. Thanks!
My Mosins are some of my favorite guns to fire, but also my least favorite ones to load. Going to try this! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
The best fix I've seen .

Thanks for the REAL fix. There is a lot of stupid crap out there but this puts the lie to many.

This did make loading with striper clips nice, but have been fighting with rim over lap and failure to feed, driving me crazy. Help!

Outstanding !!
Great vid, thanks!

very well done thank you :)
Thank you so much
Thanks for the vid very educational

That exact same thing has happened to me as well! It's a real pain in the ass.
Your awesome!!!!

I cant even get my clips to go into the grooves, with or without rounds in them.

great vid thanks
Can’t really see what you are doing
Please take that pouch off the stock, its not historically accurate :(
