This absolute beast benches more than most people after a .50 cal exploded point blank in his face. Scott might be the most dangerous man on either side of the Mississippi
6:58 If you're wondering why, you have to remember the 4-bore was designed as a black powder cartridge and modern rounds are loaded to mimic the pressure created by that black powder charge. The .950 JDJ was designed for smokeless powder, which is _three times_ more potent than black powder.
Smokeless powders are so energetic that even loads of equivalent power are unsafe in the same guns. The typical .45 colt cartridge in the 19th century was identical in power to .45 ACP, but .45 ACP is noticeably higher in pressure.
I mean yes and no. It’s kept within safe parameters for the chamber and cartridge, but it’s definitely about twice as hot as turn of the century black powder 4 bore
@@nextcaesargaming5469 .45 ACP case is much shorter so equal power loads will produce much more pressure. But the thing is, you need a LOT of black powder to get power and NO air space inside the casing, while with smokeless powders you load few grains and the free space inside the casing doesn't matter.
@@me.ne.frego. This is true, and my point is much better illustrated by comparing apples to apples; .45 Colt with black powder and .45 Colt with smokeless powder. Even if both are loaded to achieve roughly 830 to 850 fps with a 240 grain bullet, the smokeless one will be unsafe to shoot in an old SAA. A modern SAA replica will eat smokeless cartridges for breakfast because of better metallurgy, but not a older generation revolver; it will eventually grenade itself.
That 950 was fun, but the best part of the video for me was you aknowledging the mental trauma of your accident and telling us how you choose to face that dread of uncertainty when shooting head on. That's brave. I'm really glad for you, and your physical and mental recovery.
I love this comment. I have my own mental demons as a result of several traumatic experiences. I can empathise about the 50 cal kaboom. Well done Scott for coming to terms with it.
As someone who was born and raised in south eastern Ohio just 20 minutes from the lovely Ohio river this man is the definition of “corn fed good ole boy” if you know, you know
I'm a physician and I still get uneasy when Scott talks about his .50 BMG accident. It's a miracle you are still here with us!!! Love the comeback and this is an amazing way to celebrate 3 years. Congratulations!!!!!
Fellow Physician here as well. It is absolutely mind blowing the genuine physical atrocity his body suffered. It is wild how he didn’t pop a clot or embolism in any way. Makes an awesome case study. And yes, congrats on 3 years, Scott. Super stoked you’re here with us, still going strong.
There were 3 of those built. One weighs over 100 pounds, one weighs 76 pounds, and then there's Scott, who got the super light weight one at 56 pounds because... more recoil.
I can’t speak on it well, as I could only find one mention but one of those 3 ended up selling for $99,875 at auction. Crazy rare and quite a pretty penny lol
I believe it's truly amazing how he powers through that recoil. A 13 year old would most likely blow out their entire shoulder section if they tried that.
Can we just take a minute and appreciate Scott for not only overcoming his injury but outright conquering what did it to him. It was weird rifles and rounds that nearly killed him, and here he is firing the biggest and baddest of them all and geeking out instead of freaking out. Hearing the pure excitement out of Scott’s voice when he fired the .950 JDJ proves that he doesn’t just enjoy making the videos, but he enjoys making the content the videos are focused on. which I think is something that many RUclipsrs don’t have, and wish they did.
Things I'd like to see the JDJ shoot: 1) If a zombie was standing behind a grizzly bear, shoot both? 2) how many clear ballistic gel can it go through 3) body armor on a zombie torso? That energy transfer would be wicked 4) as someone else said, can it split a log of firewood if it hit the log length wise in the middle?
To be fair that is am impressive list of ideas all of which I agree with!!!! However, you forgot to mention an engine block 350 V8+ would be great but any nice old big block would be fun to see what it does to them!!!!
1) so long as it doesn't deflect through the grizzly, yeah probably. 2) not too many since it always seems to deflect. Imma say 5. 3) what zombie torso? All I see is a green cloud. ;) 4) into a thousand pieces, yes. Sry muchness lol.
There is no one on earth more deserving of the rifle and the honor of reintroducing it to the world. Outside of the rock island footage, there's no other place to see this behemoth in action. Congratulations, Scott! Well deserved!
The 950 JDJ could not have found a better home. We're all happy for you Scott. Your subscribers may have help you reach this point, but remember it's your hard work and great videos that keep us. Enjoy everything you have because you worked very hard to get here. Thank you for taking us on the ride with you.
"Sporting Rifle" - When your sport is shooting damn meteors out of the air. Happy 3 year anniversary. That accident brought me to your channel and I genuinely feel such joy when I see you've uploaded. I'm so glad you are still here and I maintain that you have Xmen grade healing abilities.
yeah i really want to see what this does to something like a human because "sporting"? sure if you want to completely eviscerate your prey. the energy transfer is insane. anything filled with liquid is just going to pop like a balloon.
How this monster was invented: The inventors were out walking one of them said "hey do you see that cannon there?" the other "Oh yeah let's screw a pistol grip on it"
Couple ideas for the JDJ: How many safes can it shoot through How many fridges can stop it Can a tank stop it How many block of gel can it shoot through Can it split a log in half How many level 5 plates can stop it How many cast iron pans can stop it Can you spin it on ice Lastly, who can shoot more rounds without tapping out? (Ft donut operator or brandon hererra)
2:13 i am so glad for that Scott, and for your family because y'all are TERIFIC PEOPLE and it's an honor to share a planet with ya!! GOD BLESS YOU AND EVERYONE YA KNOW
He did create a monster. I had a 375 JDJ Contender back in the day. He also made the 300 Whisper, that ended up being the basis for the now popular 300 BlackOut. As soon as I seen Scott had one I knew he was in a world of hurt, see the very few kids of one being fired years ago and it's no joke.
YOOOO HE ACTUALLY DID IT!!!! I have been commenting about this rifle since the very first elephant rifle Scott put on the channel literally every video and the fact that he was so quiet about it all the time made me think he’s been working on it for a long time. You have reached the stars, my friend you are 100% the king of recoil with zero competition. Thank you for everything you do on your channel for us viewers.
@@dragonsban3327 I'll give it to Scott, the Double Deuce Ian shot was a 40-50k shotgun that he didn't own. And Ian quick shouldered it and fired it, it weighs about 50 pounds.
@myadhdSquirel 950 jdj is like the epitome of a meme round. Literally just a cut back 20mm case, absolutely no practical application The case is cut back but it's 2x the energy of 50 bmg
So I watch this channel specifically with my 8 year old son. He’s super interested in guns in general and while I love many gun tubers I do love that he and I can watch this cuz it is genuinely a kid friendly option for this type of content. Also, frankly, the boy loves seeing shoulder mounted artillery. So Scott thank you for your time, content, and sacrificing your shoulder for our enjoyment. Really glad you’re still here bud.
Loving your comeback attitude on your anniversary Scott. Going through that with you as a long term subscriber was nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster but you bossed it like everything you do. I’m so glad your dad was there with you to get you to A&E as fast as possible. That rifle is insane by the way, a row of pumpkins or zombie torsos with all ultra slow-mo camera would be very fitting. Much love and respect from across the pond 🇬🇧🇺🇸
That intro is why I'm subbed to you. A perfect example of how resilient people can be. You stared death in the face, and came out even better. Hats off to you, man.
Of all the things that surprise me about you shooting these monster rifles as often as you do, what is absolutely astonishing to me is you don’t flinch or anticipate the recoil at all. Just totally calm, both eyes open and loose. As a (former) competitive shooter I’m beyond impressed. It took me years of training to be able to shoot a 308 out of a 12lb rifle and consistently just let it happen without anticipating the recoil and noise. Even now, 4-5 rounds from a hunting weight 300 win mag and I’m flinching like a complete novice. The win mag might be 30lbs of recoil? Amateur numbers I know. You’re an absolute unit to know it’s coming and just let it happen anyway. Hats off to you sir.
It is impressive, though he's also huge. Its the sound more than recoil I think that people recoil from. Grandad used to load our guns with our own loads. Well, as we shot, 1 shell wouldn't have any powder,, and we would recoil when pulling the trigger. That got us a verbal wholloping for being so weak and gun shy that we recoil when there wasn't a sound. It taught us better shooting discipline.
Scott, your resilience in returning from your injury is inspiring. As a trauma radiologist, I know what your body endured. And, I know what you endured mentally. If you happen to see this comment, just know that you are inspiring. Also, pretty darn awesome you got that rifle. You're the only one who could show us what it's like. The felt recoil is twice my bodyweight. 😮
Stumbled on one of your videos last night and this one popped up this morning. Very entertaining but hearing your story gets an instant sub from me. You seem like a good dude and glad you’ re still around to have fun and inspire!
You are an inspiration to me, I had open heart surgery 6 months ago and had my sternum and collar bone sawed open as well. I'm 61 and frankly it still hurts me, but you have inspired me to push through the pain.
I can't think of another RUclipsr who regularly goes to these extremes in the name of entertainment (and a little education, to be sure). I also cannot recall another RUclipsr who undergoes more physical torment while doing this. Bless your heart, Scott. You deserve every happiness in the future.
This is actually crazy. Not only does Scott have the most comedic channel, he also brings the most exotic guns I have ever seen. Get this man to 10 mil!
Considering there were only ever 3 of these things ever produced I'm shocked he even managed to find one let alone get his hands on one unless someone let him barrow it.
@@SilvaDreamsNo, it's his. I don't know how much a .950 jdj can actually go for, considering how rare they are, but I saw some other comments saying they could go for over 90k-100k
I praise you. It takes some courage to continue your journey after such a catastrophic accident. I could not imagine going thru what you went thru. God bless and thank you for what you do.
I did not expect someone like you obtaining, owning, and firing off one of the three massively-powerful Fat Mac rifles ever made. You've my respect, Scott.
You may not have seen my comment on the original video of your accident. But it happened on my 22nd birthday. It was a very tragic thing to hear about on such a special day for me. I turn 25 today, and on the same day my mom turns 48. Your neck scar turns 3. So glad you're still with us, and making great content for us. Thank you also for posting this on my birthday. Lovely little gift for me.
I love you Kentucky! It breaks my heart being reminded and knowing that your always thinking about it, all I can say is that God has blessed you and performed a true miracle, bc of how you survived, it’s truly a blessing your here still! Take care of yourself bro ❤️
Absolutely delighted to see you still kicking strong 3 years later. My chest scar starts to itch anytime I notice your own or you mentiom the accident. Truly some light in this world you stayed with us and I am so glad you're stronger than ever, let nothing bring you down!!
Wow three years already, thankful that you didn’t stop the channel or give up. You’re a legend Scott, follower since before the accident and always respect the hell out of you man. From one guy who’s died and been brought back to another glad your still with us!!!!
Been watching you for a long time now, and I gotta say, after I learned of your accident with your .50 BMG, and of you actually SURVIVING it, has only increased my respect for you. That 950 JDJ, do. Be. Kickin'! HARD! I do own a 12 gauge shotgun, and even though I haven't shot it in a while, the kick of my shotgun, is nothing compared to the 950. No comparison needed.
Im actually really suprized you diddnt shoot it from the shoulder you know you gotta give that a try . Also when you did hold it while standing for a sec i thought you were gunna do the ol annie oakley mirror shot 😂 can you imagin how badass that would be lmao
I think it's pretty safe to say that everyone that watches your videos is extremely happy you made it through your accident, let alone came out stronger because of it. One person is much happier than the rest of though......your chiropractor!!!! Holy crap Scott!!! I can't believe your shoulder was intact after firing that 3 times!!!! Great to have you making us laugh and smile every video you make. To many more years!!
I'm sorry for Scott's misfortune, and glad for his recovery, but anyone who is a father will understand how many times his soul burned to the ground while driving his son to the hospital.
@goodday126 I think you took my comment wrong, I was trying to be funny in that instance. I am a father of a dead child, so I know exactly what his father was feeling on that drive. Don't think for a second I don't. Like Scott, I was trying to make people laugh.
1. The bluing on that barrel is freaking perfection. 2. I always knew this day was coming. I didn’t know if you COULD get your hands on a .950 JDJ, but I knew for sure that you were trying. Glad to see it happen.
Happy you made it man your a real trooper for sure and god definitely wasn't ready for you and you still got more work to do and more gun vids to put out i can't even imagine having all that wrong with me and still keep calm and making it to the hospital and let alone every wanting to shoot a gun again but super glad you are still here the world would have been a worse place with out you here i remember when i first heard about it man and you telling the story i keep you in my prayers know and any time i thinking or watching you shoot big high power guns and people its important to know what you're gun it capable of shooting up to far as pressure size and where it Max's and never over load it or go higher with speed or pressure great than its rating and if so use some type of safe setup like a bunch and long string and of course something to hide behind thanks and may god be with you all
i just want to say that, the accident that happened 3 years ago, they of course left scars. but here you are, still soldiering on and making incredibly entertaining and educational content like you never even had that accident, and i have to say, the mental strength it takes to do that isnt exactly something to scoff at! thank you for being such an incredible content creator. you have a heart of gold, and shoulders strong enough to carry those memories and scars onwards to a bright future filled with great content, educational information about firearms and ballistics and most importantly, strong enough to tank any recoil that comes your way, as you were'nt nicknamed the Recoil King for no reason! here's to an amazing future with and for you Scott! CHEERS!
To recover how you did, become stronger and STILL continue to shoot ANYTHING ! Shows the resilience and strength we all are capable of and may not know it. Thanks Scott
Glad to hear that you're doing well that was an insane injury that you went through. Glad you're still around and the world still got you in it because it's a better place with you stay safe!
9:58 It amazing to see the gun twist from the round exerting force on it from the rifling as it goes through. That round has a ton of intertia. holy hell.
Such a nice channel, the way you make videos. No blasphemy, no punching down, no crass humour, no grandstanding (not even swearing, not a problem if you did but even more pleasant that you don't). Just someone who has a fun hobby wanting to share it with the rest of the world, and speaking up on things like with mental health. Hope you keep riding the lightning for many more years to come, I may not be able to have guns myself but you're a great voice of the firearm community.
After what you endured after the .50 mishap, you are a huge inspiration to me in my life. I have had to endure 4 spinal surgeries on my neck and back the most recent on February 1st of this year. When it all began I didn’t think I’d ever walk again but now I am. Thank you for showing me me the way and giving me me hope and inspiration to keep fighting
Back surgery is no joke. Mine almost killed me. I lost a lot of blood, 4. 5 liters, went into shock and cardiac arrest. Here I still am, never give up folks.
For such a rare weapon, a video with balistic high speed or the slo mo guys (or both!!!) would break the internet. Slow mo shots of these bullets hitting steel targets, dummies, water jugs, and anything else exciting would be amazing!!! Please make it happen! Edit: .950 JDJ vs Atlas stone!!!
@@ianrawlings2546For those kinda collabs it’s more the fact they have better equipment literally designed to take the perfect slow mo shots. Scott has mentioned that in one of his earlier collabs with one of those channels.
All hail Scott, UNDISPUTED KING OF RECOIL!!! Him who was cast into the Valley of the shadow of Death and clawed his way back to the mountaintop through sheer force of will. His physical powers are only matched by his mental toughness and dedication to his craft. LONG LIVE THE KING!!! 👑💪😎👍
All I heard was I almost died and learnt nothing from it. Life is precious and to treat it with such disregard is offensive to his family and those that love him. I also strongly object to the king of recoil statement. A true king would never make such a mistake.
@@Mu7eD-Stream I disagree on all counts. Part of loving someone is to know who they are. Scott wouldn't be the same if he retreated from what he loves to do because of that horrible accident. I almost drowned years ago and I didn't quit swimming. I was almost killed in a car accident and I didn't give up driving. Even if Scott did quit shooting the biggest and most powerful firearms that is no guarantee of safety. Life is precious because life is also dangerous and fleeting. We don't know how we will go or when. I see Scott takes many precautions these days and I believe he has learned from his experience. He has faced his pain and trauma head on and continued to do what he loves for himself, his family, and for us fans. He is a Warrior, a Champion and a King.
Scott, I really appreciated the opening of this video as you talk about not letting a past traumatic event stop you from doing what you love. It was really inspirational for me, and spoke to some stuff I'm dealing with right now. Thank you for sharing that!
I'm really glad you made it through such a catastrophic event. I'm also sorry for the injuries that you had to go through . Scott, thanks 😊😊😊 for all the humor and laughs you give us!!!!
I'd like to point out something... Scott, the official numbers for the .950 is 3600 grains, at 38k ft-lbs of muzzle energy. This is more than twice as powerful than the most powerful .50 BMG, and depending on the measure... more powerful than the round that blew up Scott's Serbu rifle. Also... he fired nearly 700$ worth of ammo. Each round is 225$ and MUST be custom made.
I'm always grateful we didn't lose u, Scott! U came back better than ever with a new lease on life & more comfortable in your own skin & I for 1 couldn't b happier about it. Long live Scott, the recoil king!
First of all, Scott, you're a modern day hero. You overcame mortality itself and have gone beyond what anyone would have expected. I am inspired by your tenacity and enthusiasm. Second, you said this rifle is for big game, no? *I wonder how big!* Try to shoot a ballistic gel dinosaur skull with it, Kentucky Ballistics style. I was going to suggest a bear one, but seeing what it did to the water jugs tells me it won't be enough of a match!
Scott I gotta say that, personally I'm so glad you have triumphed over that traumatic experience. Thank God you survived that SLAP round explosion. We really appreciate you pushing through to bring us useful and interesting content. I remember seeing that episode and thinking there would be a content drought, if you posted again. Thank you brother, for all that you do and thank God you are still here to post. I can't say it enough. Enjoy your day my friend. Bless you and your family.
I have watched your videos for years and your first shot was awesome. Very disciplined and you let the rifle do its thing. Probably kicked like a mule too. Great content man!
It is so good to see a 950 JDJ Fat Mac again after SO many years from seeing an old video of the one with the dark green body. Also Congratulations on the 3-year anniversary of surviving the accident, it is still a shame that it happened in the first place but I am so glad that you survived it Scott. Something I would like to see you try doing with the 950 JDJ Fat Max is shooting the ballistic bear head, shooting bulletproof armor and/or glass, zombie torso, and if at all, Ambrames metal armor.
The man, the myth, the LEGEND! You've got balls that clank! That rifle would dislocate most people's soul. Congratulations on the anniversary, and of course that rifle! I know that came at great expense. Thanks Scott for the great content!
I saw the video of your accident. I think I was watching for a year before it happened ( if I remember right). When you came back and continued making videos , you earned my respect. It takes a certain something most people dont have to come back after something like that and get back on that horse. You sir,, have my utmost respect. You , on that day coming back, became an inspiration for a lot of people. Here's to you man. You are a true badass! And believe me,, I am NOT just giving lip service..
You absolutely spoil us rotten. I can't even imagine the cost per round on that beast or the cost of the rifle. Next has to be the ballistic torsos and, of course, with and without body armor. You are truly the KING of recoil!! 💥💪👍
It was $40 a round when it was first introduced, closer to $230 now. Ballistic torsos are multiple thousands, if we wanted to buy one. They send them to RUclipsrs for free.
I would honestly love to see someone develop a type of body armour that could survive a shot from this absolute monster of a round. Cause once they do, we can just start putting that on tanks, and they'll be invincible!
@@KadRSPpretty sure most modern main battle tanks are pretty resistant to a .950 JDJ since the average main battle tank barrel ls like what, 4.7 inches, nearly 5x than the 950 JDJ Bullet lol

You are an inspiration to us all, Scott....surviving a nearly fatal accident with your RN-50 and celebrating how you told the Grim Reaper to pound sand 3 years ago by shooting a Fat Mac? Outstanding!

Things I'd like to see the JDJ shoot:
1) If a zombie was standing behind a grizzly bear, shoot both?
2) how many clear ballistic gel can it go through
3) body armor on a zombie torso? That energy transfer would be wicked
4) as someone else said, can it split a log of firewood if it hit the log length wise in the middle?
To be fair that is am impressive list of ideas all of which I agree with!!!! However, you forgot to mention an engine block 350 V8+ would be great but any nice old big block would be fun to see what it does to them!!!!
Asking the real questions here haha
Those some good ideas
i wanna see the firewood!!
1) so long as it doesn't deflect through the grizzly, yeah probably.
2) not too many since it always seems to deflect. Imma say 5.
3) what zombie torso? All I see is a green cloud. ;)
4) into a thousand pieces, yes.
Sry muchness lol.
There is no one on earth more deserving of the rifle and the honor of reintroducing it to the world. Outside of the rock island footage, there's no other place to see this behemoth in action. Congratulations, Scott! Well deserved!

How many fridges can stop it

How many block of gel can it shoot through
Can it split a log in half

This dude could shoulder an artillery gun from a battleship and still be like “I need bigger” 😂 love you Scott
Battleship: "when fired simultaneously, these guns rock the ship."

Not only the slo mo guys, but the how ridiculous guys (they did a series with 2 cannons and they loaded them with different things, bowling balls, in test, iirc and shot them at each other).
@@bikeny don't know about the how ridiculous guys. I love them but their style of content seems to ever involve firearms. The cannons were the closest they've ever got and those were painted bright colors and didn't look like traditional cannons. Just think they have a different viewer base.
There's also the ballistic high speed bros that would love to see it.
@@metal100khow ridiculous is from Australia which has strict gun laws, so that probably influences what they do
@@Pointlesschan yeah but they've been in the US for their last few videos. I think they were in Montana. Firearms are also a bit small scale for then. They might enjoy the punt gun though.
Their target audience is 10 year old kids lol
I still can’t believe you’re alive after that accident A miracle nobody survives accidents like that that often. When those kinds of guns like a 50 caliber explode, it’s like getting shot by one the odds of living or slim to none. You’re lucky somebody’s watching over you.. i’m glad you’re doing good. I’d like your video. Good job. You worked hard. You deserve everything you got. You definitely earned it..
Dude, I've been following you for long before your accident and it's amazing to see not only how you managed to survive all that and keep doing what you love, even if it almost killed you but you've managed to actually grow from it in every sense. Takes certain type of a man to pull that off. Much respect.
I have ZERO interest in the Mike Tyson Vs. Entitled Brat boxing match, but I’d pay to see Kentucky Scott Vs. Florida Man!
Dude u got such an awesome attitude u get injured and come back better than ever😊thats what its all about brother
Brother. I am/we are so thankful for you. My 8 year old son and I watch your channel and he LOVES it. He walks around saying “she be kicking!” Thankful that you and your Dad’s quick thinking kept what happened 3 years ago worse than what it was. Keep going!! 👊🏼
FINALLY ! ! ! I have left , i think, 2 comments in the past asking for the jdj. You not only have balls so big and heavy that they alone kept you standing behind that beast after pulling the trigger but you are also an inspiration for facing your fears and doing it publicly. You are a gem and I personally love and cherish you brother. Keep on riding the lightning. Stay safe.
Quite possibly the most entertaining YT video I've ever watched of someone shooting a cannon. Great job and keep em kicking!
Brotha Keep charging forward! I'm so glad you are still with us. And giving us all laughs, Gaffs, & love!! Much love From PA. Semper Fi!
20:01 Sounded like pops couldn't help that giggle😂😂
My man, you are not just physically stronger than most of us, but mentally as well. Most of us would have retreated to a hole somewher and stay there. God bless you.
I'd like to see this 400+lbs bench right down to high chest without a huge arch in back . Entire glutes and upper back flat on the bench. I'd be even more impressed of he did it inclined bench which is harder than flat bench
