A real man doesn't make you fear him. A real man makes you feel safe and comforted, because a real man is always soft spoken and calm. And the mass is what it is all about. The total gun weight includes the mass that the shooter can attach to the gun, which reduces the effects of the recoil.
Exactly! Eddie would have been an "immovable object" with just a little more experience and coaching re: stance, holds, and recoil! Impressive as heck!
Much of Eddie's recoils were the buttstock moving into his bicep and deltoid. If he was coached a bit about pushing/burying that buttstock into his bicep/deltoid and gripping as hard as he must have done to dead lift 1100 pounds, I believe Eddie could achieve a few more world records re: least recoil when firing MONSTER firearms!
Now that you mention it it's insane how different they shoot, with how much effect that has on recoil i think with a bit of training Eddie could have VERY good recoil skils

He grossly underestimated the kick from that artillery piece. In the hands of ANYBODY else, we would have seen some injury! If Eddie had more shooting experience, the result would have been even more impressive. But at 200$ a pop...

It's so crazy how small Eddie made those massive guns look. I mean physically small. He makes them look like undersized toys. I'm not even talking about recoil
@rockwellrhodes7703 Like the video says constantly, when he watched Eddie fire a gun, the guns look like they have no recoil. Its only when playing it back on video that he sees the recoil. This is what you are experiencing as well. Comparing this slow motion playback to your friends that you just watched with nothing but your naked eye.
Fascinating comparison. With the .500 it looked like Eddie had not only controlled the recoil to the lower level but had managed to bring the gun back down to level by the time Scott had stopped it going upwards
what makes things even more ridiculous is when you realize that the difference is actually even greater between them because scott leaned into the shot while eddie was just standing upright
WOW! That last rifle was a sight! You could have maybe taught him how to shoulder a monster like that before loading it for him, but the fact that his raw power could hold back that behemoth like that is insane. Like he said that thing has scary power. Good on you for also taking that thing like that, wow...Props to this production!
That was kinda the point of the video though; to see how sheer power measures against learned skill in managing recoil. If Eddie was trained up he might cut those movement numbers in half again.
And if he had experience. It looks like he didn't know what to expect from each shot. Last one took his hand off the grip. With some practice he could probably get around 4x better than the average 250lb dude 😂
@@mrkiky especially those big bore rifles I think practice with them would help. Even someone who has shot a before would thrown by something that big.
Yeah, that's wild. I wonder what it would look like if he and I were to shoot, say, my .44 Redhawk back to back. With anything hot in it, it takes a noticeable amount of time (half a second? Three quarters?) before I can take another (accurate) shot. I'm a little feller (5'9", 150 lbs).
I think it's just down to science at this point, acceleration vs mass and stuff. But it would be really interesting to see a regular guy vs Scott vs that monster, haha! Or, more telling, another Scott-sized guy who doesn't shoot vs Scott. I think recoil happens so fast that experience doesn't matter with regard to how you get rocked physically. Hot .44 is about all I can hit with, and I'm kinda little, I bet it rocks me back a predictable, repeatable amount more than bigger guys who've never even fired a gun before at the same rate as, say, Scott, and I assume Eddie (doesn't strike me as a gun guy) would suck it up even better.
Watching the four bore blast the sweat off Eddie's shoulder was cool. He took those impacts like a boss, but that shockwave of sweat going into the air really hammered the point home.
Going to say it wasn't sweat since you can see he has some kind of brace or padding to take the recoil impact of the gun but it might be his towel he used to dry off which may be soaked in his sweat.
On Average, Eddie did move less from recoil, but scott having experience helps him maintain control from what mass he has. The fact Eddie has an insanely stable stance is mind blowing.
That was what I noticed most, Scott almost takes a bit of a step back after the initial recoil and counts it in his total, but that initial recoil wasn't that much worse than Eddie's on some shots.
Absolute beast. Eddie with the disadvantage of experience still ate everything there like it was nothing. My shoulder hurt just watching you two shooting that mortar.
The best part was even with a complete lack of technique, Eddie could just eat the recoil. I hunt big game up north and it took me a few months of practice before I could manage my .375 with any kind of efficiency. I couldn't imagine the 4 bore.
Yeah but for Eddie to get that experience he would need to leave the UK. Cause no way in hell with as tight as the knickers are for gun control over there no way he could get the true practice. Still would be cool as hell to see Eddie blow up some ballistic gel torsos that look like Hafpór lol.
You can a lot of guns in the UK, even 50 cal. Its mostly the magazine size that is restricted. Shotgun ranges are quite common and you can just turn up to shoot, no licence or anything needed.@@smhaceofspades2813
I felt so bad for Eddie in that heat and humidity. Working conditions were brutal. Very cool though that he could hold that steady even being totally unfamiliar with those guns and their recoil.
Yeah th recoil might have been less if he had more experience. Just from his stance you could see he wasn't familiar with shooting rifles as he didn't lean in and snuggles up the butt to his shoulder.
The side by side shots are insane. Scott can bench 425 lbs (absolutely nuts because that's adding 100 lbs my whole body) and Eddie's arms just drawf his. Absorbs recoil like no other and is a great sport. Fantastic video!
Don't know if you watch football or not but check out some videos of Sterling Sharpe. That dude was just over 200lbs and benched 425lbs. Pretty sure Barry Sanders was in that range as well and could squat over 600lbs. So you can lift to be big and lift to be strong. I knew a kid in high school who was benching upper 300's low 400's and he wasn't even close to the size of Scott. He was going to be the next Arnie. Not sure what ever happened to him. I know he broke his thumb skiing so couldn't lift for several weeks and lost over 100lbs off of bench. That's when I decided to stay with throwing around concrete blocks and carrying buckets of mud(mortar) for building strength.

He’s not “THEE” strongest man in the world. He is among the worlds strongest men. Likely the strongest man in the UK. He along with many other men, have won Worlds Strongest Man awards. Brian Shaw who’s quite a bit larger (6’8”) won 4 titles. Mariusz Pudzianowski has won 5. Eddie has won one, and quite a few strongest man in the UK awards. Strongest man factors in a lot of different feats of strength. Eddie Hall for a long time had the strongest raw deadlift, which was very significant in WSM.

@@alexturnbackthearmy1907That's the thing, he wasn't grabbing it with full force. You can tell he's not. He's not leaning into them, pulling the gun back into his shoulder, OR gripping with his hands tightly. He has no rifle experience and he still took the recoil better than Scott by 50%.

@@MrGHorf I mean, if he wouldn't GRIP the guns firmly before squeezing the trigger, it'd fly out of his hands. So yeah, it has mostly to do with his gripping strength. Also his mass is what defines his strength, so it almost translates to the same point.

Much of Eddie's recoils were the buttstock moving into his bicep and deltoid.
