  • After picking up a new pistol for bear protection while backcountry western hunting (Smith & Wesson 329PD 44 Mag) I soon realized there really wasn’t a good option for pack holsters. Well at least for my liking. I tried talking to a couple companies to see if they could make me a one off holster but nobody had a pistol blank to build off of and they were already backed up on other work. Knowing this and having a September hunt closely knocking on my door I knew I would have to come up with something on my own. I sourced many different RUclips videos to come up with exactly what I wanted and how I would go about doing it. It was a slow tedious project but in the end worked out flawlessly and proved to be very rewarding. Know that I’ve been exposed to kydex I look forward to utilizing it on future projects.

What a fantastic design. I have a model 329PD that I changed out the titanium cylinder for a S&W model 629 stainless steel cylinder I bought from Brownell’s (fluted). Got it quad ported by Mag-Na-Port who polished the hammer and trigger. MNP also electrically discharged machined a shallow vertical line in the “V” of the rear adjustable sight blade. And filled it with white. Mepro Big Dot tritium front sight for a X/S sight picture. 500 S&W Magnum Hogue recoil absorbing grip with Bowen Classic Arms lanyard ring threaded screw to replace the screw holding on the grip. Braided 72 inch boot leather lanyard attached to the lanyard ring.

Thanks! Yeah it was pretty involved. Seems like the revolvers take a bit more effort. Thanks for watching!
