That's good. I never thought of it that way, but you're right. My first gun was a Ruger super single six convertible. I've still got it. Next came a Colt Agent. I traded that one off. Got my intro to auto loaders in the Army with the old 1911A1. Still got one of those, too, although it's a modern reproduction.

I've never shot a S & W revolver and I've only shot a double action revolver once. I have arthritis at the age of 79 and I keep my S&W Shield 9mm in my car, but since I live in the mountains of the Idaho Panhandle, if I venture too far from my home I take my 3-screw single action Ruger Blackhawk, .357 magnum revolver that I bought the year after I was married in 1969. I have this in 41 magnum, but unless I use cowboy action loads, it is a bit stout. For me my .357 makes me feel safe wherever I may be and I am used to shooting it and I never worry about it jamming.

From the spec ops world. For 32 years a revolver has been my back up. Either a J frame, Colt DS, or Mod 19. Primary side arm over those years, Hi-Power, M1911A1 or toward the end, a Glock. Retired now and carry my Mod 66 daily. Keep a second Mod 66 in my vehicle. From snakes to bear, all bases are covered. Note - to be allowed to pack my backup in aervice I had to pass the semiauto courses of fire with said revolver. No problem.

Love the tourniquet talk. Everyone who loves or despises firearms should take TCCC First Aid training. You’re much more likely in your lifetime to need trauma training than tactical firearms training. Accidents , auto wrecks, ladder falls, electrocution, etc. Happen all around you all the time. Learn the basics religiously. Tactical shooting is a blast and can also save lives. Make time for both. 👍

I lived in Lakeview when that ranch was for sale. Longer ago than I care to admit. I was just out of school and bought mama our first washing machine for our rented trailer house there. We couldn't afford a drier. We were ecstatic we didn't have to use the laundromat. And we could afford the clothesline all day long! LOL I should go there for a class just for the memories.

This is awesome, I normally carry a semi auto. I’ve trained and used one for 20 years while serving in the military. The last 4 years I switch to revolver but I do a lot of back and forth between the both and I have to say I absolutely love the S&W 13-3 that I own. I do believe I will look into the revolver course the one thing the ranges around here don’t offer a course like this.

Those weapons were mire than enough to handle anything I could have encountered and had any buisiness not running from.

*Gunsite Academy* in Paulden, AZ is _thee_ premier firearms training facility in the entire country.
They have been around a lot longer too. I would wager that anything and everything Clint says at Thunder Ranch was something that was already addressed by Lt Col. Jeff Cooper.
If you are going to mimic someone - might as well take away from the best.
    Stay classy my friends.

Clint is correct. The dumbest thing ever is to have a costly gun carried in a cheap holster. I found the Galco FLETCH holster with a 30° forward cant works for me. Able to quickly draw all handguns while seated in a car. Plus, the offset stitching to keep the holster close to your body. Adding custom wood grips in the combat contour profile made my S&W revolvers fit my hands like a custom glove. Everything works nice, fits nice, looks nice and definitely shoots nice. One things for sure, revolvers are not obsolete.

Well-done. Liked! After 40+ years of long-stroke double-action revolving-around, arthritis in my index fingers caused me to suspend my almost-daily dry-fire routine. The other aspects of the DA revolver manual-of-arms remain hard-wired, but, as Clint Smith said at 0:49 to 00:59, this is my time to largely shift to auto-loaders, in the duty/service-sized size envelope, and give my K-Frames and GP100s a rest. Thankfully, the differing ergonomics and geometry of my smaller-frame SP101 and J-snub revolvers do not vex my index fingers’ joints nearly as much, keeping the little five shooters relevant, at least for now.
Not that all autos are good for aging hands. In my case, most, if not all compact nines are pain machines. Fortunately, I learned to “dress around” an S&W N-Frame Model 58, .41 Magnum, when it was my duty revolver, 1985 to 1990, so, today, concealing an “orthopedic” Glock G17, one of the duty pistols in the twilight of my LE career, is not such a challenge.
