Oh man...you are INSANE! You do ALL THAT every time you buy a gun?!?! I love it.
For all the guns I buy...I'd be wasting years of my life. Hahaha
I learned a lot. Keep it up!!!

Ahrends grips. Unfortunately they have shut down and are no longer producing grips. If you see them in the wild snatch them up!

Excellent video. Very informative. I have heard several varied opinions regarding the 629 PD. A good carry gun, but not to be shot often.

I have the 329 nightguard. It doesn't have the terrible titanium, and it feels great. Love mine.

The titanium cylinder is prone to pitting and eroding when high velocity light bullets are shot. I put a S&W 629 cylinder on my Model 329PD and never looked back. Stainless steel is more durable than the grade of titanium S&W uses to make their cylinders.

Was it a simple swap? Do you replace the ejector also or use all the PD parts and change over the cylinder? Which cylinder do you use? I see a 629, and 629-1 on Midway USA

@@Bowstringdotcom I just swapped the cylinder out and used it. No problem. The model 329 is the same as the model 629 and model 29 just different materials.

very interesting presentation,,,,I am planning on getting new one but will do your basic step checkup anyway,,,,interesting enough when I was watching your video my eyes cought something @5:29,,,- crane has #854,,,then @11:11 you had mentioned #854 engraved on that plate,,,,wired experience but now I know why I did notice that number on a crane,,,it looks that all removable parts have #,,,it's like an automobile vin#,,,,,,thanks again

How cool would it be to heat up the Titanium cylinder a little and get that gold/blue/purple colors out of it? 😂

  • @JamesReedy

I wonder if the 340PD and 329PD are stubborn like that because the little blast shield steers some of the gasses from the cylinder gap up and over the top of the cylinder.
I also noticed your test didn’t include hammer follow? That said I’d be shocked to see a 340 or 329 shot enuf to have that issue 😂

Some of the channel viewership was interested in a longer format video with a slower pace. Its possible that another video may release that covers the breadth of that material in a much shorter video. Thank you for the feedback.

Yeah I’ve watched too many videos of people shooting that and I already know I wouldn’t like it. Hell I sold my 3” 629 durning the pandemic (for more than I bought it new!👍🏻😏) because the blast and recoil made it not fun to shoot with the fancy wood grips other than 44spl, no one wanted to shoot it with me! I ended up getting a 8” Raging Hunter with those gel pad grips and the weight and magna porting it’s a dream to shoot! Although the trigger isn’t quite as nice as the 629. 🤷‍♂️🫤
