Christine, could I offer a suggestion please? At the beginning of your videos could you please show the finished project so that we know what you’re making? Thanks! I enjoy watching! ❤
Thanks for the suggestion Barbara. When I have a product made, I try to show it at the beginning, but as you could see from the raw fabric, I hadn't made it yet.😀
Someone mentioned that this would make a great holiday napkin. I agree. In fact I think these would make great adult bibs, for those with cognitive impairment, tremors, etc. I'd make the cotton neck part shorter, so the absorbant fabric starts at chest level and maybe put a popper or two strategically placed so that the two absorbant sides can be spread out across the chest and secured while eating. If one used something like a cotton waffle, you could even make the top and bottom part from the same fabric and it would look like a scarf and so feel unobtrusive for the wearer, so they don't feel like they are wearing a bib. Or alternatively, go all out, and make some novelty seasonal ones, and offer to any guests who want, and if you have a guest with dementia or frailty, they can feel like they are part of the fun.
This Kitchen Boa Scarf idea would also be wonderful for the gym, and when working outside on hot days. This will keep me from losing my towel. These Kitchen Boas would make much needed Christmas (or anytime) gifts.Thank you for another wonderful idea, instructions, and video. You are a great teacher. I love your hair. My hair had to be cut short; because, my neck could not take the weight anymore. The pain became too much. I still miss my long hair. It was easy to get ready every morning, when I had long hair.
These are some great uses for the boa Arvetta. Every year I threaten to cut it all off, but it's so long because I'm too lazy to maintain it. I still can't raise my shoulder very high, so it's braids for now😁
Awesome ! A Quick and Great gift to give to my club ladies for Christmas. For me this is awesome because when I am in the kitchen cooking I always have a towel over my shoulder….that usually falls off…lol. TFS
Just finished mine…..so happy with the result that I am sending it as a gift to a friend who is going into hospital!! Now for one for myself!. Thank you so much for your clever idea!!
fantastic the way you showed us your technic and i love what you did with the neck band can't wait to make these for Christmas and my self as well. Thank you
So glad you found something to make for yourself. You can think of me when you cook. I’ve made them before and sold 7 of them, but I really like your technique much better than the way I made them. Will use it when I make more.
Thanks Lucrezia. I really love the fabric, and wanted to make something that I'd use regularly. I'll be making matching pot holders with the leftover fabric😁
So funny! I just found one of these yesterday - brand new - at our local thrift shop. Never seen one but looked useful. Now you show how to make one the next day! Love it!
I can't wait to make these! I like that they are something that I can make for men as well as for women just by using different print fabrics. Great video as always Christine. Thanks so much!😊
Thank you for another brilliant idea!! So easy to make and its going to be a great addition to my cooking regime as I always wear an apron when cooking but am always looking for that missing hand towel!!
A wonderful idea, Christine, especially pairing them with potholders, a nice gift. Question, when sewing the long back, seam wouldn't we be able to sew it a bit curved in around the neck, about 5 inches either side of the center? Like shaping it around the neck, by making the seam wider. I would like your opinion before I try it, please. Thank you.
That would work too Madelyn, and wasn't an option I had considered. May just have to try this myself. Perhaps try shaping a scrap fabric first, and ensuring you clip the curves too😀
Thank you! I have a sweet remnant that I have wanted to use. I have been missing your videos, wondered if you took a break, finally looked, must be yt fiddling! This is great, thank you!
God bless I always enjoy your videos this video is awsome..I've been doing these for awhile a bit different with a pocket for the phone..but this is much easier..after watching your channel for quite sometime now I finally took time to join the group..I posted pictures of the things that I learned from you..and yes they sell..oh by the way my puppies name is coco lolo I went to a pet salon n I gifted the owner 2 poopy bags n he ordered me 20..😅be blessed I always enjoy your videos..
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs You're welcome. Did you gey my question, from another video, about making coulottes? I' ve seen other videos on the topic, but I don't learn by watching and listening to stupid music. I was hoping that perhsps, you would consider making a paircof them , and msybe a wrap around reversible dress, and then showing us how to make the pattern.? Just my questions and thoughts. Thanks.
Sorry for the delay in responding Patricia. I don't get notifications when people reply to comments. I'd love to make coulottes and a wrap-around dress, as well as lots of other garments. My problem is finding the time to do them. I'm hoping next year, I can be a lot more disciplined and manage my weeks better. I'd love to be able to dedicate at least one day a week to dressmaking😀
They're great uses for the boa Arvetta. Every year, I tell myself that I'll cut it all off, but it's this long because it's low maintence, and I'm too lazy to maintain it. I still can't raise my shoulder to get it in a bun, so a braid it will be for a while😁
I'm longer on body from shoulder to waist so I will lengthen mine and add a snap or other closure to keep it away from the sink etc. It's simple enough to make for children if the length is adjusted.
Thanks Jay. I didn't have one made up at the beginning of the video, but you can always fast forward to the end. Just like reading the last page in a book🤣
Just because I made one of these a couple years ago and used a heavy towel, and seasonal woven fabric that wanted to wrinkle horribly, my suggestion is, lightweight toweling and better quality woven fabric.
Wow!!! This is so awesome. I have seen these before but never knew how to make them. So I am really bad about pricing. How do you come up to $15.00 for your labor? I divided, multiple, subtract & added $45.00 and the 20 minutes it took you to make it and I can’t figure how you got $15.00 for labor. Please help, so I can price my products correctly so I don’t end up over or under pricing the customer.
Hi Christine. I have a labour rate of $45 per hour AU$. If it takes 20min to make, then 60min divided by 20min gives you 3. (60 / 20 = 3) so $45 divided by 3 is $15 (45 / 3 = 15). Hope that's helped😀 The other thing you can do once you decide on an hourly rate for example, I charge $45. Divide that by 60 minutes to give you a rate per minute. ($45 / 60 = .75 cents per minute). Put it on a post it note somewhere for quick reference. Then when you make something that takes say 45 min, you just multiply by .75 = $33.75 I'd round it up to $35
I might try one of these instead of an apron for washing dishes (by hand). I'm a big girl and my b**bs get wet because I stand so close to the sink. LOL
If you enjoyed this video & feel like giving something back to the channel, you can do that here..... www.buymeacoffee.com/stitchthisr

I had no idea what a kitchen boa was so had to watch it all to find out. So, I agree it would be nice to see a finished one at the beginning.
Thanks for the suggestion Barbara. When I have a product made, I try to show it at the beginning, but as you could see from the raw fabric, I hadn't made it yet.😀

Excellent idea.
I love the idea for an adult bib. Thank you😁

Thanks Gena. It was a fun one to make😁
I made some of these but added a loop on the back so I could hang them on the refrigerator when not in use!

haha, I've been known to drop towels in my cooking pot. Not any more though🤣
I love this tutorial. It looks beginners friendly. I might try this. Thanks for sharing.
It really is beginner friendly😁
I have seen these at craft shows and never knew how they were made. Thanks for the info video.
Thanks Sandy. I used to think they were a little more complicated too😁
Yep! Great idea for gift for co workers who like to cook, and I know plenty ❤👏
That'll keep you busy Elayne😁
Great! Guess what hubby is getting for Christmas? Yea, for his new kitchen.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
haha, that's awesome Debbie😁

That's wonderful Margie. I've cut up a heap more for the shop as well😁
This is such a great project! I’m thinking these would also be a great holiday ’napkin’ option.
That sounds like a great idea Latecia😁
those look really fun to make. I am always looking for a towel to dry my hands on while cooking. This will work prefect! Thanks for the tutorial.
You are so welcome Juanita😁
My Sister-in-law made one for me and I love it. I use it all the time.
I've used mine every day too Lia😁
I started making these about a year ago. They have been one of my best sellers. I am in the USA.
Thanks for sharing Teresa. I haven'te tried these yet, but hope they do well too😁

thankyou thanks to you i have learned alot..be blessed@@ChristinesHomeAffairs
Christine, sew a twill tape loop on when you sew the folds at the neck. Then you can hang your damp towels on a hook to dry.
Great idea. Thank you😀
I like your boas.
Thanks Lucille ☺️
I have some Terry cloth I could use. Love them
I think that would work perfectly Nita😁
That’s a great idea and present for Christmas, thanks for sharing.
You're very welcome Eve. These will be a perfect gift😁
Very good instructions!!!! I'll be doing these
Thanks Cathy. Happy sewing!
You have made this so easy to follow! Thank you! Do you have a tutorial for the pot holders as well?
Not yet Trish. I haven't made it yet.😀
Another great project Christine! Simple quick and easy. As usual your instructions are great. Good on you! 😊
Thank you Janet. It was nice to do something so quick and simple😁

@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Awesome.
Great video! What size needle do you use? I’ve broken a few trying to sew through the layers. Do you have any tips for me?
I love your videos! Could you do a pin cushion sometime? Thanks!
Yes! I’m a tailor and would like to make one as well 👍😁
They're great uses for the boa Arvetta.

Could you develop a boa with pockets at the end instead of towels. My idea is a sit- down length with sewing item pockets for hand sewing.
I like your idea kay. Could you email me so I don't forget please 🙂

It would be handy to see what the item was in the introduction and thumbnail.

Hi Christine. I have a labour rate of $45 per hour AU$. If it takes 20min to make, then 60min divided by 20min gives you 3. (60 / 20 = 3) so $45 divided by 3 is $15 (45 / 3 = 15). Hope that's helped😀
The other thing you can do once you decide on an hourly rate for example, I charge $45. Divide that by 60 minutes to give you a rate per minute. ($45 / 60 = .75 cents per minute). Put it on a post it note somewhere for quick reference.
Then when you make something that takes say 45 min, you just multiply by .75 = $33.75 I'd round it up to $35
Is there an actual pattern that can be mailed and not to download
I don't have a printed pattern for this Donna😁
What does your label say
Brenda, the label says "Handmade in Nagambie", "Stitch This", "www.stitchthis.com.au" over three lines
I have never seen these before, so something a bit different. .
They sure are Karen. I'm really enjoying my new one😁
Never heard of a kitchen boa. What is it?
Mandy, it's just a tea towel hanging from the end of fabric. Just like a scarf😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thank you. Clever. I’ll try one and see if I like wearing it while I cook.
