I made two so far. The first one was various quilting cottons and a blue binding. The second one was a triangle cut of blue background with stars in a corner (quilted) Then red and white 2 inch stripes to the other corner. My son’s idea. Think the binding will be a gold color. The flour sack tea towel from Walmart is 28x28 inches
I have quite a few tea towels... I never would've thought to use them for quilt as you go project. Brilliant idea by your sister. I will definitely be making some of these.
Thanks! I'm so glad you found it helpful! 😊 I’ll be sure to let my sister know you liked her towel idea. Thanks for the kind comment and for watching!☺️
Just came upon your channel and FB page for the first time this morning. I am a retired Hoosier RN with many similar interests. Looking forward to spending some time with you while I putter around the house this very chilly December day!
Yes, I have. I haven't thrown mine in the dryer...I just hang it. It came out great. My sister throws hers in the dryer...They may be a bit wrinkled but pressing them will fix that. I did not prewash the towel or the fabric and I'm sure she didn't either. They make great towel that is practical snd pretty! Thanks for watching!😊
I’m so glad you like them!😊 Yes, when I first started sewing binding strips together, I would always get a few going the wrong direction so I had to figure something out that would help me get it correct. This method has done the trick! Thanks for watching!😊
In aussie, tea-towels used to come in linen. It doesn't absorb much, so now towelling is more usual. That one looks big enough for 2. You could use towelling on the other side. Maybe take off the hem first to reduce bulk?
I was wondering where you live. I am from southern Illinois and have gone to Hancocks. It’s nice to hear local shops mentioned. I have a quilt kit from them waiting for quilting. Such fun to see all the quilts on display ❤
I live in Northeast Missouri but love to order from Hancock's online. I finally went to Paducah on a girl's trip and spent a few days shopping the fabric stores and going to the museum. We had a fun time!! You're lucky to have Hancock's nearby! It's nice hearing where my viewers are located. Thanks so much for commenting and watching my video!!😊
I would think that would work well. It would just take a large piece. It really isn't hard to sew as long as you keep it flat. Thanks for the suggestion and watching my video!😊
I understand totally! What I finally have told myself is that fabric sitting in my fabric cabinet is not allowing me to see it...I might as well make something with it so that I can enjoy it all the time! Thanks for watching!!😊
Yes, I did. It turned out fine. It can be ironed if it comes out really wrinkly. I did you good quality quilting fabric with mine. The better quality fabric does wash up nicely. Thanks for watching!😊
Correct! You could do decorative stitches on the diagonal seam lines or stitch 1/4 away from them, if you like that look...but it's not necessary. Good question!😊
A tea towel is a thin cotton towel that is used to dry dishes. It can be used to cover baked goods, line a hot roll basket, etc. In the past and it seems to be coming back, ladies would embroider pretty designs on them or decorate them in some way, You may know them as flour sack towels. I hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching!😊
This would be cute as a bath mat. Just sew it onto a bath towel in the size you want or have. It would really be nice as a summer baby quilt.
I love this! I would put several together to make a quilt.,

Beautiful towel. I wondering if you added a water soluble stabilizer on the back of the towel if it would help with the sewing
