    Looks great I have thought about doing my entire Fj cruiser. I will be doing my steel winch bumper this summer getting tires of repainting it every couple of years. Did my sons FJ cruiser roof in white this summer came out great. Great product easy to use. You need at minimum a 6 gallon compressor. Does not help with sound deadening I have a buddy that did his entire Fj Cruiser.

    Tip for adding color. When I did my jeep I went to the pet store and got one of there large syringes. I could then measure exactly 50ml and squirt in directly into the raptor liner without any mess at all. I also died them all at once so I didnt have to worry about mixing them up. Color came out way lighter than I thought it would, but it actually looks better a lighter blue.

    what color do you use? Doesn't the color come ready? If I want the dark gray color, will it come from the factory?
    The compressor used is of how many horses and the air reserve tank is required of how many liters? And finally, how many PSI should be worked to paint with the gun sent by the raptor company?

    • @5150MotorSports
      @5150MotorSports  3 года назад

      Parachoques y Mecánica Farmor it’s a stock Jeep color called Colorado Red.
      I Used the tintabe Raptor meaning you mix it with what color you want, I believe they do offer, black, white and grey.
      I used 7 Liters of raptor liner and sprayed between 60 and 70 psi.

    Looks great guys! My only concern is that the rough surface won't allow any gaskets for the mirrors, door handles, locks and any other surface contact gasket to seal properly allowing water to seep past them. Did you smooth out those surfaces or used some kind of filler to make a smooth surface for the gaskets?

    • @5150MotorSports

      Thanks, the Raptor Liner it not super rough, and I don’t see any issues of water sipping. We have pressure wash the Jeep several time and no sippage anywhere. It your concerned you could alway use some type of waterproof caulking under and inside the door handles and Mirrors..👍

    nice raptor liner job but you shouldn't stir body filler it's not good for it works better if you keep spreading it over and over till you get a contestant color and try and use a piece of metal or parchment paper to mix on just a tip still like the video

    • @justinmurphy2227
      @justinmurphy2227 4 года назад +1

      Yes....I've always been told to "fold" the hardener into the filler....not stir because it can lock in air bubbles and cause cracks later. Then again, I'm sure I've added air in before.....probably a scare tactic to make for good practice so it can't hurt to just keep doing it the way I'm taught! lol.

    It’s supposed to sprayed at 50 psi the first 2 coats then 2 70 psi coats and when doing tintable raptorliner it takes 3.25 oz per bottle not 2 oz it’s going to die back some. I spray raptorliner for a living have a shop in Florida but it came out pretty good needs one more 70 psi coat to make the texture on the passenger side match and be even and consistent

    • @5150MotorSports
      @5150MotorSports  4 года назад +1

      When we used 45 psi we didn't like the texture it was way to course for are liking. Using 80 psi and the adjustable spray gun nozzle turned out 2 turns gave us the result we wanted. Our Raptor dealer suggested 2 oz of color base coat without binder to matched are factory color per bottle. It came out fairly close but a little light maybe 3.25 oz would have been better.

      Not necessarily, some painter prefer starting at the bottom working up, you just need to be aware of your air supply. Also your tack coat starting from the bottom helps the paint from running. The hose getting in the way is always a concern even from starting from the top, once you have one coat you need to be aware of you hose../

    It still surprises me how many raptorliner videos I see with people spraying without proper PPE. The hardener in raptor line has isocyanate, highly toxic and either you use a charcoal filter mask and change the filter every couple of hours or a supplied air respirator is needed.

      Hi Dominic, Thanks for watching…
      Visit your local automotive paint (PBE) supply store, and they can help you color match. RAPTOR is compatible with any solvent based color, including 2K acrylic solid color and mixed acrylic basecoats, and can be added up to 10% by volume (ask your paint supplier to leave out the binders if possible for best pigment density). NOTE: Acrylic basecoat toners tend to have high color strength so use sparingly (less than 10% tint by volume). RAPTOR cannot be used with water based, polyester, or enamel paints.

    Painters always start at the highest point work there way down don’t drag the hose on what you painted peel the tape as soon as you spray it it’s dry looks good in red

    • @5150MotorSports
      @5150MotorSports  4 года назад

      Not necessarily, some painter prefer starting at the bottom working up, you just needd to be aware of your air supply. Also your tack coat starting from the bottom helps the paint from running. The hose getting in the way is always a concern even from starting from the top, once you have one coat you need to be aware of you hose..
