    Finding this again after seeing so many 4-2-1s with 1-3 and 2-4 (or 1-2 and 3-4 pairing) makes me wanna say "Finally, a properly designed tri-y." The only way it could be better is if you'd have stepped up the primaries at least twice, and the secondaries at least once before their respective merges.

    • @Smffab
      @Smffab  6 дней назад

      Thanks, appreciate the feedback

    • @Drunken_Hamster
      @Drunken_Hamster 6 дней назад +1

      @@Smffab Actually, I might be wrong about the amount of steps on the primaries! So do your research, first, please. I DO know for sure from what I've seen and heard so far that stepped headers in general will audibly "sing" more than normal headers. If you look up the latest Maisteer video "how F1 sound is made" he explains it.
      But as far as power goes, my research shows conflicting information on whether you should stick with only 1 step or multiple on the primaries. 1 step is seemingly almost always good, but more than 1, IDK. Good way to get more steps (for a better sound) is to have primaries and secondaries, though, which you do.

    Question: Who is buying this? Are these just once a month fabs you do? Selling locally or do you get people from all over the country? Not trying to steal your business just trying to get some incite on how to start one. Any Info is greatly appreciated! Keep up the great work!

      Thank you, I appreciate that. I don’t sell many of these but I would if I had more time as there is demand for them. Here in the Uk a lot go for the cheap Chinese made manifolds but there are quite a few good quality custom fab ones being made for those who want to pay more for better products.

    You didn't show welding the pipes together on the last merge to the header flange. I weld the merges together after the other pipes are welded so you can get at the weld.
    Nice work!

    • @Smffab
      @Smffab  Год назад

      No sorry didn’t show that part, but as you can imagine there is limited access so I had to use more stickout and more torch angle and still managed to get a decent weld with full penetration.

    • @edwomer2969
      @edwomer2969 Год назад +1

      @@Smffab Ok but that would be a tough weld with the limited access to the side of the pipes.
      I make exhaust and 4 into 2 into 1 collector for it and I have jigs for each separate pipe as well as the collector. It is for a VW engine so the collector must slip onto the primaries but the collector is one piece when finished. I have found that welding each half together completely then the merge bend is the best for me but the merges are challenging with the long stick out and limited access.
      Still a nice job.

    I wanna hear the souuunnnd! Also, if you ever decided to do a UEL, please do a 1-4 or 2-3 pair UEL instead of the traditional 1-2/3-4 pair. It can potentially sound more V8-like with the way I described as it would be mimicking an 82-86 Honda V65 Magna with a Kerker exhaust and no muffler. (I can post a link to a ~1min video if you're interested)

    Bravo ! Ma io non credo che i raccordi ai tubi tu li abbia tagliati a occhio... non hai voluto far vedere come li prepari, ok, a occhio e col pennrello puoi tagliare e costruire un tavolo in legno ;-)
    La piastra alla testata era in ferro o in inox anche lei ? AISI 304 o 316 ?

    • @Smffab

      Didn’t want to show everything as it would probably be a very long and boring video. I’ve tried to make it short but still include as many interesting and useful parts in the video as possible. Each piece is cut using horizontal bandsaw then finer adjustments made on a belt sander to get the fit up just right. The tube and flanges are all made from 304 stainless steel.
