Kind of a side note, but I am so happy to hear another person who actually likes Brother Bear. I adore that movie and never understood why people hate it so much. I even like the sequel (though it's definitely not as good as the first and falls into that trap of pushing a heteronormative story where it didn't need to).

Bolt?! You actually mentioned Bolt in a positive light! That just makes me happy. I feel no one ever talks about this movie. It was a big part of my childhood and I still love it to this day. And I know it's sappy but the ending with Penny trapped in the burning building and Bolt trying to rescue her gets me every time. I don't know why, it just does.

The series creators were even saying that even though the movie is decent to watch, it is perfectly possible to forget about it for a while and then come back to it. They reccomended that you watch the main series from the very beginning to fully understand the actions in it, but it is just a highly reccomended option to do if you can. They made sure that the movie would be future proofed to be enjoyed at a much later date as well. The whole entire series was actually purposely designed this way, making Disney Plus have problems trying to upload it to its servers. Even if it was the only show on there, there still would be some difficulty getting the show uploaded.

They only also included the Hawaiian theme song in the very beginning of the show development as well. I actually believe Lilo Stitch 2 was already fully finished, and they held off from releasing it until the time was right.

    • @joshernsteen2066

I am not sure how much Disney was actually aware of what they were actualy doing at the time, since it was likely too hard for them to understand at the time. I believe that might have been anlarge majority of the time at the Proud Family series creators talking with them about the future of the series based on official statements that I found abkut them talking the future of the show being remade on Disney Plus already having the start of the series planned out, based on total views of the episodes of the show. It is really not a move, but an explanation that is only maybe somewhat(?) explained in the main series of the show. Disney Plus has uploaded episodes that i believe have been made available to watch on the internet for along time now. The show does have a chronical flow of content, you are not seeing that side of it on Disney Plus. The series creators even said that the movies would be uploaded first, then the rest of the series. They were 100% completely aware of Disney Plus coming out in the future as well.

@@joshernsteen2066 I don't think so, Lilo and Stitch 2 is actually the 3. movie "Stitch! The Movie" is the second one XD Lilo and Stitch came out 2002 and "Stitch! The Movie" was released just one year later in 2003 and was also a pilot for the TV series.
"Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch" was released in 2005, it takes place between the first movie and "Stitch! The Movie".
And the soundtrack for "Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch" was recorded between 2004-2005, which basically proves that the movie wasn't finished back when "Stitch! The Movie" was released.
But I actually heard that some people that worked on Lilo & Stitch 2, didn't even know about Stitch! The Movie while working on it, which is also why the room of Lilo and Stitch looks so different in Stitch! the Movie and Lilo and Stitch 2 X'D

Do you have any other detail on the episode, so that I can figure out which one you're talking about. I think I kind of remember it, but can't really which one it is.
Anyways it would be no surprise if some of the episodes have references to the "second" movie. The TV-series aired from 2003-2006, so I don't see how it would be weird that the show references a movie that came out in 2005 in a later episode.

I feel like whenever I talk about this movie with others everyone talks about Stitch and how cute he is. I will be honest Stitch is really cute. I feel like Nani and Lilo are underrated, their story is one that people can relate to. They're dealing with the loss of their parents and just trying to get by. Each of them is dealing with grief differently. Lilo is full of rage and Nani has to repress her feelings to help her sister. It's really sad, but I think this movie does a great of diving deep into the idea of grief. In many movies, it feels like it is glossed over.

I think the reason it’s still underrated is bc it isn’t a ton of escapism. Almost every big Disney movie is escapism and detached for the most part from real life. People probably thought bc it didn’t have big budget action or pretty wonderous garden like environments it wasn’t worth paying 10 bucks to go see. But it’s so pretty and honestly probably the closet to a studio ghibli movie the west has ever gotten. I adore this movie

Lilo and Stitch is THE movie of my house. My mom is obsessed with stitch, like going to McDonald's just to buy the stitch toys kind of obsessed. She has a couple mugs, and pajama pants. Out whole household has at least one stitch shirt(I have more than my mom surprisingly) and there are a ton of stitch stuffed animals too. I have a pocket sized stitch with a bowtie, and sometimes I'll wear a bowtie while carrying it around and joking call him my son. Also my little sister and mom both dressed as stitch last Halloween. So yeah, my family really appreciates this movie lol.

Stitch himself outside the movie has definitely not been forgotten he's a huge merchandising titan for Disney. He's everywhere especially in Disney parks, actually part of the Mickey and Friends merch line. No what's sad is besides stitch(and angel from the TV show) Lilo the heart of the film just gets completely left behind. It's one of those weird things there you can go no stitch is still super popular, and yes HE is but not necessarily the movie itself.
Definitely feels like Disney treats them as separate entities which just completely forgets the main message of the film. But Disney gonna Disney and Stitch makes money and money goes brrrrr.

It’s a classic Disney film that didn’t succeed when it first came out but had a massive cult following years later, even today. It’s rememberable now because it’s was so underrated during its time and it made us wonder “why didn’t we appreciate this before?”.

I was thinking the same exact thought as you were, and knew exactly what the correct response back was when I was a lot younger. I was even saying back then where a social media thread with the appropriate comment thread to save my thought for everyone to see. I believe that the series creators explains the exact reasons as to why the people watching the show would likely think that way as well. The way that they explained it was exactly my same thought process as well. They had the foresight and planning to include ideas inside of the episodes of the show as appropriate. Maybe there is one that explained directly inside it? I know that there an obscure episode that explains the actions of the Lilo and Stitch 2. The reaction by Jumba was completely honest, he was completely unaware of what was going on at time of it occurred. The series creators chose not to put their names into the show introduction with the reasons that I found somewhere online with them talking about it. Good luck trying to find the items that I am talking here. It was hard enough to find these details that could be found online back in the day of the show while it was still being aired.

"An era that had nothing defining them or any linking factors whatsoever."
I disagree. There are plenty of common themes throughout the 2000 films:
    Lack of musicals.
    Original stories.
    an emphasis on sci-fi
    weak villains.
Oh, and flawed heroes, who at best were troublesome and at worst were villains, and the film is about how these flawed protagonists learn to become better people (in some cases are changed literally), through friendship, but who often on this journey have a moment where they realised just how much they messed up and often redeem themselves by making a sacrifice when their friend is in danger. Well at least when you also count one of the antagonists in this category as well.

Basically Lilo & Stitch is a memorable animated classic from Disney.
It went on to become such a big franchise, that three sequels had been created. As well as an animated TV show, I even remembered there were Lilo & Stitch merchandise during the 2000s. When the franchise was growing, ever since the success of the first movie.
Nowadays you could find a little bit of Lilo and Stitch merchandise and who knows how many stores, but if you go to the Disney theme parks and resorts. You can easily find Lilo & Stitch merchandise.
However nowadays the merchandise are more about Stitch, and the truth is Disney is not making Lilo that popular. They're mainly using Stitch nowadays as a more popular character. Because nowadays, whenever I see the merchandise, I see nothing but Stitch. And I can't find merchandise featuring Lilo.
And also Lilo appears only little often at the Disneyland Resort, Lilo even appeared once alongside Stitch at Disney California Adventure when it reopened in late 2021. And then when I went back to visit the Disneyland Resort, I asked cast members if I could be able to find Lilo & Stitch at Disney California adventure. And they told me they were not making their appearances, and I was totally disappointed. Because at first I did see stitch, but at the same time I was disappointed that Lilo wasn't there. So I was hoping to see Lilo for the first time alongside Stitch at Disney California Adventure. But my dream never came true, it was so unfair.
But nonetheless at the Disneyland Resort they make Stitch to appear more often at the Disneyland Resort, and Lilo does not come out that much anymore. And to me that is sad, Disney is making Stitch more popular than Lilo. And to me that is really unfair to do that to another character, that kids also admired. Because I remembered admiring Lilo herself when I was a kid, and I'm sure there were boys and girls and not just girls that admired Lilo. And then years later, Disney trying to make Stitch more popular than Lilo. Totally unfair.
Lilo doesn't appear often at Walt Disney World in Florida, except the ohana character breakfast in the Polynesian Resort. However if you go to the Magic Kingdom and it's Tomorrowland area, as well as Epcot you would be able to find Stitch easily. I believe Stitch would also sometimes appear in Disney's Hollywood Studios as well. Stitch would get major appearances at Walt Disney World, except Lilo. Although Lilo would appear alongside Stitch in the Polynesian Resort.
The movie of Lilo & Stitch will never be forgotten, because it was and still is a Disney animated classic. Even for those who remember this movie when they were kids, now have a new generation of kids trying to enjoy this movie. And other Disney classics. so Lilo & Stitch will always be a memorable Disney classic, and the problem is for nowadays. Disney wants Stitch to be more well-known than Lilo, so basically Disney is forgetting about Lilo. And I believe not too many people know about Lilo, because they only see merchandise featuring Stitch. But no Lilo💔😢

Another thing even though Lilo & Stitch is a memorable Disney classic, another thing is that almost everybody had forgotten.
Disney plans to reboot Lilo & Stitch to be part of their Disney live action Canon, because as we all know. Disney decided to take almost all of their animated classics. And reboot them into live action.
So I remembered that they did say from before and they announced that they will plan to make Lilo & Stitch into a live-action movie as well.
Even though the original animated version will always be memorable and a classic, I can hardly wait for a reboot version or live action version of it too come out who knows when. I just hope it will be successful, I hope the live-action Lilo and Stitch will be successful

Another note, people’s taste in Disney film was different 20 years ago, which is why lilo and stitch was forgotten and then reremebered. Whereas the Disney company and the film watching audience are not down for retold fairy tales at the moment (which is the bulk of older Disney full feature animations prior to the 2000s).

Lilo and Stitch 2 was intentionally designed alongside the original intent as designed by the series creators. The entire series was designed and planned at all along by the series creators. The movies explain themselves themselves through the episodes that precede them, and it is what is never explained in the main series of the show intentionally. They were even saying that even though all of the episodes might eventually get uploaded to Disney Plus, it might take awhile due to how the series was intentionally made. One of the episodes even says that the reason will get explained in the movie when it going to eventually come out. I was watching a large majority of the show when I was younger, so I know what I am talking about. Also I did the research behind the series introduction, and found the reason as to why to the show was made the way it was as well. There is even an episode that they cannot even remember the title of that is NOT THE SKIP EPISODE THAT YOU CAN WATCH ON DISNEY PLUS!!! It is part of the main series of the show with the explanation being explained as part of the show.

Anyways Lilo and Stitch is my favourite movie and I love it so much XD I've watched it so often. Idk what you mean with the moking of traditional hawaiin cultutre, I've never heard of that, was there really a problem with that?
Cause I always thought they took presenting the Hawaiin culture in the movie really serious and that Hawaiin people really liked the representation of the culture.

Anyone who thinks it's mocking Hawaiin culture hasnt really paid attention. The film is about colonialism and the oppression of native Hawaiians. The only reason Nani cant cope with Lilo is because of the awful gig economy as a result of tourism. That's why the only time she's seen in traditional clothing is when working in a tourist attraction

We need more episodes on new cousins of Stitch in the Japanese anime TV specials or the original series, but I was glad it didn't happened in this boring stupid chinese spin-off, but I wish Stitch was never in china, I won't care if Sparky was in it instead, I like Stitch better in beach locations on both Okinawa and Hawaii!
