  • King Harold. I'm calling you out. You suck mate. Seriously this guy is one of the least redeemable characters in the Shrek universe and it's time to take him down. He is the Grandpa Joe of animation. Time to get rid of him. Fiona deserves better.

I think there's a chapter of this story that we're not seeing...You see, the story behind Shrek 2 is an allegory for what happens when you get in too deep _with the mob._ Fairy Godmother is a Gangster, who expects to be repaid...And it's plainly obvious she was the _witch_ who cursed Fiona in the first place, so that she could position her son to take over the kingdom, and then rule from the shadows behind him...
Don't you find it suspect that she happened to find _a frog_ who wanted to be human so that he could marry a "princess?" Especially considering that this Frog knew about an unnamed heir that his wife - the Queen - should have known about herself?
No...the truth is, the story of the Frog Prince is...the Frog _actually is a Prince,_ who has been cursed to the form of a Frog. I think the Godmother did _that._ She knew she had to position Harold where he'd be in her debt _forever._ So she secretly cursed him, turning him into a Frog where he was unable to return to _his family_ and inherit _his kingdom._
She then appears as the Fairy Godmother, coming to his rescue and claiming that she can reverse this problem, should he receive True Love's Kiss from a Princess.
She sets up Lillian with the Frog who would be King, and poof, the Spell is broken. But the Godmother always held it over his head to make sure she got her _proper payment._

If Harold is a prince, then what kingdom did his family rule. It can't be far far away as that's Lillians family who are royalty there. So that would mean Harold was king of just far far away but also another kingdom

    01:35 stopping you right there.
Fiona's parents are the princess and the frog. Meaning he had to have been a prince that was also cursed as a frog. Even in the second movie he says their first kiss was by the lily pond. Meaning their first kiss turned him back into a prince, she didn't look even a little surprised in shreck 2 when he became a frog again. She knew the whole time.

Honestly I'm just as confused. The Wiki says what he said: he was born a frog and took a potion from the FGM to become human so he could court her, though I don't know the sources of that so I can't even check whether that's true or where it came from. :P

@@unripetheberrby6283 not in the original frog prince story. He was a human prince that got turned into a frog then got turned back into a human during the story.
In Shrek 2, either could be true. He could have had a story similar to the original story as the OP suggests, or he could have been a frog that really liked a girl that later became his wife and went to the Fairy Godmother for help. Shrek 3 suggests the latter, but I try to forget that one ever existed.

Also, I just realized that Harold was born a frog…and his daughter was given a curse that transformed her into an Ogre, which is a creature that eats frogs…No wonder Harold was terrified of her curse and disliked Shrek on sight.

  • @jaelojaelo5279
    @jaelojaelo5279 2 года назад +26

Cmon, you started blaming him for being ashamed of who he used to be and being scared of rejection by admitting to it. That's a flaw, but a kidna sympathetic one. He himself most likely wanted to forget that he ever was a frog.
The kingdom was probably only crowning men as rulers, that's kidna the default. When Lilian's father died, her brother was probably already dead and Arthur missing. So the only heir was Lilian, but her husband was the ruler, or they both ruled equally, with her choosing to be more passive.
What happened to Fiona could be just as well blamed on Lilian. Only his matchmaking with Prince Charming seemed to be known just to him. He most likely agreed to that because he was constantly threatened by Fairy Godmother, who was really calling the shots all this time. So that added to him rejecting Shrek, who was a threat to his safety, by ruining FG's plan. Then he was intimidated and scared of Fairy Godmother so he initially caved in to her demands, but ultimately betrayed her by not giving potion to Fiona and sacrificing himself in the end, where he thought he might die.
So yeah, he wasn't great person, but i don't think he was as bad as you're making him out to be. The biggest villain is still Fairy Godmother and Harold is just a coward.

I...don't think she knew, judging from her reaction after she saw his true form. Lillian said "Harold?!" in surprise when he climbed out of the armor, and Harold responded he never wanted her to see him like this. There's a theory that Harold also used the Happily Ever After potion to turn himself into a human, and sealed the enchantment with that first kiss.

    A few things.
Its understood at least in 2 where these villains showed up that Fairy Godmother curried favor with nobility. Even if there was a deal what's to stop King Harold from just turning the entire town against her. Yeah she has magic but it basically comes down to line of sight firing up spells. If she were THAT powerful I wouldn't even let her hang around. And who's going to believe her if she blurts out that Harold is a frog. Harold hoping for the best honestly seemed fine. Charming is an idiot. The worst thing he did in regards to the curse was putting her on the other side of the damn planet. I feel like in all that time Harold could have figured out a way to deal with FGM.
How did they make Fiona. I get that its magic so I guess magically everything works like a human such as creating human semen. I was just thinking about this the other day. No wonder Fiona is a gross weirdo. It's not the 12 hour ogre side effects but its the fact that she's part frog
